As he tried to lash out again the thief evaded his attack, switching instead to a different attack pattern before striking him along with its buddies for minimal damage. Again, really annoying when that happened, but if he had accuracy the fight would have been over by now. With sigh he waited for his health to restore and twirled his dagger in his hand in anticipation of the next move to be made. This was indeed the trickiest battle he had fought to date and it didn't seem like the end was coming any time soon.

"You all better hope I kill you fast!!!" He yelled as he went on the defensive now. He needed to conserve his energy at all costs and swinging blindly into the mobs was literally not cutting it. He allowed them to all take turns stabbing him with their knives. Honestly he didn't even care anymore. They weren't hurting him. He didn't need to care. What he needed to do was focus entirely on killing them and with a little bit of luck he would be able to finish them off.

But no. Of course things were never so simple. Just sitting there waiting for an opening was no fun. Maybe he should have planned ahead more. Brought a party with him. Not try to do everything on his own. Would that have made any difference? Would it have saved him from the predicament he was in now? He couldn't say. Thoughts like that wouldn't make a change anything anyway. He just needed patience. Control. The battle was still turned in his favor. He just needed to take advantage of that.

Now! Seul used Starlight Splash once more, following the motions until he reached his target. The already wounded thief fell as the flurry of seven cuts pierced its body and after the pixels cleared only two remained. They wouldn't take that lying down and instead of running chose to cut the knight with their own weapons for miniscule damage. Only a little more to go. He just had to push the enemy a little further and he'd be done with the godforsaken quest.

Raising his shield, he waited for their next attack, but was met with a familiar sensation as his body went limp. He had been stunned and wouldn't be able to act for a few moments. His vision was turning hazy and he couldn't quite get a good reading on the mobs, but there wasn't much to worry about due to his high defenses. After a minute or so he'd be back up and on his feet, hopefully killing off the other wounded thief and finally evening the playing field.

Despite being in a vulnerable state the thieves showed no intentions of attacking. Had they finally caught on to the futility of their actions? Maybe. Either way the opportunity was good for him to recover some of his health and energy that had been lost. "What a pain..." He mumbled. If he had brought someone like Macradon along the battle would be over in a flash. Perhaps there was some merit to getting a weapon like a two handed sword after all. The dagger wasn't exactly working out in a multiple enemy fight.

As the stun wore off he was able to get back to his feet and ready his weapon once more. "Alright! Let's finish this." He said while using Starlight Splash again. The third thief fell and turned to pixels just as the others did. Only one remained now and it was time for Seul to do what he did best. A duel to the death with the last NPC. The only thing that stood between him and victory. The thief hit him, but he simply brushed it off as the damage was low.

Seul just kept walking forward and once he was close enough delivered two more Cross Edges. The last thief's health fell bellow the halfway mark and with one more lucky strike the NPC would be dead. Finally. He wasn't out of the woods yet, but there was a light at the end of the tunnel. The thief desperately tried to strike him with the dagger but it only knocked off one point once again. It was hopeless for the enemy. The battle was too skewed in favor of the knight. And that was just the way he liked it.

He was going to enjoy this. First he took it upon himself to tackle the thief to the floor. Afterward he straddled the NPC and allowed his dagger to take on the glow of a sword art. The next moment was filled with terrified screams as 7 stabs connected with the man's face before he exploded into pixels. It was over. All the fighting. All the suffering. He had done it. Now all that remained was to find the kid and get him back to Ali in one piece... Or a few.

"Alright... Now where are you, you little [censored]?" He had taken a moment to catch his breath, but only just a moment as he wanted nothing more than to leave the cave and never see it again. After searching through the various rooms he eventually stumbled across a locked door. It wasn't too tricky to bust open though and inside sat the brother, Cassin, huddle in a corner. "Get up. I just went through hell to rescue you so I'll be damned if I don't get you back to Ali safely." The kid seemed confused but there was little time to explain as there could be more enemies lurking around. Cassin did finally get around to following though and with that they were on their way back to town.

By the time they left the hideout the sun was rising once again, but that wouldn't stop Seul from scolding the kid. "So I hope you learned something from all this kid. Don't go exploring thief hideouts... That's  like rule number one of exploring." Honestly, Seul was just glad the task was complete. It took a while but he managed to defeat the enemy and save the day. Playing hero wasn't as bad as it looked. The reward he was promised also kept him in high spirits throughout the whole ordeal. "Also your bro was worried sick about you. You should have saw him back at the tavern; crying and a drunken mess at the bar. You should both be thankful that nothing bad happened."

Maybe he needed to lighten up just a little. Cassin was still just a kid after all.  Kids are dumb. They make mistakes. Heck, he was bound to make a  mistake eventually. Some could argue that he already did the moment he decided to put on the NerveGear. The rest of the trip was spent in awkward silence. It wasn't like he wanted to be the boy's friend anyway. This was a job and if it was going to keep him out of danger in the future he was going to reprimand him for doing something so reckless. Just on the horizon he could see the town. The end was in sight!

From the seemingly nowhere two more thieves jumped out. "Cassin, stay behind me!" He yelled while raising his shield and drawing his dagger. Seul had had enough now and his the closest thief he could reach would take the full force of his Cross Edge, dropping its health to a dangerously low level. Enough was enough. Why did they even want the kid so badly? It was good question, but not one he cared enough about to ask them. He'd simply kill them and be done with the matter once and for all.

Two cuts was all it took to fell the wounded thief, leaving it as a one on one match up once again. He was in his element now and the thief would have little time to react before it joined the fallen. Just one more. One more. One more. The thought played over and over again in his mind and as the NPC tried to stab him he guarded with the shield, taking no damage as the weapon failed to pierce its target. "Ahaha.... AHAHAHAHAHAHA! COME ON THIS IS  NOTHING!"

His sanity was slipping and with it his aim. Wild swings in a frantic attempt to kill the thief left him wide open for counter after counter. But the damage was still insignificant. Forget focusing! He wanted nothing more than to steam roll the rest of the fight. He needed to get this over with. To claim the reward. To move on with his life and hopefully never see Cassin or his brother's faces again. It was all he dreamed of now. And he was going to get it one way or another.

He swung again but the Thief wasn't having any of it as the NPC simply evaded his blade just as the others had so many time before. "Hell no! I'm not going through that again. Stand still so I can hit you!" He yelled, but the plea was made on deaf ears. The enemy had no intentions of letting up and made that abundantly clear by how desperate it was with its own strikes. The thief would hit Seul for minimal amounts of damage, but each time he'd only come back stronger.

Eventually he did manage to land a clean hit with the Cross Edge and that severely wounded the thief just as much as it had the others who died soon after receiving the damage. Just had to push a little further and he'd be able to kill off the stupid thief. Why was the thief stupid? For challenging him of course. It picked a bad day to piss him off; between this quest and whatever else was in store there was nothing he wanted more than to take it out on some sorry quest mob.

"DIE!" He yelled while charging the wounded thief. He didn't even care if it used the last of his energy. The attack was enough to kill the last NPC and when it died he almost couldn't believe it. Above al else he needed to get back to the tavern and fast before anymore showed up. Once Cassin was out of his hair he wouldn't need to worry anymore. He would have fulfilled his task and would be on his merry way a little better off than before. "Come on kid, don't drag your feet!"

(Hero Route End)

"Brother!!!" was the first thing Ali shouted at the sight of his kindred, right before rushing to hug the one he thought off as probably dead. The emotional reunion scene would eventually end and when it did, Ali walked over and placed a large pouch filled with Col coins next to the knight. "I can't thank you enough for this. I won't forget what you did for me, please accept this as a small token of my gratitude." He added with a joyful expression. With one more "Thank you!" he went to his brother to celebrate his return with opulence. 

"Um... How did you get so much Col anyway, Ali?" his gaze turned to one of hesitation at the mention of the money and rather than try to answer he ultimately ended up leaving the tavern with his brother. At the same time, the Quest Ending Window popped up in front of Seul, displaying all the hard earned rewards from doing the quest. The col reward could act as potential proof that the 'cave of wonders' he talked about in his drunken state, when they first met could be real.

But then again who really cares?
