That'd be an uneccessary loss, when his health wasn't in any immediate danger - it was regenerating even as he thought about it. Individually, the Cave Goblins didn't really pack much of a punch. But he knew from personal experience that when monsters on this floor grouped up on him to attack, especially given the fact he didn't wear any type of protective armor... it was pretty damn dangerous. But who cares? That's why he did it, right? Pinball's expression went sour as he took a seat, laying his staff across his lap. Yeah, that's why he did it. He didn't want to think about it. Not right now. He glanced again at Neo, but then turned his attention back to the ground in front of him, amusing himself and passing the time by watching his health slowly crawl back to its fullest capacity. He also didn't seem to want to recognize Neo's position. That was fine by her, it meant she didn't really have to worry about him attacking her. She just hoped he would trust her to actually come in and help him in case one of the goblins got away from him. It didn't matter to her whether or not he was orange. It was curious he was wanted, but she didn't really mind it. There was probably a reason for it and if they wanted him captured enough it would happen eventually. Probably the moment that he slipped up and gave the front liners a chance to catch him. It didn't matter if she gave her intel. All she could let them know was if he had changed up his style, which he hadn't by much. He was still refusing to protect himself and was using his spear. Pinball 1 Posted January 9, 2019 Author #23 Report Share Posted January 9, 2019 He hadn't been sitting for very long, but he grabbed his staff, and used it to help push himself to his feet. He had to keep fighting, and with the last bits of health and energy filling up in their bars (the energy moreso than the health, but neither were really in bad places), it was about time to keep going. His general uneasiness, he felt, was beginning to subside. Again, it hadn't been long, but fighting made it feel like time passed slower than it did, and with that time passing he gradually started to warm up to Neo's presence. Sort of. Not really. But! He wasn't glaring anymore, and he couldn't feel her stare on the back of his neck anymore, so that was a start. He shook his head, mostly to himself, eyeing the next group of goblins in the distance. They were gonna get it in a second. Pinball pushed himself into a running stance, his staff tightly wrapped in his hands. HP: +20 EN Rec: 3/3 Complete! Link to post Share on other sites

No point letting the monsters see what reinforcements their adversary may have. Not that it would matter, but she was finding it a bit more enjoyable than before to watch a monster die in front of her with surprise on their face. It was strange to find herself enjoying it so much, but perhaps that was another effect of the parasol she wielded now. Or perhaps it was just something she had finally found to enjoy. It felt sickening thinking about it now, but it still sent a chill down her spine. I really need to figure out what this parasol is capable of. I don't think it is limited to shriveling things up in combat like the demon inside that priest did. Perhaps it is the wayu to influence another through these realms. After the brief rest, serving as a nice little respite in-between battles was over, and with his energy and health both to their fullest capacities, he was ready, too. Pinball closed the distance in an instant, his Charge skill amplifying his speed for a moment to an unholy peak, his staff colliding with the cave goblins' small forms with a sound akin to a thunderclap. Each one of them hit the ground with each successful hit, stunned and immobile. Pinball took a step back, admiring his handiwork- two more hits for each of them and they'd be dead. But they were already shaking off the paralysis now, and he knew they weren't going to make it that easy. He glanced to Neo, but she was nowhere to be seen. That familiar discomfort with her vanishing had already begun to subside, and now it was kind of reaching an all time low. Pinball suppressed the urge to shrug, and turned back to his enemies. Neopolitan 0 Posted January 12, 2019 #26 Report Share Posted January 12, 2019 There was little for Neo to do now besides sit here and watch. Pinball seemed to be able to handle the mobs quite well. And though her weapon seemed to want her to try to kill him, Neo was suppressing those urges. It was still interesting to be having it pushing her so far down this rabbit hole while also causing her to be further and further from everybody. Perhaps the weapon just wanted to isolate her from, everyone in her life. That had already been attempted though, and she had come back stronger than ever from it. No sorrow had yet managed to push her down so far that she couldn't rise from it. Assuming she had a few years to recoup herself from the emotional cost of that pain. Or perhaps we could be together. Sorry, already have someone in my life blade. But we could be so much better. You don't even give a bonus if I somehow married you. He lashed out at the Cave Goblins for a second time, his staff (or spear, technically speaking) smacking each of the humanoid figures true in quick succession. It was in that small frame of time after a Sword Art is finished, and an avatar is momentarily frozen in place, that the Cave Goblins pounced. Though Pinball managed to reel back and dodge two of them, the others jumped, their rusty, jagged daggers boring into his back and chest respectively. Pinball, after some angry grunts and wild grabbing, managed to hurl the pasty grey figures off of him. "God," he grumbled. He glanced behind him, trying to see if the girl had revealed herself. But he didn't let his gaze linger long before returning his attention to the monsters in front of him. He retrieved the bo staff that had he had had to drop when grappling the monsters. It seemed though that his recklessness was beginning to get the better of him. A couple of the goblins were lucky enough to land their own hits against the wily boy, and his health dropped a fair amount for it. He certainly wasn't going to be much of a threat if her blade truly wanted him dead. Not that she herself wanted pinball dead. Even if he was wanted, there was no reason to just kill him for that. An orange cursor could mean all manner of results. Though the most common was for killing a player in cold blood, it was entirely possible to have obtained an orange cursor if they believed it was a preemptive self defense. It still meant that something happened though, and Neo was indeed curious as to what had happened. @Pinball Link to post Share on other sites

It was almost enjoyable, really, seeing the look in their eyes as they, surprised, were stomped to death by the boy and his weapon. One by one they fell, their pixels turning into bits of money and items for later. Once they were all dead, he looked out at nothing. Somewhere the girl was lurking, and somewhere he was sure that she was watching. He planted his staff in the dirt, then let it fall as he stepped forward. Something about that small rush of enjoyment had disturbed him. "Hey," he called out to the cavern. "I think I'm done. I'll split this crap with you. You can take your pick of whatever. But, uhh, I'm done for now." With that he began counting up the rewards, preparing to divvy them up however the girl fancied. He had made quite a lot - if it had been by himself. With the girl here, and his offer to let her take whatever she wanted... he shrugged. He just kind of wanted to get out of here right now.
