The tankling stood upon the second floor, an almost wild look in his eyes that indicated he was tired and weary of everything. He had been working hard for Rorel, by doing many quests and handing over the certain quest rewards. Rorel had met him in a dungeon that they he had been clearing, and so Jon, Rorel and two of his friends cleared the boss. Afterwards, Jonathan had gotten the most rewards as of last hit, but Rorel and his friends urned upon him, defeating him and demanding the items or death. Fearing his life, Jon turned away the items, and exploiting the weakness, Rorel had a tight leash upon him, beckoning him to retrieve many items. He stepped into the pub, the first place of interest on his quest and was immediately exposed to the laughter inside. The light heartedness of the place made him feel a little better, but he was here for business. His eyes flicked over to a man leaning against the wall, dark bags under his eyes from lack of sleep and then stress.

The blond tankling stepped forward. He knew he wasn't the strongest of players to do this quest, but he didn't want to die from Rorel. He also refused to bring a friend like Itzal or Nathan into this mess in fear of them becoming targets. No, he must endure this alone. When he wasn't working for them, he was secretly training and pushing himself to higher limits. Soon, he would be unable to be opposed by Rorel and he could be free. Now, he had to sit in wait. He stopped at the man, and noted the game letting out a click sound as the quest scene began. The man instantly began to speak by saying, "You come for the bill I posted? I am Gatsly. I work as a merchant, making just enough to support me and my family, but lately all of my supply caravans have been destroyed or chased away by a ferocious beast." The tank nodded to the man, showing him the slip he got from the board to be able to accept the quest. "I don't have much, but if you could slay the beast, I would pay you. I have marked the coordinates of where the beast last attacked my caravan, and here... this might help you. The beast is poisonous, drink this in case of being poisoned. It will save you from much trouble I presume"

The tankling took the potion, snapping it to the left side of his belt. Six health potions already laid on the right. He was a lower tier alchemist, and when he came across the materials he was able to make the potions that kept him alive.

Jonathan spoke none as he turned around, exiting the pub. "Well, I know its a wolf, and its poisonous. These details are super specific, now aren't they?" He noticed an NPC middle-aged woman eyeing him, her face changing to one who was startled the instant he gave a stare back. Over the last few weeks, he had perfected a stare in which intimidated most who looked at him. It went well with his ruffled and ravenous features at the moment. He turned away from the woman and stepped out of the city limits. The roads now were going to be rocky, monster infested, and with many dark and bushy trees with mountains in the distance. He checked his items one last time before he would head out. He unsheathed the sword the was strapped to his side and gave it a good few swings before charging himself forward, making a variety of swings. He fell from the heaviness and unbalance of his armor and muttered a colorful word. He was not yet accustomed to heavy armor, and found himself often losing his balance, especially in a fight. He did not make the right movements when it came to the game and so it did not assist him as it should from now and then.

The low leveled tank was in a quiet state as he neared the coordinates to the boss. He was no longer afraid of these solo quests and had proved his own strength multiple times to himself. As a tank, at this point in his career his goal was to just survive. He tanked to be able to take the hits and live to tell the tale. His goals, the frontlines. "I will be a frontliner, and one of the most powerful players. I will be a respected player and join the knights of the blood oath" He said to himself. He told himself his goals to try to ensure himself that he had a set plan, and was going to follow it. A red mark appeared at the top of his vision, his in game threat warner telling him that an enemy was approaching and about to begin assault. He whirled around just in time to duck out of the way from a  leaping wolf. It seemed different in its own aspect, with pointed ears and dark eyes. Another wolf was not to far from the assaulting wolf, and behind that, a blur of colors. The blur, a large wolf, purple liquid dripping from its fangs. "These are my opponents. They are who is not going to leave the expedenture!" He let out a raged yell and prepared for the intense boss battle that would soon ensue. He would decimate these two smaller wolves before taking on the larger wolf that lie in wait behind them.

Five enemies in total. He could make quick work out of each of them. The two wolves in front advanced upon him, one trying to flank him as one took him head on. He stepped back, forcing them both to come at each side. He had no shield, and his balance and swiftness was at a low point. He gritted his teeth. His accuracy was quite high at the moment, so he could at least hit at a rather efficient rate. His mind took over his body, rolling under a leaping wolf. He successfully managed to roll under without losing balance. He stood, a smile creeping onto his face as a moment of self-accompishement was due. It was short lived as the other wolf leaped and he sung his blade forward, making several slashes onto the oncoming wolf's exposed underside. A reassuring  whine accompanied his strikes and the wolf was sent to the side. He laughed in accomplishment. "I guess you should have though about that you ov-" The wolf changed direction, biting into his arm. He was brough down a minor amount in health, but to his glee the wolf shattered itself on his thorns. "Now that is what I am talking about!" One wolf was already dead.

One wolf remained in the way of the boss. He figured this quest would be a tad bit harder, but it had proven to take some time. He looked in the eyes of the wolf. They showed no mercy, no retreating, but it did show that it was aware that its friend died in one round. It was possible, that it would be next in line. His healthbar had hardly taken a dent so far. These wolves were weak, but gave him a sense of accomplishment. A good two weeks ago, and he would have stood no chance to these guys. He had to thank the Red Rosarade for his progression, as thanks to them, he had been given no time for rest and was fighting non-stop. Although, it would have been better if he was doing it with a friend instead of all on his own. The wolf's bark brought him back to attention, and he prepared a sword art as it became closer. It became even closer and he moved into the wolf, catching the beast off guard. A series of slashes were made before his final push finally destroyed it. He laughed  and decided to allow his energy to regen before he pursued the boss. He moved over to his inventory and decided to equip his finding stone, giving him +3 to his searching ability.

He would hopefully find something.

The blond sheathed his sword, but ensured to always know where the boss was. He had to be quick, or the first to wolves would respawn. He crept forward into the brushes, searching for alchemical items. His stone held in his left hand boosted his vision, giving him more clarity to the objects around him. If he were Itzal, than this would be what he would see all of the time. That would be cool to have. He searched the area vigoruously, hoping to find something of worth. It was getting often boring, not having someone to talk to on adventures. He was to be a strong player though, and solo players gained much more experience than what with friends. Becoming closer, he got a good look at the boss. It was much bigger than the rest, and its pelt was a blur of colors. "I wonder if that thing will be more of a challenge..." He turned away, looking for a materiel. Surprisingly he found one, it was lit up like a light in the bush. As soon as he touched it, a smooth blue light passed over it and it was gone.

Taking extreme precautions, he set about in a circle around the boss. Searching for materals was one thing alone, but now to make sure he stayed out of the engagement zone from the boss? Luckily, it seemed pretty relaxed for the time being, but who knew what would happen if it decided to move towards him. He hadn't full energy or all of his battle equipment on him. He decided to stray away from the ideas of what could happen and focus on the task at hand. Finding some more materials. He had been lucky the first time, managing to score a single material. As he worked, his thoughts drifted to Creius and Itzal. His two best friends. He assumed they were all equal in strength now, but he was definitely the weakest of the three. Itzal was always out training with his familiar, Velnia. She was a strange dragon, always managing to find something to be rather mischievous about. He had his own familiar, Sol, but the pheonix was obviously busy taming the skies, or whatever phoenix's did when they weren't with their master. He didn't find any materials.

As his energy had almost completely returned, the tankling began to make small plans of how to take on the boss. He decided it would be best if he took out the two smaller wolves first. This would ensure he was completely focused on the boss. In the end, this meant he was taking several more hits from the boss itself, but also ensured he wouldn't be too distracted. It was a give and take situation. He watched as his energy bar finally hit full from the time out of combat, and opened his inventory. He scrolled past many items before finding his Accuracy pendant. He swapped that for his finding ston, the comfortable weight of the Angel Pendant was collected onto his neck. He stood, his green eyes curious, but weary of the enemy that would stand before him. He moved forward, a red line warning him of enemies at the top of his screen. He was now engaged with his enemies. Venom Snapper growled a thim, its two body guards preparing for an assault.

He lifted his sword, holding it high. Sadly, he held it in a awkward position. He let a triumphant yell, charging straight towards the first wolf. "DIE!" He was at his enemy now, bringing down his blade straight at the wolf. The wolf was surprisingly slow and didn't dodge his attack, his sword art bringing it to a low point of one health. He could leave it for his thorns to take care of now. In his split second recharge time, the wolf retaliated. Without something like  shield in his left hand, there was no way he could possibly defend himself. The wolf struck hard, ripping through some of the exposed skin. He grunted a tingling struck his arm. He  backed away, but not before the second wolf also came in, striking him with a good strong force. "STOP THAT" he shouted at them. Venom Snapper waited until he was ready though, sitting right in front of him, less than 20 feet away. He came in a battle stance, and the wolf stood, intimidating Jonathan by sheer size. It charged forward, he slashed horizonatally, but it leapt over the blade and rammed him into the ground, its teeth gnashing on his body and armor until it was satisfied.

Jonathan picked himself up off the ground and examined his foes closely. One wolf was near death, a large gash in its side from where his sword had tore through its virtual body. If this had been the real world, not only would he be dead, but that wolf be rendered unmoving and then bleed out from its wounds. He focused on the second wolf under the command of Venom Snapper. Had he been a frontliner, he could have attacked with a powerful AoE and been done. The wolf that he had injured stood, a growl ripping through from its maw. If he could strike the second wolf with his sword, it would die. "Alright now" With another breath, he harged forward, beginning the assault. The wolves sprang into action, ocming in a diverse attack order. They were trained killers, that much was expected. He was atop Wolf D now, bringing his sword down. His sword hit the ground, Wolf D retreating from his blade. Wolf C on the other hand, charged him, taking another bite at his exposed skin, resulting in a critical. He grumbled and parried a blow from the Boss. "Why"

Things from the previous round had not turned out the greatest, but young tank would pursue. He was high enough in mitigation for this arduous task. He grumbled to himself, returning to a good countering formation. What he needed was a distraction. He pondered it for a long second before letting out a wild and powerful whistle. Shortly after to his relief, a burning white light appeared, flashing down from the sky. It road near the ground, singing the fibers of grass that lay between it and the ground. It flew right in front of the wolves's faced, distracting them momentarily. He charged forward, His weapon once again aimed at the second of the smaller wolves to kill it, and allow his thorns to kill the other while he focused on Venom Snapper. His blade flashed a dark blue color and he slashed, his weapon arcing down with a  powerful blow. His blade met its mark, severing the wolf into two side before it shattered with a high pitched yelp and whine. He congratulated himself silently before returning his attention. He backed away, managing to not get hit by either of the wolves. With Wolf D gone, Wolf C in extreme danger zone, he could finally focus on the boss, Venom Snapper.

He had not used up too much of his energy yet, which he was thankful for. While traveling alone, energy was always a concern to be having. He snapped back into focus. He had one dangerously low healthed Wolf, and then the almost full health boss who had yet to share any of its secrets so far. It had shown that it was capable of higher damage, but not enough to beat too much through his mitigation and high health. He decided upon a move of attack and ungracefully moved forward, his inadequecy with his heavy armor. He approached Venom Snapper at a well enough speed, reaching it in a good three seconds. "You next wolfie, its time to meet your fate!" he brought down his light elven curved blade. Zodiark gave a defiant blue glow as it descended down upon his target.

The blond's blade swiped through the boss, causing the wolf to yelp in the surprise of pain. It backed away, a long gash in its snout, snarling loudly. In his moment of triumph, the smaller wolf took advantage of his unawareness. It mat the unprotected art of his armor, once again for the third time dealing a critical hit. He grumbled to himself for being foolish again. 'They must have something where they become stronger and smarter after reaching low health'

He was trying to remain aware of the smaller low-healthed wolf this time. It was taking quite some toll on his health, and if it continued for much longer it would actually up amounting something against him. His eyes flicked back up to Venom Snapper, purple liquid dripped slowly off its fangs from in which the poison it seethed originated. He grunted leaping forward and arcing his sword downward at the beast. It sailed through the air, a blue light of defiance against the very meaning of Aincrad. The game registered his sword art, carrying him the rest of the way through. He blade cleanly cut through the multi-colored wolf, red shards flying into the air. He backed away with a confident smile, holding his sword with two hands. The wolf with low health stood away from him, but Venom Snapper raced forward after hm. He made an attempt at a counter strike, but wolf ducked under it and tackled him, biting hard at his neck. If this wasn't SAO, he would have been finished. Just as quickly as the assault began, the wolf was off him, growling. Red Shards flew off from his neck, until he seen a purple one. He knew the thing was poisonous, but he felt as if he did not need the antidote. He would save that.

  • 1 month later...

He stepped away, watching another purple shard fly up. This was the first time he had encountered a status effect. He dropped his gaze to look at his avatar, finding it beaten and brusied, but not tattered. He had lost a decent amount of health, but thanked his armor that he hadn't received anything serious. He looked up to find his enemies standing before him. He would have to quickly defeat them from here, or else he might begin to run out of energy. He gazed them with fiery eyes before he decided to charge forward with a burst of speed. "Die!!!" He yelled as he charged forward, preparing to start with a hrizontal strike form his now blue gleaming blade. His blade cut through the opponent, slicing along its right side. The creature's health was in the red now. Venom Snapper quickly returned the love, biting him with another Poisonous fang. "Gah" he moaned. More poisonous shards. It was good eh didn't use his potion.
