      The SAO Staff Team!   02/22/2017

      Hello members of SAO-RPG!

I'm sure most of you (if not some) have noticed or heard changes were made to the staff team. If you are applying to staff, you may have noticed that the application process has recently changed. This has all happened because of a reformation of the staff team and the way it operates. The staff now has separate teams for development. These teams are: Floor Creation Team [Floors, Quests/Events, Bosses], Systems & Clarifications Team, and Player Support Team.

"Who is on these teams?" Well the answer to that lies below! Floor Team Systems & Clarifications Team Player Support Team * - Denotes Team Lead

We also have a team to work on and develop the current systems but that team will search for its members and is not allowed to be applied to.

Now you may be asking, "Shark, how does one apply to the Staff Team?" And I have but 1 simple answer!
Go read this thread and it may answer all your questions!

If you have any more questions, send me a PM and I will answer your questions about staff. (Only the format of teams and/or the application process)

SAO 2.0 May Patch Notes   05/16/2017

Praise thee to @Teion, in which spent her time creating all these patches. <<May 2017 Patch Notes>> Hello players! The following are complete notes on the upcoming patch that will be released once Floor 21 has been unlocked. These rules are not yet in effect, but an announcement will be made once they are officially implemented.
As always, any threads that are in-progress when the patch goes live will follow the same rules as when they were started. Skills, items, new threads and evaluations, etc., must adhere to all new rules once the patch has been released.
        General Rule Updates:
First off, there are a few general rule changes and clarifications. These have been amended or added to the relevant guides until the 2.0 rewrite has been completed. Post Count Requirements: A completed page of roleplay is 20 in-character posts. Thread summaries are mandatory, but they may be posted either in a separate post or together with the last IC post. Rules on Vanity Potions: Cannot affect a player's psyche. Cannot manipulate a player's will. Cannot alter an avatar's appearance in drastic ways (missing limbs, transmogrification, etc.) Cannot affect any systems that would be directly controlled by Cardinal (pain dampeners, language or speech, players' senses, etc.) Alcohol in SAO: While alcoholic drinks exist in Sword Art Online and can be created by Cooks, players do not actually ingest any alcohol they may drink. It is not possible to become drunk, however some players could be prone to a placebo effect. Regardless, it is important to note that players cannot become intoxicated by drinking alcohol.
      Dice Roller Tutorial Update:
The Dice Roller has been updated with some new rules regarding the "Roll Purpose" section: Rolls must clearly state the full action in the Roll Purpose field. When attacking: targets, sword arts, skills, etc., must be included. When crafting: tier and item type (not enhancements) must be included. Any loot, crafts, etc., that do not abide by the new rules must be submitted for evaluation before the end of the Floor 20 boss fight. Evaluations that do not meet the new criteria after the patch's release will not be able to be approved.
      Appraisal Rework and Loot Changes:
The Merchant's Appraisal system has been reworked to Identify: The loot table and treasure chest guides have been rewritten. Permanent items obtained through chests or from killing mobs are now "Unidentified". Unidentified items are not submitted for evaluation by the person who looted the item. These items must be brought to a Merchant to be identified. Unidentified items cannot be used or equipped. Merchants will use their crafting rolls to identify items, similarly to the appraisal system. The Merchant who identifies the item is responsible for submitting the item for evaluation before it can be used.
The Loot Guide has been rewritten: There is now a Floor minimum and maximum for standard parameters. Monsters may not be spawned below or above these stats. Players must use a post action out of combat to inspect unidentified weapons and armor to determine their type. Players may not search for materials in safe zones, shops, etc. Separate Loot Die rolls are required when facing multiple enemies.
The Treasure Chest system has been revamped: Chests can be searched for every 20 posts. Sub-dungeons and chests cannot be searched for closely together. The Picking skill is no longer required to open chests. It is still the only modifier that affects rolls to open chests. Treasure chest rewards have been changed. Items found in chests are also unidentified. Check out the complete updates in the new Loot & Treasure Chest Guide and Merchant Guide sections.
      <<The Gemini>> Quest Rewrite:
<<The Gemini>> quest and the skills it awards (Concentration and Disguise) have been rewritten: Players that have already completed <<The Gemini>> may re-take the quest in order to switch the skill they received in their initial completion. Players may not repeat the quest if they are not switching their current skill. Repeat completion will not award the col or additional SP from the quest rewards. Concentration (5 round cooldown): Gives +1 to the BD result for a single action. Can be applied after the roll. Can only be used against monsters. Disguise (5 round cooldown): Gives +1 to the BD result for a single action. Can be applied after the roll. Can only be used against players/NPCs.
New Beginner Quest: <<The Venomous Warg>>:
A new beginner quest has been released! With a level cap of 15 or below, this quest can be taken solo or with a party of 2.
        Skill & Mod Changes:
Support players rejoice! First Aid has been reworked and given a few new mods. A new skill/mod focused around energy is being added. Focused Howl and the Dismantling mod have been adjusted. Fighting Spirit and Picking have been reworked. First Aid: No longer requires a roll to use. Healing amount has been reduced to 4% max HP per rank, down from 8%. Now has an energy cost based on the amount of healing done. Field Medic (Mod): No longer requires a roll to use. Energy cost now scales with user's total energy. New Mod - Sharpness: Increases your target's damage for a short time. Does not stack. New Mod - Barrier: Increases your target's mitigation for a short time. Does not stack. New Mod - Purify: Removes a status effect from your target
New Skill - Energize: Spend energy to restore another target player's energy. New Mod - Hyperactive: Increase a target's passive energy regeneration for a short time.
Focused Howl: Now generates 5 hate on a single target. Fighting Spirit: Increases Hate generated from attacks by 1. Missing an attack will generate 1 Hate, successful attacks will generate 2, and critical hits will generate 3 before other modifiers. Picking: No longer has ranks. Provides a flat LD bonus to opening chests. Dismantling (Mod): Reduced SP cost to 8 from 9.
        Enhancement List Update:
The Enhancement List has been completely rewritten. We recommend checking out the link above and reviewing the full list. For some quick notes, the following has been significantly changed: Cook/Fisherman enhancement names have been normalized. Light Momentum: Gives temporary Accuracy instead of damage after an unsuccessful attack. Regen: Reworked. Now provides a healing over time effect after taking damage. No longer stacks with Battle Healing. Recovery: Now scales with Tier. Taunt: No longer unique. Can be applied to weapons, shields, and trinkets. Skill Rank: Renamed to "Expertise". Alcoholic: Renamed to "Protein". Reworked. Now reduces mitigation instead of evasion. Energize: Renamed to "Vitality". Now scales with Tier. Monster Call: Reworked. Monsters spawn at minimum loot requirement stats. LD bonus scales with slots but does not stack with other consumable LD bonsues. Misperception: Damage reduced from enemies changed to 10% (rounded down) from a flat 4. Fallen Damage: Now triggers on successful attack rolls of 6-8 (before modifiers) rather than any non-critical attack. Phase: Reduced the slot cap to 1 down from 2. Removed the second slot effect. Freeze: Attacks against frozen enemies now removes the effect and deals additional damage. Life Mending: Reworked. Now increases the user's healing done to other targets through the use of skills and consumable items. Absolute Accuracy: Reworked. Allows natural attack rolls of 1 to no longer automatically miss. Gives +1 to the BD when attacking (stacks with regular Accuracy). Caps at 1. Flame Aura: Reduced the mitigation received to (6 per slot * Tier) down from (9 per slot * Tier). Reduced the damage dealt to (5 per slot * Tier) down from (8 per slot * Tier). Combat Craft has been removed. Paralyze Water has been removed.

On the second floor, at the top of a mountain around two hours of from the safe zone, stands a modest looking building.

On the door hung a sign saying 'Starview Tailor' A little tarp over the door to protect it from rain. Inside a small fireplace gave the place a warm, pleasant feel.

The room was square, and had two lounges in front of the fireplace to relax while your order was being done, or while waiting for service.

If you looked up, a seethrough glass roof let in starlight, and allowed people to see the stars, and during the day it was covered with a tarp that had stars embed in.

Behind the Counter laid his basket of hand sewing, and his machine, the heart of his shop.

As sky thought about what to do, he started to get ideas. He went into his shop, the Starview Tailor. He was proud of it, the roof looked beautiful, and he loved the appearance of it. The stars on the roof... He was so glad the game worked like this. Suddenly, inspiration. He ran to his machine, and started to sow. First doing the cloth, and making his first piece of clothing. He was very happy with it, it looked exactly like he had envisioned!! He went straight to the next one afterwards, but instead of getting what he wanted, at least, stat wise, he failed a little. The appearance was exactly what he had wanted!!! But the item itself wasn't enhanced. Sighing, he grabbed his crafts, going and putting the cloak on sale, but as he looked at the shirt, he liked how it looked, and decided to wear it himself.

Sky went straight into his work, trying as hard as he could to make something worthwhile. His first attempt, well..... it failed horrendusly. It got caught in the machine and got chewed up, and was now unable to use. His second, got stuck, and while he was trying to unpick it from the machine, it got torn, and was made unusable. Groaning, hit his head on the table, before going back to plan for whatever he was going to make next.

It looked perfect, just like he had imagined it. But in his rush, he hadn't seen the second material he had get chewed up. Groaning, he looked at the new Cloak he had made.

Approaching his work bench, Sky started sowing. His ifrst attempt, as normal, had gone terribly. He failed it, and threw the machine into the table!!! Suprisingly, this fixed it and he managed to actually get his material back. His second attempt was much better, managing, with the same material, to craft himself a cloak. He smiled, deciding to put it on sale as a vanity item.

Sky got to sewing quickly the next day, deciding this was going to be his day. He stared out at the sky through his roof, marvelling in all that he could see. It was a beautiful sight, and it was nighttime at the moment. He put down his machine, deciding to hand sew this one. As he went, he watched the stars, making a perfect replica of it on a pair of gloves. He smiled, having crafted it, before realizing it actually was a PERFECT item!!! He smiled, putting it in his inventory quickly. He now had his gloves for combat!!! After he did this, he crafted something else, an pair of gloves. He was proud of it, those being of a rare quality. He smiled at his achievements, deciding to send a message to Eatos about them, seeing as he had sent him a private message, ordering a pair of gloves. He put them in the drawer, out of sight, for his customer to pick up.

Huh? So this was Stryders shop? Eatos walked in through the door, and had to admit, it was a very different pace to her own store that was for certain. She'd spoken to Stryder several days before, and they'd organised another deal. She needed a way to recover if she failed a forging, and he'd offered a solution. So, she'd been willing to make an order for gloves. And now she was curious as to if they'd been completed.

"Stryder...?" She asked looking around "You here...?"

When he heard Eato's voice, he smiled. He was in the back of his shop, just out of sight.

She probably wants her gloves, wheeeere AHA here

He went into the draw, pulling out the pair of gloves. He had to admit, the name she had given them was weird, but it was her, she was obsessed with Sin, made him wonder. He walked out, smiling as he greeted her.

"Hey, here for your gloves? I finished them not to long ago, here!" He said, handing them to her.

Eatos smiled spotting Stryder. She'd come to his store, which, well, the walk here hadn't filled her with hope. While it was a beautiful store, she'd of picked a different location herself. But, each to their own. She was quick to spot them, the Gloves of Greed she'd ordered. She smiled as they indeed had the killer detail she wanted, the mark of the Ouroborus. That was the killer detail on those gloves, and the name was simple. Out of the 7 Deadly Sins of humanity, she knew the one she represented. If a sin had a envoy, she was the envoy of greed.

"They look amazing Stryder, thank you so much!"  These gloves would help her gather her materials, to acquire everything she needed to build a successful store. She smiled, Greed indeed.

660 she couldn't do, not without diving into her Armourys' funds and even then, she knew she'd come up 100 gold short and be flat broke. But, his offer to drop them down, like what she did for him, was a life saver. While it did clean her out of everything she carried on her, she could easily get more.

"400 I can do, I have that much on me right now" she said, trading over 400 Col to him for her gloves "You have no idea how easier you've made my life with these gloves! Thank again Stryder!" With that, she heaed back out the door, and up to Floor 4, to her Armoury.

Hei was wandering around the mountains of floor two, to get a little variety into his days, as he was not actively fighting at the front lines by now, there was not so much to do and strolling around the first floor was getting boring. So here he was, wandering the mountains, when he saw a building on top of one of the closer mountains. - I wonder who lives up there, must be the kind of person that doesn't have many contacts with the rest of the world - and so Hei went on, climbing his way up to the place he had spotted earlier.

When he finally reached the mountains summit, he was a little disappointed when he saw the house, as it was nothing special, but he still came closer to have a look and maybe meet someone new. At the door, there was a sign saying 'Starview Tailor' and so Hei found out about there being a tailor op on this mountain. - As a Tailor myself I should have a look at what this player up here has created so far - and so he entered the house. The inside was nice and cosy, with a fireplace and some furniture for one to sit down and wait, but what was of much more interest was the rooms ceiling, as it looked like the night sky.

Looking around Hei found a pair of nicely worked gloved, resembling the night sky that he would love to have a closer look at. He asked to borrow them for a short training and to have a look at how they where crafted, as he was interested in becoming a better Tailor.

Item Type:  Hand Wraps (Unarmed Weapon)
Tier: 1

Description: Handstiched leather gloves that go all the way to the elbow, sort of like long sleeve gloves. They are made out of an extremely light , midnight blue material, and were crafted while viewing the stars, the embedded stars and shapes matching the night sky perfectly. The gloves are soft on the inside and outside, but the gloves increase the wearers innate strength, allowing them to hit, and be stronger then normal. The gloves also emit a small, northern lights color out at all times, the stars seemingly lit up by the light.

Cobalt eyes fell upon the humble building as Teion took a moment to rest after the hike up the mountain trail. Players with the tailor profession seemed to be few and far between lately--or at least those willing to take custom orders. The shop looked newly-established, and while Teion pushed open the door to let herself in she was already formulating the best plan for what she needed.

"Mm," The woman nodded her head in greeting towards the shop owner once she had spotted the raven-haired player. "I'm looking to order a piece of light armor," She explained, getting straight to the point. "If I gave you five tier two materials, can I pay you for any items you make? Quality doesn't matter."

Should he accept her proposal, the blacksmith would offer up the items for trade and begin sketching out the design of the armor she wanted. "If it can look like this," She let the sentence hang incomplete, handing over the details.

Sky smiled as he took her order, having just come out from where he had been practising on some dead material. He refused to use, or sell, material that was just complete trash. He listened to her order, taking in the notes.

"Sure, if i craft a perfect il return any materials not used' He said to her, accepting the trade and heading over to his workbench. He was quick to get to work, cracking his neck. It had been awhile, but he felt like it was going to go good!!! His first try went well, making a rare piece. He was happy with it, but he was a little upset he couldn't make her exact order. He tried again, managing to create the exact same thing.... two times in a row.... Still a little annoyed, and it showing, he tried a third time, this time though, the material almost getting caught up and shreeded!!! He managed to save it, no damage being done.

"Sorry, didn't manage to get your exact order, but i have two rares for you. If your happy to wait i can try the others soon!" He said, opening a trade menu and sending the two to her.

"You paid me in materials, its fine, im glad to help" He said afterwards, his generous nature coming out. He didn't know why, but in this shop, he didn't really want to earn much.... He wanted to keep people alive.

Sky groaned as he hit the table, trying to sow again. He had gotten an order for perfect items!!! He hadn't even managed to craft one yet!!! He hated this feeling, of being helpless, but he knew he would get over his slump. He sighed, hitting the table again before quickly stitching up another one of her orders... It turned out okay, becoming a uncommon item. He continued crafting, making another item for someone else, but it not being something he had gotten for Teion... He sighed, before sending a message to Teion.

Vigilon started his way towards Stryder's shop. It was time he'd gotten his hands on better armor, and he had...about three mats he could give to Stryder for the light armor. During his trip, the sunset was drawing near. The shop seemed a bit simple from the outside, but it was much better, Vigilon thought, on the inside. He gazed at the stars for a while, then suddenly remembered why he was here. "Sorry if I seem a little late. Here are the materials." Vigilon thought carefully about the enhancements he would like. "If there's only one slot, I would go with Mitigation. I may be DPS and Scout, but I still need to stay alive in the first place. If possible, I would like the other enhancement(s) to be evasion." After giving the remaining specifics, he found a seat in the lounge where he could settle down and wait in.

3 T1 Mats given to @Stryder

Custom order:

Item name: Sunset's Light

Item type: Trench coat

Tier: 1

Quality: Uncommon, Rare, or Perfect(Basically anything with buffs XD)

Enhancements: Mitigation (1) Evasion (0-2)

Description: A Trench Coat without any buttons or such for bringing the two front ends together. It is the color of Sunset(Basically All warm colors), with an orange sun design on the back.

OOC: I assume this is what I needed to do. You may correct me if I'm wrong.

Vigilon liked the rare light armor as soon as he received it. He also noticed that the remaining one material was returned to him. "Thanks, I've pretty much been needing this since...I think I lost count, and I've only started off a few days ago!" He began to wonder what should be done about the leftover material, then began to consider taking a trip to a merchant. "So, I've heard of a place where players tend to go in order to relax, but it's a waterfall on floor 6, probably outside the safe zone, so I thought I should go explore the floors once I'm prepared." Vigilon thought about his current plans for the future. He knew that he was very close to starting a Guild, but he needed some allies who weren't affiliated with any Guilds yet. He left and made his way to the next place he would stop, and it seemed as if this preparations trip would take a while...
