[PP-F11] Gathering we will go.

Recommended Posts

He sighs softly at the logic as he gets back up onto his feet and starts to try and look for the materials also to help with gathering as much as possible. Knowing that for himself he is the most disadvantage in this gathering of materials since he doesn't have any searching skills of his own to aid in the speed of fishing up these things or finding such materials. He glances towards his familiar and just looks himself knowing there is a high likelihood of himself if he tries to let his familiar do so that the materials would be burnt into a crisp rather then used for himself to make potions, and more importantly crystals. He walks over towards one of the nearby bushes figuring he will start by looking for the nature's bounty of the crafting process to have the materials to crush and then boil in water to make the healing, or buffing qualities of his craft.

Don't worry Pinball- I'll have him back if you fish up something too big.  We can't have you letting something out of the water that would knock over all the good gathering grounds. Ben said jokingly.  He had been having no luck in the last shrub he looked in, or the one before that.  He was beginning to think that this area just wasn't that good for searching... or he was just having another run of terrible luck.  It could be either one with the way things went for him some days.  He decided to start looping around the lake a bit more, covering more ground that way.  He did stop to take a look at Mars' familiar doing some, well, help I guess?  At least it probably wouldn't set the place on fire if Mars kept control of it.  Then again, maybe that would spook some extra fish out from hiding.

Pinball, again, watched the other two go about their tasks before turning back to his own job. Benjamin had reassured him, and Mars finally seemed to start looking for stuff. The sparks set off by his familiar brought Pinball's attention back to the jar hanging from his waist. He hadn't introduced Mars, nor his familiar to Zomekko. He wondered for a moment how the ghostly cat would react to the fiery liger and the rather blunt man. The jar looked to be filled with a shadowy mist that swirled, and occasionally spilt off the top of the glass. He knew it wouldn't have any effect on Zomekko's form. She hated sunlight, he knew, so fishing probably wasn't up her alley. He sighed, then wound up his fishing rod once more. Once the hook sank, Pinball let out a bit of a yawn, itching his neck out of habit. As he wondered whether or not cracking his knuckles would produce an in-game sound, Pinball's line grew taut. He reeled in his catch; two Tier-two materials. "That's one more," he called out to the others.

he looks around and sees the other two manage to fish up more materials all around them as he just glances around and taps his cheek and nods his head. Knowing that by himself that finding materials at this rate would be a rather useless endeavor, and that it would be more beneficial to bring forth a monster to fight off for himself to have to kill. He rummages through his inventory and takes out a small crystal and then crushes it. Within seconds a distant roar is heard as he turns to see the source. He watches as the shape of a creature slowly makes itself known as a ant looking two legged thing emerges with sharp pointed bits at the end of its hands. he glances back towards his allies and gives a simple thumbs up. Just continue searching for things this will be my fight to try and help out with getting things that we can use. he says in a calm tone of voice as he glances back and powers up his attack. He quickly charges towards the ant warrior and side steps its attack with a smug look and then punches it into the ground almost one shotting the creature before standing back up. One hit, almost one kill. I love improvement. He says with a chuckle.

Benjamin continued to go about his searching, trying to grab a few more materials while his friends were dealing with their searches.  Mars was off finding something to fight rather than search- probably because his skills weren't particularly specced for that.  He remembered trying to gather before he got any of the skills for it, and it was really slow going.  Ben scrounged around in another bush, grabbing a few more lucky finds as he looked.  He had gotten enough to last him more than a day of full crafting so far, which was a really good start.

Mars seemed to be doing fine on his own, so Ben didn't have to go help out there.  Plus he couldn't do nearly as much damage, and would probably just be in the way.  Pinball so far had just fished up a few materials.  You doing OK out there Pinball?  Catch anything big yet?

Pinball idly watched Mars start his battle with an Ant Warrior. He shook his head, turning back to face the water. "No," he replied, "nothin' yet." He cast his line, and was surprised to be met with a rather sharp tug very quickly. He reeled in his catch, but it suddenly stopped. Pinball fell, landing on his backside. His line had snapped! Pinball frantically reached for the spear slung across his back, dropping his line, but he was too late. From the waves burst forth a large, ugly creature. Its sharpened claw darted out, locking around Pinball's stomach. It started to squeeze. With a pained grunt, Pinball watched in shock as his health bar lost a chunk of its coloring. He struggled to pull himself free. While he did this, he looked over to Benjamin, and Mars, still fighting in the distance. "Don't worry," he groaned, "I've got this one. Don't aggro it." Just then, a shadowy fog oozed out of the dusty glass jar tied to the boy's waist, taking the form of a cat. The ghostly feline jumped back, standing next to the head of its owner. "Zomekko, watch out. Get ready!

He looks over as he hears a rather loud splash spotting the familiar sight of a mob that looks frightening attacking his partner. 'oh please god have a normal name.' He thinks to himself as he looks to see what it is and then nods his head. Rather surprised at the almost normal name for a menacing mob of that stature as he quickly attack his own opponent attacking the ant quickly at five of its joints ending its life with that attack and gaining a small amount of loot that he could actually use. He then just shrugs at that as gazes around the area figuring he could jump in to help pinball, but for now that would be decided by how much damage can be done. Since otherwise it could potentially just be a waste of his own energy stores. With that he just waits to see the result of one attack.

OK, that looks like you got something big.  I'll just keep gathering some materials while you guys take care of it... Ben said as he headed back into the bushy area.  The plan had been to have him keep gathering while the two higher level guys took care of any big monsters that got fished up.  It still didn't feel right, even if Pinball seemed to be doing fine with dealing with the aggro himself.  Huh, looks like I got another bunch over here... Ben said as he picked another handful out of the bushes.  Maybe this plan would work out pretty well, especially if he kept on getting this lucky with his finds.  With this rate, he would actually be able to craft some stuff to sell.  Which would be great- especially since his current build didn't have a lot of room for col farming in it, with the lack of combat skills.

Pinball managed to rip his body free, staggering backwards, his torse bathed in long, red gashes. He let out a quick sigh, his arm reaching for the spear he had tied to his back with a string. Just as his hand had touched the shaft of the weapon, The Red Menace lashed out with a thick, armored claw. The claw was used as a blunt swing, and the force of impact sent Pinball rolling backwards. "Ack," was all Pinball spat. He pulled his weapon free from the sling, and his ghostly familiar leapt up his arm, shadow creeping up his fingers and coming to a stop at his shoulder. That is where the feline curled up, looking to her master with a questioning stare. Pinball met the cat's blank, white eyes for a moment, before lowering his spear and approaching the monster. He stepped forward slowly, and surprisngly, the monster now seemed to be wary. Whether that be a good thing or a bad thing, he didn't know. He glanced at his healthbar, eyebrows raised in concern, but his expression soon hardened. He was going to kill this thing. He needed the gear, anyways.

He looks over to his partner and sees him get smacked once more by the overgrown lobster like creature as he sighs softly and gets into a runners position activating his sword art as he glances over towards his familiar and gives a nod of his head. The two quickly charge forward with mars jumping high into the air and then slamming his fist into the lobster like creature pushing it into the ground as his fire liger blasts the lobster with a torrent of flames. The Red Menace's HP dropping down rather quickly. With the attack finished he jumps down besides his rival and looks to him with a small grin on his face. Saw you were having trouble with a lobster that is basically only twice its strength of what it should be. Decided that some help could be in order to make sure you don't die. He says in a calm manner.

Are you guys OK?  That, um, sounds like something really big.  I can jump in there with some healing, or a stun attack if need be. he called out, making sure they didn't hesitate if they needed any help.  These enemies could get really lucky with their attacks, and it was always good to have a backup plan for when things went completely wrong.  Especially since the lobster thing was getting in a lot of hits.

He kept on digging through the bushes while his party fought, grabbing a couple of extra pieces for himself.  He had gotten enough for two days of crafting already.  Which was kind of a disappointing way of thinking about how things were going to go- it didn't seem like he was going to be able to keep up with his daily crafting.  Well, at least he'll get a lot of items out of what he is gathering here.

He winced as Mars rushed forwards, him and his liger buffeting the lobster with fiery punches. "Damn it," he grumbled, rushing forward, "I could have done this!" Now that the Red Menace was distracted, too preoccupied with Mars and his familiar to remember about Pinball's cautious approach, it was the perfect oppurtunity to strike. Pinball came up behind the monster, taking advantage of the mob's seemingly poor field of view. Zomekko leapt onto Pinball's weapon, expanding into a fog of shadow that swirled around the Cursed spear. The full force of Pinball's sword art colliding with the Red Menac's hard outer shell. With a pained screech, the monster shattered. "A bit overkill, I think," he muttered, noting the significant drop in his energy. He could have easily taken it out with a smaller Sword Art. He made a quick check of the loot, ensuring it was all in his inventory, before turning to Mars and offering a thumbs up. Wisps of darkness floated into the air, and he noticed that Zomekko's foggy form was still coiled around his spear. "Hey," he said softly, "don't be shy. Say hi." The shadowy mass floated away from the spear, and Zomekko once again condensed into the form of a cat. Large, empty white eyes stared at Mars and his liger from in between Pinball's legs.

He looks over to his partner with a grin at seeing him kill the monster with his sword art and chuckling at the little outrage of his help. Oh i know you could've killed this thing on your own Pinball i don't think you're weak by any stretch of such a thought pattern. Although you were getting beaten around a bit by that mob. Twice even which is surprising for players like us since that usually means it had a few lucky shots on you. Mars says with a grin on his face ignoring the fact that he is talking to someone who could be a tier higher then him, but not caring all that much since he knows this is all in good jest and joking with his rival. TO tease the poor guy for a string of bad luck as it would seem from his health bar. Having not really seen many of the hits and what led up to them. he then watches him talk to his spear and raises a eyebrow at that, and then chuckles seeing the form of a mist cat form. I see you managed to get a familiar for yourself now Pinball. I should be careful if i get into a duel one hit and you could end up killing me. Mars says in a very joking manner as if he doesn't even believe in the thought that he could die in a single hit as of yet. His liger moves towards the misty like cat and experimentally tests its flames by puffing them out life flares to test the cat's reaction to light.

Ben saw the explosion of ice, which meant that his big sword attack had worked.  It looked like they would be going back to fishing soon enough.  Well, it sounds like you guys have things mostly under control there.  You find anything good on the big bad lobster?  Or is it just some regular loot?  Ben called down curiously, a bit envious about how quickly they could dispatch big enemies like that.  At least both of them were having some real luck with taking out whatever popped up from the lake, and it wouldn't slow down the material gathering very much.

Unfortunately he was not having as much luck right now.  The bushes that he was searching around in were probably running low, so he would need to find some other places.  He began to start working his way back around to the part of the lake Pinball was fishing from, getting a better view of everything that was going on from there.

"Nothing special," he replied to Benjamin. "Just some col, really." Pinball grinned, his eyebrows raised. "Lucky hits," he said, letting his spear slide across his back, where it rested in its sling. He sat on the ground, retrieving his fishing rod. As he added another line, he listened to Mars. As the man spoke, his eyes trailed towards the two familiars. From what he knew, Zomekko absolutely hated light. Unfortunately, this realization struck Pinball a moment too late. As the liger's flames flared, Zomekko reeled backwards, her eyes going wide with shock. It leapt backwards, watching the flames with a fearful expression. Then, suddenly, its back arched, and the cat rushed at the Liger, a soundless snarl on its face, turning into the shadowy fog - the same form that she used to assist Pinball in battle. The same form you can't breathe in, he remembered, his thoughts going back to his time with Hei, where the cat had covered his face in the stuff. "Nope!" Pinball leapt forward, sticking his arm out in-between the two familiars. Instead of colliding with the liger, a shadowy Zomekko wrapped around his arm, swirling up and around his body until she regained her normal, catlike appearance. She sat on his shoulder, licking a paw. Pinball cast an helpless expression to Mars.

He cast his line, and the moment the hook sunk, the same Red Menace burst forth from the water, lashing out with a claw. Thankfully, Pinball had been on edge, and he launched himself backwards, evading the monster's attack with an elegant backflip. He reached for his spear, looking to Mars. "I've got this one, this time. Go help out Benjamin. Recover some energy. I'll call ya if I need you." He gave the man a quick thumbs up before pulling out his spear and circling around the monster.

He rolls his eyes at Pinball's insistence to not let him help. However, he understands all the while since he is out of energy and it would be better time spent in making sure his energy was at the maximum amount possible rather then anything else encase he manages to fish up a boss fish next time. He gets back up onto his feet and starts walking away from the the pond and turns to see another red lobster which causes him to chuckle and give a wave as he starts looking for some materials knowing that his contribution will be minimal, but still useful all the while. He glances towards his familiar who quickly walks besides him. The liger giving a side glance towards that cat and letting its flames change to different colors from red, to blue, to orange. The Liger seemingly found the reaction of the cat amusing to a degree.

Mars was walking away from the pond as Ben circled back around the bend.  So, Pinball's fighting these monsters on his own?  I thought the reason we were all coming on this together was to make the farming go faster.  It's not going to work very well if we're all on our own.  Ben said as he tried to decide if he should jump into the fight anyways... but Pinball was almost certainly going to be fine on his own, and it wouldn't do anyone any good to slow things down even more .  Even if he just couldn't find any materials around here.

Mars, is he always so stubborn in fights like this?  Because it gets me worried he's going to get hurt, or worse out there if he wants to fight big mobs on his own.  Then again, maybe I'm worrying too much about it.  I have some healing for emergencies if he looks to be in real trouble.

He had embarrased himself once, and the boy wasn't inclined to do so again. He was ready. From his brief fight with the last monster, he knew that the look of the Red Menace was decieving. The hard, armoured shell of the creature made you think it was going to be fairly weighed down, but that wasn't the case. It moved slowly, too, adding to the illusion of it all. But, when you least expect it, it would lash out with a claw, relying on surprise to hit the player. So, the creature took a swing, Pinball was ready. He snapped into position, the attack hitting the shaft of his spear, he stepped forward, using the momentum to fluidly launch himself into a Sword Art. Zomekko, too distracted by the fight to notice Mars' liger, once again swirled around his weapon, and Dimension Stampede knocked the Red Menace backwards, sending up a cloud of dust. When he was finished, he leapt backwards, leaning against his spear. He only had one more good Sword Art left in him. If he missed, it was over. The monster lumbered forward, its legs, claws, torso, and head now littered and fresh red gashes. The Red Menace's health bar was now in the red, while Pinball's was in the yellow. Pinball touched his own wounds from the previous encounter. Old and new.

He chuckles a bit at hearing Benjamin's worry as he shakes his head. Pinball is a strong fighter, and someone that i am fine with calling him my rival. There is nobody else i would call as such since i think he is the only one that will consistently give me a challenge when presented the opportunity for a duel. Without it being a one sided mess like it would be with any higher levels. If you had a chance to look at my own fight you can tell that the mobs that we fight are barely anything to the two of us. It is just a matter really Benjamin of if he manages to get in over his head i am just one movement away from destroying the mob. He says as he looks over to the scarf wearing boy with a rather serious look. And in reality from what i can tell of your build and such you are not meant to be a fighter just someone who supports. Stick to that path and such and things will stay good, and when doing quests if you get around to that have someone like myself, or pinball to help out. Since tanks are not in supply at all even though the demand for them is insane really. He says with a small shrug and look at Benjamin. If you haven't decided yet of being damage or defense. Take my advice defense is more needed then any amount of damage dealers by this point. he speaks honestly.

2/3 turns out of combat.

Well, yes, I know he can take care of things himself.  It still doesn't mean I'm not going to worry though, that's not changing. Ben said with a sigh as he looked around for some more materials again.  He was having no luck once more, but that would change in time.  Actually, I hadn't even thought much about adding on some more damage- I'd probably have to spend a ton for just the minimum skills- but it is a bit difficult to decide between which support skills I grab.  I've been splitting between gathering for more crafting and healing spells, but it's just at the awkward point right now that it's hard to fully develop any skill tree yet.  I'm still trying to decide between energize and picking to see which side I focus on with my next skill. he explained with a smile.  As much as he was tempted to jump in, he had been focusing totally on his support abilities so far and that wasn't changing.
