[SP-F1] Gathering mats [Complete]

Recommended Posts

Dominion woke up on the side of the road, his back against the cold wall that stood strong behind him. He had just gone out for a run on the previous day, recently went and defeated mobs on this floor, and gathered stuff for some stranger. But, he needed materials in order to get perfect items from shopkeepers on this floor, the second floor, the third floor, and so on. Dominion stood up from his spot on the side of the curb and began running along towards the gate entrance/exit of the town of beginnings. He reached the gate after but a few seconds and began to exit. Just as a safety precaution, Dominion equipped his fist weapons and monkey king armor and made way for his search. He looked around as he exited from the main gates and looked to either side... there seemed to be very few players out and about at this time, so he stood much better of a chance at finding something worth while.

Dominion started walking forward along the dirt path with confidence, as the road which zigzagged along the ground would surely bring him good fortune. It had the waviness of the ocean, the realm of chaos according to some Italians he had met or the Chinese dragon, which was a symbol of divine right.  He took glances to both his sides, making sure that he wasn't missing anything. However, for a few seconds, he caught himself daydreaming about the real world, which was practically a completely other existence. He wondered how he was still alive, since he doubted his father had the means to pay for him. Dominion still pondered this like he was still new to gaming, excluding his knowledge which he had accumulated. Dominion began to recollect his thoughts about the many new people he was meeting in the game. Dominion needed more time to think, so when would be a better time than now?

Dominion stopped as he was about to think about the number of people he knew in the game. In the distance, Dominion thought he could see a small stone in the ground, which shined even without direct sunlight. I think I found the first Mat of the day. I only need to collect a few hundred more and I will be able to start up a business. Dominion crossed to the other side of the dirt path and raised his hand to stretch it behind his head. As he got closer to the stone, Dominion realized that it was lodged into the ground. Getting a stone out of the ground in the morning was the best time to do it, even if it may take a few strikes to break it loose from the grounds grip. Dominion was finally in front of the stond which was partially covered in some green stuff, which Dominion had seen in a park once before.

Dominion sat down on the colder ground surface. He extended his hands and unequipped his hand wraps, as he did not want to get them dirty. Dominion proceeded to punch the ground beside the rock with full force, leaving small indents on either side in the dirt. Dominion continued to do this until he had made a ditch around the stone, leaving it to be stuck underneath. Dominion stood up as he sighed. There was only one stone in this place, which meant he would need to leave and find another spot after he gets the stone from the ground. He moved his leg forward and kicked the ground. The stone shifted with the first kick, and by the second kick, the stone was completely dislodged from it's original place and rolled around in the semi-circle of dirt that surrounded it.

Dominion leaned down to grasp the stone with both hands. It seemed like a piece of steel, which may have gotten lodged into the ground from some fight, except that it would have dissipated if that were the case. Dominion really didn't mind if the steel had just been generated there on accident, but it still was rather strange. Dominion then stood back up as he placed the steel piece in his basket and looked around where he stood. Mobs were grazing, sleeping, or even roaming aimlessly in the grass. Dominion had flashbacks to the times when he would roam the courtyards of the monastary, where plant life thrived and the peacefulness of the nature was almost paralyzing. He gripped his fist tighter as he focused in on something else in the distance. He could not tell for sure if it was a item that could be used like a material, but why not find out right?

Dominion put one step in front of the other, taking rather large paces forward. The item seemed to be some sort of valuable object, but he couldn't quite make it out. As he came closer to the item, he could begin to make out it's general form a little better. It was a small piece of fold plating. Why is there steel and gold be spawned into the ground, unless the greater of the game had prepared for people to have the need for gathering all these kinds of items... Dominion thought as he leaned down to the ground again to inspect the gold plating. It had some etching on it already from something that even he could not read. The writing on this peace must not be useful. I will probably use it sometime and have whoever makes stuff with it change the text... or not care about the text when recycling it... Dominion placed his hand around the piece of gold and pulled it out from the ground.

Dominion began to rise from the ground and placed the piece of gold in his wicker basket. He then proceeded to think to himself for another few seconds before leaving in search of more mats. How do you recycle mats? I remember people in the Americas talking about recycling every once in a half moon, which is strange. Back in China, we reused things until they were no longer usable, but in the Americas, they still "Recycled things that shouldn't be reused. Dominion lifted his left hand and scratched behind his ear as he thought. So does that mean that I would be capable of recycling stuff in this game? If it was possible to do it in the real world, I don't see why it would be impossible to do it in this game... Dominion began to walk forward as he thought about this. He then caught sight of another thing, much further in the distance this time.

Dominion swiped open his inventory and placed the wicker basket there. All the items vanished from before his eyes, but there titles reappeared in his inventory. He then was unimpeded, and was capable to run as would usually run. He took fast and long strides over to that part of the grasslands. He keeled down and looked into the grass. A journal was there, one that was completely empty beside the words *My Last*. Dominion just shrugged, as he didn't know why a person would put those words on a journal, especially one that was of decent quality. He swiped open his inventory once again and placed the journal in his basket. Dominion then inserted the basked into his inventory again, as it was much easier for him to run while open handed. Once he saw the names of the items pop up in their correct slots, he scanned the environment around him once again.

Dominion scanned the environment around him, but caught sight of nothing significant. The sun was beaming from the forest line, several hundreds of yards from where he currently stood. Now, Dominion had heard of a creek in the forest lining, but he could not find one on any of his other adventures. It was time to go and find that creek. At a creek, I might be able to find fishing mats or random mats left from past adventurers. Dominion began to run towards the forest lining. He was quick to find a passage that lead a fair way into the forest, with little to no conflicts along the path. At one area, it appeared as though a tree was spawned in as a dead log, which Dominion just shrugged off as a person trying to mess with him from the real world. As he walked along the semi-dirt path, he stumbled upon something rather odd.

Dominion knelled down to be closer to the ground and found a metal tag. It was a necklace with someones name inscribed on it, probably from someone who had journeyed out to far. Dominion grasped the item with his hands as he swiped open his inventory. He inserted the necklace into the inventory, and amazingly enough, it was a mat. Must be for blacksmiths or something. Dominion stood back up and looked to his left and right. The general geography left him sorta lost, so he tried to go downhill. The creek would need to be going downward for the water to flow properly... So Dominion began to walk forward. He could tell that he was going slowly upward and realized that to either side of him, the ground was slightly lower. So to either side of me are places where a creek could dwell... I will go right then.

Dominion was walking to the right as he passed several trees, even though the path had a slight downhill feel, but that was the only lead which Dominion could go off of. He walked, taking careful steps forward so not to attract any unnecessary attention from surrounding mobs. Nepents could basically blend in with the environment, so he needed to keep an eye out at all times. Dominion took another step forward as the ground became smaller rocks, almost like pebbles. Dominion didn't realize what he was on until he stepped on something that was sharp. Dominion grabbed his foot and gave a quizzical look. A small piece of metal was lodged into his sandle, which was not meant to protect his foot. He grabbed the piece of metal and yanked on it. Particles of blood came out as he held in his hand an irregular fishing hook. That was when Dominion asked himself, Where am I?

Dominion suddenly looked around himself and realized that he stood in the bed of a dry creek. This creek was massive from the first glance, but he came to realize that it was so close to ground level. He looked from one side to the other, measuring out the width. It was rather extensive, however shallow. It seemed as though it was only a couple inches difference between regular land and this place. Dominion moved over to a rock to sit down, but was stopped by another small and shiny object. Dominion lowered himself to take a look between two rocks. He shifted one rock a couple inches off and picked up the object. It was some sort of coin, made of some sort of metal. It didn't look expensive, but when it came to finding mats, Dominion didn't care. All he cared about was getting the bare minimum to order supplies. Some of the supplies he would order would surely help out others, and maybe even save a life... possibly.

Dominion swiped open his inventory to place the item there and check if it was considered a mat, but he noticed a shine in the corner of his eye. A gleaming object was only a couple rocks away from the coin which he had just found. He stood up and moved a couple feet over. When he was above the area which gleamed of silver, he placed his hands down on the rocks. Pushing them apart, Dominion came in contact with a piece of metal. This was not ordinary metal, but a piece of a helmet. It shimmered in the sunlight as he grabbed it and yanked it too out from the ground. He held it and the other object a few seconds before he placed both in his inventory. Two rather lucky finds in one place, how incredible, Dominion thought this to himself as he stood back up again and began to turn to go the way which he had come.

Dominion had begun to turn himself around and walk the way in which he had come, but he noticed yet another thing in the rocks. He flinched as he thought it was something moving, but turned out to be nothing significant. He kept his eye on the spot as it did nothing but shine. Dominion finally gave in to his curiosity and walked over to the thing. It was a long pipe of metal, nothing more and nothing less. Dominion thought it was a rather heavy piece of metal for only being the size of his ring finger in length and width. He swiped open his inventory and placed the metal rod in his inventory slot. Dominion realized that the weight of mats didn't matter, since he would have already passed his carrying limit otherwise. Well, this shouldn't be too big of a deal... right? Dominion was still standing as he left that area and fully turned around.

Dominion was finally ready to begin his journey back to the first floor city. He made sure everything was prepared and began his march back up the gradual slope. When he felt as though he was on even ground, he turned left as he remembered very vividly going right as he came in. He turned left and thought he found something else, on the side of the tree. It was a stick, but looked much more valuable than that. It was carved from some sort of blade or rock, which was quite impressive by itself. Dominion moved out of his way to touch the stick, but upon touching the stick it shattered into dust. Dominion didn't have any words for what he had seen cross his eyes. Dominion lowered his lead so that he could look at the ground, since he was somewhat disappointed in the loss of an item. However, he perked up as he thought to himself.

That stick was a mystical sight indeed! For who, in a game such as this, could have such craftsmanship in woodcarving. I asked Macradon to help me make my staff, but it is plated in metal because that is the only kind of weapon that could handle the strength... So did that carved stick break because of my strength? I am not that strong compared to many people in this game, so who could have such fine craftsmanship, but be so weak? The questions which Dominion seemed to ask himself very frequently were only rhetorical. Dominion was still walking forward, but his attention was elsewhere. He passed by several different objects left from fishermen and adventurers, who may have gotten lost in the forests and died... or possibly couldn't conquer a simple Nepents attack. Either way, Dominion was too focused to notice anything.

Dominion suddenly stopped his fluent train of thoughts and began to recollect tunes from his household. One tune after the other popped into Dominions head as he walked. Dominion had begun to make his way to the entrance and exit of the forest lining. Dominion quickly walked around until he found the vague dirt path which lead out of the tree line. He pass through the split and found himself face to face with a boar. This boar was very much weaker than him, but that didn't make Dominion any less troubled. Dominion realized that the boar was currently in a peaceful state, which was not something Dominion could say he saw much in the real world. He was half tempted to take a squat and watch this boar roll around and graze in the grass. Actually, that was exactly what Dominion was doing, as if his body was on autopilot.

Dominion was now squatting only a couple feet away from a boar, which was just peacefully minding its own business in the grass. Dominion wondered how the boar could have a peaceful side when it was commonly depicted as a sign for war and rage. He just shrugged his shoulders and began to pick at the ground. For a very brief moment, Dominion thought he had found something in the ground right below him. However, Dominion came to realize that it was only a web that had been slightly wet from the morning dew. Dominion smiled when he noticed that the spider still lived, running along the web in a frenzy. Dominion contemplated standing up, and finally decided that he would stay at watch the boar for a few more minutes before actually going back into the city. Dominion remained, squatting in place and keeping an eye on the peaceful boar.

Dominion watched the boar stand up and eye him once again. Even now, the boar did not make a charge or attempt a strike toward Dominion. It just went back to grazing, not doing anything else. Dominion stood back up from his squat and popped his knees. Grabbing his arm and placing it across his body, Dominion stretched. He looked down and realized that something was below him, and slightly behind him. He turned around slowly and made sure not to step on it. It was a large feather, that found by a bird of prey. Wait... are there Eagles on the first floor? That means that the mob I wish to tame may be on this floor too! Dominion placed his hand on the back of his head and scratched behind his ear. How is there so much on this floor that happens and I miss? Maybe I miss stuff like this on all the floors I have been on... That is crazy.

Dominion finished his thought and picked up the feather. Does this item count as a mat? if so, I have found quite the collection on this outing. Dominion placed the feather in his inventory and sure enough, the feather was considered a mat. Well, this is quite the find. Dominion looked up to see that the boar was now standing and staring directly at him. Dominion shrugged and began to leave, knowing fully that he must have been intruding on the boar's space in some way. Dominion left that location and began his trek back. He walked slowly to catch sight of players using spectacular abilities and fighting styles on different mobs, just to level up and save there own lives. Dominion thought he saw one of his past friends fighting a boar, one that split from him on the starting day, but decided to stay quiet as his friend was concentrating on his own battle.
