His parent's marriage was a rare example of a smart social match and actual love. His mother, Mika Yoshina, was a daughter of a senior president at Wu Technologies, and her personal life led her to become a computer engineer. His father, Erik Morrison, was a project manager, and nephew of the founder, at Morrison-Zan Wetworks, a large maritime defense contractor and shipyard. The two of them met when MZW contracted Wu Technologies to help develop some hardware for a new line of products. Their courtship was quick, as both described the head over heels love from the beginning. After an appropriate time, Erik went over to ask for her hand in marriage. Both families agreed that it was a smart match, and the wedding was a success. Since then, the family has lived between Portland, Oregon USA and Fukuoka. Taro attended UCLA on a pre-med track before deciding to become an engineer midway his second year. He graduated and attended Stanford for his graduate schooling, but had to drop from the program when his mother fell ill. Returning to their Japanese home, Taro has taken over the household duties and seeing to his mother's health. Her chronic problems have fallen into recess, allowing her a comfortable life, but with her husband still active in MZW as it's chief planning officer now, Taro had to step in. As such, Taro has a very kind heart, but has deep seated resentment about the circumstances. Sure, he does some work for his father on the side, but for the most part, he has become a glorified nurse. He has nothing but love for his mother, but that bitterness clouds his ability to generate a social life. Of course, one has to look past the stigma of being of mixed ethnicity, even if more accepted these days. Effectively, his only social time is online as he has become an avid gamer. Using his familial's connections, he often gets early access to equipment before it's wider release. As such, he was able to get an early copy of SOA [though not beta testing sadly!] and knew he would fall in love with the game. Virtues: Loyal - Taro is incredibly loyal to those that earn his respect. He has gone above and beyond what was necessary to help people he cares about. That he gave up his own dreams to help care for his mother is an example of this. Honest - Taro does lie, everyone does, but his is a rare time. Often to his detriment, he will stick to telling the truth. It has cost him opportunities in the past, but he could not live with ill gotten gains. Determined - Taro is incredibly motivated when he discovers a passion or new goal. He will often not stop until he has mastered or achieved what he needs to. People have grown to depend on him.Flaws: Bitter - Taro has lived a life that ha failed to meet his expectations. He does not resent his mother or father directly, but carries around a darkness that always threatens to fester in his brain. He perceives people view him as a failure for lack his lack of achievement. Salty - Taro has a high intellect, and he can quickly turn caustic if other's fail to grasp basic concepts. Even then, when there are expectations and they are not met...he can be somewhat abusive at times. He has made consistent efforts to become more positive, but it is still a stigma he is trying to overcome. Blunt - Taro has little in the way of a filter. If he thinks something, he will say it. Part of this is his unrefined social skills, his intellect and such...but ultimately he just comes across as an ass sometimes. Even if he shouldn't.
