[PP - F11] Fateful Encounter [Telrenya, Jomei, Spencer]

Recommended Posts

Ruby had sat out by a lake doing her typical fishing antics on Floor 8, she didn't really have much to honesty do today she sat there, simply just... bored. She hasn't heard anything from Jomei, Telrenya, or even Spencer today, even though Spencer was never on her friends list to begin with at the moment it was simply something that she had forgotten. At this point in time, she had looked back out into the lake hoping that something would happen to distract her hopefully making her forget what she was stressing over... but of course not. She had sighed, it was at times like these where she just wondered where the three are at the given moment... "Man... I bet they're having fun without me. This is almost kind of unfair... I am a part of the guild, why can't I be a part of things..." she had said out.

Then a voice from behind her spouted out:

"I can help you with that." the man had said as he had stepped towards the female drawing a blade. Eventually he had moved towards her cornering the woman from running... it was simple she could either try to run and fail or drown. Either way, he didn't care what the result was. The man had looked down upon her and placed his sword into the ground he looked at her through the mask and said "Look, this can either go a few ways..." he took a deep breath before talking out once more "You either die by my hands, drown in that lake, or you will take me to Jomei. I know you know him, he's your guild leader." he chuckled for a moment before spouting out once more "Look, I don't want to kill you. My cursor may be green, but I've killed a man. You have my word that I wont kill you if you bring me to him, I am not going to kill him either... well... that's if he doesn't tell me what I want to know." he stood up and pulled the sword out of the ground and looked down upon the sad pathetic woman "Which are you going to do?"

"Alright"

The ginger haired man took his rapier out of its scabbard on his hip before flipping it in his hands. With the blade now facing downwards, he forcefully stabbed it into the dirt. He looked over at Telrenya and Spencer as they stood apart from Jomei with their weapons drawn. The man smirked, reaching up and throwing his cloak to the side with his sword, leaving him in just his sleeveless town clothes. "Alright, make sure the two are you are in a party. I think you guys should try and get some practice in." He took a single step towards the two, "We will set up a duel, you two against me. I won't use my sword, or even try to attack you. But I want you to hit me." he looked at the two, who seemed confused, concerned even. He chuckled, "Even if you have the highest damage in the game.. you're only wasting your energy and doing no damage at all if you can't hit them." Not only did he want to stress to his two guild mates in front of him of the importance of being able to actually hit their target, but he also wanted to make sure he could still dodge efficiently without the help of Erin's Favor. He eyed the trinket on Telrenya's wrist, feeling as though her wearing that right now would be his downfall in this duel. "Tel, I hope you use that charm of yours for good use.." Jomei swiped his hand upwards, initiating a single hit duel with his two friends.  "1st hit wins. Good luck." Jomei said with a wink, raising his hands up in front of him, palms slightly open. A blue ring surrounded the three players, signaling where the duel would take place. Above their heads, digital numbers counted down from ten.

Telrenya blinked. She held Radiant Dawn laxly in her right hand, standing beside Spencer, the most recent person added to her friend list, while the two stared at Jomei as he gave then instruction to attack him. The woman gave an uncertain sideways glance towards the sandy-haired mace-wielder before frowning slightly. She didn't feel comfortable trying to attack the man, practice or no. Still, the look of concern on her face wasn't going to stop the duel timer that hovered above them from counting down, and so she left out a tiny sigh and raised her rapier in front of her.

When the countdown reached zero, she decided to make the first move. The woman dashed forward, leaning into the attack as she thrust her weapon forward. While it stabbed through the air where Jomei had once been, she quickly pulled back and eyed the man's movements. Despite several attempts to strike the ginger's body, none were successful. Concern shifting to frustration, the woman disengaged with a tiny scowl. 'That was embarrassing...' She kept the thought to herself.

Spencer was more than slightly surprised that he was being brought into this duel with Telrenya and Jomei. He recently only met them, but he was already really starting to like these too, he also liked Ruby, but she was a little intimidating so he decided to take his time to talk to her. He didn't like the idea of attacking Jomei, and the look on Telrenya's face confirmed that she also didn't want to do this as well. Welp, he won't die, it is just a duel after all.. His thoughts trailed off and he gripped his mace, getting into an attack stance and getting ready to attack this man.

Telrenya attacked first and she missed, but he didn't say anything, everyone can miss from time to time. "That was really good." He mumbled quietly, the way she attacked was actually quite graceful and nice. He shrugged, knowing he won't do that much better. He twirled his mace in his hand and charged forward, swinging it quickly, just barely missing Jomei's arm. He groaned slightly and attacked again, but Jomei would not be hit. He backed away with a bright blush on his face.

Ruby had looked over and looked at the man with eyes scared of it "N-no" she had said as she had tried to crawl away from the man until she had met towards the lake... she knew there wasn't much she could do at the moment... hopefully this man would come in piece. While the man had been talking she had noticed that this man must be the man that had signed to her last night. Ruby had looked down, she knew that she really didn't have an option... really, she was hoping that what she says next is the best route to take this... maybe even Jomei can deal with this without any casualties. She had tried to keep her tears inside of her as she had spoke out "I'll do whatever you want... just please... don't kill me... what do you want me to do?" she had then tried to reason with the man, she just want nothing extremely horrible to come from this... she can only hope for the best at this point.

The man had chuckled, he looked down upon Ruby as he put his sword back into his sheath "Good girl. I promise it'll be over as soon as it can." he had moved down and grabbed the woman by the arms and held them behind her back, he had held her arms together with one hand and reached out to a teleport crystal and teleported to floor 11. "The plan is simple, all you have to do is bring him to me, send him a message. I don't care what you say to him, make it sappy enough to have him running." he had said escorting her towards the place where he was going to keep her captive "And just because I like to have a little fun, I am going to tie you around a tree. Gotta give him a reason to talk. Its all business, I promise there Ruby." he had said out with a chuckle. After a few moments they had finally got to the meet up point and he threw Ruby onto the ground "Now now, be the good girl that you are and send him that message." he said as he opened his inventory gaining rope from it.

The first to run at Jomei was the blonde girl he cared for. He smirked, hoping that she did not think that he would make this training any easier on her because of how she felt. Immediately, she stabbed her blade forward to Jomei, to which he easily stepped to the side. He watched then as Tel pulled her sword back and continued to try to hit Jomei, even just scratch him. However, the man was able to dodge every one of her attacks, however, it was not simple. He could tell that Erin's Favor was boosting her accuracy, because on any other monster without the evasive speed Jomei had would have been pierced by her sword.

Next up to bat was Spencer, who flared his mace in his hand before going for the power route, rather than Telrenya's speedy barrage. Not expecting the strong hit, Jomei was barely able to dodge the mace as it came flying past him, almost hitting his arm. He then threw another powerful strike going horizontally towards Jomei's chest, however Jomei lowered his body by bending his knees, the mace swinging right over his head.

Jomei stood back up, breathing a little bit heavier than before. "Alright.. that was.. unexpectedly tough for me." he chuckled, before extending his arms out to the side, "but you still didn't get me."

Telrenya exhaled steadily, watching careful as Spencer displayed a very different fighting style with his heavy mace. Their new guildmate had gotten much closer to striking the elusive Irishman than she had, and Telrenya tightened her grip on the hilt of her rapier in response. She tried to think about what she could do differently--how her first strikes had missed their mark and how she needed to change her approach to land a strike on the man.

Telrenya already knew she wasn't great at changing her tactics on the fly. Strategy she could handle, but putting a plan into action was a different story. Rushing back into the fray after Jomei's taunting stance, she tried to feint the same attack as her initial barrage in order to strike where she expected him to dodge. Her movements were obvious however, and it was clear that she was not familiar with using such attacks. Their target would have easily continued to dodge her predictable moves, causing her woman to let up in defeat as she put a short distance between them again.

Spencer watched as Tel took a different approach, trying to anticipate his movements to attack him well. That could work, but I don't know Jomei well enough to start trying to read what he is doing. He thought to himself and gripped his mace. He watched the girl let out a few attacks, the taunting Jomei was still able to dodge all of her attacks, but seemed to be getting slightly exhausted from it. Maybe if I throw it at him? That worked on one of my quests, so maybe it could work here too... His thoughts trailed off as he tried to plan the attack accordingly.

Telrenya jumped back and then it was his chance to attack. He spun, making it seem like it was going to be a sweeping attack, but he let his mace fly out of his hands and directly at Jomei. Unfortunately for him, Jomei was like a cat, his reflexes were very sharp. The man ricocheted his mace mid-air and Spencer caught it, going for a swing at his legs immediately after catching the mace. The man was still unable to be hit, so he ran back to his spot. He was only level 5, so he wasn't letting it get to him, but he was getting slightly annoyed at the ability Jomei had.

Ruby had been escorted to the place in which this creep had gave her what his entire plan was, Ruby had wanted to shake her head or resist however she knew that it was pointless fighting, she wasn't strong enough from his grip... she knew she wasn't faster than this man... however she had looked to the masked man as he had said her name "W-wait... how do you my name? How do you know where I was? And are you with those Cultists?" she demanded, she wanted answers. Eventually she was thrown onto the ground, and she had looked around... there was no real place for escape, just places that lead into more trees, no where to really go... she had looked up to the man and said "Okay okay... im sending the message now." she had opened her hud and with eyes full of tears she had tried to send out a message to Jomei:

Quote

To: @Jomei
Jomei... this is no joke, I am captured by... well I don't know who he is. All I know is I spotted him in a Cultist after Darkness Blade... he said he had Business to talk to you about...

Please come... I don't want to die...

Coordinates Attached, please come as fast you can...

She had sent the message and looked to the man "I sent the message..."

The man behind the mask had smiled, Ruby had following what he was telling her... she is quite the pathetic woman, crying and barely able to do anything. It felt powerful to be above her, however while the same its also a curse he holds. The man had moved down to her arms and guided her to the tree and tied her arms on the branch and tied her legs together, all she could do is struggle... however he needs a way to make the man talk. The man had spoke out waiting for the man to arrive "You are quite the less aware woman I have ever met. You'd never survive out in the Frontlines, you should give up where you are girlie. If you must know when you past out when we kidnapped you, for precautions I made you accept a friend request from me. You can keep me as a friend after this is said and done, I need someone to push around anyways. I have tracking so keeping me on your friends list is basically asking for it." he laughed out, looking forward, there was only one path to get here, he waited... it was only a manner of time before the man shows up. And if not... he'll assume he doesn't care for his guild, and he'll kill the woman.

Jomei looked over at Telrenya and Spencer, both of them had annoyed looks on their faces. "Good, good." he said quietly to himself. Either they were going to slip up and continue missing, or this fight was about to get a lot more interesting. Tel had switched with Spencer after his last attack and she rushed forward, to Jomei, it seemed as though she was moving much faster than before. The first strike was easy to dodge, however, her following strikes were much more precise. It was almost as if Telrenya was able to predict where Jomei was going to dodge, "Looks like... Erin's Favor.. is starting.. to work." Jomei said between sharp breaths, just barely able to escape the sharp point of Telrenya's rapier.

With the blonde woman's attack finished, she separated herself from Jomei to give room to Spencer to attack. Jomei felt beads of sweat forming on his head and neck, the two were giving him quite the work out. Spencer approached next, taking a powerful step and pulling his mace back. Jomei braced himself, preparing to sidestep the strike, but the man took him by surprise and threw his mace instead. Jomei's eyes went wide for a moment, ducking just under the mace. The weapon ricocheted back to the sandy haired boy, who caught the blunt weapon and swung at Jomei's legs. Barely being able to dodge the quick succession of strikes, Jomei span his body at his hips as to propel his other leg into the air, performing a butterfly kick just over the mace. He landed with one knee and his palms on the ground, taking heavy breaths. "You guys.. are getting really good.."

"Alright, lets see if you can- hm?" Jomei's introduction to the next phase of their duel was interrupted by a message appearing in front of his face. The small distraction left him open to a strike from the other two players, grimacing and stumbling backwards as the attack landed. Next to the usual letter icon that appeared, there was a small red exclamation point, meaning that the sender marked it as an urgent message. He brought his freehand up to tap on the icon, and saw it was from Ruby. As he began to read the message, a knot formed in his stomach and his eyes went wider than ever. He quickly set the coordinates sent to him by Ruby and sprinted over to his cloak and rapier. "We need to go. Now." he said in a stern voice. "Ruby is in a lot of trouble."

Following the marker left by imputing the blonde woman's coordinates, Jomei ran off as fast as he could. He knew that his speed was greater than Tel and Spencer's, so they would slightly fall behind him, but Jomei needed to get to Ruby's position as soon as possible. As he continued down the path, he saw two figures come into view; One was Ruby, tied to a tree, fear accompanying the tears welling up in her eyes, the other, a masked man.. wearing a uniform that looked all too familiar to him. Jomei skid to a stop, staring at the masked man for a moment before shaking his head. "What the [censored] do you want. Let. Ruby. Go." Jomei ripped his rapier from the scabbard on his hip and pointed it towards the masked man. "I've killed one of you before.. I'll don't care if I go orange.. You hurt Ruby and I'll strike you down." His voice was angry, angrier than he had ever sounded as his words came out like a growl.

Rotating between the two players allowed Telrenya to catch her breath in between each assault. The sandy-haired man's unconventional attacks forced Jomei to push himself harder so as not to be hit. His landing was messy, and Telrenya spotted the perfect opportunity as a result. She ran towards him again, circling around after Jomei dodged the mace's sweep. With the man half-kneeling, Telrenya pulled her arm back as she prepared to bring her blade down.

She winced at the sight of her rapier stabbing through Jomei's back, the tip of the weapon extending through his chest and hovering above the ground. But his avatar wasn't the only thing surrounding the metal. Telrenya blinked as she spotted the corner of a system window, and a mixture of emotions flowed through her as she withdrew her weapon: the thrill from 'winning' their mock duel, the discomfort from her first experience with PvP, and the confusion brought about from message now hovering in front of Jomei. The woman circled around, slowly sheathing her rapier at her hip while mild concern touched her look and voice. "Is everything o--" One look at Jomei's grave expression silenced her, and the next words to leave him caused her brow to furrow.

'How could Ruby be in--' A feeling of stupidity stopped the thought in its tracks as her own eyes widened in sudden understanding. Jomei was already hastily grabbing his equipment when the blonde looked over to Spencer. She stared at the more novice player a moment, first questioning his safety before deciding there was no time to waste with more words.

Telrenya sped after Jomei, ignoring the fatigue that Cardinal imposed on her by the time Jomei had come to a stop in the distance. She recognized Ruby's form past him, and a cloaked figure standing between them. She felt a surge of anger at the situation before them, and as she slowed to a stop behind Jomei the woman pulled her own rapier from its scabbard, holding Radiant Dawn with a similar malice to the anger that emanated from the ginger beside her.

Spencer took his time catching his breath, watching Telrenya circle around Jomei, but it seemed he was slightly distracted by something on his HUD screen. Spencer cocked his head in confusion, and then being startled as Jomei  jumped up, and started to run towards an unknown destination. Don't tell me running into unsafe situations is a habit with these people, I'm too low of a level for this kind of stuff. He sighed and made eye contact with Telrenya before she also ran off to follow Jomei. "I'd not like to be left behind." He mumbled, starting to run after the two players.

Jomei and Telrenya finally started to slow down, which let Spencer gasp for breath, but only for a moment. He looked up from being bent over and panting to see Ruby and some man that he hadn't seen before, but Ruby was tied up and that caused him to stand up and pull his mace out. He might be only level 5, but he would help if he needed to, but he was praying it would not come to that. What if we have to fight him, no telling what level he could be, and what the hell is going on. He was scarred, pissed, and overall just confused by the whole thing.

Ruby had gotten scared, she never really had thought about checking her friends list after passing out... it had almost seemed that he was right... what if it was better to just give up now? Is she really worth being a part of them? Was she just... there? Eventually Jomei, Telrenya, and Spencer had arrived to the scene... looks like she was right, they were doing something together without her, she looked down she didn't want to see them, she didn't want to see anything. She knew them drawing swords would be pointless, she knew fighting would get no where, theres not where to run... and only people to be found at this point. She had began to cry, she didn't want anything bad to happen from any of this, the last thing she wanted was for a fight to break out, the last thing she wanted was for violence to be the answer to anything... she just wishes that something like this would not happen, not even if this is for the better of anything.

The man had chuckled out, not only did the man arrive upon the scene but he had brought two others... and my my were they so quick to violence. He had let out one last chuckle before saying out to the man "Jomei... Jomei... Jomei, Is this how you great an old friend? So quick to violence you all are, maybe... I should up the ante a little bit." she moved his hand and snapped his fingers. Out of the shadows steps out four hooded figures two from each side and they swiftly and quietly grabbed onto Spencers and Telrenyas arms restraining them from doing anything forcing their weapons to fall to the ground. The man had chuckled "Now now... nothing bad will happen to them if you answer everything that I tell you. Don't answer my questions, and bad things will happen. This isn't a deal, this is a threat Jomei. You will obey, or you will lose everything you hold dear to you." he chuckled out. He had looked behind him as Ruby had started to cry, she didn't say anything, not even being remotely happy in seeing them come to her "rescue" the man looked back to the man "Don't try to fight, you'll only die. I've grown much stronger than you before the last time we met. I might even be surprised if your pathetic owl survived that." he chuckled one last time.

Telrenya and Spencer arrived on the scene moments after Jomei, both of them drawing their weapons, ready to fight alongside Jomei. "If it comes to it, this is my fight. I will not let either of you get involved..." Jomei mumbled the command under his breath, enough for the two players aside him to hear. He knew what this man and his group were capable of, let alone some of them killing others. The man remained calm with Jomei's blackened rapier pointing directly towards his throat, the ginger ready to thrust it forward at a moment's notice. However, he had a trick up his sleeve, one that Jomei should have expected would happen. With a snap of his fingers, another four men revealed themselves from the shadows of the trees, grabbing both Telrenya and Spencer. Jomei began to seethe with rage, but he kept it contained. The masked cultist threatened Jomei, as long as he answered any questions he had, the other three would remain unharmed. Jomei did not lower his rapier, and kept it at the ready. He wondered if he would be able to take them all on by himself, freeing the other three at the same time. Last time he saw them, they were lower leveled than him, but they had numbers. Jomei had increased in strength, but apparently, so had they. He closed his eyes for a moment, he knew if he turned around and saw their filthy hands on Telrenya, he would snap and get them all killed. "Speak quickly, before I lose my patience and change my mind to keep you all alive..." Jomei would give the man a moment to speak and not attack, however, his mind thought of as many plans as he could in case he hurt any of the others.

Telrenya hid her confusion, the feeling instead overcome by frustration and worry. 'She's been through enough, why now--' The woman hadn't finished her thought before she felt a firm pressure on her arm. A dark gloved hand grabbed onto her wrist, squeezing until the tight grip on her rapier loosened. She let out a small grunt of discomfort as the figure's other hand took hold of her left arm, holding the woman firmly in place. She struggled against the man's sudden grasp, gritting her teeth at the turn of events before she saw the same scene play out with the lower-leveled Spencer. If their eyes were to meet, Telrenya would have shot the man an apologetic look before her attention turned back to the front-and-center masked man that taunted Jomei. Her brow furrowed again, glaring daggers at the man that had orchestrated the trap.

She wanted to tear herself away from the man behind her. She wanted to scream at them all, for these sick, terrible people to leave her friends alone. Clenching her jaw, the woman held her tongue and remained silent. She had become a liability along with Spencer--a bargaining chip for the man to use against Jomei along with. Her fingers curled into fists as her emotions boiled beneath her surface.

Spencer saw Jomei threaten the unknown player with his sword, pointing it right at his throat. Spencer tensed up, but flinched and tried to break away as two men grabbed his arms. "Hey! Let go of me!" He almost snarled at them and thrashed for a bit, but realized that he couldn't break free from their grasp. What the hell is going on and who are these people! It seems like they know who these people are, must be really bad people with how Jomei is acting... How did Ruby get dragged into this. How did we all get dragged into this? He was more than confused, but he was trying to calm himself down, looking at Telrenya with a slightly fearful look on his face.

Spencer's mace was on the ground and he used it to roll it closer to him slowly, looking at the men around them, none of them stopped him, so maybe he could get his mace up and run over to cut Ruby free, hopefully anyways, there is no telling exactly what could happen with random people who kidnapped Ruby, but he was not in the mood for it. He looked down at Telrenya's weapon, it farther from her than his, maybe she could get hers too.
