[F2-ALC-LV4] Beast Bane Brews

Urbus, a city flourishing in the midst of a heavily wooded area. Rimmed by the ridges of a dormant volcano, Urbus busies with the typical fare seen of a small village. Humble constructs of brick, mortar, and lumber pepper the streets. In this floor, rich with vegetation and alchemical ingredients lies Lycan's shop, Beast Bane Brews. Just as simple and quaint as the buildings that frame it on either side, potions and mixtures sit in the window for passersby to view. The hearty oak door opens with a jingle, the faint flicker of flame shining from a cast iron hearth in the far corner. Fur rugs of miscellaneous beasts line the floor and on each wall, racks of potions wait to be plucked for purchase. The midst of the room sits four leather chairs and a low, oval table in the middle - a place to rest, talk shop, or test wares.

At the immediate right of the door, a small counter juts out. A door behind the counter leads to a place known only to the shopkeep. Of which, the white haired youth waits, arms propped on the counter with a look of disinterest on his face. Various alchemical tools litter the space around him with a small interface at the far end. There, a small window waits for new orders.

Welcome to Beast Bane Brews.

On the first day of his brand new (semi-used) shop, the white-haired youth set out his various glass vials, mortars, pestles, and ingredients. With a crack of his knuckles, he flipped through the pages of Galli's Alchemy Manual and fingered through several recipes. His eyes came across an object near the back of the book called an "Alchemist's Pestle". According to Galli's notes, this cured, sealed, and micro abrasive pestle could be procured through a very specific treatment done to the standard pestle sanctioned to every new alchemist.

Lycan placed his hand against his chin with a nod.

"No time but the present," he muttered to himself.

Quickly, he set to work. With burners lit, flask bubbling, and ground ingredients dashed to the mix, Lycan felt confident he could succeed. In the final phase of the project, Lycan poured the two delicate mixtures together. The two red and blue mixtures swirled, bubbled, and set as a purple liquid. Lycan's eyes lit up with success!

Until, the glass flask shook, cracked, and shattered into a dash of deleted data.

"Damn it! So close!" he swore.

Firm in his resolve, Lycan set to work on a second batch. This time, he measured gram for gram, and milliliter for milliliter. Beads of sweat formed on his brow from the tension as he combined the blue and red mixture. Again it changed to purple and began to bubble. Lycan crossed his fingers.

This time, the bubbling stopped, and the liquid congealed into a thick syrup.

"Success!" he shouted to much of the disdain of the fellow customers as they passed by.

Quickly, the youth set his pestle in the middle of his rickety wooden stand. With a careful hand, he poured the thick ichor over the pestle. His eyes dashed to Galli's notes and instructed him to heat it to a red hot. Lycan gripped the coated pestle with metal tongs and held it over the low flame. The item glowed a red hot until finally, a prompt appeared.

Perfect Success!
Item Name: Alchemist's Pestle
Item ID: 49377
Creator: Lycan (Lv.1 Alchemist)
Enhancements: +1 CD
Description: A professionally cured and treated pestle
said to pull out the best qualities of ingredients
when used to grind them down.

Lycan's face lit up with a wicked smile. His luck ran high today and this was the perfect thing to get his shop started off on the right foot! Immediately, the boy set the pestle inside his alchemist equipment set. Tired, and with the sun dipping below the horizion, the boy stretched out and yawned.

Today was over, and tomorrow brought new opportunities.

Lycan held his hand up to block the morning sun. Another day meant another pass as improving his little stand's stock. Maybe he'd get something good, maybe he'd blow himself up? Who knows? The young alchemist reached beneath his stand and used his hand print to unlock the cabinet. He pulled out all the wares of his trade including the newly forged Alchemist's Pestle. He set them on top of the counter and fired up the burners. Water began to boil, and mixers began to stir.

The teen opened his menu with a swipe and selected a pair of herbs. He laid one on a piece of parchment and tapped it with the Alchemist's Pestle. The herbs shifted form into a powder to which he threw into the boiling beaker. He let it simmer for a moment to draw the essence from it and with a pair of tongs, lifted it. He poured the contents into a higher container with a series of tubes and flasks connected. The liquid drained through the system until it began to collect at the tip of a dispenser. Lycan placed an empty glass container beneath it and opened the valve.

Feeling confident from yesterday's production, the boy set up his equipment in a similar fashion. This morning, as the sun crested the horizon, the streets were sparse with potential customers. He had hoped for a least one interested client, but with only two wares sitting on his little stand, he understood the lack of interest. Instead, he took a deep breath, generated the last of his two materials, and began to run them through the alchemical process.

Lycan carefully opened the valve on his first batch, but the moment a droplet left the tip, a blast of smoke erupted. Once it had cleared, a fine layer of soot covered himself and his stand. Lycan coughed a puff of dust and found his equipment in complete disarray. With a deep sigh, he got to cleaning and setting the equipment back up.

On his second batch, the boy took more care in the process. He passed the fluid through the burners a little longer. When it got to the point of dispensing, the fluid came out as a thick, black tar. The process to filling the potion bottle was incredibly agonizing. When it was finally filled and capped, Lycan appraised the finished product. His face soured. The item's name was "Jar of Tar" and the description started off with the words "Do not consume!".

"Great..." he muttered. Yet, with a little luck, he tried to salvage the material. With a little refining in the boiling flask and run off, he was able to produce an essence usable in another pass.

Lycan quickly set to work on his third attempt. He rend the essence with some ether and extra heat, hoping it would become something usable. With his face foolishly close to the dispensing nozzle, Lycan turned the valve. The drop landed into the potion bottle and immediately evaporated. Lycan quickly turned the valve fully open in hopes of capturing some of the fluid. He slammed on a cap and held the bottle up to the light.

It was empty.

For kicks and giggles, he appraised it, hoping something useful was inside. Instead, it read: "Bottle of air - An empty flask full of the finest air one can breath... or is it just normal air? Who knows?"

Lycan let out a defeated sigh. Today was a bust. With sluggish movement and the sun dipping low, Lycan set away his equipment, slammed the door shut, and sauntered off with his hands in his pockets and head hung low.

Lycan greeted the day with an early start. Unlike the day prior, he hoped for better fortune. In his usual manner, he set up the beakers, flasks, and burners. He slipped his windows open to produce a varied trio of materials to work with. Even the teen raised a brow at the things on his table.

<<Wolf Fang>>
<<Ear of Rabbit>>
<<Boar Tusk>>

"Hoo, boy," he voiced. With a shrug, he got to work.

Smoke, bubbles, and mist erupted from his little stand until three completed items sat on his counter. Lycan looked at them with a cringe. One smelled absolutely vile. Likely no good to anybody or anyone. The one in the middle piqued his interest and his eyes widened at the description.

"That looks wild!" he commented, then his brow dropped in reaction to his statement. "Ha ha... very punny, Lye..."

He entered in a price and moved to the next one.

"Sweet mother of success!" Lycan exclaimed. "I could sell this for a pretty penny! Or... I could... rats... Need to be level 25. Oh well. Maybe a frontliner will visit my shop now! With the money from this, I could actually get my own shop!"

Excited by the notion, the boy fist pumped the air with a huge grin on his face. He quickly punched in a price and set it in his display stand. Then, feeling good about today, waited to see if someone would check out his new wares.

At the end of a long day of sniffing chemicals, singing hairs, and sweating under the high sun, Lycan produced several quality products. Today had been a good day. This time, he set his products aside to be named as his customers saw fit.

A girl with hair as golden as the sun rays was making her way accompanied by her white furred feline, or in absence of better terms... she was being 'guided' by the lioness through the marketplace of the first floor. Ariel was already used to this type of rebellious behaviour from her companion so that she was following her without even wondering where they went. It was a usual occurrence and even a nostalgic one as they were on the noob floor. She thought the end of the trip would be, as always a food stand or the teleportation plaza.

This time around she was happily surprised to end up at the steps of a modest stall. As Kimba started sniffing around the 'shop' the blonde walked towards the silvered haired clerk: "Good to see you're still around here. How are you doing?" said the blonde, trying to remember the guy's name.

"Why hello!" Lycan exclaimed. He remembered the girl as clear as if he met her the day prior. In a show that he didn't forget, Lycan turned his sleeve toward her that bore the tradeswoman's mark of the white crowned lion. Fittingly, she happened to be with the lion. This time, the boy didn't harbor fear for Kimba. Instead he waved as if the familiar was as important as any other player.

"I have been getting by. Were it not for your gift, I would have my name etched on the Monument of Life. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've been saved by this thing. Must be the blessing of the white lion."

Lycan smiled at the woman as he continued to pull out the tools of his trade. He set them along the length of his shoddy stand and propped his hands against the edge.

"What brings you by today Ms. Ariel? I don't have much, but if you like, you can take one of my potions free of charge. And for saving my life countless times, everything is 50% off for you whenever you visit!"

As he spoke, Lycan gestured to his current crowning achievement, the <<Saitama Ale>>.

The girl was actually happy to see someone proudly donning a product of hers. Her eyes fixated on the logo for a second then she looked at his, showing an enchanting smile: "Good to hear that it helps." at the mention of 'the white lion', Kimba raised her head and stared at Lycan, then gave a happy growl and nod. Looking at them the blonde chuckled:
"Whatever it is, I'm not complaining since it helps business." she said then looked at the indicated item: "I didn't do much to deserve it but hey, I'll take it. If you want to waste items on me, who am I to refuse." said the blonde, ending with a giggle. She read through the description of the Ale and found it rather useful: "Oh dmg increase? this would help me alot in the next boss fight! If you have more of those, give me a call and I'll come pick them, I'm always looking for a nice damage boost."

"Certainly! I actually have three more damage potions if you like! Usally 1,300 Col or 10 Materials, but for you, 650 Col or 5 materials," Lycan said.

Lye pulled the Saitama Ale off its perch and placed it on the counter for Ariel. This one would be on the house.

The blonde gladly accepted the ale and took even the other items."650 huh?" she muttered as she added a bit more col to that amount and pressed the 'Accept' button. "Why thank you!" Lycan commented. He smiled at the larger offering of Col. With this, he might be able to purchase some new gear or some materials from a hunter. Lycan hurriedly fetched the bottles from his under-stand safe and produced them on the counter. He shuffled through a few menus, input a few values, and selected a few droplets from his alchemy set into each container. Light possessed them as they changed form and appeared anew for his client. Lycan pushed the three bottles over to the edge of the stand toward Ariel.

"Here you go! I added a little flare to these as a custom value set just for you. Let me know if you like them!"

A new day meant new chances. Lycan bust out his little chemistry set and began cooking away his drugs, tonics, and feed goods. This day, the sun beat heavily down on his little stand. Luckily, with his first sale, he was already in discussions with the local traders to acquire a shop of his own. After a few more sales, he'd finally have enough to upgrade. Unfortunately, today was all about himself. After seeing Ariel take such an interest in his damage potions, Lycan sought out to make a few of his own. In fact, we was shocked that he hadn't kept any of his current wares. This had to change.

Two of his ventures turned into some manner of hissing goo which Lycan had no choice but to scrap. The other two, however, came out perfect. Two <<Beast Blood Elixir>> to which the teen gave a confident nod. Immediately, he pulled up his inventory and added the two items to his personal stash.

Now, with gloves at the ready and two damage booting pots, the boy was ready to spit himself some stone.

New day, new pots. Lycan winced as his eyes adjusted to the morning light. He wasn't a fan of early work or beating the worm to the bird... Or was it beating the bird to the worm? Whatever. Lycan rubbed the sand from a long night's sleep from his eyes and pulled out his alchemy wares with a yawn. Almost breaking a beaker or two, he lit the burners, set out for odd looking pieces of monsters, plants, and foreign objects, then got to work.

When drank, the elixir causes the user to sprout adorable cat ears, a cat tail, and fluffy cat paws. Item Type: Vanity Potion

Quality: [Good]

Description: This potion is actually shaped like a dog bone with a cork on one end. The container is clear and holds a creamy peach colored liquid. When uncorked, it smells absolutely vile and any attempts to drink it results in immediate vomiting. However, familiars seem to have an insatiable thirst for it and are drawn to its smell. Should they drink it, the familiar transforms into a humanoid version of itself. It still cannot speak, but it can understand its master. Sadly, this potion only works in safezones and becomes nullified when entering a field. The effects last for one thread.

As the sun began to dip toward the afternoon, Lycan looked at his spoils. Sadly, one experiment ended in absolute failure. In fact, it tried to crawl across the counter at him, but a splat of his hand put that abomination to rest. Of the other two, only one item seemed to have any practical use. With a sigh, the teen put all three on display. Hopefully someone would find them useful.

After the events in the back Alley of Floor one, Lycan could no longer do business in such a place. Having earned some col, he moved to the second floor and arguably his favorite floor. In the city of Urbus, he purchased a small vendor shop along the marketplace streets. Wedged between an eatery and a tailor, Lycan opened the Beast Bane Brews a second time. Today, his usual vigor and strength seemed devoid from his body and his actions. In the dark room of his crafting chambers, he quietly busied with ingredients. Poison oak, fang of a viper, scales of a basilisk... The teen quietly ground them into a muddy mess and sloughed them into an empty beaker. To it, he added a pint of medusa blood and flicked the flame beneath with a starter. Then, with the patience of a man who lost everything, he waited.

Leaving from the village's small festival, I wander around the area as I look for alchemist shops, intending on buying more healing potions. I have one in my bag, but even if I have a tower shield, I still believe that potions are very important, as they can be an emergency first aid liquid in dire situations.

Soon, I notice a shop that displays several potions at the window, the categories range from healing to buffing. Additionally, there is a cube crystal that can be seen sitting on the counter if viewed through the window. Without hesitation, I step into the shop known as 'Beast Banes Brews'. I immediately take notice of the vendor, who not only sports wolf-like eyes, but he seems to be either bored or he is in need of ultraviolence just like me.

Regardless, I begin approaching the counter and notice a bottle of some elixir being included in the inventory. The fact that it heals plenty of health satisfies me, and without hesitation, I take the potion and place a total amount of 300 COL onto the counter.

"Thank you, Lycan." I muttered as I walk out the shop.

Paid 300 COL for Elixir Of Vigor
