      The SAO Staff Team!   02/21/2017

      Hello members of SAO-RPG!

I'm sure most of you (if not some) have noticed or heard changes were made to the staff team. If you are applying to staff, you may have noticed that the application process has recently changed. This has all happened because of a reformation of the staff team and the way it operates. The staff now has separate teams for development. These teams are: Floor Creation Team [Floors, Quests/Events, Bosses], Systems & Clarifications Team, and Player Support Team.

"Who is on these teams?" Well the answer to that lies below! Floor Team Systems & Clarifications Team Player Support Team * - Denotes Team Lead

We also have a team to work on and develop the current systems but that team will search for its members and is not allowed to be applied to.

Now you may be asking, "Shark, how does one apply to the Staff Team?" And I have but 1 simple answer!
Go read this thread and it may answer all your questions!

If you have any more questions, send me a PM and I will answer your questions about staff. (Only the format of teams and/or the application process)

      [Live] 2.5.0 Patch Notes   10/02/2017

<<2.5.0 Patch Notes>> Main Guide: The main rules/tutorial section has been rewritten. Resources: A Resources section has been added. This contains reference material such as the SP/Level chart, Skills list, Enhancement list, individual profession stats, and a new FAQ. General Rule Changes: Word count requirement in Merchants & Shops section has been reduced to 100 from 150. Col logs are no longer required to include in journals. The Banker system will be used to track currency/materials going forward. New characters and Rebirth characters may choose a Starter Package containing a variety of basic equipment, col, materials, and/or potions. NK/KE tags have been removed. The table for SP gain based on the number of players in a thread has been removed. SP gain is now issued at 1 SP per 3 posts, up to the number of completed pages. (e.g. 3 SP for three pages, requires at least 9 posts) A Skill Refunding System has been added. Players may now pay a col cost to remove known skills and receive a refund of the invested SP. Rules on vanity items have been clarified. Health regeneration outside of combat has been adjusted to (10 * Tier) per post. Stealth and Stealth Detection no longer have a base rating for players. Both now use a LD roll plus a Stealth Rating/Stealth Detection modifier. NPCs and monsters still utilize a base rating (10 as a baseline for player-created mobs). 'Using cover' no longer adds to Stealth Rating. Low light or darkness conditions grant a +1 to Stealth Rating, down from +2. Switch has been added as a game mechanic (no longer a skill). Players may call for a Switch when landing a successful attack. If the Switching player also lands an attack, a Switch is performed and the two players may immediately swap hate values. Players are required to post their level, stats, equipment, skills, etc., in their first post in a thread. This should be a snapshot of your character and should not be changed after the initial post. Players are still allowed to declare their characters at a lower level or with fewer items than what they currently have, but may not claim items that have not been approved or were obtained in an unlocked thread. Turn order rules have been modified slightly to reflect the leniency of Boss Raid combat. Players may post in any order so long as each player and the enemy has gotten one action in a single round. Outside of Boss Raids, parties may have a maximum of 4 players. Combat with more than 4 players should follow a Group order similar to boss raids. When fighting multiple enemies, players must now make individual rolls for each mob. This applies to both making attacks against multiple enemies and multiple enemies making attacks. One roll no longer applies to/for all targets. The Running Away mechanic has been updated. Running away from combat now uses a LD roll with a set of situational modifiers. The col/material values and frequency in the loot table have been adjusted. Labyrinth searching rules have been adjusted. The map fragment system has been removed. Bonus rewards for scouting and defeating the field boss have been adjusted. Housing and Guild Halls have been completely revamped. PvP rules have been adjusted. Players must make an initiative roll when engaging in combat with other players. The extended Player Killing rules/restrictions have been removed. Rules on player cursor colors have been expanded. There is now a strike system for criminal infractions that would cause a player's cursor to turn orange. Killing a green player outside of a duel now results in a permanent orange cursor. An NPC Guard mechanic has been added. Orange players may now enter safe zones, but must stealth/run from guards in certain safe zones. NPC guards have a Stealth Detection rating equal to (Floor / 3), rounded down. Added more detail to character death rules. The RGQ system has been removed. Crafting Changes: Fishing as a profession has been removed. It is now a skill. The CD result chart has been adjusted across all professions (except Merchant). Good and Bad quality items have been removed from the CD result chart. Salvage chances have been adjusted. Alchemists now have a chance to salvage one or both materials when attempting to craft crystals. Crafting Die tools no longer have an effect. Consumables, familiars, housing, and some items still provide EXP and Crafting Attempt bonuses. The process of crafting Feasts has changed slightly. Cooks may now take 3 identical food items and spend two materials to combine them into a Feast. A Feast can be used in a thread to provide that enhancement to up to six players. Artisan craftable item types have been modified (Trinkets, Jewelry, Sculptures). The buffs they can provide are largely unchanged. Alchemist craftable item types have been modified (Salves, Potions, Crystals). The buffs they can provide are largely unchanged. [PP-F21] Crossing Territory <Scouting the 21st Floor Labyrinth>

Recommended Posts

<<Scouting the 21st Floor Labyrinth>>

24 hour post limit

The fight against Lazaro didn't last long, and the team of eight had done well to get to this point.  Opening the doors to the twenty first floor labyrinth, the decor would instantly blind most people that would come in from the dim luminescent flora from the outside.  The lighting within the area seemed to be mostly from the torches that line the walls, but the light from them was reflected several times by the gems and ores at were inlay upon the very walls of the labyrinth.  Trying to pick away at the walls would lead to nothing but disappointment, as the walls were just as indestructible as the previous floors.  That meant that all of the jewels and ores that made up the walls were now only decoration.  Though, that seemed to make more sense in the long run.  The main town made offerings to the "Savage One", as they say.  Was it that the entire labyrinth was its treasure trove, dug into and made into its lair?

One look around, and the hunter simply sighed.

"This place is gaudy.."

Hikoru was followed by Hirru into it. He turned back to the player and gave him a nod. Although the two of them weren't the closest of allies, he knew he was a scout he could trust. He sent a message to Itzal, asking if he wanted to come with his group. He thought about it, and sent Shield a request as well. They would need a good tank if they were to take these things down quickly. His Katana at his side, he gripped his dagger and pulled it out of it's sheath. He didn't want to use his Katana until he was a higher rank into it. He knew he should use it more, but he didn't care. He needed damage to get through here, and that's what he planned to do. He gave a sigh and crossed his arms.

"Hirru, you coming with me? I sent a message to my guild's Scout and Tank, they should hopefully be along shortly." He said, getting used to the light weight of the dagger in his hands. He gave a small sigh and waited to see who else would show up.

(Sent a Message to @Itzal and @Shield to join the expedition)

It has not been that long ago that they defeated the Dragon Knight that guarded the entrance of the labyrinth. With quick preparations, Macradon would grab all of his gear, his newly acquired armor, his new necklace and his greatsword. Grabbing a few potions and a crystal as he left his shop of the 1st floor, he would reach the teleportation plaza of the 1st floor. “Floor 21” he muttered as Balthazar slowly followed his master. The blue light engulfed the two companions as they were transported to the 21st floor. Standing in the gloomy dark city, Macradon would begin his short traveling towards the labyrinth entrance. Without much ado, Macradon would arrive. He would doff his helmet off of his head, having it under his left arm and would dig down his big greatsword into the soil underneath. “The Scarlet Templar is present” he said to the two. Looking over at Hirru, Macradon would give a light nod “Nice to see you, Hunter” as he then would avert his gaze towards Hikoru “I heard you needed one, so I brought and extra” he said handing over a potion made by Zandra. The label read ‘Potion of Vicious Dragon-fang’. Chucking down a potion for himself, Macradon would be battle ready when everyone else would be.

Hikoru heard the Scarlet Templar come up behind him, and he held out a potion. He took it and scanned it over. It seemed legitimate enough. He chugged the potion and saw his Attack stat rise a few points. He chuckled, as he knew that now he would be a threat to the creatures now, and had the chance of keeping up with the other's damage output. He chuckled and gave a nod towards him.

"Good to see your coming along. We need a good sweeper." He said with another small chuckle and a sigh. Now all they had to do was wait for Itzal or Shield to show up, and if they didn't they would probably want to grab another person from the raid and see if they would tag along. That itself would be hard, as some of them had probably gone in already and wouldn't be able to be contacted. He sighed and gave one last look behind to see if he could see anything, but nothing could be seen at this point and time, which was the most difficult to bear. If they didn't message him back he would assume the worst that they weren't coming.

Shield had not wandered far. His life over the last few days had consisted of getting lost and finding his way again with various trusted players as he explored the twenty first floor. As the message pinged his inbox, he looked up from the collapsed pile of luminous crystals that had caved in across the tunnel he had been exploring.

Spoiler

ID# 85582 results: Loot: 1 + 3 LD item + 1 skill + 1 expertise = 6 - No materials (0 total)

Swapping gear:
-Finder's Keeper (-1 XPT: S&D), -Seeking Aura (-3 LD), +Manticore Mask (+15 FLA +45 MIT +TNT), +1 Spirit Spines (+42 THN, +3 REC)

He tossed down the crystal he had been inspecting to pull open his menus.

"It's all just decorative junk anyhow," he thought aloud reading over the new message. "They're already heading inside? Looks like they'll need a meat shield."

With that, he took one last look around and turned on his heels to march back down the way he had come. He was close, so as long as they weren't heading right in the door, he should be in good shape, and he made good time on top of that, only pausing occasionally to make sure he was taking the correct fork until he heard familiar voices down the acoustically active caves. He turned one last corner before catching sight of the party.

"You needed a tank?" he asked, slowing his pace now that he was sure they weren't already stumbling through ahead of him. Also taking advantage of the opportunity, he opened his menus once again to trade out his looting gear for his defensive equipment. "Looks like we already have some decent scouting and firepower. Who else do we expect to hear from?"

As he waited for the rest of the party to appear, for what he knows was only Shield and Itzal missing, Macradon would begin to just walk around the premise, just walking around, hopefully finding something useful in the ground, possibly materials or alike. Without much thought, Macradon would just ponder around, it didn’t seem like he was actively searching for anything, other than his eyes gaining the slightly green and yellow tint that indicated the activation of the Search and Detect skill, greatly increasing his ability to find useful stuff in the ground, and with the Gatherer skill he would usually find the materials in small clusters which he could use at his advantage, finding lots upon lots of materials when dedicating most of a day to farming, which was tedious, but was needed to be done. He would sigh deeply, walking around, seemingly aimlessly. Though to no avail, Macradon failed his short search. Quickly a tank known in the frontlines appeared, Macradon was happy that a dedicated tank was actually present so he didn't have to tank all the damage coming in. "Hey, Shield. Good to see you here. It seems like we're only missing Itzal, but yeah, let's see if someone else could fill out his spot if he chooses not to show up" he said, slowly approaching back to the spot everyone stood at,

Itzal was looking through his inventory, wearing his typical deep purple trench coat, and pulled out the demonic again, looking at the glowing, crystal like blade he had received from Hikoru.  It was so dazzling and impressive, Itzal couldn't believe Hikoru had given it up.  Still, he accepted the offer and wasn't going to get rid of it or anything.  Suddenly a message popped up.  Well speak of the devil he thought.  He read the message and was on his feet in no time.  He replied by saying he'd be there in a bit.  After sending the message he whistled for Velnia to follow and sprinted off towards the town in order to reach the teleporter.  Soon enough he was on the twenty first floor.  When he arrived he saw Hirru, Macradon, Hikoru, Shield and Zandra.  All whom he'd met, and some closer friends.  He smiled and waved at them all.  "Hey guy's!  How are you all doing?"  Velnia flew over to @Zandra, whom she hadn't seen in a while, and licked her cheek before landing on her shoulder and nuzzling her cheek against hers.  Itzal walked over to the @Hikoru and smiled.  "Hey, thanks again for the weapon man.  It means a lot."

Her small frame and legs had caught up with the group. She had speared her hair from her eyes and lifted the blonde from her sight and pushed it back behind her ear. Like a shadow or some form of mysterious force, she had been able to catch up with them. With her being so small it would be hard for anyone to notice unless they were instinctively looking for her. Lavender lips cracked into a smile as she hesitantly questioned what the focus was, "So we are splitting up from here it seems. I wish everyone good luck and safe travels."

Anemone had shot behind Hirru and Macradon, there didn't seem to be anyone else within their guild joining them. She had thought the Commander might, but he might be doing something more important helping keep this guild moving along. She looked at the Jade Hunter and the Templar, they had such cool titles. Perhaps it was too early for her to even be mentioned as a member yet. She felt like one, but she wasn't sure if she was really pulling her weight to show them that she should be in this guild.

"Looks like our group doesn't have a proper tank. But you guys don't need to worry, I'll back you up with my healing powers and a little more!" Her hands started to fill with a dark red energy as it began to crackle between her fingers. Targeting Macradon who would be leading in with the sweeping power of his Two Hander, she figured it would best to dump as much damage as possible into him for faster trash mob clearing. He would get a nice little boost in damage thanks to his Tier 3 avatar and things would be good to go for their opening battle.

Shield gave a nod and took one last survey of those gathered. There were players strong enough to tank, especially with a skilled support at their back. In either case, as much as he enjoyed material hunting with Anemone, he had never been one to need healing. They would be fine without him, and there didn't seem to be any real danger to him when it came to the monsters of this floor. Not yet, at least.

"You all go on ahead," he said, gesturing towards the labyrinth. "I'm going to stay behind and gather some materials if I can. Big parties can't navigate as well in tight spaces, so I'll catch the next train, so to speak."

He turned away and gave a wave over his shoulder, spotting a lump of some sort of glittering blue ore on the ground. He scooped it up and stored it in his inventory before properly taking his leave. No sense crowding the others as they made to strategize.

Macradon would nod at Shield as they parted ways “Alright guys, we’re a tank down, I’ll try to handle the tanking, you guys should focus on getting the monsters down asap. Hunter, try to find open positions on where we can attack, also try to figure out a way to cover as much ground as a group as possible. Anemone, try to keep everyone alive” he said with a smile at the last remark. “Hikoru, Itzal, you two are frontliners, you should know what to do” he said and draw his sword from the ground, donning his helmet again, covering his white hair and red eyes with a just as white and red helmet. “Let’s head out!” he roared through the visor of his helmet as he began charging into the labyrinth. As always, the labyrinth was massive, very very big. He had a hard time trying to figure out which way to go first, but what he probably knew would happen were monsters to appear. Without much more commotion, 4 goblins, riding on their own giant spiders wandered around the halls of the labyrinth. “Bal, let’s go!” he said to his companion as the two charged into combat. No hesitation, no waiting, instant combat, that was what the Vanguard Commander liked. A lightning quick charge would lead him to the monsters and 6 feral swipes would cleave through the spiders and their riders, leaving them at under half health. As his heavy hits struck upon them, they staggered back for a few seconds, giving time for the rest of the party to react.

The battle would begin with Capt. Macradon taking the lead.  With Shield staying behind, the hunter was sure that Zandra would follow with, but when the fighting started, she was nowhere to be seen.  The hunter was expecting as much for Hikoru, since it was in his abilities to do so, but not Zandra.  Did she stay behind?  Those two probably went in another direction.  Smart, as they would need to track more ground than just one group could handle.  Haven't been told the game plan by Capt. Mac, the hunter would agree to it, as it would take slightly longer for him to come up with a complex plan.

Going into the fight, the hunter was glad that he took the safer route of equipment which included his full set mitigation armor.  He didn't think that any luck would be useful on this expedition.  Sliding under Macradon's blade, the hunter activated his own area of effect sword art, Shadow Explosion, to weaken the enemies even further for the rest.

"Weak side spotted.  Back left sides are exposed blind spots.  Go for those!"

There was little time and wait for the guild members to sync up. Macradon, the lead Vanguard along with the Hunter threw themselves into the battle and fray with what appeared to be Hellish looking soldiers riding...spiders? Anemone titled her head to the side and gave a frowny face, "I am not sure what to make of those." she said in her state of confusion. Her vibrant oculars changed direction from the Spider Riders towards the party gauge and examined everyone's health and their stats. "Right. I can do this." Lifting her hands once more as a eerie blue light sparked between her hands. She would encase the lead acting Tank in a small Barrier to help with stifling the damage the would come at him.

Macradon was leading on both fronts as main attacker and as well taking the beating as the party's tank. "He's so brave." She said in a small, quiet voice as her hands targeted her team mate and guild member. There would be no slowing them down today, it would be an easy victory and together they could cage what they needed and get the information they needed to see about this next Boss.

Hikoru gave Itzal a nod as he thanked him for his previous demonic, Yakimba. He shrugged it off as no big deal, as he already had a demonic of his own. He turned to see the group already getting underway, and he grit his teeth. He didn't get any time to enter stealth, and he knew that his first attack wouldn't be as strong as it could be. He moved quickly, unsheathing his dagger and <Charge>ing in, attacking one of the Spider Rider's with his Unique Sword Arts. He attacked seemingly from nowhere, like a large ball of shadow, and skid across the ground next to them, picking up some dust off the stone-cold ground and holding his dagger silently. He looked at Itzal behind and knew that he would be next. He breathed quietly, doing his best to regain his breath. Hopefully he could finish off another one and get some loot, but at the moment he knew that he didn't get anything good from this Spider.

Itzal watched as Anemone arrived.  He was surprised she was with them, but then again she had faced the boss.  She was extremely brave and very strong despite her stats.  He liked her.  When he saw the guild symbol he hoped the guild might actually switch gears and head in a better direction.  The only members Itzal didn't hate were Hirru and Macradon.  Now that he was spending more time with Hirru he was beginning to like the guy.  Heathcliff he didn't care for with his inflated pride, and Mack...  Well after the failed event on the island floor, he disliked Mack entirely.  The group seemed to rush into the fight which Itzal agreed with:  He wanted to help them get to the boss quickly.  After the other's had made their strikes it was Itzal's turn.  Only three left and when he included charge he knew this would be over swiftly.  He activated the skill and released Shadow Explosion on them, reducing the last of their health to zero.  He had received mainly col and materials which he showed to the others.  "Alright, that's four.  How many do we have to take down total?"

Looking over at Itzal, Macradon would reply “By the patch notes that has been circulating, I’m expecting 20 of them to die before we can claim the fragments”. With a cold look in his eyes, though shielded by his helmet, Macradon would begin to run again, trying to find as many monsters as possible. “Alright, everyone! Let’s get this done!” he called out. He quickly engaged upon the first enemies he would be able to see. Alike before, it was somewhat spider themed, but these monsters were merely just spiders. Macradon would trust his small companion to call out when the right time to attack would be, but when he was to engage, there really wasn’t a perfect time. With quick decision making, he would <Charge> in and start the combat. As before, Macradon would cleave 6 times with feral power, cleaving down half of their health with that attack, leaving just the same conditions as before for the rest of the party, but unlike before, these spiders weren’t staggered like the jockeys from before. 4 quick jabs with their fangs quickly dented Macradon’s health, it would slowly begin to regenerate again with his battle healing, showing his capabilities as a tank, being able to withstand this fierce retaliation. “Hunter, weak spots! Attack them while I have their attention!” he called out to the rest of the party, trusting that they would take care of the pesky monsters.

Continuing their venture after the first group was slain, the group explored more of the labyrinth before more mobs spawned in to confront them.  Taking the lead, Capt. Mac kept the mobs trained on him as much as possible, but he wasn't a regular tank, so the attention of the giant spiders could go either way.  With that in mind, the hunter waited instead of launching himself under Mac's attacks.

"Understood!"

Once the final swing was done, the hunter swung around the left flank while the spiders went to town on the his commanding officer.  Oath began to glow red with the intent of attacking the spiders filled the hunter's mind.  The attack pushed his attacks against the abdomen of the spiders, causing additional damage to the times that he did before with the riders.  Were the riders more trained and armored than these feral types?

"Abdomens!  Land more strikes on the underside for added effect."

Once the last four enemies had perished, there was no hesitation in the group as they were moving at a quick rate. Swiftly they had bound from one set of enemies to the next with little or no downtime. With the efforts of how things were going, they were able to utilize the maximum use of their energy reservoirs and able to make a push. Anemone had not expected this to be a train of attacks, she had been use to defeating one group and then resting, but this was different on the front lines. Everyone here seemed to be motivated to finish this as quickly and efficiently as possible.

When they had arrived at the next set of mobs, it was once again Vanguard Lead Macradon going in for the charge but unlike last time, there was a small consequence. Those spiders have found weak points in his armor and cause his HP to drain a bit from their grueling attacks. Anemone, who was in the position of Healing and Support knew what that meant. Her hands began to glow a soft white light, electricity seemed to buzz through her finger tips as she moved her targeted array towards Macradon, sending him a bump in his HP. With a smile, she nodded to herself thinking that this was exactly what she needed to feel useful and thank goodness there was no whiplash from a failed attempt.

Hikoru waited and watched as his comrades quickly and easily beat the last remaining three spider's. He looked and saw that they were already moving forward. He let out a sigh of frustration, knowing that he wouldn't get to use stealth on this fight, so he knew that Charge was the only thing keeping him strong. Ignoring his sharp teeth as he grit them, he moved quickly, <Charge>ing at one of the large spider's and finishing it off quickly, and getting a bit of col for his troubles. He let out a sigh and pocketed it, remembering the number for when they would be splitting it evenly between all of the players. For now he would have to wait his turn and wait another rotation, knowing that it wouldn't be long before they were onto the next group of creatures. He waited, gripping his dagger tightly, awaiting to see what would be happening next, curious and excited to see what else lied beyond the walls of this Labyrinth.

Itzal watched as they moved immediately onto the next group of monsters.  Hopefully they could clear this labyrinth out quickly.  He wasn't too eager about the loot, as they would be splitting it regardless.  He'd probably be getting more loot, and better, by simply soloing dungeons or quests, though the only quests left now were the higher leveled ones he couldn't risk taking on alone.  What Itzal was looking forward in this event was experience points, and being able to discover the boss room.  He had never discovered it yet and he was quite eager to do so for once.  Being a scout build it was technically what he was meant for.  Itzal activated charge once it was his turn and released Shadow Explosion, Velnia attacking with him.  Yakimba suddenly bursted into electricity (courtesy of Velnia) and he managed to land bleed and paralysis on the three remaining spiders.  As he leapt back he knew that one aoe attack, no matter how weak, would end them once and for all.

Watching as his HP fell from the ferocious attacks of the spiders, Macradon would retreat slightly to make room for everyone else to jump in and get a piece of this. As Hirru would come in and quickly analyze the beast they were against, the best spots to attack would’ve been the abdomens. Macradon would nod, that made sense. As everyone else would come in for attacks, Macradon would notice his health bar healing back up to full. It was the work of Anemone, the healer. He wasn’t used to being healed by others, he usually just pressed on and kept fighting until he was in safety by himself to he would let his survival heal for him, it was actually pretty nice having a healer. He didn’t have much time to talk, so he would save the chatter for later. After Itzal would deal his massive attack on the targets, Macradon would proceed to advance again and make his <Blast> sword art delete the last creatures, but as he approached and attacked, just before his blade would land upon the monsters, they shattered into crystals and polygons as the bleed effect from Itzal’s weapon killed them. Without much thought, Macradon would chordle lightly for himself. Standing up and proud, Macradon would look at Anemone “Thanks for the healing” he said with a smile.
