[PP-F4] Shattering The Impossible <Itzal, Aster and Morgenstern> <<Absolute Zero>>

Recommended Posts

The blond turned and watched as Itzal's attack followed his, striking the crack, but did not actually manage to sink in through. He turned to watch Aster attack, and her thunderous punches stunned the creature again. "Keep it up guys" He called to the players. Gripping his weapon tighter, he charged forward, leaping up and placing a series of slashes across its knee. Each blow glanced off the collosal's body, and something told Jonathan he would require the power of angel's to strike through. He backed off as the creature began to recover from its paralysis. His attacks were futile as he had no bleed or paralysis. His weapon was not bringing any divine energy into the battle either. He looked around for any advantage points but it appeared they were completely alone in this battle. Itzal was their only point of damage, and not even he was the greatest at fighting. The battle was moving along though. They were doing fine so far, but something told Jonathan that it would not go on for much longer.

Itzal watched as Aster rushed up and landed another critical hit on the boss, paralyzing him yet again which Itzal was grateful.  He wasn't sure how much damage this boss was dealing, but he was certain that this revival wasn't going to be easy on any level.  Jonathan then rushed up and attacked it as well.  It was clear that the monster's mitigation was far to powerful for either of his friends to deal any more than one point of damage.  Itzal was the main damage factor here and the mitigation kept it from being much.  Despite that he would deal as much as he possibly could.  Hopefully he'd deal a critical hit and land bleed along with Aster's paralysis, get the ball rolling faster so to speak.  Itzal rushed forward and released Meteor strike, dealing another fifty seven points of damage to the boss before retreating again.  "Hopefully I'll land a critical hit and apply bleed to this sucker!"

With the monster paralyzed for two of their party's rotations now, Aster hadn't felt the need to put as much distance between herself and the boss after her last attack. She wasn't in danger of taking damage, at least not until the creature was able to move again. Her eyes flickering up to the monster's health bar, the healer frowned in dissatisfaction at the realization that it would regain its movement very soon. 'Might as well go for another shot,' She decided. The monster hadn't managed to land a single blow against their party, and although she was grateful for that she wasn't comfortable trying to deal damage. With a small sigh, the ginger girl ran up to Avalanche yet again. The feeling of lightning crackling around her arms was absent now, causing the girl to frown again as she approached. 'That lucky was bound to run out.' She kept her commentary to her thoughts, landing only a glancing blow against the monster just as its icy body groaned back to life. A blast of frigid wind gushed out from the monster as it had been released from its paralysis, causing Aster to bring her arms up in front of her to brace herself against the violent winds. The girl immediately backed off, hurrying to a safe distance while she examined the battlefield once more.

@Itzal

Itzal and Aster were pummeling away at the glacial creature, but they had not even reached the halfway point yet. Things would continue to be slow until Jonathan hit with an attack that was imbued with angelic power. A bit angered about his day of unsuccessful attacks, Jonathan charged forward, his weapon alight with a blue energy. He could tell from the light that the angels were not blessing his weapons with their power. When they did, usually the divine energy would destroy whatever Jonathan faced. This time though, Absolute Zero seen him coming, and slammed his fist in to the oncoming blond. He was slammed into the ground, his body temperature dropping drastically. He found indefinable to move and his armor was frosted over with any icy coating. He let out a triumphant yell, showing his anger for being pinned down. "No worries guys. Just a little cold, ya know? Someone should slam him into the ground. That would be fitting revenge" Jonathan say quietly.

The battle was going rather slowly, and Itzal was a little bit concerned that he might run out of energy pretty soon.  He really hated to admit it but he may have to wait a few rounds before they could finish off the monster.  Like always however, Itzal would do the calculations in his head while the others had the beast distracted.  When he finished he realized that nine or ten more hits would be required, and he could deal another nine attacks....  Possibly.  Probably actually.  Plus if he managed to apply bleed, then they'd be set for sure.  He watched as it was yet again his turn and charged forward, leaping up with a whistle as Velnia shot lightning down at the boss's weak point that Aster had made and released Meteor strike in the same area afterwards, successfully piercing it's armor and causing it to bleed a curious light blue liquid.  The boss howled in pain and anger as Itzal retreated.  This may just work out for them after all.

((Morg, are you still at full HP?))

Finally, the boss had managed to land a single strike against their tank. The blonde swordsman was thrown to the ground, and a quick glance to her party interface showed that he was affected by some sort of debuff. 'I don't have a way to remove that...' She scowled lightly. Still, the man's health bar barely dropped from the blow, giving Aster a small sense of relief. "Alright then, looks like I'm only going to be needed in a pinch." She murmured. The ginger almost wished that the bosses attacks were more successful or dealt more damage. At least then she wouldn't feel obliged to continue dealing pitiful damage. But without much other choice, the teen sighed lightly and ran in for another basic attack. 'I really hope I can start investing in those damage-boosting skills soon...' She thought along the way, delivering another small attack for a single point of damage.

Oh crap no.... I must have added the regen that I no longer have.... *sniffles*

Jon sat there, his body slowly getting colder. He was fine with the cold for the most part, but his body was actually freezing all around as the ice crept up. His movements had completely stopped and he was uncapable of movement. He could hardly see the battle from this viewpoint. It did appear that Itzal was attacking, skillfully lancing his blade across the boss's body. He heard a loud and thunderous moan of pain before the earth began to rumble again as the icy being began to move towards him. It brought down its might fist, that began to barrel down at him quickly. It crushed into him, he fet as if his bones had to turned to ice, and then broke again. The pain dampeners were probably the only thing keeping him from blacking out. The cold came in, the rush of it a little overwhelming. The fist was removed, the colossal turning angrily, probably from Itzal's attacks. Itzal was a good damage dealer, but not the best. It would take the man a while to alone deal all of the damage. He tried to move, but the coldness was still seeping in through his body. "OH COME ON! GIMME A BREAK!" The blond growled angrily, his eyes slightly darkening from the annoyance of being stuck here burrowed in the snow. He was already pushed over a foot down into the snow from the blow. Any farther, and he would most likely literally be six feet under.

Itzal watched as his friend was struck by yet another attack that froze him in place.  That ability was a real pain, and the fact that the boss was getting lucky this often was not a good sign.  Aster moved in to help and landed a hit.  Unfortunately, she only dealt one point of damage.  Jonathan was pissed about the freeze and completely understandable.  Velnia was full of energy as usual of course and did everything she could to distract the boss from Jonathan and hopefully keep him from being hit again.  Itzal used the boss being distracted to his advantage, running up from behind.  He leaped into the air and held his sword in reverse, thrusting the blade into the ice monster's back spine, piercing through everything and holding fast in it's icy flesh.  The boss roared in pain and threw it's torso back and forth in a fierce attempt to throw him off but he didn't let go.  When the monster faltered, just for a second, Itzal withdrew the blade and released Meteor Strike, running along it's back and shoulders as he did so, striking it's weak points.  They were still covered in ice so his blade didn't get all the way through, but it weakened them.  He leaped off of the monster and retreated once on the ground.

Aster watched from a safe distance as the battle continued to play out. The players--despite Morgenstern suffering from repeated status effects--were still in no danger, and Avalanche had finally fallen below half of its total hit points. The icy beast had groaned, roared, and even stirred up the chilling winds to bite at their skin, but the best that he seemed to do was catch the tank in some kind of 'Freezing' effect.

For a moment, Aster considered carrying herself over to the blonde and healing him, but one glance to his health bar had her arguing with herself. She didn't like trying to fight, especially when her contribution was so minimal. Perhaps Morgenstern was too good of a tanking character--the healing she would do was so minimal that it basically wasn't worth it. The ginger girl let out a sigh. Accepting her best choice of action, Aster dashed forward once again, repeating all the same motions to land the smallest of blows against the elemental.

He laid there frozen, seeing occasional glimpses of the battle. Velnia flew wildly around, attmpting to distract the glacial beast. ASter kept fighting on, attacking with strong accuracy, but much weaker damage. It was expected as much from a healer though. The blond stuggled to break free, but his attempts were futile. The coldness in his chest was one that he hadn't experienced before.

The great coolosal (get it?) swatted at the pesky fly that flew around his head, being quite a disturbance. He seemed to completely forget the ones that were actually attacking him, but instead brought his hand down hard at the dragon, but it swooped out of the way, his arm crushing down into the snow, sending the white puffy stuff flying out in sheets. He seen his trapped plaer, and planned to bury him so deep and freeze to death. He brought down his fist onto him, shattering the ice on him.

The icy fist coming at him sent another shiver of cld, but the fist ended up breaking the bonds holding him down and allowing him to move once more. Thawed, Jonathan began to wiggle his way out of the hole. He sat up, and now, he was cleared for springing out.

Itzal watched as Velnia had successfully prevented the monster from possessing enough focus to land a critical hit.  The boss still managed to strike Jonathan of course, but because he was no longer frozen, he would be able to howl and attack again.  Itzal watched as Aster struck again but failed to land a critical hit.  Itzal leaped back and analyzed the boss.  This boss would take about six more shots without bleed to finally defeat.  He scanned it's body and found the original weak point and charged forward.  Velnia was still distracting it, shooting volts of lightning into it's eyes and such.  Itzal in the meantime, leaped up and released meteor strike on Avalanche's weak point, the blade bathing in lightning as he did so.  When he finished the sword art he thrust the electrical blade into it's back and the lighting from Velnia and his sword made it's way through the creature until the two electrical streams collided, causing bleed to refresh, as well as paralysis.  Itzal backflipped from the monster and nodded to Aster.

(Morg, is your health right?)

With the battle passing the halfway point, Aster cast yet another glance towards the party interface of her HUD. Gauging the other players' stats, she was surprised to see Morgenstern--despite suffering from status effects and taking additional damage--was still standing with plenty of health. The healer frowned. 'So much for providing support. They're better off with another damage-dealer instead.' The ginger mentally sighed. 'The sooner I can get those stat boosting skills and more crystals, the better, I guess.' She brought up a hand to ruffle the back of her short hair a bit before the raven-haired player caught her attention.

"Ah, well." She tried to shrug off the feeling as she moved to approach the beast yet again. Shortening the distance between them, Aster's motions were the same as they had been for the past few rotations, expecting nothing different from the fight at this point. The icy beast had let out another roar after Itzal and Velnia's coordinated attack. Sparks of purple lightning shot through its icy limbs. Just before the paralysis took effect, Avalanche's heavy boulderish arm swung to the side, slamming into a snow-covered rock formation. The strength of the monster's strike shook the packed snow from the ledges it clung to, causing it to fall to the earth below. Meanwhile, Aster had circled around the monster's front to find an opening while she approached. The healer barely had time to realize the avalanche occurring overhead, and before she was able to react the snow crashed to the ground, kicking up a thick cloud of white powder at the base of the mountain.

(I seriously have no idea what is wrong with me in this thread. I even calculated it... GRRR. Its only this thread too, ask anyone lol)

Jonathan looked at the Hate bars on each of his teammates and found that Itzal had the highest. If he did not get that in check, Itzal would be turned into an icicle and be useless form there. They needed Itzal. He trodded through the snow and began to shout at the large boss. "Hey, pick on someone your size!" He released the howl skill on the foe and it turned back to him, rearing back with its fist. 'That did not exactly mean me' the blond thought. He moved his shield in front of him to protect his body from danger. The icy fist slammed into his shield, sending a cold swishing through his body. His movements once again became slower until he completely came to a stop, frozen in place and time. The great icy monster made a deep creaking sound, as if it was chuckling. "AGAIN WITH THIS? YOU MAKE ME SICK"

Besides the fact Jonathan's health was dropping steadily, everything was going rather well, albeit slowly.  The boss's health was only four hundred damage points away from being defeated.  The fact that it was taking this long only meant that the victory would be greater for them afterwards.  Aster made her move but failed to land damage on the boss.  Itzal felt that she should focus on healing Jonathan, so that there would be no chance of him dying but he trusted her.  Jonathan also tried attacking but failed the attack.  It was now Itzal's turn.  He charged forward and released Meteor Strike, wishing his damage output was more but that's what bleed was there for.  After the strike and bleed, the monster had lost eighty one damage instead of fifty seven.  He nodded to Aster and Jonathan as he circled around the boss.

As the falling snow had crashed down on the healer, Aster was suddenly thankful for what few limits the game had. As much as she had looked forward to experiencing the feeling of suffocating beneath several inches of snow, Cardinal was quick to let her escape such an icy fate. With hardly any effort compared to what she imagined it would have taken in the real world, Aster was able to free herself and get to her feet. Fresh powder clung to her hair and clothes, and despite having the Survival skill, the biting cold nearly chilled her to the bone. Trying to get her bearing, Aster looked around until she spotted the other two players still going at it. She glanced up to her party information, seeing that Morgentstern's health was continuing to drop and he was under yet another status effect. 'Mm, yeah, that'll work.' She thought, hurrying over to the man.

Aster closed the gap between them and placed her left hand on the blonde's shoulder once she was within reach. A soft glow appeared at the point of contact, and the Freeze effect that had taken over Morgenstern's body began to melt away. His health bar filled in a bit, and once the ability ran its course Aster pushed herself forward to put some distance between herself and the monster's attack range.

He sat there in the cold, the snow from the wind and the battle was now sweeping off onto him, coming in layers. Then, a sort form was scurrying over to him. It was their healer, Aster. Her hands emitted a soft glow and she pressed it onto him. A warmth spread out through his body and his health bar raised. He stepped up from the snow, feeling as if he had the ability to take on the collosal himself. "Thanks, I can get back in the game now finally" He charged forward, screaming at the beast. "Miss me? Well, I got a surprise for you!" He charged forward, making prints in the snow as he charged, the icy breeze now refreshing and the snow sprinkles on his face. He thrusted his sword in the air, towards the sky. IT began to glow in a bright golden light, the blade of his sword glowing with a heavenly aura. He charged forward, slashing the leg of the collosal and making a large uppercut, slicing through the ice of the creature's near impenetrable body. The creature came crashing down to one knee, sending blankets of the powdery snow at the players. It slammed one of its arms into Jonathan, but it didn't deal as much damage, espically with Aster's heal getting into him.

Things were starting to go well again.  Aster moved over to Jonathan and used her skill and mod possibly to thaw him out and help him escape the freeze effect.  He then watched as Jonathan released an attack on the boss, successfully landing a critical hit with much additional damage.  It was now Itzal's turn, so he readied Yakimba and charged forward.  When he launched at the monster it noticed him and tried to swing it's open hand at him in an attempt to deal damage.  Itzal leaped up, flipping in the air as he landed on it's arm.  As he ran up the creature, he slashed his weapon at it's skin but the blade bounced off the ice without dealing damage.  He leaped again and struck at the creature's head but again dealt nothing.  He began to descend quickly, rolling to reduce fall damage and running to keep the monster from spotting him again, circling around.

'Just one quarter left. Excellent.' Aster thought as she surveyed the battlefield. She'd been less than helpful damage-wise, but the next time she went on a higher-end quest like this she planned to have plenty of damage-boosters and other items to make up for her lack of skills. It had taken all of her Skill Points so far just to get First Aid to rank 4, and she was still far from complete when going for a library that included all supportive skills she could get her hands on.

'Might as well try for another status effect.' Aster gave a mental shrug. She started towards the monster, but a blast of icy wind had her stopping in her tracks. The healer brought her arms up in front of her to shield her face, squeezing her eyes shut as she waited the gust out. The wind had come from Avalanche himself no doubt, trying to ward off any player he could from taking another swing at him.

The blond stood, the blizzard the moved around them caressed the battle ring, clinging tightly in a circle. His sword began to lose its glow, the angelic light fading until it was all but nothing. The monster now stood in the red zone, its health being dwindled away from their valiant efforts. He had lost a few hitpoints, more than he had in a while, but they were still pressing on."Alright, lets move in. Itzal, left! Aster, right! I will keep its attention in the front. They had to finish this quickly as Itzal was running out of juice. He closed his eyes, the winds and the fierce battle drowned out momentarily. Then, he charged forward. He made a shout, gathering the attention of the collosal block of ice. It bellowed and brought its fist down, but he was now in a fiery state. When the hand came crashing down upon him, he raised his shield at an angle, causing the giant fist to glace off. He stuck his sword into the arm of the beast and quickly bound upwards. He was atop the arm of the beast. He charged up and forward, using the gaps in the ice as footholds. The beast began to tremble, attempting to shake him off. He grinned and bound off the arm, slamming into the beast's chest. He hacked there at its midsection, breaking away bits and pieces of ice, but he couldn't get his blade to break through. Scoffing, he kicked off the beast and hurtled towards the ground.

He landed with a graceful roll, using his shield to prop him back up onto his feet.

Itzal watched as Aster missed and Jonathan struck the creature, dealing more damage to the boss.  This over amount of mitigation was beginning to bug Itzal, and if he was honest he would really like to just get this over with.  If he had known about it's mitigation being this high then he would have went and got himself a damage consumable.  Itzal could see that Morgenstern was getting heated and heard his orders.  Itzal didn't care about who shouted orders.  If someone had an idea he'd work with them.  Unless it was suicide of course, but he knew Jonathan wasn't like that at all.  Itzal shot towards the left, waiting for Jonathan to get the monster's attention.  Velnia flew in the front alongside him to help keep it from striking anyone else or see them coming.  Itzal ran up the wall of a nearby cliff and launched himself at the boss, backflipping and releasing meteor strike on it's back.  Once again dealing only eighty one points of damage.  Gosh this was going to take forever.  Still, it was almost over.
