  4. "To think Kayaba would want to add these things in an already stressful game. But I'm just starting to think he treats this as a joke or something. Not cool at all." Xlear follows his benefactor to Zackariah's abode, wondering what to expect from this next person. As he walks, he glances around the area and observes other lower-level players moving around town. "Sheesh. I wonder if they'd also hit this place up for the quest. I wouldn't be too surprised. When I last talked to them, they said they were already heading to the fifth floor. It's great that they're moving on, but with everythi
  5. "Yeah once the monsters start getting some actual damage numbers that will go well over your mitigation threshold," Wulfrin chuckled. "Don't let it go to your head too much. I will say this though, heavy armor and shield is the best source of mitigation. That means as you make your way up the tiers, your mitigation will go up exponentially. You could double down by stocking up on Immolation Potions at the general merchant at the same time you buy Teleport Crystals." A quick glance at the HP and EN of Ciela worried Wulfrin. She was basically running on empty but wasn't showing signs of wor

  7. Ciela chuckled at Wulfrin, "What a troublemaker you are. Well I guess I can't blame you if he's a prick." She continued to fight the wolves. As she performed her attack on the three wolves, she noticed that her attack on wolf one seemed to linger exactly like it did on her previous attack on wolf three. "Two out of three really isn't bad this go around. I feel like a masochist, I want them to hit me so they do more damage to themselves since you added thorns onto my armor." She laughed and put her shield up, bracing herself for potential attacks. Wolf one jumped at her, missing her just
  8. "Understood," Wulfrin responded. "No major alterations, and donations are graciously accepted." Wulfrin gathered up the payment and gifts of potions offered and went straight to work. Solaris wasn't happy to have his roost disturbed. The phoenix always found the fires to be quite relaxing, but Wulfrin needed the fires. In but a few minutes of Rhythmic metal strikes, Wulfrin had forged the requested Halberd. At the same time he pulled a suit of heavy armor that was rather plain and close to being completed. Finishing the craft and stamping both with his signet in the most unintrusive way h
  9. This was a test, in Freyd's mind. Would the mob get the better of him a second time, or would he maneuver into better results. Some would argue that repetition with expectation of difference was a definition for madness. Perhaps. He chose, instead, to treat it as an exemplar of hope. Few ever saw his actions for what they were, which was fine. Randomness served him for many purposes, most of them quite deliberate, but it was often more convenient to let people simply think him odd and to play the fool. And so it was that Freyd stood completely still, choosing to test a theory as he
  10. Wulfrin looked over the request with intruigue. It was something he had not considered before, and thus presented a challenge, and Wulfrin loved challenging himself. "It's not the usual request," Wulfrin said with a glint of excitement. "give me a few minutes, I'll have to start from scratch on this one." He disturbed the rest of his Phoenix Familiar, Solaris, who loved to use the flames of his forge as a nest. In a few minutes he returned with some rather ornate greaves. He placed them on his makeshift counter. "Well," Wulfrin said taking off his thick gloved. "Here you are, o
  11. Wulfrin traveled with Solaris flying over head. The phoenix rarely stretched its wings on its home floor, so Wulfrin allowed him to do so whenever they were there. Solaris eventually flew off towards the west, presumably to bathe in his well. The trip was just as dusty and harsh as the last time Wulfrin came with Freyd. Like before there was little build up to the fight. Freyd simply jumped in and allowed Persi to land her initial strike stunning the big monster. On Freyd's signal Ciela leapt into the ring and struck the beast on its hide. As suspected teh damage was minimal, and Wulfrin assum
