[PP-F15] <<Bane of Blood>> I'm not dead yet!

Recommended Posts

I look toward the pack of wolves as they slowly circle around me still as i keep my shield tight within my grip as i prepare for a very hard strike by the enemies that could cause some rather nasty wounds if they could inflict pain that i could actually feel. I keep a firm lock on the group of wolves as i see Hirru and Baldur move in with Hirru managing to miss, but create enough distance within the pack that Baldur could kill one of the stray wolf wargs shattering it into nothing. I look between the mobs as they look between each other before letting out a loud howl into the sky as the three stop circling and just stick close together to try and protect one another's blind spot. I just nod my head as i prepare for the worst thinking that this is most likely going to be something like the mobs getting stronger as they slowly dwindle in number possibly.

I look towards the pack as the two smaller wolves charge forward as i focus on one of them as it goes for a bite as i quickly use my shield to knock it away ever so slightly. When i do so i feel and can see the wolf clinging to my shield as i quickly slam it hard into the ground ignoring the damage that pops up from me doing so as i then focus on the other only to be rewarded with a hard hit to the chest causing me to stumble back ever so slightly. When i look back towards the warg i see it looked stunned ever so slightly from the force of its collision against my armor. I then feel the rumbling ground as i look up to see blood bane go down for a hard bite as it pierces through my armor easily seemingly gaining a red color within its body for a moment before backing away snarling and barking loudly towards me. The two wolves quickly running back towards their alpha ready to jump in front of a attack if need be. The wolf wargs running with a slight limp that is making them ever so slightly slower, and the Alpha himself Blood Bane looking down towards the Wargs with some kind of sense of pity and sadness for its packmates.

With the wolves paying close attention to Hestia as she fought them off, Baldur monoploized the moment, skidding to a stop and activating his sword art <<San Ge>>> on the runt of the pack. It was facing away from him when the crimson bands of colors erupted from his sword and bit into the 3d mesh model, exposing the wire frame before turning the pack animal into shards of brightly colored light that rained down around them.

Two down, and one to go.

Then he would be able to get at the alpha.

Just gotta be conscious of my energy. If I can get through these last few hits, we're in the clear.

As the system carried Baldur through the unthinking motions of his sword art, Baldur suddenly felt the release of the guided motion, and then jumped back, trying to keep distance between him and the other wolves so that Hirru could get in there and kill one, or so that Hestia could get in there and have room to maneuver. She was doing remarkably well when it came to enduring a very tough fight.

I look over towards the pack as another dies from Baldur's attacks as i grin rather happily at seeing that happen as i look towards the Alpha and its last little pack member left. I keep my shield firmly within my grasp to be able to defend against the attacks. 'Well here is to hoping that i won't need to resort to field medic heals.' I think to myself knowing the fight is close, but not entirely over just yet. I watch as the last two canines charge forward as i can only keep my ground and wait for the storm to be over. Activating energize really quickly as my familiar carries the charge over towards baldur to heal him up so he can continue using what is necessary to kill the canines.

I watch the smaller warg charge forward first as i feel it jump against my shield as i throw it off as quick as i can. Seeing its HP drop to almost nothing as i grin at that knowing all it would take is another thorns to kill it. 'wait there is still blood bane.' I quickly turn towards the larger wolf raising my shield as it weirdly instead of charges raises its head towards the sky and lets out a loud howl. I look towards it and sees that it seems reinvigorated in some manner as it lowers towards the ground with a low growl escaping its throat. Baldur! Don't attack this round let the smaller wolf kill itself on me! I call over towards the Samurai just encase he didn't see the same opportunity as myself for getting rid of the small warg without wasting energy.

Baldur smiled as Hestia held off the wolves one more time. Her health was getting too low for his comfort, but she threw the wolf just so perfectly right at him, he couldn't help but activate <<San Ge>> to finish it off. The crimson light of the sword art ate into the mesh form of the last remaining pack wolf, and instead of hitting Baldur, it's form shattered into thousands of shards of light, raining around them with that satisfying sound of shattering glass.

Finally, it was time to take on the big bad wolf.

His steel blue eyes glanced at their health and energy, then back to the alpha. Hestia had been whittling its HP down with her thorny defense, a damage source he had forgotten to calculate in this fight, but which may give them the edge. She had managed to keep his energy up. If he didn't miss, this fight shouldn't take much longer, but it was still not close to being over.

I hear the sound of something shattering as i sigh softly at knowing that the warg just died and that Baldur didn't take the hint of just sitting back for a round so that thorns could've killed the enemy while he had a chance to take the energy recovery option from all of this. ' No use crying about it now. There is bigger fish...canines to fry in this case i guess.' I think to myself while staring at the giant wolf as i activate energize to heal up Baldur's energy to keep him fighting in this. Knowing that if i didn't that he would be entirely useless within a few attacks then in terms of damage. I watch the giant wolf charge forward as i just hold my stance firmly where i am at while looking towards the creature having some semblance of hope that this won't be the end of everything. I watch the larger wolf charge forward and slams into my shield with a a greater force then last time as i have my feet dig into the ground to keep myself from sliding along it.

I feel the fangs of the giant wolf bite down into my shoulder as i grit my teeth as i see its HP bar fill up ever so slightly before dropping more because of Thorns activating. 'Did i just imagine that? Probably it must've been nothing the fight is getting to me.' I think to myself as i back away from the giant canine as it jumps back away from me and looks between the two of us recognizing that its pack is dead from you. The wolf letting out a loud howl of sadness and misery as it tilts its head back towards the sky.

'What are the consequences of your actions..'

The hunter blinked hard and before he knew it a long couple 'minutes' had passed without him doing anything.  'What was that?'  He wondered as he surveyed the situation.  The wargs were nowhere to be found.  With how Baldur and Hestia's gauges were, they must have already killed all three.  Where was he during all of this?  Still standing where he had missed the first warg that he tried to attack.  Was a matter of losing one self from exhaustion?  Possibly, but that couldn't be the case.  The hunter slept regularly for a fair amount of time.  It couldn't be from energy lose as they had only just rested, and he had near full energy.

So why?

The alpha wolf was alone now, which meant that they had the chance to attack it now.  The hunter took this opportunity to ready himself, despite the internal struggle that he was trying to figure out.

"Sorry.. I'm.."

The hunter said slowly as he concentrated on his target before pulling the trigger in his mind, and shooting out.  Waiving just a little, he was able to correct his course by a small margin, but enough to connect with the great wolf.  Several slashes against its foreleg would bring the hunter back to a safe place.  He didn't want to be next to the creature, in case he fell under again.

"I think I'm gonna be alright.."

Baldur watched as Hirru jumped back into the fight, finishing off the final wolf and saving them some precious time and energy. That left only the main wolf. Baldur leapt back, clearing some space so that he could use his <<Charge>> to boost his <<San Ge>> attack on Blood Bane. He felt the hum of the sword art build up around him and he released it, the blue light of his sword art cleaving into the hide of Blood Bane. For a minute, Baldur had felt himself waver, but he pushed through and <<concentrated>> on his foe, making the minor corrections needed to connect.

As the sword are tore into the wolf pelt, Baldur watched as a satisfying chunk of HP was ripped off of the wolf.

"Hirru, it's all you!" As Baldur completed the movement, he quickly tried to reposition. Who knew what the boss could do now that it was unhindered by its pack. It may have extra modes to run into, and it was healing off of Hestia. They needed to stop that before it set them back all the work she had done. And her health was getting too low.

I look towards the giant wolf growl in a low stance as it manages to get blindsided from Hirru as i smile rather happily at that and gives a nod towards the emerald hunter for his successful strike against the creature. Nice job @Hirru! I shout over towards the player before i return my gaze towards the wolf that rushed over towards my after nimbly dodging Baldur as i feel its fangs dig into my armor. I grit my teeth together as i swear i could feel my armor caving under its large canines as it eventually backs away once more from me with a wolfish grin as i check my shoulder and see that he red pixels are still there. Welll crap. Looks like it can put status effects on people. I say softly in annoyance as i shake my head and then refocuses upon the creature thinking nothing of me being hurt.

"What are the consequences for our actions.."

The alpha seemed to have some sort of blood thirst; as if its name didn't have anything to do with it.  The wolf was trained on Hestia, so there was no fear of any damage towards himself, though that could change.  Many of these quest bosses have been gaining some interesting traits, as if they were all evolving in some way.  Some could call in more lesser mobs, and others like this one, could empower the ones around it.  Nature is quite the scary mother, indeed.

With a quick look to both of his comrades, to make sure that they were still on the same track, the hunter readied himself once more.  Without his [Charge] and [Concentration], he could only hope that his hits were true, as he was not as accurate as Baldur can be.  Lurching forward, Loyalty lead the rush against the foreleg once more.  The repeated hits shown more prominent on its hide now, but the beast was still over half it's health remaining.

"Baldur!  Think you can still get some heavy damage out?!"

Baldur watched the fight carefully as suddenly he saw the bleed indicator appear next to Hestia's name, and her health continued to drop low, while the wolf seemed to gain some kind of healing from her attacks. Now that she was bleeding, Baldur could only imagine what would happen next. He had heard of the Bilas fight, where the unicorn blood had caused it to heal, subverting the raid team's expectation that bleed would be good for them.

It all whirled through his mind in a moment. He had to make a snap judgement. What should he do?

But Baldur's nature was always to err on the side of caution. It was better to slow down, get a handle on the situation, and live, than it was to force your way through and be reckless in the hopes of victory and risk someone's life. Hestia was helping him in multiple ways by taking this quest on with him, and he was mad at himself for how much she was hurting and being put in danger.

There were things he needed to fix. Putting the sword down at his side by his saya, Baldur's blade glowed with the azure light of the sword art as his slash suddenly shot forward at incredible speed, stunning Blood Bane and preventing him from being able to capitalize on Hestia's compromised state.

"I stunned it for now, let's try to finish it off!"

I let out a low whistle rather impressed as the Giant wolf just gets knocked around by powerful attacks. I feel my avatar lock up ever so slightly from the bleed taking effect as i move over towards baldur and pats him on the shoulder bringing his energy back up seeing that it is dangerously low. There you go Baldur. Nice job on hurting this thing a lot. i say with a nod of my head with a thumbsup as i back away from the samurai to allow him easy chance to strike at the creature. I stretch out where i am enjoying the small moments of rest that was granted towards me from Baldur stunning the monster. I then feel something nudge against my leg as i turn to see my familiar as i smile rather happily and pets him gently on his head giving my familiar some affection for helping out. There you go buddy. Good work in this fight i couldn't have done it without you. I say in a gentle tone of voice to my familiar as i then feel his tongue lick my face as i giggle rather happily.

"What are the consequences.."

"Nice one, Baldur!  We should be able to get this beast down very soon!"

The hunter called back to his comrade while his cooldown status finally ended to allow him a chance to move once more.  Baldur had struck a heavy blow once more.  He always admired how powerful the katana based combat was, as he had seen it in four powerful people.  Though, there was always some madness to nearly all but the azure samurai.  He could seriously be a master, on the other side.  He had thought about going towards that route, but after learning of the methods to go through with it; he was better off with is one hand.

"Let's see if it likes this!"

The hunter said while keeping his blade aimed towards the alpha wolf, Blood Bane.  His attention swayed slightly, which was becoming more apparent.  It's usually from the overuse of sword arts and energy depletion, but he had not used that much energy at all.  Meteor Break was a very extensive move, but not that bad from only two or three successful attacks.  He had constantly performed the art many times before.  Why was it affecting him now?

Pushing through it all, the hunter found something to focus on and aimed for it.  A bit of the orange gashing that he kept attacking was glowing a bit more than usual.  He aimed for that and shot out.  A firm connection was placed and the art was performed successfully.

[Due to Baldur's math, I've corrected the health value for the 50 dmg that he should have afflicted last time]

The alpha was no longer stunned from his sword art, but it was still staggered. It could technically move, it just hadn't had a chance yet when Hirru nailed the creature with his meteor break. It was a skill his was very familiar with after many of his fights along side both Hirru and Calrex. He knew the exact motions it took as if they were one of his own, and so before Hirru even finished his sword art, Baldur activated San Ge. He could get to it quicker since he had used Iai before, and didn't have to wait for it to cool down.

The boss monster had no room to even react. It had made it's triumphant attack again Hestia, inflicting her with tremendous bleed damage, but now it's time was up. Baldur landed his San Ge in such a way that the attacks wove between Hirru's own, the combined slashes of color cutting through the air almost obscured the giant wolf, until it shattered like glass and exploded in a spray of rainbow polygons.

With ritual practice, Baldur spun the sword about in an elaborate noto, and sheathed the sword with almost a bit of meditation to it. He almost regretfully let go of the blade, and then seemed to throw something away when it was done. His whole posture changing as he seemed to relax now that the fight was over.

"I am glad that is done. You were beginning to worry me Hestia." he gave her a friendly smile. He knew that she was not in any danger, but she was dancing next to a line that didn't make him comfortable. He hated to see his friends approach 50% HP. It never got that bad before.

He turned his steel blue eyes to Hirru, "Well done my friend. I appreciate both of you helping me out with this. I definitely couldn't have done that fight on my own without you both like I had been considering." Baldur gave a bit of a nervous laugh. Maybe he could have, but he would have gone through all of his energy potions and healing potions.

I smile rather happily as i watch both of the warriors charge forth towards the creature that was unable to move at the time and then proceed to strike it down with trained marksmanship. With that i rather happily go to sit down on the ground as i look between the two fighters as something rings within my mind as i glance about the area. Before i could say or ask anything i hear Baldur's voice and i turn towards the Samurai and gives a rather kind smile as i gaze at him with cheerful blue colored eyes. Thanks for the concern, and i obviously have to thank the both of you for going on this quest with me. If i did it by myself i probably would've been stuck here for centuries from having to use thorns to widdle them down slowly but surely. I say with a small chuckle at the thought of just having to take the beating i did, but for a much longer time. I then glance towards the hunter and smiles a bit remembering something Itzal had told me about. I gaze towards the emerald hunter. Hey Hirru could you do me a favor and see if you can find a dungeon around here? I wouldn't mind having something like that down on a map for future use since i am certain all of us are rather exhausted from this quest. Also, i kinda heard that you might have the searching skill, so i thought you would have the most luck with trying to find something like that. I say towards the hunter with a curious gaze as i cross my arms at my chest and shifts my weight towards my right. Getting comfortable as much as i am able to do so while standing up.

The hunter nodded to his comrades as the foul beast was finally lain low by the party of three.  Baldur was always in the finest of conditions, but Hestia seemed to have proved herself far greater than he had through before.  She definitely wasn't a Shield, or Calrex, but her own style of tank.  He thought that would fit well for the fights to come.  Though, the fact that they had to use healing items to sustain themselves seemed troubling, but what can one do.  Especially with someone like the hunter in the party.  There was still much more work that he had to put into his body to meet the demands of the front lines.  He couldn't just stay a tactician, as many others have proved themselves with plans that trumped his own.

Finally gaining control of his body once more, the act of moving became more sluggish.  It was not as bad as having ones energy fully drained, but it was nearly there.  He still couldn't figure out what was causing it all, but it was starting to get annoying.  If he could last a little longer until they got to the next town or so, he would rest at an inn.  Though, he wasn't abhorrent to the idea of camping out, as he always did.

"Huh... Oh yeah.. I can do that.."

With his trinket already on, he had a high chance of finding something, but with the recent changes that he had noticed, some people have reported sub dungeons becoming as hard as raid bosses.

[ID: 101969] LD: 11+11 = 22 [Advanced Dungeon Confirmed]

The minute that the hunter activated all of his search skills and mods at once; it was like a bolt of lightning had struck him.  His body tensed up and immediately slackened to the point of him falling to his knees. Due to the pain constraints of the system, he could not feel it, but everything seemed to turn black and white.  Still, with much strain, his arm crept up as his finger pointed towards a tree that seemed to be hollowed out from several hundreds of claw markings.

His last act before falling to the ground, unconscious.

"Hirru?" Baldur suddenly asked as he saw the jade hunter swaying on his feet before falling to the ground.

"Hirru!" The samurai rushed over to his friend, skidding on the ground to a stop next to the man and pulling him up into a reclining position against him. Baldur's first instinct was to check for breathing, but they were in a video game. It wasn't until AFTER he had already checked on the breathing that Baldur realized the follow of his ways.

The next thing that gave Baldur a heart attack was wondering if maybe something had happened to his nervegear in the read world. Had he lost power? Or had someone disconnected him? Was their time up? Baldur had always known they were operating on borrowed time. Perhaps too much of it had gone by.

"Come on Hirru, let me be wrong and wake up." He tried slapping the jade hunter's face to get him to wake up as one might in the real world, but how did you do that in the digital one? What senses got through when you were asleep? Baldur had never researched that. But Hirru's health bar remained solid, and the longer it did so, the more Baldur relaxed.

"Wake up my friend. What's going on." Turning his steel blue eyes to Hestia, he silently pleaded for her to help them.

I look over towards Hirru seeing him point towards a direction of a tree as i make my way over and marks the location upon a map and quickly puts it away as i hear Baldur freak out as i turn my head towards Hirru and quickly makes my way over towards him as i check for signs of life as i just gaze towards his health bar seeing it remain steady and no effects listed. 'Poison, and paralysis removed from the diagnosis. Other things to note weakened and exhausted sounding at the time he was speaking about the dungeon. Passed out on the spot. Distracted during battle.' I think to myself listing off things i had noticed shortly before he had passed out as i glance towards the samurai and nods my head simply. I simply pat him gently on the back as i look over towards my familiar. Come on Kuro go back towards town look for a tavern where we can put our brave friend here! I shout over towards my familiar as he quickly takes off toward sthe skies with his wings as he makes his way back towards the settlement as i nod my head towards baldur. Don't worry your friend is alright. I am just going to need you to help me carry him all the way back towards the main settlement. Right now i am guessing he is suffering from exhaustion of which i can only maybe pinpoint the source towards a lack of sleep he might've gotten that finally caught up to him. Although i am doubtful since he seemed attentive enough until battle had begun. I am ruling out poison since there is no status effect showing up near his health bar. I say towards the samurai with a nod of my head. As i give Baldur a gentle look and says in a soft tone of voice. He just needs some rest once he gets that he will be back and feeling better then ever. Worse case scenario we might be dealing with somehow a first case of someone getting sick within Aincrad.

Baldur adjusted his grip and then stood up with the Jade Hunter in a deadlift that would have been  much more impressive in the real world, but since stats were simply a fact of life in this game, the feat was much less technically impressive, though it was still visually so. The large Samurai was bigger than most people, though not greatly larger than the jade hunter. Holding his friend in a princess carry, Baldur looked over to Hestia, a bit of worry still in his eyes, but the panic was gone.

"We should get him out of here then, and head back to the nearest settlement. I would just teleport us there, but since he's unconscious I can't use a crystal to get back. Looks like we'll have to take this the long way around."

Taking one unsteady step forward, Baldur eventually found his footing and his balance, and then began the journey back.

"Thanks, Hestia.... for keeping a level head. I appreciate it."

I nod my head at the samurai's words with a smile on my face as i see the man pick up his friend and start to carry him back towards the main settlement as i follow him back towards the main settlement myself. I just nod my head with a smile on my face as i look towards the man in question. There is no need to thank me Baldur. You're just worried about your friend it is natural to get worried. I say in a gentle tone of voice towards the man with a smile as i make my way through the terrain of the fifteenth floor. Which is primarily a rather swampy place from experience with a few bits of land that are dry enough to feel like a rather normal walk through the woods with a rather unsettling vibe from it all. I swap through my menus as i switch on over towards some basic vanity clothing since the quest has been completed, and the mobs upon the floor aren't as scary as the quest creatures. Knowing i can trust in my familiar to protect me from any monsters.
