F1 -- Learning to Sew (Earning A Living)

Recommended Posts

For the longest time, well.... since he had helped Eatos with becoming a blacksmith, he had been thinking about his own career. He had no idea on what he wanted to become before, but now he did. He had seen players walking around with clothing that looked cool, and light armor that looked protective, but not to... well, heavy. Whenever he played games he had always gone with a lightweight class, and if he got to a higher rank in tailoring, he could make himself that armor!!! He had a weaponsmith... he might be able to be useful!!

Looking around, he tried to find somewhere that he could accept the quest, just like Eatos had, and before long, he found a tailor. He smiled, walking over to him.

"Hey, can i learn?" He asked, his words triggering the quest.

"You want to become a tailor? Alright, well first things first is you need something you can use. Find some leather, cotton, wool, anything like that, and bring it here. Then il teach you"

With that, his quest log updated, and grinning, he left, heading out to find some cotton.

Heading out into the forest, Sky looked around. He needed cotton.... And he had a okayish idea of where to look. He might be able to find some on the outskirts of the town, possibly there could be some cotton trees there? He searched around the town, trying to find some trees but failed to find one. Sighing, he headed out towards the forest, now having to actually search the forest for one. He wanted to find some cotton, craft a cool jacket for himself, and start earning some col!!! He was going to spend the day finding as many Mats as he could.... though he knew it was going to take some time. He had always been fascinated by how the VR world worked. He could kill a mob, and for all the world cared, he wouldn't get anything. He could kill the exact same mob a day later and get a rare drop. He wondered if that was how the crafting worked to, all by change. He guessed it was, but he would just need to find out.

As he entered the forest, Sky looked around, trying to see any cotton tree's, or anything!!! But he failed to even spot a simple bit of string. He sighed, not having much luck yet. It was early in the day, he could find something soon. He continued to search, going deeper into the woods. He started to think about what to call his shop, considering he planned to open as SOON as possible. Right now he was thinking something to do with a fox.... Or panther. Maybe something likes 'Fox's Reside', or 'Guiding Light'. Any idea he came up with sounded either to intimate or just....well didn't work for a shop name. Groaning, he continued searching, hoping to find the inspiration he needed soon, before he gave up entirely!!! One issue he always had was he need inspiration. He needed to see something to actually find a name or an idea. He had a hard time actually coming up with it on the spot.

As Sky looked through the forest, he once again failed to find anything worth while. He groaned, wanting to just take some anger out in the world. He started to look around for other materials other than cotton, as it seemed that he might not be able to find anything. He wanted something that could just............. be used for material!!! He wanted his profession, he wanted to get a shop up and running!! He wanted to be able to help his guild, he wanted to be able to actually help the lower levels. He had a goal now, and nothing was going to stop him. He was going to open a shop, he was going to help low levels get something useful early on. He was going to help clear the game... no matter what. He was determined, he wanted to get people home, he wanted to keep people safe... nothing was going to stop him. He wasn't going to stop.

Looking around for more materials, Sky once again comes up completely empty, his luck still staying down in the dumps. He groaned, yelling out as loud as he could, and looking up, seeing some birds flying away. This world really was beautiful, and the more he saw of it... the more he just wished he could stay. It was amazing what they could do in this world, it was amazing with how much was actually avaliable!!! So much more than he could see in his real life. But he had people, his family, he needed to get back to them. They needed him. He knew that the game had to be cleared.... He just wished it didn't. But he knew his goal. Others had family to, he couldn't be selfish... he had to get those he could home. He imagined how everyone else must feel, not having seen their family in... ages... No people they actually knew... Sky was lucky not really missing anyone like taht, other then his parents.... but still, he felt sorry for them, and wanted to help.

Sky was starting to get frustrated. He was unable to find anything.... this forest was empty!!! There was NOTHING here at all, no animals, no materials, no hostiles, no people. Just peace, tree's, himself, and his thoughts. It was just turning into a dead end, and he was sick of it. Sky groaned, turning around to walk away when he tripped over something. Looking on the ground, after of course, rolling over, and on the ground he saw a piece of leather. Sitting up, he touched it, and suddenly, it appeared as an item. He was so glad, he had finally found a material he could use for his quest!!! Now all he had to do was try and find some more, but at least he had found something. He smiled, standing up and pumping a fist in the air, glad no one could see him right now, otherwise he would be embarrassed.....

Rejoyced by his find, he decides to stay longer, trying to find some more so that he can try crafting a few times. He went back, looking where he had found the leather and looked around, hoping to see more, though he fails to. Sighing, he starts walking deeper into the forest, preparing to search for some more materials. As he walked, he got the strange feeling he was being watched, though he couldn't tell if it was just his suspicion or if something was actually there.

One down... Il try and find at least three, that way if i fail il have two more chances

As thinks, he looks around, keeping an eye out for anything that he might find useful, wool, cotton, more leather. Anything. Tracks that could lead him to more leather or food. Something that he could use to get this quest done.

Sky continued to look for materials, finding less and less motivation as he walks. He tried to observe the scenery, but slowly his anger and depression was taking over. He had just found a material, literally five minutes ago. But that had been after like twenty minutes of searching, and now, he seemed to have hit a dead end again. Sighing, he walked back the way he came, realizing he was lost!!! He didn't know where to go, what to do, or... anything. He was simply lost in the forest!!! Groaning, he slumps against a tree, pulling his sword out and just holding it. He couldn't wait till he got his custom sword, he had it all planned out, how it looked, its stats, all of it. He was excited. He had the sword 'Guiding Light' right now, custom sword he had his friend Eatos make him, but he had ordered another sword before hand. He wanted both, in case he met someone in need he could give the blade to, and keep his goal alive.

As sky looked around, he noticed how quiet everything was... it was so peaceful. He was leaning against a tree, and had been walking all day, and he was getting tired. He decided to dose off, just for a few minutes. Closing his eyes, he listened to the world around them. It was peaceful, there was nothing around that would harm him, nothing that could make him worried. Except for when he heard something fall out of the tree. With life threatening fear, he leapt up, grabbing his sword and looking next to where had been... Only to see a piece of bark. Hoping something would be in it, he looked inside, but nothing was there, once again being on a wild goose chase, a goose chase that was going to take him deep into the forest, where wolves, bears, and who knows what else lurked!!! He sighed, knowing he had no choice.

Groaning, Sky walked in one direction, now just wanting to leave, and guessing the easiest way to do that was just to walk in a straight line, at one point he might finally get out of here. As he walked, he kept seeing stuff that might be able to be used as a material, though each time he saw something, it was just a leaf, or something unusable. He sighed, feeling like he must have been out here for hours, wandering through this forest alone. In truth, it had only been about an hour, but time seemed to fly as he tried to find materials. So far, he had found one bit of leather that he could use to make a jacket of some kind, if he was lucky it could be an enchanted jacket that might deflect sword blows... though he seriously doubted it.

Sky flops on the ground, sighing as he once again failed to actually find anything in the forest. It was a struggle, as if all the leather, cotton, wool... sheep! Everything in the forest had been taken, killed, eaten, used, and not recycled. He groaned, right now just wishing it was as easy as buying it, but other then being broke as hell, and having no way back home yet..... not that he had a home in this game yet. He wanted a house, but they costed insane amounts of col, amounts he doubted he would ever get to... at least not until he got his shop up and running. With that, he had more motive once again, though slowly was running out of ways to self motivate. He was getting bored, just trudging through the dam forest in search for more leather... it was never ending!!!

At this point, Sky had nearly given up on getting a job, he wasn't finding any materials at all. Though by some dumb luck, he found another leather carcass. He tapped it, just like the other one, and he got another leather hide. He was finding it strange however, as to why there would be leather just thrown about on the ground... He knew something was in this forest, but he only had one more material to get before he left and had what he needed. He was so close, and he just hoped whatever was in these trees wasn't bad. He accepted the item, before pulling out Guilding Light, a sword his friend Eatos had made for him. He knew it would keep him safe, and he planned to let it, just like the sword would protect the others it was passed to

With Guiding Light drawn, Sky walked through the forest. He knew what was out there, or at least, he suspected he knew. He guessed wolves were about, what else would be eating and leaving leather on the ground for him to pick up. It was a good thing that he had this sword, he suspected he would be able to take down the wolves with a single hit... he hoped. He had no idea how many of them their were, but he was determined to get his last material and get out of here, before he became lunch meat!!! As he travelled, he could hear the footsteps of the wolves, sounding like two of them. He had a feeling they might pounce soon, but when, he didn't know. He had a rank one in Sword skills, and one of the skills he had was a AoE. If he was pounced, he was confident he could survive.

Sky continued walking, taking a break under a tree. He listened out for any footsteps or anything else that could be a danger or threat to him. He wanted to find his last material and get out. After a few minutes he put the sword away, judging it safe enough to walk around without a blade drawn. He looked up, only to see a acon fall on his head. With a groan, he picked it up, and threw it as hard as he could against the tree, it bouncing off and going as far as it could. He sat down, sighing, just wanting to get out before the wolves came and ate him alive. He wanted to be back in town in around two hours... and at this rate he wouldn't make it.

Standing up, Sky continued walking. He had to be nearing the end of this trail, the one he was guessing was where the wolves had been travelling on, he had found the two leather bits on this path. And now, he had found a third. On the ground, he saw a bit of leather. Walking up to it, he tapped it, and once again got the item he needed. He was now done, he had the three he wanted. He turned, and started quickly running in the opposite direction, wanting to get the hell out of here before a wolf or two came after him. He knew it was going to, but he didn't want the pack. If he had the pack... he knew he would die!!! He had seen wolves in real life, pack animals, brutal and effective, and he did not plan to become lunch.

As Sky suspected, as he was running a group of wolves followed him. three of them, pounced towards him. As they came, Sky was quick to jump high, as he wasn't wearing any armor, he wasn't weight down at all by anything but his blade, landing in the middle of the group of Wolves. They were pretty scary, he had just been ambushed by a group of hunting pack animals, but he wasn't about to die, not today, not after the hell he had just gone through!!! He jumped to the outside, and quickly activated his Rage Spike sword art, dealing a AoE and killing all three wolves in the single hit. Panting, he quickly bolted out of the forest, finding his way easily and leaving the area, heading back into the town of beginnings.

Sky went straight back to the Tailor, and decided to rush into his first crafting. He put the leather down, and started sewing, going fabric after fabric on the design, and with all his creativity he tried to create a dragons tail cloak!!! But it backfired horribely. After he finished, he had on his hand a bad item htat looked like it had been pulled from the sewage. He groaned, looking at his hard effort and work as it was used up in a horrible attempt at crafting something. It was only his first time, so... maybe it would get better? Sky put the horrid thing in the trash bin, not even wanting to keep that sewage rat. He decided to try again, thus the reason he had gathered three instead of just one material, maybe he would be luckier this time.

Heading back to the machine, Sky tried again to sow. He went straight into it, once again trying the same idea, but this time, instead of actually creating anything, the machine jammed and broke, tearing apart the leather he had collected. He tried to salvage it, but the machine started smoking and coughing. He gulped, deciding that was enough for now, and bailed before he got held responsible. He had his first taste of it... and it was hard... He was not going to find this easy, he was not going to find this possible. But he knew with practice he would get there, eventually. He sighed, getting up and walking towards the town square, starting to think of a name for the ship he was going to open, and where, and once he knew, he was going straight to the spot to open his shop!!!

As he reached the town square, he started to think about what to call his store. His first thoughts was stuff to go along with his name. The Stryding Shoe.... The Fountain of Cloth. All his names sounded bad, and none sounded like the kind of name he wanted a tailors shop to sound... he had seen some, they all had cool names, he wanted something unique and beautiful, unlike his creations. He thought hard and long about it, laying down on the ground as he pondered. He was pretty relaxed, about as relaxed as someone could be after being in the jungle all day. It was a good mindspace to be in to think. Eventually, he leapt up, coming up with a name that he loved, and hoped others would love to.

"Il call it the Starview Tailor!" He yells out to the world, deciding the name and loving it. Now he needed a location.

Location was a hard one. He needed a location that fit the name, Starview. He needed to be able to see the stars in his tailor. As he thought which floor, he remembered where his guild leader lived, on floor 2. It was a mountainy floor, and if he was high enough up, he might be able to get a great view of the stars!!! He wondered if Atzo would be willing to let his tailor be near his house, but in honesty, he didn't care what he thought. He had found his location, top of a hill in the Second floor of Aincrad. A perfect spot to stare at the stars and get inspiration for his clothing, and a beautiful spot to relax and live. He loved the idea of it, and planned to make it a reality as soon as he was out of here, and it was going to be a beautiful reality.
