tumblr_m4xz7qzTO41r1v8ydo1_500.gif

You have been approached by a worried NPC Mother. She is erratic and asks you to help find her missing child. She tells you that her child was playing in one of the caverns on the second floor with their friend, but they were attacked by monsters, their friend got away but they are still missing. As you approach the cave you realize that it's pitch black inside and that it has affected your mission with vision disabilities.

Requirements:

-Rp must be at least 1 full page long (21 or more posts)
-Due to the cave's darkness and there being no light, any players that chose to enter the cave receive a -1 debuff on all dice rolls unless they have <<Night Vision>>.
-
You must fight two <<Giant Bats>>
-You must find the lost child

Giant Bat Information:

<Giant Bat> is a Field mob and has the following statistics:
Giant Bat: 50 HP
Damage per Attack: 20

Rewards:

  1. 1 Skill Point.
  2. A Col Value of your Loot Dice multiplied by 25 [ Party leader rolls LD. All players receive that amount ]

It was time for hey to take a day off and get some excitement, as he had been working in his shop lately, and there hadn't been to much up besides that. So he had decided, that it was time he went to go and do some hiking on the second floor. Of course he had thought about going to the higher floors, but he wanted to just chill and hike, have a good look at the beautiful nature without having to fear the mobs on the floor.
After he had a great Breakfast with Fae and his little raptor Huatli, he had equipped his free time gear consisting of black shorts, a dark green sleeveless shirt and his cloak, depicting his guilds sigil. With as little equipment as that,  and of course his trident, he made his way to the teleporter within the town of beginnings to get up to the second floor. Once he was in Urbos, he searched for a place where he could see the mountains to plan where to hike to, while Huatli the little raptor started walking around, looking at NPCs and Players alike and once or twice hissing at children that wanted to touch her.

OOC: @Kioshi you can come and meet me anywhere in the town, or wait for my next post after you, to meet with me and the crying mother (if you don't want to "summon" her in your post)

"P..please, save my child! She is all I have!" Cried a woman NPC as her face is red and her eyes flooded with tears. For the past few minutes she has being crying and moaning about her lost little girl to Kioshi. Her child was playing in the caverns, and she ended up getting lost as there was no light in the cave.

That was what the quest window say as it is floating at Kioshi's right side. Rewards? Some experience and a sum of COL, though the amount is undetermined. Without any hesitation, Kioshi presses the green button, initiating the quest. It would very d*ckish to not help a mother who love her child so dearly, NPC or not. It is the right thing to do. A heroic deed.

Kioshi visibly nods at the woman, who let out a small, tearful cheer in delight, and give him a bear hug for a few seconds. Kioshi just lets her embrace her only hope.

Swiping his finger down, he brings up the inventory to bring out his armor. His sword is already belted around his waist, and he is standing in his simple clothing.

When Huatli jumped at a little girl that had tried to pet her, Hei had to interfere. With a big stomp and a lout "Stop it now!" he brought the small raptor to an halt before she could hurt the girl. Still looking angry at the raptor he softened his voice and turned to the girl "You shouldn't pet the familiars of other players. It could be dangerous, just think about what could have happened if Huatli had really attacked you" he said, and even with this soft voice, the girl started to weep a little and ran away. That was when Hei noticed the crying of some female NPC and he turned to look, just to see the same NPC mother he had met once before, when he, Levi and Stryder had been on this floor. An old men talked to her, and once she had stopped crying, he equipped some armour. - Oh, he is going to enter the caves, maybe I should ask him if he could need some help. It's quite dark down there - and so Hei walked over to Kioshi and said "Hello, my name is Hei from the Guardians of the New Dawn and I noticed you just talked with that poor woman. In case of you doing the quest to safe her daughter, would you allow me to support you on this mission?" And while Hei asked that, Huatli walked straight at the old man and sniffed before turning it's head to look up at the players face.

As the breastplate and spaulders are worn, he holds his helmet and is about to become the tin man again when at the corner of his vision, someone is approaching him. Kioshi decides to see who it is before wearing his helmet, and sees that this man has a green marker above his head. A real person.

He listens to the guy's introduction. His name is Hei, and he is from a guild. One of the top guilds Kioshi is aware of so far. Guardians Of The New Dawn. These helpers of other players who wants to survive in Aincrad. Guild's probably consists of good Samaritans...or maybe that is just a facade. Maybe to merely gain swag or trust, so they can stab the helpless in the back when they want to...

He is thinking too much, and is probably spacing out up until when the guy asks him if he wants help. Support. Mission. These words he manages to catch on.

Kioshi turns his head to Hei, glaring at him with his neutral, scowling elderly expression for a minute before finally giving him a small, single nod. Better to have help in the darkness than risking himself being alone and trapped in there.

Something else catches Kioshi's attention. He turns his head to see a feathered raptor sniffing and looking up to him. Inside himself, he is quite surprised that not only a dinosaur exists in Aincrad, but it looks like that it is possible to tame a monster and make it someone's pet. A new lesson learned today.

Without any remarks or just anything to say in general, he finally wears his helmet. Now the tin man is ready. He gives Hei one more glare before walking past him, using the map to guide himself to the not so distant cave.

The old man, now wearing some kind of historic full plate armour seemed to space out a little as he had moved towards him, but once Hei had asked him if he needed support, he had nodded. -That must be a yes - Hei thought and got ready to help him. When the man saw Huatli, it seemed he was surprised, but then Hei had a raptor for a companion, so why not being surprised. Hei himself was surprised, that someone as old as this guy was playing SAO. Most older people didn't like modern technology that much, and for sure not some kind of game, that was fully virtual, but then there were kids who don't liked them as well.

Once the man had put on the helmet and now looked like some kind of strange knight he looked at Hei once more and started the journey towards the local cave without saying a single word. Hei who normally was a quite social and talkative person didn't quite know how to handle this players, so he just kept following him. Once they were in the cave and there was fighting involved, he would be more helpful and maybe the other player would be ready to talk to him.

The cave's mouth is located at the base of a hill notable for it's slightly odd cone shape in a way that Kioshi can't quite figure out what is different about this. Shape looks normal...maybe it is the way it is tilted naturally. Or maybe the height of both sides are not parallel to each other. It isn't too tall too, the summit looks like it can be hiked with proper climbing equipment.

As he reaches the entrance, he notices that it is a bit short, requiring him to duck and enter, which he does. Inside's large enough for him to stand comfortably. Only by looking ahead does he realize that there is really no light in this cave, which sucks. He has heard of a skill called 'Night Vision', which players can use to see the dark clearly. Too bad his level isn't even high enough for him to learn such an ability. Drawing out his sword, he relies on the blade and his ears to guide himself into the cave, as well as being aware of a presence.

He makes sure to stay close to his partner, and to not rush.

  • 2 weeks later...

The armoured old man walked in front of him, leading the two of them towards the hill where they would find the cave. Hei remembered, that it was totally dark inside, but he was sure, that his training with Huatli would pay off now that he would have to rely on her fine nose and even better ears. Kioshi ducked to enter the cave, and Hei followed him, looking out for his head to not hit the stone and as soon as they were inside, he was able to stand up once again. With his spear in hand and his armour covering his arms, he was ready to go for the fight, that would come not to far inside the cave.
Hearing at all the noises within the cave, he noticed that Kioshi had stopped and seemed to wait for him, so Hei walked towards him and with soft voice and quite quietly, he said "It's pretty dark in here, we should keep close and maybe always talk, so we don't lose each other. I can tell you, that there will be a fight soon, and those mobs don't care if it's dark or not, so be ready for a strange and maybe hard fight."

The walls of the cave are dry and rough through the first steps into the passage, but as Kioshi and his partner advances further, the walls become damp and smooth. Easy to lean on. Cold to the touch. A physical compass in the pitch blackness of the dark. Kioshi only has to look forward and listen hard to any odd sounds nearby, one hand holding the Zweihander while the other caresses the walls carefully while he walks.

Then, he hears a loud, short screech, coming from above. Must be bats. Kioshi quickly looks to see a furry mass suddenly descending down towards, bearing its fangs with its red glowing eyes wide open.

Sh*t! He thinks to himself as he quickly jumps backwards, his back hitting the walls as he points the blade towards the creature, which is now standing on its two legs. It is a bat alright, albeit a large one. It lets out a small shriek as both Kioshi and itself slowly advance towards each other, looking for an opening. Because the cave is so damn dark that he can barely see anything but its eyes, it would be hard to pinpoint his foe's exact location.

Even though they had entered the cave and the darkness, it seemed that the older player didn't want to talk to him. So with Kioshi being quiet, Hei stopped talking, too. And instead focused his brain activity towards hearing. He could hear Kioshi walking somewhere up front, and his hand sliding against the wall, and so he followed the sounds, while the sounds of tiny but fanged feet followed him, as Huatli was searching her way through the darkness as well.
Suddenly, Hei could hear a screeching, as the first of the giant bats appeared and attacked Kioshi, who tried to attack it as well, but missed. With there being nearly no light, it was really hard to find them, but Hei was sure he could end that one without a problem, but maybe Kioshi wanted to fight the bat himself, so Hei tried to find where the second one was, that most likely would attack them any moment. He was just about to turn back to where the first one was, when he heard Huatli hissing at the darkness. With his spear in hand,  he turned that way, and started to charge a weaker swordskill to end the beast before it could do anything. His spear began glowing in a bright blue as he charged a sould pierce and so he was able to see the bat coming. It's red eyes glowed in the darkness, but before it could do anything, Hei stabbed at it, releasing the attack and killing it with a single blow.

As if the dark isn't enough to impede Kioshi's attacks, the giant bat suddenly leaps around the passage, bouncing off walls and the ceiling in an attempt to confuse the hell out of him. As he is about to quickly turn around, he feels the back of his armor clawed swiftly, and in response, swings at a 180 degree only to miss the creature again. It now stands a few meters away from him, shrieking as it bears its fangs.

This would be a threat to new players, but for Kioshi, the bat is now nothing but a nuisance, similar to a mosquito that constantly flies here and there in his own room. The claw barely damaged him as it was nothing more than a love tap from the bat.

Still, Kioshi doesn't underestimate it especially since the area he is in is a total disadvantage to fighters. What if the bat suddenly has access to some secret passage in the walls and ambush him successfully? He shakes his head at such a possibility. As far as he can feel on the walls, there are no holes of any size.

Hei had killed his enemy, but it seemed, that Kioshi was still busy fighting the second giant bat that had come to fight them when the pixels had disappeared. The old man fought with some kind of two handed straigthsword and Hei wasn't sure how well the weapon would do in here, where there was stone all around and one couldn't really see that well, but he wasn't going to tell the man that his choice of weapon wasn't really that good for in here. Then he heard and saw, how the bat attacked the players, hitting him in the back, but it seemed the attack did not even penetrate the armour, just dealing super low damage. Wondering if Kioshi would take his help, he simply decided to ask the other player, while he would not be attacking the monster without the older guys permission. "Hey you, do you need some help with this fight? If not I will go further into the cave and have a look for the child that is missing"

Attacking like a tornado might be a surprise for the enemy, and would probably work against it if not for these damn walls. Kioshi couldn't even swing his sword properly in horizontal motions, and the bat seems to know this as it is constantly trying to get to his side only for himself to quickly face him every now and then. By pure luck, he randomly unleashes his Sword Art to the bat that was about to lunge towards him, the green blade ends up slashing its face, disfiguring it.

The bat shrieks as it covers its face momentarily, finding the task of breathing through its nostrils difficult to carry out. Kioshi turns around to see his partner killing another bat in just one swoop. Not a surprise, considering that he possesses a higher level of combat than himself.

When he hears the male asking him if he needs help, Kioshi simply nods, not wanting to fight any longer in dark places like these.

Hei was still waiting for the permission to intercept the fight when the old man finally landed a hit on the bat, dealing some damage, but not even enough for it to drop into the yellow. - If this was all the damage he could deal, it would take a long time for the fight to be over - Hei was thinking, but then he saw in the light of the bats glowing wound, that the man had nodded at him. This probably was the sight he had been waiting for, and even without knowing for sure, Hei made a clacking noise, the small raptor made his way towards the bat and attacked it, the mall wounds glowing in the dark and showing Hei where he had to attack. his spear began glowing dark violet while he moved towards it, slowly to not crash into Kioshi, and once he was so close, the head of his trident would be able to touch the bat, he released the swordskill, swinging the spear in a small movement and slashing it's head against the bat, instantly reducing it's HP to zero and making it explode into pixels

That completely settles this annoying commotion. Kioshi just watches the bat dying in agony, then he turns his helmet to the male's direction, whom he gives a small bow to. Holding his sword and placing the blade onto his shoulder, Kioshi moves on deeper into the passage, listening hard for footsteps other than himself and the male, and maybe a child's voice, be it a cry or a sentence.

The thought of getting lost in a dark, claustrophobic place like catacombs or tight cave passages is already a fate brutal enough to beat the living piss out of one's rationale and sanity. No plausible food or water. No light. No one to seek help for. No clear path. No safety. No hope. And no escape. Mother Nature is a b**ch to anyone and everyone who is involved. Even in Aincrad, this aspect ain't different from Earth. Add monsters and dungeon or maybe natural traps, and one is in for a s**tshow if he is a wimp.

Maybe that is why parts of the Earth are void of nature. Only buildings, industry, bright, sometimes neon lights, all of these serve as non-organic 'plants' of the modern jungle. Since all of these are man made, the chance of getting pricked by thorns or falling into a natural pit is extremely slim. Take that.

Kioshi shakes his head slightly as he finishes thinking of this philosophy. What did he miss now? He ends up turning his head to look at the male player for only a few seconds while still walking ahead.

When Hei had killed the giant bat, Kioshi had watched it die, before he had turned towards Hei. The metal helmet hid nearly his whole face, so Hei couldn't see his expression, but the old man bowed at least a little, probably thanking him for ending the fight. - He seems to be polite, but still he hasn't said a single word. It's really strange, but I can't force him to talk to me - Hei thought, while he saw that Kioshi turned away and started walking deeper into the cave, his sword resting on his shoulder.
Seeing the heavy armoured fighter, Hei had to think of a knight, but none of those shiny ones that fight only for their pride and honour, but one that had actually had a rough life helping others out in the real world. He marched into the deeper parts of the cave, and it seemed that he did so without actually being focused, so after a short while of walking, he turned back to Hei, looked at him, but he still lead them deeper into the cave.
"You know, maybe the kid is to scarred to be heard. Maybe she is holding her breath in fear, what'd you think about us calling for her?" he asked the man, as it seemed a good idea to get the child's attention to find her.

Hearing the male's suggestion, Kioshi thinks it is a good idea...if they are outside the cave. Here, it might attract unwanted attention if they try to call her out, let alone making so much noise in a not so acoustic friendly cave. Just as Kioshi is about to think about using a rock to bang the walls in rhythm, he suddenly hears a bloodcurdling scream, belonging to possibly the little girl. Drawing out his sword, he turns around and quickly rushes on, suddenly fearing of her fate. He rather see her being attacked by a monster than seeing her fall into some random pit. It would be too horrible, and this makes his stomach hurt, his blood boiled in anger to whoever might be attacking the child now.

It doesn't take too long for him to arrive at a chamber, though he couldn't tell. Slowly, he walks on, looking around for any culprits that might be hiding here. His breathing slow but deep, his hands gripping the sword tightly.

Once he had asked Kioshi about his opinion on calling for the small child they were looking, he watched the man closely, as he wasn't sure if the man would answer in word, or maybe just some gesture, and so he noticed the thoughtful face the old man was making. Then he saw, that the man seemed to have come to a conclusion, but before he could see what the conclusion was, Hei heard a loud scream of fear that must have come from the little girl they were looking for. Without hesitation Kioshi drew his blade and rushed towards the source of the scream.
Hei of course followed the man, his spear in hand, charging through the dark after him. When they entered a huge cavernous room, there was a strange light, not bright enough to actually help them fight, but enough to see the small girl pressed against a wall, with something moving towards her. "Stay there, we are here to save you!"  Hei yelled, so both the girl and what ever it was that attacked her turned towards him. In the damp light, it seemed as if a part of the cave itself started moving at him, as the stone golem started it's attack by rattling towards him and flailing it's stony arms at Hei, who quickly jumped back, evading the attack.

As his partner points out the girl's location, Kioshi turns around to see a faint light suddenly approaching the male, swinging a stony thing right at his head, but misses. The Zweihander glows green in color, and for a moment he could make out some sort of creature made entirely out of stone. Short. Possibly a golem.

Without warning, he suddenly swings his sword towards the golem's skull, cutting off a chunk of it with his Sword Art. The golem becomes enraged as it attempts to swing its legs towards him, but to no effect as he constantly dodges everywhere.

The one thing that Kioshi has to be aware of is the length of his sword. He thinks that he shouldn't be anywhere near the vicinity of the girl, in fear that the blade might kill or wound her by accident. Leaning his back against the cave wall, Kioshi grips his sword tightly.

Kioshi had followed up, so he was close enough to without a warning swing his sword at the golem and actually hitting it in the head. A chunk of stone flew away, just to dissolve into pixels, but the golem's body continued walking towards the two of them, now prioritising the old man, as he had hit it in the head. Strange groaning noises, came from the golem as it started to follow the armoured man, who had fallen back towards the next wall, maybe trying to lure the monster away from the child. - He still is quite a low level, I don't thin his damage will be enough to kill the monster any time soon, even with his first blow dealing nearly half of it's HP. I can attack it without killing it, so he can deal the killing damage - Hei thought, and as he was worried about the girl, simply stabbing at the golem without using any swordskill at all, and walked right up to her. The attack hit it's target, dropping the golem's HP into the yellow, but Hei wasn't even paying attention any more, as he walked over to the girl and in soft voice said "Don't worry my little one, we will protect you and lead you back to your mum" and as the girl calmed down a little, he made his spear disappear and then he patted her back and finally lift her of the ground, holding her against his shoulder, still soothing her with soft voice.

Darn. Even the male's attacks are ignored, like that was a love tap to the golem. Kioshi notices him already rushing towards the little girl and calming her down. Good to see that. But that would mean that he have to be its punching bag for the time being. Quickly, he takes three swings with his sword towards his foe, but it deflects them with its stone arms like armor. Out of nowhere, it launches a roundhouse kick towards Kioshi's helmet, which loses its balance as it spins around his head, prompting him to take a few steps back. He adjusts his helmet and ducks down to dodge another incoming kick before moving on to continue dodging and swinging his sword wildly.

At probably the seventh swing, he quickly runs out of the chamber, wanting to lure the golem away from the player and the girl. Knowing his armor can take its pathetic damage, Kioshi then goes berserk as he barely hits the golem in the face, which somehow ducks swiftly to avoid the strike.
