      The SAO Staff Team!   02/22/2017

      Hello members of SAO-RPG!

I'm sure most of you (if not some) have noticed or heard changes were made to the staff team. If you are applying to staff, you may have noticed that the application process has recently changed. This has all happened because of a reformation of the staff team and the way it operates. The staff now has separate teams for development. These teams are: Floor Creation Team [Floors, Quests/Events, Bosses], Systems & Clarifications Team, and Player Support Team.

"Who is on these teams?" Well the answer to that lies below! Floor Team Systems & Clarifications Team Player Support Team * - Denotes Team Lead

We also have a team to work on and develop the current systems but that team will search for its members and is not allowed to be applied to.

Now you may be asking, "Shark, how does one apply to the Staff Team?" And I have but 1 simple answer!
Go read this thread and it may answer all your questions!

If you have any more questions, send me a PM and I will answer your questions about staff. (Only the format of teams and/or the application process)

SAO 2.0 May Patch Notes   05/16/2017

Praise thee to @Teion, in which spent her time creating all these patches. <<May 2017 Patch Notes>> Hello players! The following are complete notes on the upcoming patch that will be released once Floor 21 has been unlocked. These rules are not yet in effect, but an announcement will be made once they are officially implemented.
As always, any threads that are in-progress when the patch goes live will follow the same rules as when they were started. Skills, items, new threads and evaluations, etc., must adhere to all new rules once the patch has been released.
        General Rule Updates:
First off, there are a few general rule changes and clarifications. These have been amended or added to the relevant guides until the 2.0 rewrite has been completed. Post Count Requirements: A completed page of roleplay is 20 in-character posts. Thread summaries are mandatory, but they may be posted either in a separate post or together with the last IC post. Rules on Vanity Potions: Cannot affect a player's psyche. Cannot manipulate a player's will. Cannot alter an avatar's appearance in drastic ways (missing limbs, transmogrification, etc.) Cannot affect any systems that would be directly controlled by Cardinal (pain dampeners, language or speech, players' senses, etc.) Alcohol in SAO: While alcoholic drinks exist in Sword Art Online and can be created by Cooks, players do not actually ingest any alcohol they may drink. It is not possible to become drunk, however some players could be prone to a placebo effect. Regardless, it is important to note that players cannot become intoxicated by drinking alcohol.
      Dice Roller Tutorial Update:
The Dice Roller has been updated with some new rules regarding the "Roll Purpose" section: Rolls must clearly state the full action in the Roll Purpose field. When attacking: targets, sword arts, skills, etc., must be included. When crafting: tier and item type (not enhancements) must be included. Any loot, crafts, etc., that do not abide by the new rules must be submitted for evaluation before the end of the Floor 20 boss fight. Evaluations that do not meet the new criteria after the patch's release will not be able to be approved.
      Appraisal Rework and Loot Changes:
The Merchant's Appraisal system has been reworked to Identify: The loot table and treasure chest guides have been rewritten. Permanent items obtained through chests or from killing mobs are now "Unidentified". Unidentified items are not submitted for evaluation by the person who looted the item. These items must be brought to a Merchant to be identified. Unidentified items cannot be used or equipped. Merchants will use their crafting rolls to identify items, similarly to the appraisal system. The Merchant who identifies the item is responsible for submitting the item for evaluation before it can be used.
The Loot Guide has been rewritten: There is now a Floor minimum and maximum for standard parameters. Monsters may not be spawned below or above these stats. Players must use a post action out of combat to inspect unidentified weapons and armor to determine their type. Players may not search for materials in safe zones, shops, etc. Separate Loot Die rolls are required when facing multiple enemies.
The Treasure Chest system has been revamped: Chests can be searched for every 20 posts. Sub-dungeons and chests cannot be searched for closely together. The Picking skill is no longer required to open chests. It is still the only modifier that affects rolls to open chests. Treasure chest rewards have been changed. Items found in chests are also unidentified. Check out the complete updates in the new Loot & Treasure Chest Guide and Merchant Guide sections.
      <<The Gemini>> Quest Rewrite:
<<The Gemini>> quest and the skills it awards (Concentration and Disguise) have been rewritten: Players that have already completed <<The Gemini>> may re-take the quest in order to switch the skill they received in their initial completion. Players may not repeat the quest if they are not switching their current skill. Repeat completion will not award the col or additional SP from the quest rewards. Concentration (5 round cooldown): Gives +1 to the BD result for a single action. Can be applied after the roll. Can only be used against monsters. Disguise (5 round cooldown): Gives +1 to the BD result for a single action. Can be applied after the roll. Can only be used against players/NPCs.
New Beginner Quest: <<The Venomous Warg>>:
A new beginner quest has been released! With a level cap of 15 or below, this quest can be taken solo or with a party of 2.
        Skill & Mod Changes:
Support players rejoice! First Aid has been reworked and given a few new mods. A new skill/mod focused around energy is being added. Focused Howl and the Dismantling mod have been adjusted. Fighting Spirit and Picking have been reworked. First Aid: No longer requires a roll to use. Healing amount has been reduced to 4% max HP per rank, down from 8%. Now has an energy cost based on the amount of healing done. Field Medic (Mod): No longer requires a roll to use. Energy cost now scales with user's total energy. New Mod - Sharpness: Increases your target's damage for a short time. Does not stack. New Mod - Barrier: Increases your target's mitigation for a short time. Does not stack. New Mod - Purify: Removes a status effect from your target
New Skill - Energize: Spend energy to restore another target player's energy. New Mod - Hyperactive: Increase a target's passive energy regeneration for a short time.
Focused Howl: Now generates 5 hate on a single target. Fighting Spirit: Increases Hate generated from attacks by 1. Missing an attack will generate 1 Hate, successful attacks will generate 2, and critical hits will generate 3 before other modifiers. Picking: No longer has ranks. Provides a flat LD bonus to opening chests. Dismantling (Mod): Reduced SP cost to 8 from 9.
        Enhancement List Update:
The Enhancement List has been completely rewritten. We recommend checking out the link above and reviewing the full list. For some quick notes, the following has been significantly changed: Cook/Fisherman enhancement names have been normalized. Light Momentum: Gives temporary Accuracy instead of damage after an unsuccessful attack. Regen: Reworked. Now provides a healing over time effect after taking damage. No longer stacks with Battle Healing. Recovery: Now scales with Tier. Taunt: No longer unique. Can be applied to weapons, shields, and trinkets. Skill Rank: Renamed to "Expertise". Alcoholic: Renamed to "Protein". Reworked. Now reduces mitigation instead of evasion. Energize: Renamed to "Vitality". Now scales with Tier. Monster Call: Reworked. Monsters spawn at minimum loot requirement stats. LD bonus scales with slots but does not stack with other consumable LD bonsues. Misperception: Damage reduced from enemies changed to 10% (rounded down) from a flat 4. Fallen Damage: Now triggers on successful attack rolls of 6-8 (before modifiers) rather than any non-critical attack. Phase: Reduced the slot cap to 1 down from 2. Removed the second slot effect. Freeze: Attacks against frozen enemies now removes the effect and deals additional damage. Life Mending: Reworked. Now increases the user's healing done to other targets through the use of skills and consumable items. Absolute Accuracy: Reworked. Allows natural attack rolls of 1 to no longer automatically miss. Gives +1 to the BD when attacking (stacks with regular Accuracy). Caps at 1. Flame Aura: Reduced the mitigation received to (6 per slot * Tier) down from (9 per slot * Tier). Reduced the damage dealt to (5 per slot * Tier) down from (8 per slot * Tier). Combat Craft has been removed. Paralyze Water has been removed.

Party two had one their share of the fight, and now it was for the third party. Macradon would smirk, getting ready to attack on command, but something feeled … odd. But it was probably just the adrenaline, if that was even possible in here, pumping through the Jade Hunter’s veins. Macradon would get ready and do what they had planned if they were to do something cool. Hirru was spearheading the attack, just like before. If he did so he would be able to plan a tactic around of that, but Hirru and Macradon already had their plan ready. Macradon would rush up forward, having his sword ready hanging down at his side as Hirru roared out “Everyone! All out attack!”.

As he got closer, Macradon would jump up into the air and spin nearly perpendicular to the ground as Hirru called out, Macradon would reply as their tag team attack was completed. “--BREAK!” he roared out. His sword would cleave downwards, like it was tearing through space itself. It tore right through Mothra, even its thick fluffy fabulous fur armor was torn to shreds by the big slab of heavy steel. Macradon would land on the ground again on both of his feet. He would send a smile at Hirru “Well done, Hunter!” he would say with a broad smile. Even though the boss wasn't dead yet, there were still members of the party that would be able to take down the great Moth.

(It might be dead all ready but... It doesn't matter. BD:1. I hate life XD)

Jonathan would watch as his allies would slowly begin to dwindle away the health of Mothra. The accursed moth had dealt quiet a number on his health, but he still had quite a bit left to spare. Macradon commanded for everyone to attack and finish it off, and Jonathan nodded, charging in with his shield and sword. He approached Mothra, charging with great speed. Winds of gust barely effected him thanks to his heavy armor. He slashed forward with his sword, but entirely missed the creature as it swiftly moved away from where he attacked it at. He sighed. There went another of his only chances to clearing a boss. Another demonic just sifted through his hands and probably once again was going to Heathcliff. The KoB. Great! The man seemed to just be full of luck if he could finish off this boss. Nato, Tanos, and now Mothra. All because he couldn't hit.

After his last attack the flying floor boss' health continued to drop by the hands of the other front liners, he made a mental note to remember their faces and ask around about them for future plans and maybe engage in some recruitment efforts. But the commander let such thoughts in the back of his mind as his group once again charged at its oversized opponent and he wasn't about to stand by and let some other team get the glory of slaying the beast.

He followed the team strategist's urge to attack and did so, noticing that all his party members have acted in the same manner. But regrettably, as the fellow tank, he missed his target and his sword slashed the air pocket left below the moth. Gritting his teeth, the man beneath the commander persona mused for a second, the idea of manipulating the mob's hp so that it would appear that he killed it. But as quickly dismissed the concept as it would be a huge risk that he would be found out way too early in the game. He vented his frustration with a powerful horizontal swing of his weapon, to his right side before returning it to its sheath and raising his shield.

CD: 1+3 = Failed Attempt

Anemone had watched as the players took to the assault once more. The brave Commanders of the Knights of the Blood Oath had swabbed the Mothra Boss with powerful blows, but it's enchanted body and odd dust shield seemed to have kicked in causing their weapon arts to weaken. She had stood in the far back looking left and right as the fellow members of her party had gone and drove their weapon's into the Boss. She had a look of determination on herself, but she could not help much in this situation even when it looked like Macradon had done the killing blow. The support of the Knights lifted her hand and targeted Hirru. She had found that he was lacking in some hit points. Even if he was no in immediate danger, it was well advised to top off everyone's HP just for good measure. However, the skill had backfired and the aura on her hands had dissipated into nothing. She had failed in her task to help, once again, if there was only a way to get healing to proc all the time. She sighed and looked forlorn once more as she could not do her job, had Mack been here, would he have scolded her?

Mothra soared around the area, dodging attacks left and right rapidly as she did. A few attacks would land on her and her health was brought down dangerously low. She gave a growl and went to attack the bulky-looking player that was on the team. She went to try, but she was intimidated by his weapon, and knew that she could easily die if she ran into it. She backed away slowly and let out a roar of defiance. She knew she was beat, but she would do her best to stand for herself, and do her best to stand and protect her children. They would die without her, and she didn't want that to happen. She started to fly around again, preparing for the worst and hoping that she would be able to survive enough to give her time to escape these players and get out of here to take care of her young.

Shielding her eyes with her hands as the moth flew out of their reach, the blonde braced for the gusts of dusty winds that assaulted them. However, as the attack settled, the blonde's initial impulse was to look at the health bars in the top left corner of her view. She had noticed that they were still in the green and assumed that the oversized insect had simply missed them. It was when she looked at her weapon that she saw it being covered in some small scale-like thing. She tried to wipe a portion off with her hand but the substance persisted, earning the blonde's anger as she began to rapidly spin the banner around her at high velocity in hopes that it would slip off.

Her efforts proved ineffective as the obsidian color of her pole was still tinted with the foreign flakes. Impaling the spearhead into the ground with  some wild hopes that it the dust won't dull her blade, she looked to the others parties currently locked in combat. Judging by the remaining health bar, she sighted resigned as she was sure that someone else will again finish the raid boss.

To her surprise, seeing the second team dealing almost no dmg, rekindled a small measure of hope inside her as she continued to watch the 3rd team. The self entitled lioness let out a displeased expression mixed with some envy as she saw the last combo deal significant damage. With the commander of the kotb closing in for the kill she let out a grunt, her eyes shooting poisoned daggers in his direction. 'He's gonna take the last hit again....'

It was almost as if the daggers hit their mark. Ariel let out a small "HA!" in surprise mixed with excitement, as she saw him completely miss the moth. She could still do it... the small spark of hope turned into a burning passion as her body moved unconsciously forward grabbing her weapon tight and bringing it behind her back she dashed towards the boss. Reaching within striking range, she unleashed her most powerful sword art once again, wanting to make sure she depletes its remaining HP entirely. Finally, one of her aims ever since was in the guardians and joined the front lines for the first time, was about to be accomplished.

Mothra, with a final roar, fell to the ground after the blonde-headed player finished off what little health she had left. As she started to pixelate, thoughts ran through her mind about her young, how much they still needed to be taken care of, how she would never see them grow and gain their beautiful wings. She let out one last and weak roar, then was soon nothing more than pixels. As the wind died down, a doorway was uncovered and opened, giving a glow on the battlefield as the doorway to floor 21 was opened. The players could now continue forward, but as they left they could hear the last and weak cries of Mothra's young, who knew their mother was gone. They were now left to fend for themselves, and they would more than likely be the next meal of one of the giant bugs that covered this floor. But now their fate was sealed, and the players were free to continue
