-Zakariah asks you to deliver a package to Lyle Tealeaf, a local Blacksmith

-The Blacksmith, Lyle Tealeaf, thanks you and says he could use your help on another matter

Embers blinked once, then again. This was real. It had taken her a long time to accept the reality that had been forced upon her, and for days, she did nothing but sleep to not snap. Of course, eventually, she ran into a player that made things very clear. This was how things were, and she was being useless to help! Angry, she shoved them into a wall, told them to go screw themselves, and stormed away. And the worst part? He was right. She wasn't helping anyone, not even herself. With that knowledge, she sighed. She punched a wall hard, multiple times, of course, that served many purposes. The first made her look insane, but the second. It ignited her blood. She never really understood it, not did she care too. Once she got going, she was an unstoppable force of flames.

She marched forwards on the war path, and after a quick flip through her inventory, she knew where she was going. Some old person called Zackariah, while she doubted it would be enough to justify the fire within her soul, it was a start. She would become strong and crush this game, with a smirk on her face.

It took her a short walk, and she eventually found the house she was looking for. She opened the door, and was indeed met by some old man. No, not a man, an NPC. She had to get her head around that. It was a basic game mechanic. Still, she raised her hand in front of her face and it looked so real, yet, it wasn't. Urgh this game got to her! Still, it was just something she'd take in stride.

"Oi, Zack-Boy, this where i start the quest?"

The old man looked over at her, despite her rough tone and simply nodded. The quest journal popped up in front of her, and she grinned a hungry grin. This is it, the start of her adventure. She cracked her neck from side to side and, with a grin, she spun around on the heel of her boots and headed for the door.

Watch out world, I'm coming for you.

Exiting the old mans store, she checked what was needed of her. She needed to collect 5 Tier 1 Materials from just outside the town eh? Didn't sound too hard, but, this was a basic level quest. It wasn't meant to be hard, but something that players, just like her, would get into the swing of this game. Did it annoy her, yes, the game was condescending her in a way, even if she was a level 1 player. She took a deep breath to try and calm the fire that was starting to gather embers within her. It was too soon to lose herself like that, and besides, if all went according to plan, she wouldn't even need to draw her battle axe from her back. It was a simply gather quest. With that in mind, she began to walk to the out skirts of the town. She did pause, for a moment, she'd gone out plenty of times, and this, was like any other. She closed her eyes and smiled, this world was not prepared for the fire the burnt within her soul. Not by a long shot!

The girl strode out onto the field just outside the town, and sighed. She wondered how long it would take, she didn't wanna waste time where she didn't have to. She needed to level up, get her equipment and get moving. This game wouldn't wait for her to power up, she had to grab her power and burn through the world itself. Nothing would stop her, nothing ever had before in the real world, and nothing in this world neither.

With that fire keeping her soul warm, she began to hunt for materials. However, she wasn't entirely sure what it was she was looking for and struggled to get what she needed. She picked up what she thought was the right item, only to sigh as it was not the case, and threw it back onto the ground. She hated to admit it, but this was far from something that she could fight or cleave her way through, and it frustrated her. She'd always been good with her fists, all this gathering, crap, just wasn't her style. Still, she persevered. Because one day, this would be behind her, and she'd burn. Oh yes. She grinned. She'd burn brighter than anyone before her, and cut down all who stood in her path.

Embers let out a sigh as she walked around, poking her head around trees and at shrubs. It was boring, and even the fire within her heart, that had kindled her to start this quest, had started to burn itself out. Part of her wished she could pull out her battle-axe or punch her way to get what she wanted. It worked often enough before, but that was in the real world where she knew the rules of reality. This one was different, and she knew that, as much as she may have  missed the real world, this world controlled her. With a sigh of defeat, she restarted her hunt.

And this time, it yielded results as she manged to grab what she needed, which was a handful of herbs. Stuffing them into her inventory, she smiled. Finally, things were coming around her way! About damn time too, or else the world had better watch the hell out. After all, even if the game slowed her down, it wouldn't stop her. She was getting out of this game, and anything in her path would get get down!

After her first successful find, the girl had expected to blitz through everything else and get all the materials. Of course, this was not to be as she searched, and searched, to no avail. She let out an angry sigh, but didn't lash out despite so much of her body begging her to do so. It was her most common reaction normally, punch or hit or yell. But this stupid game wouldn't let her use her might for nothing. Instead, she had to bow to its will, which she would....for now.

"Urgh, this sucks" she declared to, well, no one. There was no one around to hear her anger at least, which was both a blessing and a curse. A curse because she'd rather have someone to vent at, and a blessing because if there was, they didn't deserve to be lit up. But, it was neither here nor there, as the girl rested herself against a tree trunk. She drew out her battle axe and looked at it. Despite the fact it looked impressive, even she knew she needed an upgrade. But where, and by whom? She would have to figure that out, eventually.

The red-haired girl continued to rest up against the tree. She wondered what the real world had done to her body, was it still at home, or hospital? She smiled softly, wherever it was, it was being cared for. Could they see her, her friends, her mother? Could they see what is occurring within the game itself, or where they must as blind to the inside as she was to the outside? It was impossible to know, and she didn't like that lack of knowledge. She hoped they couldn't see her, just know she lived and would get out. That's all they needed to know, the rest, she could handle on her own.

She placed her weapon back onto her back, and dragged herself to her feet. It was time to get moving, she'd spent long enough sitting down. She rechecked the place she'd found her first mateiral, but no such luck. Maybe it hadn't respawned back yet, did things like that respawn? She wasn't sure, but that was nothing new in this game. She would learn all its rules, soon...As she got stronger.

Sword Art Online, the games base mechanics weren't too hard to comprehend. Of course, it didn't mean she had to like it. She'd always been like this with games, she got frustrated early on due to the simple fact that it crippled her ability to her, well herself. She wasn't weak, she was a force of nature that everything should move out the way off, or get burnt down if they resist. To know that she, a force of nature, was crippled by a damnable level based system. She punched the ground out of anger, and again, and again.

Calming herself down, she quickly spotted some more of those herb looking things, grabbing them and adding them into her inventory. 2 down, 3 to go. Of course, she'd been out in the fields for what felt like hours, while it was sub 10 minutes. She let out a sigh as she grabbed her Battle-Axe, and made several practice swings with it. It was a weapon she'd need to master, and while she didn't get any exp doing it now, she felt nice to be familar with the weapon.

It didn't take the girl too long to grow tired of practice swings of her weapon, there was nothing like actually taking shots at the enemy. But, her level simply made it too risky. Being only level 1, she had to play the game with an air of caution around her. Disregarding that could prove lethal to her and, well, if she died, her flame goes otu forever. And that was not allowed. She threw her axe back onto her back as she once again hunted throughout the fields. Had the girl cared for pleasing views, maybe she could enjoy this one. But she couldn't. It just wasn't in her nature, this calmness of nature never settled her, but rather frustrated.

Of course, she managed to find some more herbs as she walked around, so it wasn't all bad. She was over half-way done with this part of her quest, hopefully she'd finish soon so she could get some levels and get going.

Embers had to admit, the detail put into Sword Art Online was impressive. She'd used the word excessive, except that since this game was one-of-a-kind deal, well, it made sense to go all out. The birds, the grass, all of it had an insane amount of detail put into them to the point where there were moments she could have thought she was back in the real world, although that illusion died when she spotted her HP bar and was reminded of the fact she was stuck here. Within this game with no end in sight. Although, being trapped in this game did allow her to be a violent as she wanted without consequence, to a point. Part of her was curious if the death rule was real, but assuming it was, there was no going back and she'd rather not make a mistake like that.

She hadn't managed to find any of those herb-like-things again, but with over half, surely it wouldnt' take her much longer to gather what she needed and get going. It was her hope, because she was losing losing her damn mind doing this searching.

"URGH THIS SUCKS!" The girl yelled at no one. In the field, she was alone and so, she could yell and complain all she wanted and NOT have to stare at someone until they backed away from her. She huffed as she continued to walk around, hunting for the herb-looking things. Why couldn't there be some combat based early quest, something that suited her! Instead, she was forced to turn into some sorta duck and hunt for food!

Of course, just as she thought about it, she found what she was looking for. She grabbed it and stuffed it into her inventory. 4/5th of the ways done. Soon she could leave, craft some potions then be done with this all! She couldn't wait, she'd get those levels and start fighting. Once she did that, she'd be golden. She just hated how weak she was, she would get better, but the grind frustrated her immensely.

  • 2 weeks later...

With most of the materials being found, it had put the girl in a bit of a better mood. She was mostly done with this stupid quest. Or at least, she thought that she was. She knew she had to craft some potions, but was unaware that she had to be a delivery girl afterwards. Had she known, her spirit would have dampened with the knowledge. But ignorance is bliss in its own way, for her good mood seemed to reap benefits as it hadn't taken long to find the last piece for the potions she'd have to make. Snatching it up, she grinned with victory.

Finally, she had what she needed! With a smirk, she began strolling back into the town towards the house of that NPC, Zackariah. It was time for her to get through this, construct them potions, then get on her way to make this game bend to her will. To burn her way through this game!

Finally! She'd been successful in gathering all the materials she needed in order to get the first half of this damn quest under way. 5 Materials had taken her longer than she had expected, but it had been done so, there was that. She wondered if all the quests would be like this, and hoped against it. Would be an extremely boring start if that was the case. She opened her inventory twice to check they were in there, before slowly heading her way back. The open fields made it hard to get lost, and even from here, she could see the town. It looked peaceful, too much so.

She wondered what it would look like being burnt to the ground, before she pushed that image out of her head. She needed to survive, otherwise she would have loved to play the villian in this game. Oh how she would have made a great villian. But t'was not the case....for now.

It didn't take the girl long to find the store, and she basically kicked open the door like she had done when she had walked into the first time. The NPC looked over at her, greeted her and lead her to the work bench. She listened carefully as he explained how you make a potion, and had to repeat it several times for the girl. Mostly because it didn't make sense, herbs and bleh! She let out a sigh, this just wasn't her style. Potions were important, of that she could fully agree. They'd help in combat if you ever got low, keep you alive when you're screwed. However, the issue was simply. It was complicated.

Ember went for it and gave it a go, but she was certain she was going to mess it up. However, somehow, despite being certain she'd screwed it up several times, not only had she been successful in making a potion, but according to the NPC, it was of a good quality. She grinned. Maybe this game was easier than she had thought, if she had pumped out a perfect Potion just like that.

After being successful in constructing a perfect potion, the gir had expected her quest to be finished and headed for the door. So when the old man asked her to wait, as well as noticing a LACK of leveling up, she did indeed pause.

"I'm afraid your quest isn't quite over young lady" the NPC said as he held, something out to her. She picked up the bad, placing it within her inventory as the NPC began talking again "I was wondering if you'd be able to do me a favour. There is a blacksmith nearby, a friend of mine called Lyle Tealeaf. Would you be able to drop these off to him?" He asked. Ordinarily, the girl would simply reject the request. But this was part of her quest, and knew she had to do it. She nodded her head silently and took a step forwards the door, only to be once again stopped.

"Oh, one last thing" said Zachirah "Within that pouch are some potions for you once you drop the rest off with my friend. Consider them a reward for helping me" he said, a smile on his face. Embers smirked, he may be an NPC, simple programming, but he seemed so real. Too real for her personal comfort.

Once the door was closed, the girl absolutely lost it. She laughed so hard she found it impossible to stand and was reduced to a mess leaning against a wooden door on the 1st floor. After nearly 5 minutes of laughter, the girl dragged herself up to her feet.

Lyle Tealeaf?! What a stupid name! Her laughter never truly died as she snickered, covering my mouth, but it didn't last long and it took her mere moments before she was back on the ground laughing. Her hair kept getting into her face, and every time she brushed it out the way, it would find its way back there. Of course, this remained the entire time she was laughing. Eventually, she managed to stop and bring herself to her feet once again. She sucked in the air she needed into her lungs, stood up and rolled her shoulders. Oh gods she was mant to find someone called Lyle TEALEAF and treat it, even if he was an NPC, seriously? She finally brought her breathing back under control and brushed her hair behind her shoulders. Ok, time to start the hunt.

The girl nearly lost it again as she started walking. What idiot gave the blacksmith that name? The fact the NPC that had said the name so calmly is what had broken her more than the name itself. What devellopper had the ingenuis idea of giving a NPC that name? Oh she'd mock them endlessly had she not been trapped in this stupid death game. But twas not the case, and she had no idea where she was. She was still new to exploring the game, and the quest map was one step beyond her as she started walking aimlessly, throughout the Town of Beginners. She had no idea where she was going.

After many minutes of walking around to no success, the girl snapped and punched a wall. Thankfully, she didn't injure herself due to the lack of 'pain' in the game, a fact she was both thankful and spitful about. Part of a fight was the pain, the rush you get from being injured and the thrill of hurting them even worse. Lacking it made fights easier, but less enjoyable than she used to. Of course, she had felt some pain from time to time. Maybe it was her mind? Who knew. All she knew was that she was hopelessly lost!

Well, it was official. She was lost. Embers looked up at the buildings above her head, and they looked the same as the ones she'd just walked away from. She spun on the heel of her shoe, and double-backed. Yup, it looked the same. What the hell! She was utterly lost. Why was the town of beginners created by some Map Sadist!? It was the only option, it had to be! She let out a frustrated sigh as she opened up her inventory, maybe she had missed something? Part of her wish she had, if only so this insane torture would just end!

It took the girl many moments, but she found it. A quest map. TELLING HER WERE TO GO! The girl swore violently, and punched a wall in anger. How had she missed that? Opening the map, she ow had a direction....The other side of the town. Well, maybe she'd get a better grasp on the mapping of this place. Because she was about one badly conversation from busting out her axe and swinging.

The walk through the town was just as confusing as she remembered it. The town feelings threw her sense of direction off, she much preferred the outback, where her freedom was absolute. The town was so cramped, it felt like she was going to walk over things that she shouldn't. She had already bumped into several players and NPC's in her walk, some demanding an aplogy, to which they were greeted with a glare and a snort. It was clear she had no intention to say sorry, they moved on. Others may feel regret, but Embers didn't. She had a place to be, everyone in her way was merely an obstacle at this point. Like a rock on a hiking trip, something that must be overcome. Her nature meant she cared little for those who didn't directly affect her. In the past, people had called her ignorant and even stupid for not caring. Each time they called her it, she shrugged and continued with her life.

Finally, after many minutes of walking, the girl found what she was looking for. The blacksmith, home of Tealeaf. The girl had to not laugh upon hearing that name. Divines above it was a stupid name for anyone.

The Battle Axe weilder walked up to the blacksmithy, and let out a sigh. So it had been here all along? So much pain and suffering for such a boring place. She hoped the higher floors were less stupidly designed. Or else she may have to cut her way through the production team of whoever MADE this damn game. She knocked on the door heavily, and waited. And waited. And waited. After barely a minute, she had been about to kick the door open when an individual spoke up to her left.

"Hello, are you looking for me?"

Turning, Embers spotted an NPC man standing just to the side. He was wearing clothes that made him look like a blacksmith...And he had a hammer in his hand. Well, this had to be the stupidly named Tealeaf. Embers had to put Effort into not snicker at him. It wasn't his fault he had a stupid name...mostly.

"Just finished up with Zachriah, had to deliever these to you" She said bluntly, opening her inventory and passing on the items she'd been given. The NPC accepts them and gives her a nod of apprication.

"Cheers adventurer. You know, if you're interested, you could help around here. I'll be sure to reward you"

"I'll think about it" She replied without thought as the quest completion screen came up. Finally! Now she had some fight in her!
