[F2 Kitchen - Rank 2 Cook] Revenant's Bush [OPEN]

Recommended Posts

campfire-silhouette-1.png

Welcome to the Revenant's Bush. You pay for it, you eat it you wuss. Most of these foods are wild-oriented, in the style of such delicacies like Australian bushfood or the cuisines enjoyed by American fronstiermen in the Rocky Mountains that worked under competitive fur companies. Not preferring such food? We have civilized versions like pies, sushi or whatnot, but their quantities may won't be as much as the former type of cuisine.

Happy dining, warriors, and eat hearty. For who knows, you might dine in hell tonight if fate permits it.

The stats, prices and order form is below this sign. The menu is at a different section.

With his shop set up, Kioshi wastes no time in getting right to work. Though the shop looks like a modern food stall similar to what one would find in a shopping mall, the kitchen is a completely different area. With stones as walls and grass as floors, the area is equipped with a campfire complete with its own stand, some basic cooking pots and utensils and a modern clean basin. An oven is also included in the kitchen.

Kioshi attempts to make another simple bannock, mixing flour and water. After the dough is wrapped, he attempts to wrap it around a stick and roasts it over a fire, only for the dough to slip away from the stick and fall into the fire, much to his disappointment. He tries a second time with a new dough. This too fails, and no spare dough can be salvaged.

Maybe a frying pan is a better option these days.

Kioshi tries to make biltong from beef, cutting strips of meat and hangs it outside with a drying rack just under the sun. He doesn't know if what he does is right, but hopefully it would produce at least some decent results. He goes back in to have a cup of cold red syrup drink, the taste being quite sweet. Maybe he should have gotten more rest, as he soon falls asleep and the rain pours down, wetting the drying meat.

Awaking to the sound of thunder, Kioshi opens his eyes and stares outside, noticing that the rain is getting heavier. Much to his shock, he hurriedly walks outside to find the meat being so damp. He does a facepalm, regretting his method. An electric oven would dry the meat faster, and this is done indoors too, complete protection from the elements. He disposes the meat inside and lets out a disappointed sigh.

Kioshi has found a new and efficient way to dry meat probably. First, he preheats the oven in his kitchen, and while waiting for the thing to heat up, he marinades strips of deer meat with a few spices fitting for biltong. These strips are then put into the oven with the device's door slightly open to let out moist air, and with only a slightly high temperature, they are left to dry for only four hours. Throughout these four hours, Kioshi is asleep. For a short while.

When the oven goes 'ding', he immediately wakes up and carefully removes the now dried biltong, and he feels delightful that this is his first successful product that he cooked without any help. He puts the strips of biltong onto the sale shelves, visible enough for a few people to look at upon close inspection.

Kioshi happens to have a few bananas lying around in his kitchen, and decides to try to make banana chips. Taking one which is not ripe, he peels off its entire skin and slices it to circular pieces. In a frying pan filled with a bit of oil, Kioshi places the sliced bananas into the pan and attempts to fry it.

Much to his dismay, he realizes that the oil's quantity isn't enough to fry all of the pieces. As a result, several of them are left uncooked. He stops and disposes all of them, then keeps the pan in its respective place before sitting down on the chair, feeling bummed at his mistake.

Wafting through the air came the smell of dried meat and freshly baked bread, beckoning Rithe to approach the <<Revenant's Bush>>. She drifts through the streets to the food cart, coming to the counter. Now that I think about it, doesn't food in this game have beneficial effects, similar to potions? She pondered this while she looked at the menu. "I'd like the..uhh..." She focuses on the word, sounding it out slowly. "Bill-Tong? Is that how you say it?" She goes through the menu to hand the col over, absolutely insisting to pay the full price despite being a level 9. After receiving the snack, she would leave, bowing as she exits.

Kioshi is in the midst of cooking, only to fail as the biscuits' dough ended up becoming too fragile to handle. He sighs, accepting the failure while learning from his mistakes as best as he can. At least the system thankfully grants EXP even if he fails, and the chance of failure would decreases as he climbs up the ranks of being a cook.

He hears the bell ringing at the entrance of his shop, and comes out of the kitchen to see a female player browsing the shop for a while before asking him for biltong. He gives one pack to her. She pays him full price even though she is under level 12, much to her insistence. He accepts it regardless. COL's COL. As he watches the female player leaving the store, he stares at the payment with a small smile on his lips. Guess fate decides to compensate for his constant failures today.

Broken doughs. Sticky doughs. Burnt meat. Unhealthy animal organs. Too much ingredients. The failures keep on piling up, much to Kioshi's dismay as he gradually questions his take on this profession. Can't cook for s*it. Not even a rank up would compensate that. That is right. A window pops up in front of Kioshi's face, telling him that through the little experience points he had gained all along, he somehow managed to rank up to rank 2. And this is mostly thanks to his failures, and rarely, his successes. He shakes his head. This is some kind of sick joke.

He sits on the stool in front of the fireplace, looking forlorn but retaining his blank, old expression. He lets out a quiet sigh, staring at the fire. For the rest of the day without breaks.
