[PP-F9] The return of the duo <<Burning Phoenix Feathers>>

Recommended Posts

He gazes towards his rival as he questions his very sanity of why he has decided that this man specifically would make for a good and true rival to compare his strengths and possibly even wits against in combat and in the trials going forward that this game would present. To trust all of those expectations and statures he would wish to break any limitations his body could be restricted onto a teenager that has these childish moments that he can only hope is just a simple joke that he is wanting to play to satisfy the boredom that he has announced out loud that he is feeling. The feeling of the sweltering heat from the volcano that hey are getting close to hits his body as Mars can feel the heat starting to affect him already just from how powerful it is which he can only wonder if it is the phoenixes or the volcano itself making it this hot. We will find plenty more as long as we have a sense of confidence within ourselves Pin just don't let yourself get distracted while searching otherwise you won't ever find something. he says rather flatly to his rival as his familiar brings back a obsidian rock also and drops it into Piball's bag where he is keeping his collection of this obsidian as the fire liger quickly goes back to its task.

Pinball grabbed the collar of his shirt, pulling it away from his neck, and fanning some air down his clothes. His shirt became completely untucked, white spilling over his black pants. So. HotPinball looked to Mars with a helpless expression. "Dude. It's boily," he complained, stating the obvious. Zomekko yawned, a pure white tongue arcing over shadowy fangs. Her jaw snapped shut as Pinball looked at the ground, craning his neck this way and that. "We just need one more." Pinball saw a suspiciously large lump of dirt and ash. He crouched in front of it, sizing it up curiously. He took a hand and brushed off the layer of sediment that had gathered over it. "Hah! Yes! Finally!~" He plucked the stone from the dirt, wiped it off, and pocketed it. Excited, he whirled around. "Now let's hurry to the mountain!" And without another word, Pinball took off running.

Mars looks towards his rival that is complaining about the heat on the floor as he can only just nod his head in agreement since it is indeed rather hot and can feel the effects of the heat on himself, but as reality has it he is just pushing through it as he makes the mental note to get survival quickly since the over the top temperatures and conditions he can only imagine are getting worse the higher up in the floors that they reach. After the shout of excitement from his rival about finding the item in question that would allow them to complete this quest Mars whistles very sharply and loudly as his familiar quickly returns to his side as the duo of DPS players make there way up the mountain to fight this phoenix that is supposedly there as his rival would claim the quest had mentioned. Hoping deep down in his heart that he isn't just an idiot and remembered the incorrect location and thus had them do this hike and a half to get towards this mountain to fight something that isn't even there.

They hadn't even begun scaling the mountain in earnest before the sky seemed to light. Pinball looked up, only to see embers drifting to the ground. It was then that he heard the hum of wings. He whirled around. Hovering a few feet off the ground flew the phoenix, the flapping of its wings sending embers through the air. It cocked its head, as if it wasn't quite aware that they were here to kill it. Must be passive-aggressive, he thought. He glanced at his hands. I've got no weapon. No armor. He nodded to Mars, then Charged. He was a blur as the skill carried him forward faster and faster, his outstretched arm covered in Zomekko's shadow.

As soon as he got closer enough, the creature's cursor turned a dark crimson, but it was too late. It tried to retreat into the air, but Pinball jumped, Zomekko's aura coating his forearm in shadoww, grabbed the phoenix by its tail, and slammed it into the ground. The bird hit the ground with a loud thud, sending up a cloud of dust. Pinball leapt backwards, pointing at the grounded bird. "Mars! Quick!

He stares at Pinball who once more rushes towards the Phoenix and attack it with just a unarmed strike as he just smacks his face as he just glares at his rival once more with a burning hatred for him and everything that he is doing once more. Seriously Pinball! You have a spear! he yells at him in anger before rushing towards the phoenix going to just attack the creature to try and deal the most amount of damage that he can deal against the creature to make up for Pinball's failure to be useful within this fight. His hands glowing with strength as he rushes up the mountain and jumps towards the phoenix and punches the downed phoenix with his attack knocking away half of its health within a singular strike dealing exactly 50% hp. Why aren't you using your spear!? He demands once more being confused at seeing Pinball not using his spear which he always seemed so proud of using it against every enemy he had fought including his terrible luck when it came to fishing up enemies.

Pinball's mood immediately soured. It was obvious that Mars had touched a nerve, but Pinball gave his old rival no inkling as to why that was. Zomekko's shadowy aura rippled like water, Pinball's forearms bathed in fog. His fists reflexively clenched. He glared back at Mars, shouting his simple response. "Because I don't want to!" With that the Phoenix took flight, shaking its ruffled wings, scattering burning ash where it stood. Pinball took a swipe at it as the bird went airborne, successfully dealing barely any damage, and not affecting its flight in the slightest. He took a few steps back, expecting some sort of follow-up attack, but the Phoenix just stared at Pinball curiously. Pinball glanced over to Mars, then back at the Phoenix. He suddenly felt very bad for having to kill this creature. Or, rather, getting Mars to kill the monster for him. It seemed to him that it was rather passive-aggressive in its behaviour; not the type of monster to search for a fight. Still, it had to be done.

He growls angrily at Pinball as his familiar flares with fire and spits a small plume of flames as he looks towards Pin and just smirks and takes a step back with his hands up into the air while looking towards his rival with a flat plain look. I don't care if you want to Pinball! All of our quests have been evenly split down the middle for what our work and contributions are meant to be! Grinding mobs? The loot is split. Doing quests? usually we share the damage down the middle in terms of effort.  This is a unspoken deal we have Pinball and you better keep your end of the bargain! He yells towards the spear user and just crosses his arms at his chest not doing anything this round not going to allow himself to do all the work for none of the glory that would come with beating this phoenix. Since all he would get is the exp which he could've gotten by himself without Pin's laziness or even at least got some player he has met before like the Pink haired girl Neo something or the other to help him face the Phoenix.  And don't try to say your half was finding the materials since i found half around half of those myself also. He fires off quickly at Pinball before he could try and use that as a defense wondering what even got into his rival to decide to be so useless in this fight and rather easy to beat down in terms of any mob who got a lucky shot. he watches as the mob proceeds to do just that and hit Pinball with an attack as he just smirks at that still not helping Pinball.

With a flap of its wings, the phoenix attacked, sending a volley of pointed, flaming feathers at him. He braced himself, putting his hands up, crossed in front of his face. He grit his teeth as the feathers cut deep, pixelated red cuts opening on his torso, arms, legs, and despite his defensive stance, face. He growled, tears springing to his eyes. "I don't care," he grumbled, then again, increasingly getting louder until his voice was a scream, "I don't care, I don't care, I don't care, I. Don't. Care." Pinball took a step back as the barrage of feathers stopped. The drop in his health was substantial. He touched the cuts on his face. He wasn't used to taking hits. This was new. "You can't make me.Pinball's fists clenched reflexively. Whirling around as the phoenix let loose another volley of feathers, bringing his health down even further. He let them all cut his back, forced to a knee as the power of the attack pushed him forward. He opened his menu on the way down. He glared at Mars. He repeated himself, the words slurred by the heavy feeling of his mouth. "You. Can't. Make. Me." But even then, his hand cautiously hovered over his menu's Inventory button. He glanced to the menu, seemingly only just realizing he had done it. He grimaced, glanced at Mars, dismissed the menu, and stood.

Mars looks over towards Pin and just smirks to himself as he just sits down on the ground as he watches the fiery feathers tear into his rival as not a single sympathetic look comes across his cool cold eyes as he watches this go on. A small chuckle that is unheard over the environment and all that is happening comes out of his mouth as he hears Pinball's repeated words about the situation as this only makes him more intrigued about what could've happened to the kid to abandon his spear entirely. I can't make you? You're correct in that statement but i am certain the fear of death and failure would be enough of a motivator to get you to do your fair share of the work Pinball! He calls over towards the spear wielder with a smile upon his face as he leans back as his hands are behind him to support his weight as he leans back for comfort. His familiar laying right besides Mars just watching the enemy mob attack you seemingly content with doing so also.

He took the hit again. Watched his healthbar plummet. He wasn't used to taking hits like this, and he wasn't comfortable taking hits like this. Pinball was still on his knee. He grit his teeth, punched the dirt, and glared at Mars. "Fine!" With a quick swipe of his hand, his menu was open. The Phoenix flew circles around the two. "Fine, fine, fine, fine, fine." Two clicks, and his weapon was highlighted. Equip, Drop, Delete. Pinball's teeth were grinding as he shot Mars another look. He clicked Equip. In a flash of blue light, his spear grew into his clenched fists. The temperature immediately dropped around the weapon, fighting with the 9th Floor's heat but not mixing. The bluish steel tip seemed to faintly glow. Pinball slammed the wooden shaft into the dirt, using it to pick himself up. His boots slid across the dirt, and he was in a guard - but it was different. Usually his fighting style was fluid and flexible; adapting to the situation at hand, though still reminiscent of a teenage boy who doesn't quite know what he was doing with the weapon he had picked up, but still made it work despite the lack of proper training. As he was now, though, Pinball looked like he didn't care. His heart wasn't in it, but he didn't plan on dying here. "I hate you," he grumbled.

Mars smirk victoriously at seeing Pinball finally take this fight seriously and throw away his stupid childish reasons for not actually fighting against a quest that he knowingly took and wanted to fight against. He watches with a grin on his face while he just sits on the ground to watch the fireworks show that is going to occur with his familiar right by his side who is observing the phoenix and everything it is doing. 'If you wanted to stop fighting then you should've stayed home. You want to fight still obviously since you continue to take quests, but you lost your drive Pinball find it once more or i will just find another person who can keep my interest as a rival.' he thinks to himself while awaiting to see what this lack of a drive will pull out against the phoenix of flame. Wondering if all of Pinball's gusto will be for naught do to not having the will to wield the weapon he holds. He watches the phoenix once more strike Pinball and knocking him below half health as he raises an eyebrow wondering if death shall truly embrace the spear wielder who entered the fight with barely even a half hearted attempt to attack.

He took another hit from the Phoenix's feathers. Red, pixelated gashes completely covered his torso, face, and arms at this points, though the cuts on his legs weren't as obvious. Pinball let them hit. His health, for the first time in a long time, dropped into the yellow, and he was reminded of how fragile he actually was. He never wore armor, and he was paying the price for that. But that's because, he thought, snapping his spear into his hands, I can do thisPinball growled as he charged the Phoenix. "Zomekko!" The cat's shadowy form embraced the icy spear, and the blade of the weapon glowed a hot white.
His spear collided with the Phoenix, an icy wind gushing out from what was probably the tip of his spear. The Phoenix shrieked, steam exploding from the gashes that Pinball's strikes opened. Pinball kept on his assault: stab, slash, stab. With a horrible grimace, Pinball jumped as the Phoenix tried to fly away, bringing his spear down in an ugly swat. The monster was immediately grounded, hitting the ground in a plume of dust, ash, and sparks of flame. The creature writhed on the ground as steam rose from its wounds, the glow of its feathers slowly fading with the cold's embrace.
Eventually the monster shattered, leaving only a single blackened feather on the ground as embers rained from the sky.

Mars looks towards his rival with a smirk as he gets off of the ground and then makes his way towards the black haired spear wielder with a smirk across his face as he crosses the rocky terrain. Walking on slightly unsteady ground as he makes his way over till he is close to his rival and looks at him with a smirk that is hidden by the armor he wears just having this pleased look in his eyes that give the only tale of amusement or a look of satisfaction. Well then looks like you finally got at least some drive to fight against this mob at least when your life was on the line. Glad that your survival instincts aren't dead at the very least, but next time you might want to focus on the fact that you entered a fighting quest knowingly while trying to be lazy. Some might tolerate that but i won't ever Pinball everyone has to do there fair share of the work when they agree to do a quest with another person. he says while staring down his rival with a small nod of his head.

Pinball stared at the blackened feather. The last glows of the feather were practically gone, save for the faint glow beneath the black that spread throughout the item like fiery veins. Pinball let his spear slide to the ground, his hand sliding along the shaft until it reached the end of the weapon, where his hand caught like it was glued. Pinball bent over and picked the feather off the ground as Mars approached, giving it a shake before sliding it into his belt pouch. He turned to Mars, but he barely heard what the guy was saying. For a brief moment, the only thought that was going through his head was Run him through. You can do itPinball shook it off, the shocked expression that followed betraying the stoic expression he had maintained while retrieving his reward. The fact that he had that thought deeply disturbed him. Pinball lifted his hand, the spear returning to its normal position. He used it as a walking stick as he brushed past Mars, picking his way through the rocks and ash of the 9th Floor. "Yeah," he mumbled. "thanks for the help. Catch you later.

he raises an eyebrow at that slightly surprised by the behavior but just grins to himself in the end wondering just how far Pinball is going to try an go with this idea that he can take quests on without actually doing them himself. 'Though that doesn't mean i am any step closer to figuring out what the heck has gotten into him regarding that spear of his. There has to be a reason why he is being totally different did the time away really change him that much?' he thinks to himself but follows his partner since to complete the quest does require the duo to return to the blacksmith and his buddy so that the quest reward can be given out and that way the two can split off to do there own things from there on out. Which for Mars will mean he has to go on another quest and do it himself or with anybody that he meets along the way which could be plentiful or just a weak player that might not even be worth mentioning.

Pinball walked along silently, staring at the weapon in his hands as he stumbled over the rocky terrain. They weren't particularly far from town. They had made it to the base of the mountain when the Phoenix had showed itself; they didn't have to scale it like Pinball had originally thought. After a while of his staring, Pinball balanced it one hand, and opened his menu with the other. In a flash of blue light the weapon was gone, and Pinball buried his hands in his pockets. He happened to glance to the right, noticing something shimmering at the base of a practically dead tree. He stopped, turned, and pointed to Mars. "Yo. Over here." Pinball changed his path, walking off to retrieve the gleaming object. It turned out to be a chest, and as Pinball pulled it from the gnarled tree roots it was ensnared in, the wooden box left a track in the dirt.

He looks towards the silent spear wielder with a raised eyebrow in surprise that he hasn't said anything as of yet which means that would have to be because of himself having pushed Pinball to finally using his spear to make him useful in that fight instead of a bum that expects some kind of special treatment seemingly. he then blinks slightly as he signals over to a chest as he just walks over and  grips part of the chest and then forces it open with his bare hands as he checks what he gets and chuckles softly at seeing a rather good pull from this chest as he just nods his head and pockets the perfect armor for himself quickly while sending the consumables to pinball then half of the mats and col. Knowing that by doing so he is breaking the rule of everything down the middle since the armor is definitely worth more then consumables but he is willing to play dirty for this. That is everything we got it got split down the middle. he says in a cool and calm voice not betraying a single idea that he might be lying.

Pinball shrugged as Mars walked up to the chest. He didn't care. He'd get his share, anyway, and Pinball just wanted to leave. He looked down the dirt road as Mars rifled through the chest's contents. He could see the lights of the main village in the distance. Looking at the sky, the sun was just beginning to rise. Twilight filled the 9th Floor, and combined with the light of lava in the distance it was a weirdly beautiful sight. Pinball looked back to Mars as he stood next to the now empty chest. He offered up what he had, saying that this was what he had found. Pinball nodded, opening his menu with a deep breath. "I guess just send me my half, and I'll finish up at the blacksmith by myself." Pinball let out his pent up breath as he waited for the trade. "Thanks for the help," he said dryly. Pinball's healthbar was still practically half empty, though slowly but surely ticking back up to full by the second.

Mars just nods his head towards the black haired spear user with a smile that is hidden by his armor as he grins victoriously to himself knowing that part of the charm of this outfit it makes it much more easier to fool people since no facial expression are given away that could ruin his lies. Only his eyes that could possibly try to betray his intentions which he always keeps towards a neutral perspective at all times to make it that much more harder to read him. No problem at all Pinball i'm glad that you were able to do your fair share of the work like we always have done. He says towards the spear user in a amused tone of voice to the man with a nod of his head as he makes his way into the main settlement to head towards the teleport gate so that he can head towards the tenth floor to possibly face a more dangerous quest or at the very least destroy groups of enemies to gain some nice loot and other things.

As Mars walked off, Pinball's face twisted with disgust. I think he just reminded me why I didn't like him. Pinball waited for Mars to disappear on the horizon before pushing himself away from the tree he was leaning on and beginning his own walk. He shook his head, turning over his last words with the man over in his head. Should have just punched him. He reflexively grasped at the spear that wasn't in his hands. Stifling a disgusted sigh, he shuffled down the road, dragging his feet. It's pretty out. Pinball's eyes were drawn to the red and charred climate around him, and how strangely beautiful it looked in the twilight. Slowly, his disgust for Mars evaporated, leaving a much calmer, more collected mind. He was letting his emotions get to him much too easily as of late. They were controlling him. Pinball knew this; he even warned people to avoid this for themselves, but it seemed he couldn't follow his own advice. He always made horrible decisions when he let that happen. So why? Maybe you just like the thrill. He suddenly felt sick to his stomach.
