[F2 - PP]Saving the Day from Darkness (Let there be Light with Kioshi) COMPLETE

Recommended Posts

With the small girl on his arm, Hei was not able to help Kioshi fight the stone golem, that had started to attack the armoured old man. Hei wished he could, but he was sure that Kioshi was trained well enough to end the fight on his own. He had seen the swordsman's first attack, and it had been a nice blow to the golem's HP. "Keep up the good fight, I'm sure you'll hit it next time" he tried to encourage the old man, while he was still holding the child, that had stopped crying for the moment. He turned to the girl and instantly his voice got soft again. "Don't worry, we'll be out of this dark cave in no time" and just as to strengthen his words, he started moving towards the tunnel they had come from to make his way out into the light. It would take him some time to get out of this cave, but as long as he was walking the girl would be quiet, as she was full of hope at this moment.

Using most of the strength he has left as he winds up back into the chamber, Kioshi unleashes his Sword Art and as hard as he can, swings his mighty weapon against the golem. It is a lucky success, for the length of the blade lands onto its head, causing it to crack and explode itself into digital triangles. Kioshi pants heavily in his helmet, looking at the result he had caused and lets out a satisfactory sigh.

Putting his sword back into its respective sheath, Kioshi quickly walks to the exit of this forsaken cave, hugging the wall to guide himself. The male and the little girl are probably outside now. He won't be surprised if the mother happens to wait outside the cave just to see her child quickly. A convenience to anyone willing to finish this quest hurriedly like him.

A few minutes pass in the darkness and soon he is able to hear footsteps other than himself at his front. No doubt, it is his partner and the objective, all safe and sound.

Hei had to walk slowly, not to stumble and let the girl fall to the ground, so he had one hand at the wall. After some time he could hear the steps of Kioshi behind him, which made him think that the warrior probably had killed the golem. Before Kioshi had reached him, Hei could see the light of the caves entrance. "Here we go, can you see the light" Hei said to the girl as he reached the exit. The small girl on his shoulder was about to jump from his arms, but Hei held her there, so she started to nag and struggle. As Hei's eyes got used to the bright light again, he saw the mother waiting for her child, so he let go of her. The mother ran towards the small girl that made her way to the mother instantly, and once they hugged in the middle, Hei decided that his work was done. He walked away a little, so Kioshi could finish the quest. While he did so, Hei had a look at the surrounding area for something of worth.

The mother cries in marvelous joy along with her beloved daughter, both embracing each other as tight as a cocoon. A sweet scene to witness in front of Kioshi's eyes, to which he strongly agrees deep within himself despite retaining his emotionless expression in his helmet. The mother looks at him and smiles brightly, saying, "Thank you, warrior! You are the best hero in my life!"

That doesn't sound so bad, especially with this kind of context. Kioshi nods back, feeling glad that their life are no longer at the risk of being shambles. After waving goodbye to the little girl too, he departs to the main settlement, looking forward for lunch soon. Sure, they are NPCs. Bodies with scripted souls. But for someone like Kioshi, this is the closest he can get to getting a genuine sounding compliment from something that is at least human.

Noon comes by. Kioshi sits at a table, unarmored. Eating lamb alone near a window of a tavern. Throughout his lunch he couldn't stop staring blankly at the window, looking at NPCs and players walking by. Some with their companions. Some even with lovers.

He shakes his head slowly, as if he is assuring himself that he will be fine with only mere acquaintances. Maybe his strength alone can compensate whatever is empty in his heart for years in reality.
