Damien looked at the quest board in the <<Town of Beginnings>> eagerly. Of course, there were the quests that were sent to players automatically and shared via news feeds, but there always seemed to be some easy but reward granting quests at the square's quest boar. And today-Damien felt he had found a pretty good one. The quest looked very appealing. And he probably wouldn't have to fight any hard mobs to bring the person to the raid base, being it was a quest recommended for level one players according to the game. But Damien knew that quest would be very boring on his own, simply walking around with a (in which the quest suggestive) talkative NPC. Nah, that wouldn't be fun.

Damien then turned to look around, realizing he had been standing at the quest board for quite a while. There were not too many players in the town's square, for what there normally was. It could've been due to the recent unlocking of the floor twenty. The fact that people were continuing to go up on the floors was beginning to give people on floor one hope, so the players that once cowered on the floor were now starting to scatter among the floors. Damien was fine with that, though, because it made floor one much less cramped.

Katherine Zekk, or in Sword Art Onlie, Eatos, wandered around the town of beginnings all the while humming to herself. It was the tune she'd always hummed to herself, and slowly her mind began to wander around and about, her body walking on auto-pilot. That was, until the girl nearly ran into another player and she shook her head several times, turning her amber eyes onto him. The fact alone she'd nearly run into him was embarrassing, after all, the town wasn't overall that busy, meaning she shouldn't be able to run into them.

"I'm sorry, I didn't look where I was talking" she said to him, apologizing for her absent-mindedness before turning to face the board. She'd heard of it, where you got quests and leveled up. Katherine knew she wasn't capable like the people who fought on the front, who were clearing the game. But she felt useless, sitting, trapped almost, on the first floor. Even if she wouldn't be fighting the bosses, being able to level up and help in another way, was her aim. That's when she spotted it, the 'Escorting Nobility' quest. A simple escort that was recommended for level 1's? The box popped up in front of her, but she hesitated. An escort would be fine, except it required her to fight....And she didn't feel confident in not dying.

Stryder wandered around the town of beginnings, trying to find a quest he could do. He... didn't have much luck. As he walked he kept vigilant, he was in a safe zone, but he still had to be careful. He was trying to find something to do, and suddenly he started thinking about just how messed up this was. SAO was meant to be a game, but its just.... now it was his life. He sighed. The people on the front lines, thats who he wanted to be. Despite how dangerous it was, he wanted, no, NEEDED to get to those floors and help clear the game. Otherwise, he wouldn't be helping all those who need help.

As he walked around, he eyed a quest, 'Escorting Nobility'. He had heard of these, randomly generated quests by a board for any poor soul. He knew he needed experiance to get him to the front lines, to where he could help others....and this seemed like a good place to start. He noticed that their were two people standing together, by the quest. With a gulp, he walks up to them.

"A..re you two doing this quest?"  He asked, the quest menu appearing in front of him. Accept, or decline.

Upon looking around, Damien turned his attention back to the quest. Well, I guess I could do the quest on my own- Damien was bumped into by someone, turning his train of thought off the tracks. He turned around to see a woman about 3 inches taller than him.  Damien then continued to focus his attention back at the quest board, expecting the person who had bumped into him to simply walk away without saying anything or any kind of apology. That's what everyone does to me, anyway. No one really has a reason to say sorry, especially to a level three newbie.

But Damien found that, she in fact was not simply going to ignore it. He listened to her words and waited a good five seconds in astonishment before speaking. "... No that's okay! Don't worry about it." Damien had found it odd that she had said 'talking' instead of 'walking', but eh it made no difference.

Damien found that the women had then diverted her attention to the same quest that he had been looking at. He then looked back at the quest, not wanting to stare. Why the heck did she talk to me... But yet, then Damien's ears picked up another person's voice, asking them if they were taking the quest that he had been looking at. Damien stared for a moment again, before finally responding. "Ummmm....." Damien looked over at the women, expecting her to say something. Or, rather, hoping she would say something. or maybe she wouldn't say anything. "I was... checking out the quest." Damien finally gave a real response, worried that the woman might not respond to the guy.

Eatos looked back and forth between the two males that had arrived. The new arrival had asked if they were going for the quest, but there was no ‘they’ between them in her eyes. Although, as she allowed her mind to think, the more it seemed beneficial. 3 of them, even low levels, doing a quest designed for a level 1, would made the quest more than safe. Her odds in her favor to survive was something she liked, before she eventually nodded her head at both the boy who was here before her, as well as the new arrival.

“I was looking at it also” she said softly, smiling at them “I-if I may, perhaps the three of us could embark on it together?” She suggested. She wasn’t certain about splitting, that being, if they would get less rewards, or the enemies would be tougher, given 3 of them were doing the same quest together. But even if they got less from it, it was a start. While not an expert in this style of games, even she knew that at a lower level, you didn’t need my experience to be able to level up. And these type of small quests were a perfect place to start!

He instantly felt stupid, he didn't even KNOW these people... and he had just come up to them asking about them doing a quest. He mentally hit himself, worried as he looked at the menu. It was a escort quest, recommended for level 1's, meaning he was the right level to do it, and since it was recommended to level ones he could solo it.... though he might die depending, he hadn't been in a fight yet, and he had no idea how they worked.... He was about to press accept, and was planning to walk off and do it on his own.

Then the girl suggested they do it together as a team, though it was strange because he thought he recognised her voice. He looked at her, noticing he had actually met her before, he shook his head, keeping his mouth shut. He hadn't really... became her friend, so he didn't want to seem rude... but he wanted to.

"T..that seems like a good option....' He said, pulling up his menu and finding the party bit, opening it and throwing Eatos a invite to his party, then he looked at the other guy, Damien, sending him one to.

"We have the best chance of doing it together...."

Damien gave a great sigh of relief with the girl saying something, taking the other player's attention off of Damien and putting it on her. But at the suggestion of the three of them taking it together - Damien didn't know quite what to say. Then the other player confirmed that they should, saying it seemed like a 'good option'. The player then preceded to send a party request to both Damien and the girl.

".... Yah that... Sounds like a great idea! We can do the quest together." Damien had not really talked to anyone else in the game yet, so the whole feeling of it felt very awkward. How long has it been since I talked to a real live person rather than an NPCBut then the party request came up, Damien reading over it. Stryder, eh? That's a cool name. Damien then selected the blue circle, seeing as he did not have much a choice now. Damien then pulled up the quest back up and selected the blue circle. Now all they needed to do was go find the NPC.... But upon clicking the accept button on the quest, a small map appeared with the location of the NPC on it. It showed the NPC as being in a mansion not too far from where they were at.

Just to make sure he had accepted the quest right for the party, Damien looked back up at the other two. "You guys have a map and it shows you are taking the quest, correct? Just making sure."

Katherine wouldn’t lie to herself, she was actually excited when they both seemed to agree with her about grouping up. The main reason was simply she didn’t feel confident doing the mission by herself and not getting killed, and she promised herself that she’d survive no matter what. With two others, surely they could help her fight right? The combat system didn’t seem too complicated, but she’d rather not find out it was and die because of it.

As her mind wandered to the combat system, she moved a hand onto her hip and traced over the blade that sat there. An Iron Rapier, a thrusting blade, a dueling blade. She smiled slightly, seemed her fascination in history wouldn’t ever die huh? Her idle mind was forced back into reality when a party invite appeared, offered by the name of ‘Stryder’. This caused her to frown, that name…was familiar, yet she couldn’t place it why. Blaming it on her imagination acting up once again, she pressed the circular blue button and checked out the other person. ‘Damien? I’m sorta jealous, he has his real name almost…’.

Once again she allowed her mind to roam, until Damiens voice awoke her, causing the girl to shake her head slightly. He was mentioning a map, and it took her several moments to realize she hadn’t acception the escort quest! She quickly brought it up and accepted it, and just like Damien said, a map appeared pointing, closeby?

“Y-yes. I see it. It’s nearby I think…” she said softly.

Sky hid a small smile under his black neck long hair as he saw two new health bars appear under his own. A... Eatos and a Damien. He liked both the names, though Damien sounded like a bit of a devil to him. He started zoning out, the thought of 'devil' bring his old bully to mind, though he got snapped out when he heard the quest question. He quickly opened up the menu for the quest, then he saw the hostile part. He had read it before, though paid it no mind. He accepted it, noticing the small bit of map data he got for it.

He hadn't really... practiced the combat system much in this game, and he was still learning, though he had a feeling it would be easy. He had grown up fighting, and if this was anything like the real world, which so far it had been pretty similar, he guessed he would learn quickly.

"Yeah, i have the map data, i think she is in a mansion of some kind, bet their is a big col reward for this quest"

Damien smiled as he looked at the girl's name. Eatos. Makes me want to eat some Cheetos. Man am I hungry. Damien listened to them as they both responded that they had accepted the quest and could now see the map to the NPC's place. Well, or rather palaces. Mansions were very majestic in that manner. "Heh yah let's hope for a high col reward! Hopefully we get a bit of skill points from the quest as well, though. That is what I really need right about now...."

Damien continued to think about how much of an idiot he was for not placing his first skill points into a weapon; Rather, Damien had placed said skill points into his battle healing skill. While the skill was effective at making him almost invincible to all floor one mobs, it also meant it was always going to take him so much longer to actually kill mobs.

From the way the map was laid out, you couldn't tell the height of buildings, structures, etc. due to it being a 2D map with just circles and paths and such. But upon Damien looking around, he was fairly sure he had already found it. Turning behind him, Damien noticed shops that did not stand too far up, and not far at all in the distance a large mansion. Checking back with the map, Damien looked down at the map to be sure it was the correct one. What Damien found? It indeed was the correct mansion. (I mean, there ain't too many mansions lying around on floor one.)  Comparing the map to his view, Damien discovered that they would need to go forward, take a left, take a right, and take another right to get around the small street of shops. But he didn't feel like saying that all..

Instead, Damien pointed at the mansion. "That's it, right there."

Katherine had to agree with Damiens point. Money, or Col is Sword Art called it, was critical. She knew that all too well from real life, so that was, without a doubt important. Along with experience points and skill points. She drew her Rapier and looked at the blade, smiling slightly. While it was true that the first skill points she used was on the Rank 1 Battle Healing, which would make her harder to kill, it also meant she didn’t have any offensive abilities to speak of. Although, with 3 of them in the group, she was less worried. Between the 3 of them, they’d have enough damage to stack onto a single target, and assuming they weren’t completely overrun by enemies, she felt, confident.

Hearing Damien point out the location of the location of the mansions, and with it, the NPC they were sworn to protect, she looked. It wasn’t a direct route, but how hard could it be to find? She realized, after asking herself the question, that she shouldn’t be the one to answer it. After all, each time she started walking her mind began to wander…

“Very well, should we get going…?”

Sky had a small smile, though he hid it under his hair. He wanted to try and be cheerful and get to know these two, but he decided to just stick to the back of the group. He opened up the map, looking at the path. Straight, Left, Right, Right...  That seemed like the path they had to take. He looked at the mansion that Damien pointed out, then looked at the quest marker. It was indeed the right mansion. He sighed, wanting to get this quest over and done with. As much as he wanted to meet new people, and get to know them, he knew that in the end, he would be on his own, and that meant he had to be ready for it as soon as he could.

"Its not that far away...." He said with a quiet voice, just enough for them to hear though. "We just need to go around the shops then to the mansion... then escort our vip..." He said, his voice sounding semi confident. He didn't want to die, and despite this being for level ones, he was still worried that he might die, if he died.... he would really die.... He quickly shook his head, focusing and calming down.

Damien listened to the other players, Eatos and Stryder, while he stared at the mansion. His mind was lost in thinking about other things. If we get this done quickly, it should give us a good number of skill points. I will probably save up these points to put into my battle healing or one handed straight sword skills, and just increase those for now. At least, that's what I think I'll do. Damien knew once he leveled up, he was going to have access than more than just the two skill slots he had available beforehand. But he wasn't exactly set on what type of build he was going to go for just yet. He was going to need to learn more about the combat system before inputting the skills, as once inputted they were said to be unable to relocated.

Damien's head turned back to the ground and stared a bit more before finally deciding they should get going by now. "Well, let's go ahead and get this out of the way, team." Upon saying the word team, Damien felt an odd feeling. It wasn't a bad one, that was for sure, but Damien didn't quite know what it was. Hmmm... At least I'll have someone to talk to. Damien began walking the directions he had stated forward to get the mansion.

Team? Eatos raised an eyebrow at the word, were they a team? In her eyes they were allies of circumstance, all acting selfishless to get what they wanted, and if someone came along to help they wouldn’t say no. But she, if she was honest with herself, wouldn’t call herself Stryder and Damien a team. Or at the very least, not in the traditional sense of the word. But she wouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth, if they wanted to help her, it was help she was more than happy to accept.

She began following Damien, who began the walk towards the NPC Naomi. Her mind went back to the quest, it had mentioned combat, although she couldn’t recall the number of enemies they’d be required to fight. She hoped it wasn’t much after all, and with three of them….Well, she just had to have faith that she’d be successful in keeping enemies off of her while attacking. She knew bits and pieces of target selection of monsters, although she would feel safer if she fully understood. The less opportunity to have monsters attacking her, the safer she’ll be.

Team..... that was a word he didn't hear often. Most of the time it would be him against the world, him against a whole gang, alone, with no help from anyone. Team... it had a nice ring to it, though he knew it wouldn't last forever. He wished it would though, he really needed someone who could help him at all times.... when he needed it. He looked at the girl, Eatos, who he had a feeling wasn't the most... taken by the word.

He just walked along towards the VIP's house, not saying much or really,  well, acknowledging anything. He was glad that he had others with him, would increase his chances of surviving this stupid quest. He just wanted the XP and col, he had no use for anything else they might get. He guessed he could sell them.... Sky shook his head, then looked at Damien, wondering how good at this he actually was, i mean he seemed experianced... Sky kept it to himself, wanting to see first hand before he asked to be taught.

Damien watched Eatos and Stryder as they thought about the way he referred to them as his team, before he finally began walking towards the mansion. It was a quiet path to it, The other two kind of keeping to themselves during the walk and Damien doing the exact same, as they thought about other things. As it seemed, the other two players must not have been in parties commonly either, as they all just were too quiet for that. Heh, at least we should all get a level after this. Who knows? We may meet again. Damien continued walking as he thought about how easy and simple this quest was for the amount of skill points they were going to get. Believe it or not, three skill points was actually an amazing amount of skill points for a quest as simple as this one, at least Damien thought. All they would need to do was get to the raid base of <<Tolbana>> safely, while only fighting super weak <<Boar Pups>> on the way, which would be no trouble at all. If anything, Damien knew the party could handle much, much, much harder mobs, even if the other players were lower than Damien, and if stuff did go wrong Damien had potions.

Before he knew it, they were at the mansion, the NPC <<Naomi>> leaning on a wall of her mansion. "Well, here we are guys. Let's do this."

The walk to where Naomi was waiting for them, in Eatos’ mind, was uneventful. The town of beginners was safe, and if the girl was completely honest with herself, boring. It wasn’t that she disliked the town, she enjoyed the safety it brought to her, but she never had been that good at paying attention to her surroundings. As the trio walked, she allowed her mind to roam. At first it fretted over the possibilities of what monsters they’d run into, before she allowed herself to dismiss the danger. There were 3 of them all doing a level 1 quest, surely it would be fine?  If she was trying to do this quest on her own, she might worry, but with three of them, she felt ssafe.

With the threat of death warded off, her roaming mind explored worlds while the girl started to hum, and after only a short time, shifting her humming into singing. She opted to singing the same line on repeat, her voice shifting in pitch each time.

“You, are the oceans, grey wave. Destined to seek, life beyond, the shore” her voice came out soothing, but each time she finished the line she shook her head as if unhappy with how it came out, before trying it again slightly different. She didn’t sing it loudly, just slightly louder than her humming. She was dragged out of her daydream, not by any volition of her own, but rather, Damiens voice. Her singing cut off immediately as she spotted an individual leaning against a wall and the quest marker leading to her. Was that, Naomi?

“Let us begin” she said in agreement, nodding over at the boys in the party.

The walk through town was boring as hell. The Town Of Beginnings was to safe for him. He enjoyed having a little more... well excitement. He wasn't sorry he couldn't be hurt here, he was insanely grateful for it, but he wouldn't mind getting out and seeing how this world worked better. They were doing a small level one quest, it was easy and simple. The monsters would be easy, and with three people, Naomi will be fine and safe and they would get paid.

Then he heard Eatos singing. She seemed... well really unhappy with it as she shook her head each time. He couldn't hear it much, but it was sweet from what he could hear. Then he heard they were here, just before he said something..

"Oh.... guess we are.... Lets go!" He said approaching the NPC.

After the other two players were in agreement, the party walked up the mansion's stairs. The stairs were of many, but Damien had definitely seen more. Turning to look at the other two players before facing the NPC, Damien smiled. It was truly nice having a party with him. Having a team. "Hello there!" Damien said to the NPC"Are you Naomi, the person who sent the quest for an escort to the raid base of Tolbana?"

"I am indeed Naomi," The NPC said. She smiled as she looked at the party. "Are you all prepared for the trip?"

Damien turned again to the other players, nodding to them. "We are ready to go if you are!" Damien let a bright smile play onto his face again, still in thought about his new 'team'. This is gonna be awesome.

"Before we leave, I was wondering, were any of you guys hungry?" A bit startled by the question, Damien looked to his 'teammates' for a response, not knowing if they wanted to take any longer before going on the quest or not.

Naomi was just, there leaning against a wall?! Eatos has expected the NPC to be within her mansion, not leaning against it in the street. Although, it was then she reminded herself that, despite being trapped, the NPCs were just, code. That’s all they were, and it would be near impossible to expect them to act like people.

At the mentioning if they were ready, she nodded her head in agreement. She felt confident enough. She drew her Rapier from her waist, moving the blade in the air examining it properly. In her eyes, the Rapier was a stunningly beautiful blade, not only for its sleek design, but its long and rich history.  A duellists blade, one to be wielded with grace and precision. At least, that’s how the blade worked in the world beyond the game. If that would equate to SAO however, she wasn’t sure.

Although, she found herself taken aback when the NPC offered her food. She didn’t ordinarily say no to food, even when she wasn’t particularly hungry, but today, she just wasn’t feeling it. She shook her head, but didn’t give a verbal response.
