[PP-F13] Creating the Biggest Party Ever (War of the Ancients)

Recommended Posts

The girl looked at the group, they have not done enough damage as of yet to destroy the darkened souls. She knew that they needed to start killing them off, and shouted to the group, "We need to focus down the ones who are low first", and Rebekah made her way towards the sixth darkened soul. As she had previously tried to target the first one on her first move, she was able to make use of her charge skill, provided she could land the skill. As the leader of the group, she knew that she had to lead by example, and help kill them, and she knew that she needed to help Daeron withstand these attacks as much as possible, by killing the most she could at this moment. That was one down, seven more to kill.

Daeron withstood the damage fairly easily, they simply couldn't find an opening in his defense even though there is always some sort of weakness to a man's defense. He knew that it wouldn't take long before the darkened souls would start dishing out some pain by attacking through his defense. Looking around, the blonde man saw that the others simply didn't have the damage to defeat them. Granted that half of them were stunned, only one was actually down so far.

Keeping his hate higher than everyone else was important, so in order to do that he swung his blade at one of the darkened souls even though he had little to no damage. In fact, Daeron had such a low damage output that even with critical hits he wouldn't be capable of penetrating the enemy's mitigation, this was simply a tactic to attract more aggression towards him.

Opal continued on, each combatant pulling their weight in this hard drawn out battle as they attempted to whittle down the Darkened Souls. The formidable opponents shambled together creating a cluster as they stood in the way of the massive AoE of the players. Hot amber eyes looked through the curtain of black hair in front of her...it was a daunting task to take all these souls out, but it was for good reason and for them to continue on if they ever wanted to clear this game. Gritting her teeth, the woman swept her massive blade left and right as the ivory and silver pulsating light came to life within her blade. A crimson and white streak started for the middle of the pact, her blade viciously tearing through Dark Souls left and right as the blade dipped through their ethereal flesh and ripping through the other side. Howls of ghostly moans echoed in the battlefield as it darkened over them, a horrible omen to say in the least. But with that last attack, Opal had despaired for she had been drained much of her Energy pool. It will take her awhile to recuperate before she could do anything else much more.

Jomei grit his teeth as he looked around at the Darkened Souls around them. Most of their enemies were still doing pretty well health wise.. while a good number of the players fighting them were running low on their energies. "[censored]." Jomei cursed to himself, not liking these odds. Emerath somehow missed his chance to attack, and Opal jumped in to take his place so the souls did not have a chance to get to them just yet. Taking the opportunity, Jomei followed the girl in and watched as she unleashed one of her area attacks on half of the group. Immediately after her attack finished, Jomei sidestepped out from behind Opal and shot forward with a piercing attack. However, he struck too quickly, and his attack fell short, leaving Jomei right in the middle of these shadows. He quickly dove forward and got back up to his feet with a roll before any of the souls could attack him.

Everything was going great, even though Macradon missed his first attack, though because he kept on moving the momentum of the miss kept on and added more force to his next oncoming attack. He aligned himself for an AOE sword art that would deal some damage spread out instead of a single target attack. He wasn't able to deal too much damage because of his base damage as a whole, but his base damage plus the amount of strikes he would dish out with his sword art would be enough to do something. He used the <Fight Blade> sword art and went towards the already damaged Darkened Souls. He would cleave 6 times with his big great sword, going through 4 of the souls. The damage wasn't much, but it was enough to wither their health down to a point where the DPS players would be able to finish them off at least. Macradon would get back and place himself in a spot where he would be able to either stun or attack again.

Things seemed to be going pretty well, at least on the health front. No one had been injured so far, although Daerons luck was bound to run out soon, and at least one of the souls was bound to hit him eventually. She only hoped that he had the mitigation to deal with it. When it was her turn she rushed in and twirled, her dagger hitting four of the creatures but barely dealing any damage. She moved back and the remaining seven souls attacked him. Five of the souls missed completely, but one got in a glancing blow, and another hit him head on. Thankfully it looked like his mitigation was plenty to de3al with that. It wasnt much damage, but she would heal it her next chance anyway.

The battle was beginning to drag on forever, as she noticed that a few members of his team had started already losing most of their energy. This was the biggest problem that the group was going to encounter. However, since they managed to kill one of them, she knew that their confidence must have risen up, after all this task was no longer impossible, but extremely tedious. The girl remembered that it was her who dragged them into this, and she was determined not to fail them not only as a leader, but also as one of the veterans who have been here for a very long time. Since she knew that she had failed an attempted charge on the first one, she could not charge at that one, so she picked out the second one, and with over-radiation, she killed it, and there were now only six left.

Zero glanced at his team members as they quickly struck down some of the souls following his failure at attacking when he first arrived. He found himself taking a bit of extra effort to recover from his previous screw up and stepped out of the way so the rest of the team could continue their assault. The fight felt as if it was going to be dragged out endlessly due to the strength of the Darkened Souls and the fact that some reason someone had the brilliant idea of placing all the strongest players in the same party leaving only a handful of competent fighters. I’ll have to talk with Zelrius and the rest about avoiding this from happening again. He slowly took a step back as his blade was engulfed by a black light like it had done before. The light quickly began spread over his entire being, engulfing him completely, and rose up into the sky before swooping down at the first four Darkened Souls. He swept passed each of the souls a sharp whooshing sound following each time the light swept passed the souls, the light vanishing after the attack had ended.

"Not bad, Zero!" After his earlier screw up, the woman shouted off a compliment to the warrior with the dark aura. However, things were not as grand as they were. One by one, each of their Energy levels were being drained with the powerful use of their Sword Arts, Opal was borderline empty with her energy pool and had no way of making an attack that would stick. Using a Sword Art for one energy point would be worthless now since the Darkened Souls would absorb all but one damage of it. Therefore, she had to stay back and possibly help heal those that needed it eventually or to add support to the players. The next player up in the que was Macradon, a player she was unfamiliar with. But alas, he was the next readily available character to go.

With a short dash towards him, the woman pulled out one of her Damage Potions and struck him in the back with it. The vial burst coating his body with the red liquid as his damage output was buffed by +2.

"We will need to make sure what energy we have will last for the entire combat. If you have another high attacking AoE, save your energy until you can use it again." The woman offered some advice to the warrior as the red aura slowly dissipated off of him.

"If anyone else needs a damage boost potion on them, let me know. I'll be taking a few turns to recharge my energy!" the woman declared over the sounds of the grumbling and moaning of the Darkened Souls in the field of battle.

"Dammit, this isn't good." Jomei looked back as some of the players backed off, due to inability to attack for various reasons.. whether it be from their energy becoming exhausted, or the hardened skin of the souls absorbing most of their damage output. Jomei felt the sweat begin to accumulate on his forehead, worrying about the situation they were in. Just then, The newest player to the group, Zero, unleashed a powerful area attack, slicing down the HP of the larger group of souls. This was the small bit of confidence Jomei needed in the fight,as his worried look turned into a smirk. He then took a few steps back, spinning the sword in his hands. Activating his charge skill, the man took off with a cloud of dust kicking up behind him, heading straight for his target. In moments, his shoulder connected with the jaw of the darkened soul, tackling it and sending it soaring. He then followed up with his Over Radiation skill, piercing his gold glowing rapier into the body of the soul before spinning like a top into it, slicing and stabbing into its body. As his attack ended, the soul tumbled on the hard ground a couple of times before hopping back to its feet. "Alright.. these guys are on the ropes!" But little did he realize his own energy levels were nearing empty.

Macradon received a potion from Opal, a person he wasn't familiar with but was in his team. A damage increasing potion, he would thank her deeply and drink the potion. He had just done just a bit of damage to those darkened souls, but it was also because of the energy consumption his sword arts required and the amount of energy had available, so the damage increasing potion didn't do much now, but the time it was effective was still something he could use. He wasn't able to do anything of use. He could stun some of those that hasn't been stunned, but it would only give him a setback on the damage. Instead of waiting too many seconds on regaining his energy he would just back off after his attack on the primary darkened souls. As he turned his back to the darkened souls he felt an uncomfortable feeling going through his spine. He went into a stance he hadn't done before and his body moved by itself. The system forced him to turn around and use the momentum from dragging the blade from behind gave it a strong swing. Macradon hit one of the dark souls and made its health go down just slightly more. He would get out of aggro range, getting out of the combat so he would be able to regen his energy, away from the enemy.. He stood a bit far away, but still on guard if anything was to go wrong, though Daeron had the hate growing so he would be able to tank their attacks until everyone had enough energy to attack again.

The team had easily taken another one of the darkened souls, and they have easily avoided taking much damage. The girl knew that four of the six that was still alive could be easily killed without much effort, and that was what she is going to do. Rebekah was hoping that they could finish them off before they needed to rest, but since she a few players did not show up, well, they were forced to take a break, and she made sure for everyone else to take a break. A few of the players had stopped attacking, but that was fine, since as long as they had the five of them, they were not in any danger for the foreseeable future. The six souls attacked Daeron, but he was relatively unharmed when only two of them had struck him. Now, Rebekah made sure to kill one more of them before she was going to take a break, but wondered why was she the only person cleaning up kills as she had attacked three times and landed three killing blows.

There was little done to the rest of the Darkened Souls. Opal had used one of the last Damage pots she had with her on the player Macradon, every little bit of damage they could squeak out was necessary now as the battle continued to drag on. And thank to the heroic efforts of Daeron, the were safe from being taken over by the Darkened Souls powerful attacks. The woman had cleared her vision, moving inky black tendrils of hair with a free hand as she scanned the battlefield. Jomei had done what he could with the remaining pool of his energy and she went towards his aid, "Hey there. Nice attack! Here is a little something extra for when you can pull off another strike." The woman pulled from her inventory a red liquid vial and uncorked it with her ruby red lips. She drenched his rapier in with the potion as it exhibited a wild flare boosting its over all damage capacity. With that, the woman tossed the vial aside as it shattered into the wind.

Once more taking a slow defensive guard, the woman drew her blade and continued to conserve her energy.

Jomei turned to Opal as she commented on his attack, offering him a little boost in his attack power. Through his heavy breaths showing exhaustion, he smiled at her. "..hah.. thanks.. huh." he took a deep breath, straightening himself out as he stepped back from the battle. He would need to rest for a short while so he could get his energy back up to max. As he exhaled, he quickly stretched his arms and held his rapier out in front of him at a light angle, holding his other hand out at his side. "Things are starting to look in our favor.."

Macradon had retreated from the battle just for now. He didn't have enough energy to do anything, he just had to wait for his energy to regenerate. He wasn't the only one. Many in the party were in need of energy to dish out their sword arts. Daeron, who was tanking, did a really good job of tanking like that. He didn't take much damage and the hate he had going up . Macradon would just stand behind like the others and await his energy's regeneration. Most of the people in the group had low energy, but most of them were still capable of doing something with their energy, so we could at least still be going while Daeron was the big tank up front.

As she looked onwards, everyone was resting, while she had felt that all of them were sitting down resting while Daeron was still there tanking the 5 undead darkened souls, she knew that they needed to hurry up, but they could not speed this process up any faster. The last thing she wanted was to be given an earful by the tank after the battle about how everyone had ditched him, but she was sure that Daeron did not mind. Besides, Opal was the first one to start resting, so she would be back up shortly, while the rest of them, especially her was waiting until later to do it.

A light sigh escaped from a hooded figure that made its way to the party, it seemed to have been observing them from hiding for some time. The figure’s white cloak concealing their appearance, though it could be seen that they were female due to their figure and the lower half of their face remaining visible. A slight pressure began to set in the area as the unidentified individual neared the first few members who had retreated to safety away from the battle and moved passed as if they were not even there, heading directly towards the center of the battle against the Darkened Souls. A slight sound of disgust came from figure at the moment the creatures were in full view, their presence seemingly creating displeasure in the mysterious figure. “What a displeasing sight, seeing you all fret about like children is quite tiresome.” The figure pulled their hood back, revealing the face of a young woman, and pushed her cloak aside as she pulled out a slightly elongated, white rapier. It gleamed brightly in the light, its design simple yet elegant with various rose patterns covering its blade. “Wouldn’t you agree Nero? Don’t pretend you’re not there, I could feel you a mile away.”

She glanced back, over her shoulder, and passed the group of players. “I’ll leave them to you since you don’t mind dirtying your spears with the blood of insects. Here, I’ll even grant you an advantage with Rising Star. You’re Firebrand should be more than capable of taking them out now.” Her eyes caught the sight of an orange cursor, her hand instinctively reaching for her rapier but holding itself in place as she glared back to the supposedly hidden individual. “Hurry before I make quick work of the undesirable myself…”

  • 3 weeks later...

A slight laugh echoed when Unknown addressed the hidden man and proceeded to rush him into taking action. The male figure slowly spun a spear in his right hand while resting another on his shoulder with his left hand. He glanced at the group of players that had been fighting the souls so far, as well as th ones who had retreated to safety, and slightly shook his head at them before moving on. As the man moved on the pressure from before had begun to increase, a feeling of two invisible forces colliding setting in. He glanced over to the face he knew from the group and gave him a smirk before stepping up to Unknown’s side. “I wasn’t pretending anything Uni. I was just doing the same as you were, observing them quietly from a distance.” His eyes scanned the remaining souls then moved back unto the hooded woman, and gave her shoulder a gentle pat. “Though I’ll be sure to take care of these pests for you. What kind of knight would I be if I allowed a maiden to sully herself with the blood of such unpleasant beings?”

He took a few steps forward, slowly spinning both of his spears, and began to circle around the souls. “This is going to end way too quickly with Rising Star on, but I don’t think that’s a bad thing. They’ve been stuck on this floor for long enough.” He stopped encircling the souls and dashed at them, followed by a leap into the air. A split-second later a sequence of four bright flashes blocked what was occurring before the group, an assortment of slashes being head, and vanished as quickly as they came. Once the lights had died out all that remained was the lone man, his twin spears in hand, and bits of polygons scattering into the air. “Now how about using that replicator of yours and making sure all of these kids get a reward Uni. I don’t need that sword after all, neither do you.” He grinned at her with a confident atmosphere about him, both himself and the woman he addressed appearing to be inhuman

The party was becoming ragged and their blades were dulling. While they kept their spirits and morale up, it was not enough to cast the wool over their eyes that this battle might go a different way. Everyone was throwing everything they had at the Darkened Souls, but it was not enough. The group was energy starved having little or no energy left to use their sword arts, more importantly the ill preparation of the entire team of not having the needed consumables for such an enduring quest. Hope looked dimmed and they might have to escape the field of battle to save their own hides. But the change of events quickly occurred. Two players, unknown to the woman herself had found way through their ranks. In the forefront of battle was a woman and another player, both in which she had never laid eyes upon but looking very formidable. However, to know if they were allies or not was something to be asked about later.

They had a closed conversation, Opal only getting bits and pieces of what was said. The next moment the player with the dark raven locks proceeded to end the battle with his awe inspiring art. Opal stood frozen in place as she watched the battle come to a close, she had begin to wonder what exactly had happened? Her amber eyes scanned the field of battle. The other parties moving towards the front towards the cathedral to continue with the boss raid of the current floor. Opal sheathed her weapon into the ornate saya and swung it over her shoulder.

She ran forward and bowed her head to both of them, "Thank you very much for your assistance, I suspected that a grim turn of events was about to occur if you did not interject. My name is Opal and you have my gratitude, I doubt you should need it, but if there ever comes a time when you need help with something, feel free to message me." She looked back to the group of players who had found themselves just as surprised as she was. She cared little for the item in question, but the skill points were a much more desired gain. Thanking them once more, she rushed ahead along with the others soon they would face whatever it was to come.

Macradon would pant, the fight was over, help came from strange people Macradon didn't know, though their aid was needed. The party wouldn't be able to withstand too much more of the fight without their graceful movements. They quickly obliterated the darkened souls like nothing. Macradon would sigh in relief as the battle was cut off, though now the real deal was happening. The big floor boss battle. Macradon wasn't sure if he was ready for it, but he only hoped for his best that everything would go as planned and hopefully the vanguard frontliners would do their job like they they've been used to. Even though Macradon didn't do much, he at least helped to tick off some damage for the others, but it was still in vain as it didn't help his team enough.
