{SP-F4} Forsaken Legacy Part 2

Recommended Posts

Itzal had come a very long way since the last time he soloed.  Charge was nearly maxed out.  He now had battle healing this time around, rank three to boot.  And he also had Yakimba, a demonic sword that Hikoru apparently had transformed through the heart sticker and given to Itzal as a gift, to which Itzal would always be thankful for.  He hoped to repay him someday.  Today however was not the time to use the weapon.  He planned on delving even further into the dungeon to see what that door in the boss room was.  Could it possibly be another dungeon?  A loot room of some kind?  Perhaps some info on the dwarves?  Itzal couldn't be certain.  What he did know however, was that he would go down there to find out for himself.  Now that he had rank three battle healing, the next step would be to increase his light armor skill to rank three, and then get the athletic mod as soon as possible.  Once he did that, his damage would go permanently up by one point.  This was quite exciting he thought to himself.  Soon enough he might not need many other players to aid him.

Itzal entered the frozen caves which he had cleared the last time he was on this floor, heading downwards towards the doorway.  As he traveled he thought about Corvo and Dreadshot.  The two had told him they would meet up with him at some point and he trusted that they weren't following him while stealthed.  Partly because he did trust them, and partly because his detection mod hadn't gone off yet.  Itzal walked through the caves with Faithkeeper at the ready.  He hadn't hit the dungeon yet, but that didn't mean that-  Itzal caught movement to his left and swiveled his body swiftly out of the way of the huge hairy arm that shot out at him, drawing his sword as he stabilized himself in front of the frost troll.  That didn't mean he wouldn't encounter monsters from time to time.  Itzal activated charge and struck the monster with meteor strike, the immediate impact driving it back a little ways.  Velnia ignited with electricity, ready to aid Itzal now that the mob revealed itself.

Itzal watched as the troll decided to charge at him which really wasn't the smartest of ideas.  Itzal ran towards it but changed directions and ran on the wall, pushing off and leaping over the troll while Velnia preformed a headbutt.  The troll was knocked onto it's back but Velnia was dazed in the process.  Itzal turned around and released Meteor Strike on the frost troll, lashing through it's body.  By the time he finished the sword art, the monster began to push itself up from the ground, growling as it did.  Clearly it was pissed but it wasn't going to have any real effect on Itzal.  The monster wasn't that very accurate to begin with so it didn't matter too much how angry it became.  The monster lashed at him but Itzal backflipped out of the way, keeping himself out of it's dangerous reach.  This troll wasn't a match for Itzal, just a loot source.

This monster wasn't at a high enough intelligence rate to understand that there was only one way this fight could end.  However even if it did know, Itzal was pretty sure the frost troll would not go down without a fight.  No mob did.  Despite that fact, Itzal liked to think that there were more options than most players assumed there were.  Most players believed that it was either kill the mob or flee.  Itzal knew that while that was the case with most mobs, like said frost troll, there were some mobs that had more complicated intelligence and backstory, like the wolves and warg back on floor one.  Itzal rushed at the frost troll again and released Meteor Break, dealing another one hundred and thirty two damage on the beast.  This wouldn't take very long at all of course.  But still, he wished he could get to the doorway faster....

The Frost troll was getting real sick and tired of the black clothed, metal armed, stick thing laying fatal wounds on it and knew that it was time for a change in tactics.  The frost troll couldn't keep track of where the black stick was heading, so it would just need to remove the area itself.  The frost troll gave out a roar and slammed both of it's fists down onto the icy ground, causing cracks to travel in all directions and the ceiling broke up, causing rocks, icicles and debris to start falling.  When the stick was hit the troll lashed out it's fury upon it.  Itzal watched helplessly as the troll lashed at his healthbar, and it would have been an issue, if his battlehealing hadn't been there.  He watched as his health went up by forty five points before beginning to push against the frost troll's attack.

Itzal was not very happy about the fact that he had been outsmarted by the frost troll.  Still it did make this fight interesting.  Velnia started shooting electricity into the frost troll's face which stunned it long enough for Itzal to push the rubble off of himself just in time to get it off of him.  The monster swung at him again but Itzal narrowly evaded that attack, stumbling as he got to his feet and attempted to regain his balance.  Which wasn't easy when the frost troll tried nonstop to hit Itzal again.  Velnia continued to shock the frost troll but the monster was becoming more and more immune to the electrical attacks.  Itzal could see this plainly.  Which was why once he regained his balance he immediately struck a counter attack, releasing meteor strike on the frost troll and dealing another one hundred and thirty two points of damage to it.  He needed to maximize his defensive skills yes, but he needed a way to gain more damage as well.

The frost troll wasn't going to give up easily, Itzal knew that.  Still, it wasn't good enough.  The troll tried to smash down debris on Itzal again but surprise attacks only worked twice on the stupid.  Itzal was far from that.  Keeping a careful eye on the weak points in the ceiling as well as the troll, he maneuvered his way around the battle field and gracefully evaded the monster more and more frequently.  He thought about something:  On occasions he needed damage more than anything else, he could technically use martial arts.  He did after all, have two ranks in the skill already.  Of course he needed to max out battle healing and light armor to ensure his survival first.  He released meteor strike another time on the frost troll.  One more hit should do the trick and the troll would be down for the count....  Wow, he needed to find a better way to phrase things.

Itzal was gaining more and more speed as he ran around the frost troll, landing basic slashes and quick pierces as he went, making constant hit and runs.  The frost troll of course, roared in anger but any time it tried to make an attempt and grab him, Velnia would shoot it with a volt of lightning.  Falling debris or thrown obstacles would no longer have any effect as he seemed to see it before it happened, moving out of the way entirely.  It's health bar slowly dropped further and further and soon enough, it hit the right point.  Itzal charged up meteor break and when he closed in on the troll released it, finishing off it's health points.  The monster roared before shattering into crystals, the reward menu popping up.  Itzal slowed down from run, to fast walk to walk, and then stopped entirely, taking a look at the menu.

Itzal opened his menu and navigated his way over to the unidentified item.  As he did so he sat down on a rather large and seemingly polished rock to rest up.  He began to scroll through his equipment list until he found it.  It was armor most definitely, but other than that he had no way of knowing what it would be.  He selected it and the message popped up stating that he would need to identify it.  He clicked identify and the loading symbol popped up.  He waited a little bit, Velnia landing on his shoulder as he did.  He chuckled and rubbed her head and neck, a great wide smile popping up on her face.  Soon enough it was finished and he checked.  Heavy armor.  The item appeared and he checked it out.  The armor surprised him once he saw it.  When it emerged Velnia's head turned to see it and her jaw dropped down.

The armor itself was layers of thick leather cloth with dark iron armor.  The helmet and fur cape gave it a viking like appearance.  However what was the more interesting part about this particular piece of armor, was the fact that it was half covered in ice, and the eye slits glowed a blue light.  Light blue technically.  It seemed like something Itzal should have expected from a frozen floor.  He inserted it back into his inventory, the huge suit vanishing from sight.  He checked to see what it's name was:  Frost walker.  A decent name and expected.  Itzal wouldn't know it yet, but wherever the wearer walks with it, the footsteps left behind freeze over.  With the identification part over with, Itzal decided he may as well look for some materials while heading down to the door.  He looked around, activating reveal to make things a little bit easier but didn't spot anything.

Itzal looked over to Velnia.  "Hey Vel, let's try to find any materials that might be useful ok?  Once we rack up enough we can sell them either in bulk or to multiple craftsmen."  Velnia nodded before flying all over, attempting to use up some of her excess energy.  Itzal shook his head with humor before continuing on.  As he walked he kept reveal active, and soon enough he thought he spotted something in the wall.  Turning off reveal he drew his sword and gave a powerful thrust to the right of where the item was.  The sword cut through the ice but stopped when it struck the stone behind it.  He pulled the blade out and stabbed the left side, seeing a few cracks forming but not quite there.  Finally he stabbed the center with less power and the ice crumbled, revealing the materials that rested inside the ice.

The materials turned out to be a few song crystals and what looked like possible ingredients for alchemical purposes.  Maybe it could be grind into powder or something?  Regardless Itzal had more materials.  He inserted them into his inventory and began to proceed forward.  He was passing the first room which meant he was getting closer.  There was two rooms, then the large room where he fought the frost troll father or whatever it was.  It kind of looked like a frost giant from Skyrim.  He stopped as he spotted a pile of gems with his reveal mod.  There was one material that always seemed to be surrounded by gemstones.  He knelt down and began to dig, Velnia swooping down to assist with the process.  Soon enough the snow and ice were pulled away to reveal three gemstones and one mithril shard.  Itzal picked it up and looked at it before inserting that into his inventory as well.

All the mithril shards he had been gathering.  He was definitely going to have it all crafted into armor or maybe a sword.  But if he made it into a suit of armor, what on earth should he have it look like?  It was going to be bright and silver like, so he shouldn't have a rogue appearance like most of his armor was based on.  Perhaps a type of outfit closer to Itzal's twilight cloak?  Or maybe a blend.  Whatever he did he would be doing at a later time.  He scanned the area for materials but he didn't spot anything.  Thus he decided to keep moving forward when Velnia flew up in front of him with a rumbling stomach.  Itzal rolled his eyes before pulling out a small slice of bread and tossing it in the air, which of course she caught and devoured.  "Come on Vel, we're getting close.  I want to see what's behind that door."

As they drew near, Itzal went ahead and opened his menu.  When checking for a dungeon, there was always a percentage chance that was involved in some way.  So when he did handle the door's mechanism, he'd need to have his LD armor equipped and ready to go.  Hopefully, whether it was a dungeon or not, there would be information on the dwarves here.  It had become a theory of Itzal's that perhaps this area was more like a camp.  Kind of like merchants or soldiers camping outside the city gates.  Perhaps he could be wrong and perhaps he was right.  Either way, it stood to reason that this was an entrance or exit of some sort.  He opened his menu and switched his gear from Niger Natio, to Twilight Cloak, his stats changing from evasion to searching skills.  Maybe he'd find a chest or two on this venture.  Thanks to the patch they seemed to emerge more often than usual.

Itzal made his way down the tunnels until he finally reached the door.  Itzal had time to observe the door up close now and he did just that.  The metal seemed to be somewhere along the strength of steel, and yet had a gold-bronze look to it.  The designs on the door were runes and if Itzal had more time, he might be able to get their alphabet down, translate the runes from dwarven to Japanese.  But right now he was focused on the lock mechanism itself.  Itzal didn't have a key, but after having inspected it the last time he was able to put together a makeshift object that was close enough to the original design.  Itzal fit the piece in and the device activated.  He began to make his way around the puzzle.  These puzzles were the dwarves version of a combination lock.  Only those who knew the pattern could unlock it.  Luckily, Itzal was a fast learner.  Soon the doors began to swing open.

Itzal had unlocked it and now it was time to head into the dungeon, if it was.  According to his detection skills, once he unlocked the door, a dungeon was discovered.  It was only a matter of time now.  Difficulty was intermediate, which meant he needed to eliminate ten targets.  If he fought more than one target with an AoE attack, he'd deal about one hundred and thirty five damage to them.  The only question was whether or not he wanted to risk the increased damage.  Two enemies would deal three hundred and seventy eight damage total.  It would take Itzal about four to five hits to kill them with an aoe attack, which meant five chances for them to strike him.  He had one thousand two hundred and sixty health points which meant it would take them three hits to eliminate Itzal.  Of course if he added in mitigation and battle healing, two mobs would deal two hundred and eighty two points of damage.  Which would take four or five hits to end Itzal.  Far better odds, especially with his evasion skills.  He opened his menu and switched to Niger Natio.  He also consumed the LD bonus item he had received from before, increasing his LD permanently by three.

The doors began to open as Itzal pressed his hand on the device, activating it.  As the doors opened up he noted that this hallway was very well carved and polished.  The archway lined with square pillars of that metal that connected together at the arch point.  At the end of the hallway seemed to be another room.  He began to make his way down there, looking at how well designed this place was, constructed to withstand any form of damage from the outside world.  One could live in here and never notice any catastrophic event on the world above.  When he reached the room he saw that it was a large square room and two doors:  One large pair dead ahead and one smaller to the right.  By glancing it looked like this might be a place where guards were positioned in case there was an attack, maybe guards to check for any threat on persons.  Suddenly two statues came to life, a red glow coming from them indicating a fiery strength.  Itzal charged his sword art and activated his charge skill, releasing Shadow Explosion on the two before they had time to react.  They were made of metal and stone so it was clear bleed and paralysis would not work on these.

Itzal watched as the golems tried to strike him but they were unsuccessful and Itzal easily dodged them.  What he didn't expect however was one of them charging up and shooting a fireball at him.  He evaded this too, but the fireball exploded and nearly got Velnia, who yelped in surprise before looking at the smoke rising from her tail.  It didn't hurt of course, but it sure annoyed her.  Itzal rushed at them again, dodging their fireballs and releasing Shadow Explosion again.  Their health dropped yet again, just a few points shy of halfway.  The golems seemed to have intellect, though very little, and their forearms altered slightly to become shield like pieces.  Itzal was going to have to adjust his strategy at this point.  Hopefully this wouldn't take too too long.  He wanted to get this dungeon over with.  He needed the experience points if he was going to be useful in the frontlines.

Velnia flew in and over between flying fireballs, spinning around them as she dived in to attack but Itzal knew that electricity would not be effective on these monsters unless he managed to discover a way to peel their outer armor off.  In any case, these monsters were nearing their demise and it wouldn't be long before Itzal was making his way to the second group of monsters, wherever they were hiding.  He still didn't know much about this dungeon save for he was in an entrance of some sorts as well as the fact that it was definitely dwarven made.  The golems swung and blocked, struck at over and over again, but Itzal nimbly evaded each and every single attack they made towards him.  Then he activated Shadow Explosion, reducing their health down to one hundred and eighty nine points.  It should not be long now.  Soon enough the secrets of this dungeon would be unlocked...  Hopefully.

Itzal continued to evade the golems who continued to fling fireballs at him.  Anytime he tried to get close they would turn their arms into shields and swing them at him, not hitting him but forcing him to back off.  Velnia tried to distract the two but they were intelligent and contained enough awareness to keep her at bay as well.  The two worked with each other, keeping an eye on each other's back, taking turns targeting Itzal and Velnia, and each switching if either of the two avatar's tried anything.  Itzal came up with a solution however.  They needed to be unpredictable.  If they did that, the golems wouldn't be able to register a pattern.  And so the two shot all over the place, both of them bouncing off of walls until Itzal was close enough to release Shadow Explosion, narrowly dodging one of their fireballs.
