[Real name]   Tully Stillwater

[Age]   20, May-01

[Gender]   Male

[Height]   6' 0"

History:
[Place of Origin]   Oslo, Norway (Primarily)

[Early Life]   Born into a British/Swedish union, Tully's upbringing was nothing short of multicultural. As a child, his family never stayed in one region for too long, and he picked up little pieces of the many languages he'd been exposed to: Norwegian, Swedish, and Dutch to name a few. Growing up on histories and stories from across Europe meant he had gradually developed a curiosity with the Middle Ages and Fantasy alike; A fascination that eventually led to his interest in the upcoming Sword Art Online and an inevitable, digital demise.

[School Years]   Tully was encouraged to perform well during his schooling years, and having parents of self-made success set a steep bar for the young lad. His grades never completely disappointed the folks but the pressure managed to catch up with him at times, and all hopes of a fulfilling social life were swiftly set aside. Friends came and faded over the years; Sports clubs, school peers, gaming buddies. From the wreckage of these circles, Tully did sometimes keep in contact with a person or two, and, come the year of his high school graduation, a small network of International e-Friends was formed. Half of the network - around 5 people - would enter the game together.

[Adulthood]   Though brief, Tully's adolescence boasted changes aplenty. He landed a role in a reputable family-owned business in Oslo, his home city, shifting away from his parent's migratory lifestyle for the lighter city experience. Educated, half-financially stable and in fair shape, he might even have appeared as a fully functioning adult to those around him. By all accounts and beknownst to him, his life was average compared to his elders - plain, even - but the simplicity and freedom went appreciated. Droves of his time was spent gaming with the network of friends and with few responsibilities to tie him down, he'd made frequent weekend trips to visit them in his previous home countries. The announcement of NerveGear and it's upcoming title led half of them to Japan on a two-week long gaming extravaganza, yet the return flight would remain unboarded.

Personality:
[Overview]   As an upbeat (yet socially inept), intelligent (though sort of snobbish) and relatively proud character, Tully thinks of himself as 'having it together' (strictly speaking, not true at all.)  No pre-existing conditions followed him through to the pearly gates of Aincrad, and adversity wasn't weighing him down upon entering; Quite the opposite, in fact. Through and through Tully is a good guy, though he has a funky way of showing it.

[Traits]

  • Upbeat | Tully's attempts to be radiant may brush others the wrong way but he does try to stay chipper.
  • *Good | Truly good aligned, he's more a conventionally good guy than anything else.
  • Innovative | Creativity is a double-edge sword; he struggles to communicate his ideas a lot of the time.
  • Socially un-gifted | His conversation skills leave a lot to be desired, he manages to get by however.
  • Adventurous | The man likes to explore the great green wilderness, more as just an excuse to get outside.

Virtues:
[Adventurous]   Bold; Not one to stand idly in a realm so full of adventure, a lifetime of migrating saw Tully develop a taste for the unknown. He craves the mysterious and unexplored, getting out into the world in spite of the obvious risks. With life so different in a digital environment, it would be in his interests to learn a sense of danger and uncertainty, lest he fall victim to his roaming desires.

[Learned]    Living in a roulette of countries exposed Tully to some enlightening, eyeopening things, and have made him a learned man for it; Volunteering programs taught him compassion for the less fortunate, traveling to smaller nations exposed him to rich histories, etc. There are many things out there he still strives to learn, though it's nothing but a pipe dream until the game is beaten.

[Problem Solver]   Creative, think-outside-of-the-box solutions are Tully's game. If no obvious answer arises to a riddle then one would struggle to pry him away from it; Only once it's solved will he leave it alone. Although the ability to adopt unique ideas is a useful talent for a world so cruel and unforgiving, thinking too unconventionally could land him in an unfortunate position.

Flaws:
[Obstinate]   Tully's problem-solving tendencies prove useful in day-to-day life. Not to say that it's without its caveats, however, as he tends to disregard the opinions of others when they clash with his own. Once his mind is made up there is little going back, and it's only with chagrin that he might back down if met with disapproval. The man prefers his own way of doing things, an attitude that proves itself a point of conflict.

[Excitable]   Act first; Think later. Tully tends to forget himself amid an adrenaline rush, acting on impulse rather than logic. Very obvious problems arise when one lets instincts get the better of them, death being the least pleasant. The man's excitable nature - while cute - will be an express ticket for his own undoing. This needs to be overcome if he's to survive for any length of time.

[Disorderly]   Much to the vexation of his gaming buddies, Tully isn't one to abide by a 'plan'. As an opportunistic in-the-moment-type person, a chance to make progress is never too good to pass, even to the detriment of a greater scheme. This attitude isn't black and white, of course; A truly urgent matter might see the man fall in line, if only because he would rather not have friendly blood on his hands.
