[PP-F9] Black and Red <Itzal and Teayre>

Recommended Posts

Itzal stood on the ninth floor with Velnia once again.  The last time they were here was due to a quest called bandit camp.  It was where Itzal decided to test out his stealth abilities.  Seeing how they worked out far better than he had expected the quest turned out to be interesting.  Especially when on the way back he ran into two players named Corvo and Dreadshot, though he wouldn't learn their names until later.  Now he was back due to a quest that was titled The Iron Guardian, which from his memory and information, would grant him a support banner that healed a party of players.  Itzal was in his battle gear.  Niger Natio, his black cloth armor that covered everything but his fingers which he'd worn since the beginning of the game.  Dragon's Soul, an obsidian blade with a black hilt and guard that worked in hand with Velnia's electricity as well as landed bleed and paralysis.  Finally, Beauty Incarnated.  A ruby ring with golden designs embedded into it.  Velnia sat on his shoulder as he made his way over to the destination, the hyperactive purple dragon looking around for some form of 'edible' food she could eat up.  She preferred meat buuuuut she wasn't a picky eater either.

The faint breeze that shifted through the ninth floor caught Teayre’s hair as she waited for Itzal to contact her. The message she had originally received had been short simply asking her to help with a quest on the ninth floor. It’d been quite some time since the Crimson Maiden had met with the self-titled scout. She shifted feet her fingers tapping on the hilt of her blade.

The golden eagle pommel escaping glinting between her fingers as she caressed the bird, the blade was longer than her previous one but not by much. She made her way to amongst some rocks on the outskirts of the main settlement, far enough away that she could be seen, but not near the safe zone. Her left hand moved down to the scabbard and gently pushed it away from her. Her rear foot she slid back bending the knee whilst raising her front foot so that it reset on the ball. Her right finger twitched for a second. The red head’s chest rose filling up with air before slowly falling again. “Come on Itzal… Where are you?”

@Itzal - Sorry it took so long!

Itzal made his way around with the speed of a scout until he soon found Teayre in his sights.  She did not have to wait too long, but long enough he thought, for her to get a little impatient.  He leaped off of a cliff and rolled across the ground, standing and walking towards Teayre and waved to her, a calm smile on his face.  "Hey Teayre!  It's been a while!  How've you been lately?"  Velnia flew over to Teayre and landed on her shoulder, a big grin on her dragon face.  Itzal didn't know where Teayre stood at the current moment, but he had made a lot of progress.  He might not be able to beat Teayre in a duel, but he most certainly would be able to hold his own for a short time.  Who knows?  Maybe one day he'd be able to beat her.  Whether or not he could or could not beat her however, did not really matter.  She was his friend even though they rarely saw each other and enjoyed spending time with others.  Especially since he had become more brave, stronger and smarter since he first joined this game.

A thud sounded ahead of Teayre her blade came out of the sheathe in a single smooth motion, hair hair flowing backwards behind her as she shot forwards towards the sound. A dragon came towards the red head and she ducked her head out of the way, talons digging into her shoulder. The voice finally reached the ears of the girl. Goosebumps shuddered up her arms as he blade was half drawn. Her eyes flicked over to Itzal, narrowing at his acrobatics her lips turning up at the corners as she chuckled to herself.

“I’ve been…” She closed her eyes thinking about her recent predicaments. “Okay.” She finished with a heavy sigh. Her hand reaching up to scratch Velnia’s head. “It’s been a while, since I’ve been out…” She muses quietly, again she had secluded herself in her shop. She hadn’t once opened her eyes as she spoke to the wannabe scout. Slowly she moved herself into a sitting position resting her back against the cliff Itzal had leaped off. “How have you been?” She asked him, her hand in her lap. Clenching and unclenching her fist.

@Itzal Sorry!

Itzal saw the movement and the blade coming out.  He had expected something like this but he knew she wouldn't actually hit him once she saw who he was.  With everything she went through it was understandable that she was this cautious.  Of course, while she didn't look like she was doing ok at all, he doubted she would actually tell him what was going on.  He considered her a friend, but she may consider him to be an ally only.  It would depend really.  After all, they only met two or three times so far.  He did hope to change that however.  "I'm doing alright.  Trying to level grind for...  Reasons."  Fearx, he thought.  "Thanks for being willing to do this quest with me.  It means a lot."  He smiled gently and sincerely when he said this.  While she kept the cold appearance, he would choose to continue to be friendly.  Kasier chose to be cold to everyone other than Itzal and that was her own decision.  However he knew exactly how warm and kind she really was, and thus he knew that Teayre may or may not be the same way.

@Teayre no problem ^-^

“Reasons...” Teayre mused to Itzal, her eyes narrowing, seeming to harden at the words. A sigh escaped the red heads lips. “Be careful for level grinding for reasons Itzal. It doesn’t always work…” Her eyes closed fully now, flicking underneath the lids. The clenching of her hand changing to drumming fingers on the red heads knee. Silence. It lasted for several long, drawn out seconds before Teayre spoke again. Her eyes opening, wet at the edges, “Do not lose yourself in the process Itzal.” Taking a breath the Crimson Maiden breathing became more rapid, pushing herself up and towards Itzal she reaches out to grab him with one hand. “DO NOT FORGET WHO YOU ARE!” She screams at him before turning, the rumbling of an earthquake sounded. She sprints away from the blacked haired boy, her weapon falling into her hand as she ran. Flames spurting around her she skidded to a halt. “Please Itzal…” She mutters quietly to herself as the pixels around her began to form into creatures. “Don’t become like him.”

@Itzal - Woohoo! Reasonable timed reply!

Itzal listened to Teayre's words, hearing something in there.  Was it anger?  Worry?  Frustration?  He couldn't tell, especially with Teayre.  He thought about what she said.  Did she know why he was doing this?  To keep himself and Kaiser protected from Fearx?  The player from his past who haunted him then, and was a very very real threat now, wanted to end their competition once and for all.  He had prodded Itzal recently during a dungeon, trying to get him to get stronger and catch up.  Getting stronger was a need of course, but Itzal wanted to see if there was another way out of this.  Something that didn't involve more confli-  Suddenly Teayre snapped, grabbing him and screaming into his face.  His immediate reaction was surprise at the sudden burst, but the words rang through his ears.  Forget who you are?  Now that was an excellent question.  With his drastic change in the game, being engaged to Kasier, he had become someone new.  Now his past had returned and he could feel as if the ghost of his old self was stuck to his back, always there.  Was that what Teayre was referring to?  Did the same thing happen to her?  "I..."  Before he could make any sort of reply, two knights appeared.  Itzal recovered quickly, pulling his hood and mouthpiece over him out of habit and drawing Yakimba, taking a stance with Velnia between themHe was about to fight beside Teayre in a quest, and she was either angry or worried about him.

Iron Knight Information:

<<Iron Knight>> is a respawning Quest Mob and has the following statistics:

HP: 660

Damage per Attack: 198

Bleed, on a MD of 9 or 10, for 2 turns. Dealing 12 Damage per turn.

Thorns, Deals 12 Damage To Enemy if hit.

Itzal watched as the knights charged at them and Itzal activated charge with Teayre.  His intentions were to fight alongside her and he would do the best he could.  After activating charge and releasing shadow explosion, he killed both knights, Yakimba bathed in lightning as he struck, a critical hit landing on the monsters.  They didn't die however as it seemed they were leveled with Itzal instead of set stats.  Perhaps the system recognized the strength of both Itzal and Teayre combined?  At any rate, he noted that they had thorns on them, and now they had bleed and paralysis.  "Who I am," he said softly, but detectable after his attack.

The quiet stutter from Itzal reached the red head’s ears before she had moved, her blade held out to one side as the knights formed around her. A screech of metal against metal, lightning streaking around. Narrowing her eyes Teayre looks through the brilliant light to see a small darkness. “Itzal.” She mused quietly, looking to see the that a paralysis symbol was evident next to the health bars of the knights she places a hand on her compatriots shoulder. “You can be strong and gentle, that is who you are Itzal.”

Her body arched as she turned spinning around, her blade whirling. “I am who I am. You are who you are.” Her charge skill took her forwards into the mobs, the bright green of her sword art raging out. Hitting the Knight on the left cutting deep into it, another loud screech sounding out. She looked at Velina the dragon and offered her arm to the creature as she came to a halt, walking away from the mobs. “I am the Crimson Maiden, I here Aereth has been player killing, but he’s not killed anyone on the front lines. Manta Gaul and Ebony Rose. They are the two biggest kills I’ve done. In the middle of the boss fight I took them down.” Her eyes glinted for a second, “Itzal, you need to understand what you risk when partying with me.”

Itzal listened to Teayre as she spoke and moved.  He felt her hand on his shoulder and while most would freeze in place or move to a defensive stance, due to it being Teayre who was touching them, Itzal turned his body to her, as if he were turning to listen to a friend.  He heard her tell him that he had the ability to be strong and gentle, and that this was who he was.  Strong and gentle huh?  She hadn't seen Ulises then.  Even now he understood that he had anger at some subconscious level.  If that was released he thought...  He was unsure of what would happen.  Maybe that's why he tried to be so strategic, so logical, so reasonable all the time.  To avoid the risk or need of anger?  Perhaps.  Or perhaps it was more than that.  Somehow, although Ulises was more spastic, he was able to control his own anger.  To channel it and direct it to what he needed.  Could Itzal somehow achieve that feat?  He then heard Teayre begin to describe herself.  From what he heard it seemed like she was condemning herself to isolation and solitude, still haunted by her past deeds.  Itzal was being haunted with a villain he had created.  She was chased by things she did.  He supposed they had something in common after all.

He watched as the knights were shifting, attempting to break through their paralysis while he charged forward to get another strike on them.  When he launched at them however, he saw a flash of gold somewhere nearby which channeled his thoughts elsewhere:  Fearx.  The player always wore golden armor of the highest quality.  Unfortunately this distraction caused his blade to miss his targets barely.  He recovered quickly however and leaped back before the monsters could swing again.  "Teayre, I understood the risk when I went with you and Calrex, and I know the risk now.  I thank you for your concern of course."  Teayre was proving to him that people could change.  If she could change, surely Fearx could?  But then...  Was that gold flash a figment of his imagination, or was Fearx really nearby?
