A crunch would be audible with every step. Every time a foot planted itself down into the snow, it would collapse in a loud and crispy sound. Clad in plate and maille, Macradon would stand at the gate of the 4th floor, facing out towards the cold wilderness. “So this is the way … this is where I’m going” he thought for himself as lighter, not as crisp, footsteps would follow him. The small owlbear cub would follow his companion, even in weather like this. A snow storm was ravaging the fields of the 4th floor, nearly always like this. Macradon would let out a sigh as he would begin to walk. Opening up his HUD for the Tracking skill, Macradon would insert what he had been told. The old Avalanche field boss had gotten bigger, stronger and more fierce.

Quote

What would you like to track?
          Avalanche the Absolute Zero

“Let’s go” Macradon said to Balthazar, the two nodding in unison as they both agreed upon this decision. The two would walk through the snow, Macradon’s tracking skill showing them the way with its bullseye marker floating in the air, at least that was what Macradon could see.

Balthazar would follow behind Macradon, the scout of the two. Macradon would follow the bullseye indicator as the snow storm was getting thick and too dense to look through. At least that was what Macradon thought. Quickly the snow storm subsided. Everything was bare, the snowy ground, the glacial scenery and the giant not-frozen lake before them. Macradon would draw his sword and ask Balthazar to go back a few meters, this was going to be very dangerous. Slowly approaching the lake, Macradon would keep his eyes at the water as ripples began to appear from the middle. His bullseye indicator were focused on the center of the ripples, so Macradon was sure that this was his target. Macradon would stay his ground and await the big burly boss to approach him, he didn’t want to fight in the cold water. Macradon eyes would widen up, his jaw nearly dropping by the sheer size Avalanche had gotten. A giant glacial golem quickly rose from the water, quickly looking at Macradon. He knew what would happen and would therefore set himself in his neben guard and await the boss to get close enough. Waiting, one, two, three! Three steps were enough for Macradon not to be tangled down in the water. Rushing forward with his Sword of the Ancient, Macradon would jump up in the air and make a cleave straight down, dealing heaps of damage. The two massive healthbars of the boss had taken quite the hit, nearly down to half. After Macradon had done his attack, Avalanche would take its massive fist and pound Macradon into the snowy ground, making him roll several meter back and land had against one of the glaciers. "Argh!" he roared out in placebo-pain, evne though it didn't actually hurt.

Quickly getting up from his heavy fall, Macradon could feel every step the big hulking monstrosity would take towards him. Getting up, Macradon would begin to run towards the big monster, waiting for the monster to attack before he would do anything. As the big golem would throw its massive fist at him, he would dodge quickly and engage upon the Galaxy Destroyer stance. He would get in his neben guard quick enough to activate his sword art. He flew forward with the Cardinal system guiding his movements. He would slice once more with his big slab of steel at the golem, taking it down to the yellow zone. Macradon would smirk lightly, but that smirk would be wiped right off. The other fist would come and grab him as it punched him down into the ground. Icicles and spikes would protrude up from the ground, covering most of the battlefield in an icy landscape. Balthazar would screech loudly, hoping for Macradon to respond. The icicles would quickly shatter as Macradon would jump out of the mess. His Glacial Hide ignored the freezing status effects the monster threw at him. “I’m fine, Bal, thanks!” he said to his companion, not averting his focus from the task at hand.

The icicles would crash around him, collapsing down into fine ice dust as he began to approach the big iceberg. As he moved up forward, he would notice that Avalanche would bring up its two big arms, quickly slamming down into the icy barren lands. The ground would shake and icicles would protrude up from the ground once again, but in a much larger area than before. Macradon would quickly get out of the ice and jump forward, activating his sword art again. He would cleave through the big monster. His sword cleaving through its ice body, from one side to the other. The red mark would be left behind, now 3 in total. Hoping that he would be able to kill it soon, Macradon would stand proud and ready to take on any other hit it would throw at him, he was prepared and ready for anything. His HP had just barely dropped by 200 and he was nowhere near emptying his Energy Gauge.

After his hard hitting attack, Macradon would recover from the movements, but he wasn’t fast enough. A giant fist at the size of his body would come crashing into him. The blow was strong, extremely strong. His body would be covered in crystalline water, but they quickly broke apart because of his Glacial Hide. There wasn’t much the big giant could do other than damaging him, and that was great, that was exactly why he brought the Glacial Hide with him today, to take care of all the freeze that would be happening. Having all of that ready, Macradon would try to recover from that blow, slowly getting up after being thrown far away like before. Each time he was hit he was pushed back a lot, even though there wasn’t a lot of damage going through him, he was taking quite the beating by the large creature. Macradon would grit his teeth, he would need to slay it soon.

Either it was just this fast and Macradon hadn’t noticed it, or it was the fact that it was below half health. Within the time he took to get up from the blunt trauma, Macradon would be engaged with yet another attack before he could get to react. A punch so hard that it would end up pushing him up against the glacial walls of the area, pushing him past the walls first layers of ice, burying him slightly. As the fist would retract from the punch, Macradon would quickly jump out from the indentation in the ice. Quickly making a sidestep into a spin to evade oncoming flurries of attacks, Macradon would quickly do a retaliation before it could get another hard hitting attack at him. With the momentum of his Sword of the Ancients, Macradon would raise his sword as he spun in the air. A downwards heavy cleave would sever the body of the giant ice golem as it tore through the icy surface of the monster. The last health bar would slowly drop down to zero, from yellow to red. As the two parts of the golem slowly fell to the ground, they would scatter into pixels, crystals and polygons as it had been defeated. Macradon would stand up proud and wipe off the sweat from his forehead. The area was cold, but he was getting the heat from all this. Looking over at Balthazar, Macradon would smile and giggle lightly “We did it” he said and would give a thumbs up to the small owlbear.

Macradon and Balthazar both agreed to go to the 21st floor to hunt for materials and possibly go look for a sub-dungeon. Sub-dungeons were the easiest way of farming the needed skill points to finish off the leveling curves. If they were to get the leveling done correctly, they would be able to help steamroll entire floors with their might. Macradon was soon at a time where he would be able to stand as a true frontliner, but right now, he’s seemingly the 5th in the player’s front in terms of level, but he was sure to turn that one upside down very very soon. Arriving on the 21st floor, Macradon would begin his journey to fight off some monsters. Going around in circles for quite a while in the rocky damp floor, Macradon would later arrive at a very very big fungus field where some goblin-like monsters, but not goblins, roamed the patches of fungi. Macradon would begin to charge in, but was too distracted by the bioluminescence of the fungi.

A clash of blades would be audible for quite a while as Macradon would have to get used to this new type of monster that he hadn’t tried fighting before, it was quite different that other humanoid like creatures, but these were a bit more goblinoid, so that might be why their AI was coded differently, more savage, more wild. Macradon did his best to deflect, parry and block all the incoming attack, hoping that Balthazar would be able to find any opening in the goblinoids’ attack, which seemed to be quite difficult with their quick and aggressive movements. It was hard for Macradon to keep track of all of the attacks, their angle and frequency for him to really find the pattern they followed. As well as they were 4 doing it at the same time, Macradon near to nothing to really get through their aggressive defense yet, all he had to do was to wait for Balthazar to deduce a plan.

A screech would come from Balthazar as he had an opening in the hobgoblin’s attack pattern, and Macradon would quickly take advantage of it. Going in for an attack Macradon would execute the sword art <Calamity Disaster>. Six ferocious feral cleaves would be delivered by the blade of his sword. Six heavy slashes that would leave deep red scars in his opponents, taking out a great chunk of their HP as he would finish his attack, leaving the enemies staggering from the intense blow. He would snicker lightly and recover from his attack, preparing another attack now that he had seen the opening, trying to see if he could spot more opening, or at least hope Balthazar would be able to spot more openings so Macradon could attack. A long session of a big series of blocks and parries wasn’t gonna get any party anywhere, so someone had to take the initiative.

Even though it really didn’t go anywhere, the 4 hobgoblins did not make the same mistake as before, they kept on attacking and blocking, the same with Macradon. He couldn’t find any opening now, they were adapting a bit too quick for him and Balthazar to keep up. Parries and block after another, a stagnant fight between 4 decent field monsters and Macradon, a knight of the KoB. He would not stand there and be ridiculed by mere monsters. He would suck it up and keep calm, waiting for the correct opportunity to make a move and get this fight over with, it was getting boring. “Balthazar, can you see something in their pattern? I can’t seem to find any opening anymore, they really block it up all the time!” he shouted to his familiar standing in the backlines, the two were struggling to win the fight, but they weren’t losing.

For now, it didn’t seem like they would make any openings, they were too defensive in their attacks. Macradon would grow impatient and try to make an opening himself. He would wait for them to make consecutive attacks with near to no delay between the attacks and parry and reposition quickly, getting out of their way and get ready for an attack. With a ferocious attack, Macradon would jump forward with 6 heavy attacks, dealing quite a lot of damage to the hobgoblins. They rushed from the green zone down to the red zone in a very short amount of time, which would result in them staggering back again, falling to the ground and stay down paralyzed for a few seconds. Macradon would quickly reposition again and get ready for the final blow that will take out the monsters and relieve them from their misery, getting in a good final blow so he could relax.

He had calculated his attack to be set at just the time they would get up from their paralyzed state, but he hadn’t taken their tenacity into account as he was approaching, not having activated his sword art yet, but they were already jumping up to attack him. Macradon would grit his teeth and execute a small short sword art to deflect all their attacks and get back into a defensive guard again to keep the distance between them at a sufficient length. He didn’t want them to get the upper hand at anything, so he would try to seize the initiative once again, getting on with the attacks so he could defeat them and go on further and do something, perhaps looking for some materials as he walked around and relaxed, but for now, he had to concentrate on the the enemies in front of him. Clenching his hands around the grip of the sword, Macradon would tense up and go for an attack.

Seizing the initiative, Macradon would rush in and attack. Raising his sword over his left shoulder, Macradon would do a clockwise spin and hammer his pommel of his greatsword into the head of the closest hobgoblin, angling the attack so that it would send a shockwave that hit all of the enemies at once. The smash so strong a shockwave would ripple twice through the air, nearly cutting through the entire fabric of space this digital world was made out of. He would sheathe his sword again and look at the loot the monsters dropped after being defeated and scoff at the result. Armor and some col. He would shrug as he would put it all into his inventory and begin to look for places to sit down and relax. His energy had already been depleted down into the red zone, and it was time to regenerate it back up again, and it was gonna take some time before that would happen.

Walking around the area, Macradon would find a big rock formation with one really big boulder in the middle of the formation, towering above the other rocks around it. On top of the biggest of the rocks were stalagmites growing down from the floor’s underground like cavern roof. “Bal, let’s take a rest up on the rock, at least we can see around in the area” he said to his small companion following after its partner. As they got close to the big boulder, Macradon would notice somewhat of a pattern on the rocks, he could climb up the rocks with near to no difficulty. Using the smaller rocks as stepping stones to get to the taller stones, Macradon would climb his way up to the top of the formation, now sitting on the top of the giant boulder where he could relax for the while, watching over the field he had just fought on.

Following on with his resting, Macradon would kick back for a while and would let Balthazar take over for looking over the field and alarming Macradon if anything were to happen. Closing his eyes, Macradon would fall into a deep sleep very fast. As he laid down and slept, his mind would begin to dream and flashing images of his past would come forth, haunting him like always. A quick flash would brighten his field of vision, leaving nothing but a white flare visible. As the light died out, Macradon saw Ssendom being killed by Opal on the fateful day, before Macradon could react to the image his dream sent him, another flash of white would erupt and disappear, now showing another memory of his, the death of two innocent at the hands of a cold blooded murderer. Again, he wasn’t able to do anything about it before more memories would flow through his dream.

So many memories flashed by his eyes, but the death of Ssendom, Zelrius, Ebony and Manta kept flashing by, with each flash growing closer and closer to their demise. He couldn’t stand it anymore. Suddenly, those memories weren’t shown anymore, something else was shown, it wasn’t the death from a 3rd person perspective … it was a … 1st person perspective. “No…” Macradon muttered for himself as the memories surged through him “NO …” he continued “NOOO!!!” he yelled out in his sleep, but couldn’t do anything as he relived the scene where he killed a person. The few attack he made to stop the orange player from fleeing, the final stab that would kill him in cold blood. Reliving those memories made him shiver, but he would quickly wake up from his nightmares in shock. Looking up into the roof of the cavern, Macradon would look over at Balthazar who stood his guard duty. Macradon would sit up and notice a small glimmering piece of something at the bottom of the rock formation and would go down to it “I saw something” he said and went down to find a small ore of a blue metal he would put in his inventory. He had already forgotten his nightmare, but the scars were slowly bleeding.

The material he found was a nice addition to what he already had, and it would only get better from here on, he was certain of that. He would draw his sword and look back at Balthazar “Let’s take these on” he said with a smile to his companion. The two would start out at the foot of the rock formation. Macradon would open his HUD and begin to use his Tracking skill, trying to see if he could find those hobgoblins and take them out quickly, he wouldn’t have to carry out a way too long fight, that would just be tedious and annoying. With the HUD display up, Macradon would enter the name of the other monsters he had been up against earlier today. With those tracked, Macradon would look at the ground with his <Search and Detect> skill and follow the crowd of footsteps, looking around and following the traces, finding a small group of 4 hobgoblins.

Venturing through the area, Macradon would follow the tracks he had spotted at the bottom of the ground. Bare footsteps from the hobgoblins in a small group of 4, that’s what Macradon was to face up against. Without much more work than this, Macradon would follow the trail and find the group that was just roaming around. He would ready his sword and Charge in with a heavy swoop damaging a lot of the monsters, taking a good chunk of their health down as he attacked them, but these monsters were exceptionally strong and would retaliate shortly after, dealing a great amount of damage upon him as well. These monsters were indeed strong, they were on the 21st floor for a reason, and they had a good reason to do so. He would try to shrug off the feeling of the attack and ready himself for another attack, ready to take down these monsters.

After his initial attack and the receival of the retaliations, Macradon would continue his onslaught of attacks to take out these monsters as fast has he possibly could. With yet another Calamity Disaster to chunk down the monsters down to the red zone in two attacks, Macradon would prepare for another last attack to take them down, but before he could think of that he had to block, deflect and parry the oncoming attack aimed at him. Managing to dodge the first attack and deflecting the second, Macradon was confident about this battle, but that confidence quickly disappeared when the next oncoming attacks landed perfectly upon him, dealing a large amount of damage despite his heavy armor protecting him. The amount of damage wasn’t that big, but it was big compared to the normal monsters he was used to face, he usually didn’t take more than 50-70 damage when facing monsters, but these Tier 3 monsters were a something to be reckoned with.

He would try to focus on the defense right now, the monster’s attack was getting more and more ferocious as time went by, quickly making this assault much more difficult than he had thought it to be. With nothing to lose, Macradon would try to unleash yet another Calamity Disaster, but it was futile as his attack was halted quickly by one of the hobgoblins who used his weapon as a shield for the rest of the group, letting them jump over the obstacle that was Macradon’s sword. They would engage in close quarters, way too close for Macradon to handle. Their attacks would be swift and deadly, dealing more damage than before, really beginning to dent into his healthbar. Macradon would struggle to get out of this bind again and would go down low and roll backwards, getting back up again as he would use the knowledge he had from his martial arts day. A backwards roll wasn’t that big a deal, but it did indeed help him in this situation.
