"Please! Don't attack!" cried a small fairy, he tiny hands held up to defend herself. In front of her stood a young man, clad in navy blues and deep maroons. His sword, Harbinger, hummed with Cardinal's assist system just inches away from the petite creature. With eyes stern, grip firm, and curiosity in his mind, he staved a killing blow.

"What are you?" The question left Lycan's lips like a command rather than a question.

"Sparrow!" the pixie cried out, fluttering her wings and hesitantly glancing at the edge of his weapon.

"Sparrow?" Lycan repeated, his voice softening but only slightly. "You're a fairy - just another monster to kill."

"No! Please!" Sparrow winced further, yet still hovered in place instead of fleeing.

Lycan narrowed his eyes. The hum of Cardinal's assist faded from Harbinger's steel and the swordsman lowered his blade.

"What do you want?" again, another command instead of a question.

Sparrow peaked at him through braced arms, eyeing the lowered blade.

"Help," she stated plainly. Hesitant, she lowered her guard, and Lycan could see the fear and desperation on her face. "Please..."

The swordsman looked around for any signs of another. His brow raised, he asked, "With what?"

"Please! My village!" Sparrow cried, fluttering closer to Lycan. He took a step back. "These... These things! They're killing us! They came out of no where overnight! I don't know what to do! You have to help me!"

'I've never heard a fairy ask for help before...' the platinum youth reflected. 'Why should I care? She's just a floor mob. Wait...'

Lycan narrowed his vision and activated the UI interface. A red marker should have hovered over the fairy's head. Instead, there was none.

'An NPC?'

"Please..." she pleaded, tears moistening her tiny green eyes.

"Fine, show me the way."

"Thank you!" Sparrow zipped and flitted about, her blonde hair whipping about in its braid. "Thank you so much! Hurry! Follow me!"

And without further notice, the little pixie darted off with novice swordsman hot on her trail.

Azure pools observed the scene from afar. Like a film, the scene unfolded; action from the very start. Intensely, she watched. Hanging on to each movement, as the words exchanged between the two silhouettes were inaudible to her ears. Hauteclere rested easy. Plunged into the field, as her weight rested atop it. She tried to make out the confrontation; however, the actions didn't add up. The platinum haired youth seethed with murderous intent, or so it seemed. The haughty aura around him soon faltered, and like a doused flame, smoked out as he spoke more with what Galilea assumed to be a monster to be slain. Her hesitance in confirming the claim was well warranted though, as she realized the creature offered no crystal befitting a monster; but rather one signifying her as non player character. Intrigued more so than anything, Galilea continued to watch the two; even going as far as to tail them, as they headed off towards an unknown location.

"Hurry!" Sparrow cried out ask she darted through the woods. "Almost there!"

The young swordsman trailing behind her struggled o keep pace, but where he couldn't keep pace by jumping over or weaving through, his blade cut a path.

"Oh gods! Adielle!" Lycan heard the pixie cry.

With a crescent swing of Harbinger's edge, the young warrior breached an opening. Trees crested with moss, glowing fungus, and miniature building fashioned from nature itself expanded before him. His eyes were drawn to the screaming of a tiny voice. Another pixie, pale skinned with a long wisp of midnight hair cried out as thorned vines constricted around her fragile form. The ornate wings on her back crumpled, snapped, and fell loose from her body in a trail of red pixels.

"Please! Save her!" Sparrow cried out frantically.

It was too late.

The vine which held her pulled close to what looked like the giant maw of a Venus Fly Trap. Its jaws opened wide enough to even swallow the young swordsman. With a flick, a short scream, and loud snap, Adielle was no more. Small motes of what Aielle once was, peppered the jagged teeth of the Mandrake.

"Adielle..." Sparrow sobbed.

More screams sounded, and Lycan's amber eyes fell on the horrors of five more Mandrakes descending on the fairy villiage. Whip like tentacles snatched frantic pixies from the air and one by one, and the winged beauties fell into the maws of floral beasts.

"Please..." Sparrow cried as he gripped onto the collar of Lycan's coat. "Save them..."

Lycan snarled at the scene. He knew they were nothing but data and mobs none the less, but he still felt pity for the fairy crying into his collar.

"Fine," he shooed Sparrow from him with a flick of his wrist. "Don't get in my way and stay out of sight."

Without waiting for her, Lycan dashed into the fray. Harbinger hummed with the Cardinal assist as he lashed out with a vertical (1 EN) strike. The plants demonstrated a startling reaction speed, pulling their slithering limbs from the path of the blow with lightning speed. With the same tenacity as they wrenched fairies from their homes, a volley of vines whipped out at Lycan.

Side stepping. rolling, and ducking, the platinum crested teen avoided strike after strike. The offensive of six Mandrakes against one boy cause Lycan to bite his lip in frustration. The longer he played defense, the more screams of fairies were silenced by death.

Eyes widened as the scene unfolded before her. Galilea stood, speechless and motionless as she watched the vines swallow NPC after NPC. Slowly but surely consuming everything the little village had to offer. The grip on her sword had tightened to the point her hand shook uncontrollably. Her eyes traveled from one devastating sight to the next, all until her gaze fell upon the you she had been trailing. She watched as he spoke with the NPC that had led him here. Suddenly he moved the pixie aside and lunged forward. He tore through the vines. Swiftly evading and maneuvering around the ensnaring verdant tentacles. Though all he managed to do was close the gap between them, Galilea couldn't help but applaud the white haired boy for his efforts.

However, her mental applause was soon silenced as it was cancelled out by her shout. Before she knew it, she was plunging head first into the fray right along side him. Light encompassed her blade as the system assisted sword art took form. As she stretched out her blade, the vines quickly receded; evading her assault.

"Looks like you could use some help," mentioned the blonde as she fended off the three mandrakes surrounding the boy.

"Thanks!" Lycan replied as he ducked under a swinging vine. He rose Harbinger to sever it in two, but the green appendage recoiled just in time.

"They're fast, be careful!" he warned as another lashing missed his torso by a hair.

The blonde seemed quite competent, if not more, than Lycan himself. She too wielded a straight sword but also struggled to land anything substantial on the creatures.

"Help! Please!" shouted another fairy as she was plucked from the air. Thorny green vines wrapped around her lithe frame, threatening to crush her. Tiny hands pounded and pried, struggling to get herself free.

"Damn," Lycan cursed. He threw his weight at a long section of the vine and pinned it to the ground. While he gripped it against his body, he turned to the blonde.

"Cut her free!" he shouted while praying the Mandrakes wouldn't take advantage of his prone position.
