      The SAO Staff Team!   02/22/2017

      Hello members of SAO-RPG!

I'm sure most of you (if not some) have noticed or heard changes were made to the staff team. If you are applying to staff, you may have noticed that the application process has recently changed. This has all happened because of a reformation of the staff team and the way it operates. The staff now has separate teams for development. These teams are: Floor Creation Team [Floors, Quests/Events, Bosses], Systems & Clarifications Team, and Player Support Team.

"Who is on these teams?" Well the answer to that lies below! Floor Team Systems & Clarifications Team Player Support Team * - Denotes Team Lead

We also have a team to work on and develop the current systems but that team will search for its members and is not allowed to be applied to.

Now you may be asking, "Shark, how does one apply to the Staff Team?" And I have but 1 simple answer!
Go read this thread and it may answer all your questions!

If you have any more questions, send me a PM and I will answer your questions about staff. (Only the format of teams and/or the application process)

SAO 2.0 May Patch Notes   05/16/2017

Praise thee to @Teion, in which spent her time creating all these patches. <<May 2017 Patch Notes>> Hello players! The following are complete notes on the upcoming patch that will be released once Floor 21 has been unlocked. These rules are not yet in effect, but an announcement will be made once they are officially implemented.
As always, any threads that are in-progress when the patch goes live will follow the same rules as when they were started. Skills, items, new threads and evaluations, etc., must adhere to all new rules once the patch has been released.
        General Rule Updates:
First off, there are a few general rule changes and clarifications. These have been amended or added to the relevant guides until the 2.0 rewrite has been completed. Post Count Requirements: A completed page of roleplay is 20 in-character posts. Thread summaries are mandatory, but they may be posted either in a separate post or together with the last IC post. Rules on Vanity Potions: Cannot affect a player's psyche. Cannot manipulate a player's will. Cannot alter an avatar's appearance in drastic ways (missing limbs, transmogrification, etc.) Cannot affect any systems that would be directly controlled by Cardinal (pain dampeners, language or speech, players' senses, etc.) Alcohol in SAO: While alcoholic drinks exist in Sword Art Online and can be created by Cooks, players do not actually ingest any alcohol they may drink. It is not possible to become drunk, however some players could be prone to a placebo effect. Regardless, it is important to note that players cannot become intoxicated by drinking alcohol.
      Dice Roller Tutorial Update:
The Dice Roller has been updated with some new rules regarding the "Roll Purpose" section: Rolls must clearly state the full action in the Roll Purpose field. When attacking: targets, sword arts, skills, etc., must be included. When crafting: tier and item type (not enhancements) must be included. Any loot, crafts, etc., that do not abide by the new rules must be submitted for evaluation before the end of the Floor 20 boss fight. Evaluations that do not meet the new criteria after the patch's release will not be able to be approved.
      Appraisal Rework and Loot Changes:
The Merchant's Appraisal system has been reworked to Identify: The loot table and treasure chest guides have been rewritten. Permanent items obtained through chests or from killing mobs are now "Unidentified". Unidentified items are not submitted for evaluation by the person who looted the item. These items must be brought to a Merchant to be identified. Unidentified items cannot be used or equipped. Merchants will use their crafting rolls to identify items, similarly to the appraisal system. The Merchant who identifies the item is responsible for submitting the item for evaluation before it can be used.
The Loot Guide has been rewritten: There is now a Floor minimum and maximum for standard parameters. Monsters may not be spawned below or above these stats. Players must use a post action out of combat to inspect unidentified weapons and armor to determine their type. Players may not search for materials in safe zones, shops, etc. Separate Loot Die rolls are required when facing multiple enemies.
The Treasure Chest system has been revamped: Chests can be searched for every 20 posts. Sub-dungeons and chests cannot be searched for closely together. The Picking skill is no longer required to open chests. It is still the only modifier that affects rolls to open chests. Treasure chest rewards have been changed. Items found in chests are also unidentified. Check out the complete updates in the new Loot & Treasure Chest Guide and Merchant Guide sections.
      <<The Gemini>> Quest Rewrite:
<<The Gemini>> quest and the skills it awards (Concentration and Disguise) have been rewritten: Players that have already completed <<The Gemini>> may re-take the quest in order to switch the skill they received in their initial completion. Players may not repeat the quest if they are not switching their current skill. Repeat completion will not award the col or additional SP from the quest rewards. Concentration (5 round cooldown): Gives +1 to the BD result for a single action. Can be applied after the roll. Can only be used against monsters. Disguise (5 round cooldown): Gives +1 to the BD result for a single action. Can be applied after the roll. Can only be used against players/NPCs.
New Beginner Quest: <<The Venomous Warg>>:
A new beginner quest has been released! With a level cap of 15 or below, this quest can be taken solo or with a party of 2.
        Skill & Mod Changes:
Support players rejoice! First Aid has been reworked and given a few new mods. A new skill/mod focused around energy is being added. Focused Howl and the Dismantling mod have been adjusted. Fighting Spirit and Picking have been reworked. First Aid: No longer requires a roll to use. Healing amount has been reduced to 4% max HP per rank, down from 8%. Now has an energy cost based on the amount of healing done. Field Medic (Mod): No longer requires a roll to use. Energy cost now scales with user's total energy. New Mod - Sharpness: Increases your target's damage for a short time. Does not stack. New Mod - Barrier: Increases your target's mitigation for a short time. Does not stack. New Mod - Purify: Removes a status effect from your target
New Skill - Energize: Spend energy to restore another target player's energy. New Mod - Hyperactive: Increase a target's passive energy regeneration for a short time.
Focused Howl: Now generates 5 hate on a single target. Fighting Spirit: Increases Hate generated from attacks by 1. Missing an attack will generate 1 Hate, successful attacks will generate 2, and critical hits will generate 3 before other modifiers. Picking: No longer has ranks. Provides a flat LD bonus to opening chests. Dismantling (Mod): Reduced SP cost to 8 from 9.
        Enhancement List Update:
The Enhancement List has been completely rewritten. We recommend checking out the link above and reviewing the full list. For some quick notes, the following has been significantly changed: Cook/Fisherman enhancement names have been normalized. Light Momentum: Gives temporary Accuracy instead of damage after an unsuccessful attack. Regen: Reworked. Now provides a healing over time effect after taking damage. No longer stacks with Battle Healing. Recovery: Now scales with Tier. Taunt: No longer unique. Can be applied to weapons, shields, and trinkets. Skill Rank: Renamed to "Expertise". Alcoholic: Renamed to "Protein". Reworked. Now reduces mitigation instead of evasion. Energize: Renamed to "Vitality". Now scales with Tier. Monster Call: Reworked. Monsters spawn at minimum loot requirement stats. LD bonus scales with slots but does not stack with other consumable LD bonsues. Misperception: Damage reduced from enemies changed to 10% (rounded down) from a flat 4. Fallen Damage: Now triggers on successful attack rolls of 6-8 (before modifiers) rather than any non-critical attack. Phase: Reduced the slot cap to 1 down from 2. Removed the second slot effect. Freeze: Attacks against frozen enemies now removes the effect and deals additional damage. Life Mending: Reworked. Now increases the user's healing done to other targets through the use of skills and consumable items. Absolute Accuracy: Reworked. Allows natural attack rolls of 1 to no longer automatically miss. Gives +1 to the BD when attacking (stacks with regular Accuracy). Caps at 1. Flame Aura: Reduced the mitigation received to (6 per slot * Tier) down from (9 per slot * Tier). Reduced the damage dealt to (5 per slot * Tier) down from (8 per slot * Tier). Combat Craft has been removed. Paralyze Water has been removed.

Sey followed her, noting how adorable her face was. She loved him and felt a twitch of irritation from that sentence. She was thrilled to here that Sey loved her for her, not caring about the rest of her body. He cared about her. But... She would always be adorable. Short girls would always be cute, or adorable. Never beautiful or gorgeous. She guessed Sey liked her small figure. She certain could not see him with a girl like Isabelle. He could probably think she is attractive, perhaps even fall in for her spell. But it wouldn't work, he would not be happy. As she mentioned her smell of Vanilla, he inhaled deeply and exclaimed that she did. She giggled and replied through laughs, "Your such an idiot! We have kissed, we have been so close... and you mean to tell me you have NEVER smelt Vanilla?" She laughed at him, letting her feelings express themselves entirely. She always thought half the pleasure of kissing, was that you could literally breath in the other person. You could use literally every one of your senses to explore them and their mouth. Taste their lips, touch their body, smell their fragrance, hear their heartbeat and feel it vibrate through your hands. Did boys not feel the same?

"Wait, we kissed before?" He teased further, smiling as he meant nothing when that sentence came out. But of course, he needed a good build up in order to carry out the task of flirting. "What was it like? Can you show me again?" Of course, he might have come across the scent, but thought nothing of it. After all, out of all things for him to think about, her scent did not come to mind. If anything, it was more just her taste, that and the thought of them being together. They didn't kiss often, and considering the amount of time they spent since their last kiss, it was much harder to pinpoint such details. "In all honesty, it's not as if I had even kissed anyone else before you. Are they supposed to be used to gain data from others? I always believed it was a way of showing affection to a lover." He didn't see many people do it often, mainly just lovers, or what looked to be anyways. That, and the fact that his mother always traveled, he was unable to see many things like that, nor did he know what to do or expect.

She gave him an unnerving stare after he joked if they had kissed or not. He was walking on a thin ice, and with as hot as he was.... He then asked her what it was like and if she would show him again. "Later lover boy" she said as cool as ice. She turned away from him. Him kissing her was one of the most memorable times in her life. Most of their kisses and been full of tears or desperation. They did not kiss much, but each of them blossomed through her memory, lodged in her mind forever. She occasionally had pangs where she wanted to kiss him for hours on end, but she always restrained herself. Sey had gives her everything, so she had no idea why she stopped herself. Sey than appeared to be asking her a legitimate question over kissing. She rolled her eyes and replied, "You were my first kiss as well. It is not to gain data on the other, but more for pleasure and affection for both you and your lover. You should try to be a bit more explorative. Alright, enough on the topic of kissing. There is only one place to learn, and it is not going to be here" she told him. A little bit more searching and then they would go home. She wanted at least twenty four materials. That would be enough for one to two crafters.

He laughed lightly in her response to his "question". Playtime was over it seemed, he was going to have to do something with his time in the meantime. As "explorative" as he would like to be, he was plenty of that anywhere else. For example, he didn't care too much as he would just step casually instead of quietly like he should be. He was a treasure hunter as well as a fighter, that was what an Adapter build can unlock for him. As he would walk through, he noticed another glow out in the distance. Interesting development, but he was going to have to go further in order to check it out. With his outdated spear in hand, he prepared himself in case he were to get mauled in the process. Unfortunate how he had to be too careful around these things, as opposed to the other twenty floors, which allowed him to fight freely without a care in the world of him running the risk of death. "Well what do you know, I found a chest."

She followed him forward, faint shadows cast across the the walls of the area. They were probably another hour's walk from that town in the distance. Maybe they should turn back and cut half off the distance. Then Sey said something random. That he had found a chest. She whirled on him and sure enough, a rustic looking chest sat there. She looked down on it and said, "Be careful, it could be one of those bug mimics. It's a low chance, but those things would be deadly to me, and possibly you" She took a few steps back and began to scan for any materials that might be sitting around. She has faith in Sey to do good unlocking the chest, but she did not dare e in the immediate vicinity. Her dagger was in her hand, and she watched from the sidelines. Sey was a good fighter, but she was here if he needed backup. "Have you found yourself anything cool lately? Any items I guess?" Sey had always been that one player without a unique weapon or item. And with the new merchant update, it was hard for her to find a spear to evaluate. She would make a deal with the blacksmith for h her good items though. She wanted spears and rapiers. Armor would be good too, but she wondered if the blacksmith would be wanting a constant supply of materials for this deal. "Find out how to open it yet?

Greed opened up death on the both of them. He knew how to pick the lock, as did any other player now these days. His chances were no better than anyone else's as he did not have the picking skill yet. So unfortunately, when he opened it, it took a good bite at him, reducing his health a small amount. "Ah!" The snow-haired player cried out, more due to shock rather than fear. Seems like the trap had been set. Damn, his equipment was in none too good a state right now unfortunately. "Hey Hidden, you might want to hold on, this might be a very painful ride..." Sey warned, backing up away from the chest as he looked through his inventory, it was going to take some time for him to change into his outdated battle gear. But those had better odds with beating this trap than actually fighting with his loot gear. While he was at it, he was going to try to call Kyu onto the scene to assist him.

OOC: You have the WORST luck ever

Hidden would turn quickly as she heard Sey shout. In seconds her dagger was in her hand, and she stood beside Sey, dagger at the ready. Her hand moved through her inventory, switching from Shadows Eye to her black diamond accuracy ring. The familiar weight on her hand was comforting, but Sey and her were unprepared for the fight. She was far too low leveled, and he had no tier three equipment. Sey could take quite a few more hits, but she would be dead in a few chomps. She would have to wait until Sey had the hate on the chest, or she would be dead very quick. She lowered her dagger to in front of Sey's chest mimicking what a female wolf would do for her mate, protecting his throat and vitals. The chest probably had low A.I. but it had quite a bit of health for the two of them to take on. She herself could not even deal a hundred damage yet. She was close, but the leap to rank five dagger would have to cover that. She was nearing the stage in which Hikoru's tier two damage was. If he did not have tier three, she would be catching him soon. "Get your mitigation equipment on, and then we can start wailing on this hunk of metal until it dies" She lazily made a motion at the chest with her dagger.

OOC: You wanted it, m8 :T

The chest was on a rampage, and it was going to take a while before he was able to get his equipment on. "While I do that, perhaps you should try to stall it." He explained as he would finally find the items in his inventory that he needed. The mimic took a shot again at Sey while he was changing his gear. It tried to leap at him, but only for Sey to kick it to the side. "Don't you dare touch me." He ordered it as he would place on his new items, though now he was unable to attack. At least he was able to survive the first attack, and his body was beginning to heal itself thanks to the third tier battlehealing. His skills were brought up by another level, now that was reassuring to him. Placing himself back onto his feet, he would look to Hidden. "Not my move now, but at least I have my gear equipped now."

OOC: You never added your Battle healing in.

Hidden listened to Sey as he mentioned stalling it while he was switching gear. She nodded, but the chest was already chomping at them again. Desperately trying to chomp Sey. He kicked it away with its foot and it began to move a distance away, seem confused, and then turn around chomping at the again. She moved forward, coming in from the side. She darted right in front of the chest, turning it to the side wildly. It made a snap at her, but it was way to slow to hit her. She thought the creature was cute for a monster, but knew it would eat them for lunch if they did not kill it. She returned to Sey's side who had just finished equipping all of his combat gear.  He looked prepared for battle and she knew that he was much more capable than her in terms of damage. He had tier three damage at his side, where she only had tier two. He would deal a lot more damage than she could. "Sey, let's finish this off and then we can just go and hurry home" she said in a softened tone. Maybe she could find just one more patch of materials before going.

"Well, playtime is over. I will start off this dance." Sey declared as he swiped the spear tip against the ground, causing a sudden spark to emit from the cavern floor before he would lunge his body at the enemy. The Mimic lashed at him with a giant set of teeth, only for the spear to pierce through it from the mouth, a basic slash. However, Sey swung the mimic over his head before smashing it to the ground once more. Technically default damage, and so he would end the rest with a few slashes downwards, then proceeding to walk away from the enemy. That felt great to execute, this new damage that he obtained was much more effective than he thought it would be. Given about two or three more chances, they will be on their merry way home. "Don't worry about that mimic, love, it's bite can barely reach far." He explained to her, holding the spear behind his head as he smiled, watching what would happen next.

Sey, now prepared, waited for the mimic to near and then lashed forward, dealing quite a bit of damage to the creature. The chest fell back, retreating a bit. She smiled, darting forward at the creature. She neared it, her dagger becoming encased in a bright orange light. She struck the creature, dealing a reasonable about of damage, and denting its metal figure. She backed away as it turned, now snapping back at her. She stopped at Sey's side,  knowing that when the chest neared, he would strike it and deal a ton of damage to its sorry... lid? Previously, he had seemed godlike as he stuck the mimic, swinging it over his head by his spear and then making downward strikes. She wondered what his damage with a critical was. His spear was probably on for accuracy at the moment, so no bleed damage would happen. If she got to hit it with her bleed damage, then it would be in trouble.

Closer and closer the chest neared when Hidden stopped by his side, she dealt a decent amount of damage to it. Considering her tier, it made him wonder how devastating she would be if she were his level. Well, she was near the second tier, so this will just about double. And the damage that follows up behind her would cause much devastation to the enemies. Finally, he took a swing at the mimic when it arrived, piercing through its... Body, questionably it's body. The health of the monster went down rapidly as more time passed. However, it eventually broke from the pierce of his spear, leaving it in a terrible state as it's health bar was brought to red. Ironically, that's how Sey thought it would be on his end, rather than that of the monster. "Well love, care to end this for us?" He asked Hidden, holding his spear behind the back of his head.

Hidden watched as Sey moved forward, whirling his spear through the air and then thrusting his spear rapidly through the chest over and over. She smiled at the man's work, the creature rapidly dropping health. DPS was not his main build, but he was surely doing a good job. If he had a two handed spear, the chest would have surely fallen by now. She would end up dealing almost as much as him in her tier two, but he had worked on tanking and scouting and she was pretty sure he had said something about mastering healing. As he returned from the onslaught, he told her to finish it off for them. She nodded, turning towards the chest. Her dagger took an orange hue, blazing in the darkness. She had never understood why her color was orange, but it never bothered her. She darted forward, moving into attacking position. Her dagger turned from a blazing orange to a smooth dark. Her dagger moved through the chests body without restraint and then tendrils of energy courses through it. The chest burst apart instantly, leaving them with some rewards. It included a rare tier three armor. She would have to identify which kind of armor it was and then check it out from there.
