[BR-F24] 'Sahagin Shenanigans' [Labyrinth Boss]

Recommended Posts

The chieftain was not surprised at this final groups tenacity. Of all of these filthy humans to attacked him today, they stood the greatest chance of defeating him. That chance was still insignificant, but it was the greatest. As he was being called out by the members attempting to attack him, the chieftain chuckled. "There is a legend amongst my people. It speaks of a young boy who was shunned for how ugly he was. But as that boy grew up, he became the fiercest warrior known amongst his kind. His Goddess granted him with near eternal life in exchange for one deed. To exterminate all of the land walkers!" He swung his giant axe through the crowd of players, once more connecting with all but one of them. The red on his scales sealed up as more water surrounded him. These humans thought they could do enough to take him on, but they were so very wrong. There was nothing that they could do to stop the power of the whorleater.  "May you scald in the depths of the sea. You were not worthy to even challenge me."

So Ruby and Hestia was gone now. Had used their tp crystals. She giggled inside her head. She ahd never since she arrived in Aincrad, used a tp crystal. So she haven’t bother to even bring one during the last two thirds of her boss fights. Though today she should have done that. This retreat system was harder then she rembered it was back when she was lower level. But it wasn’t really nothing to do against it. She started to take a step back and this time it felt different. It wasn’t anything that blocked her movements. She had an opening now. A smile on her face as she turned towards the guardian one last time. ‘’Singing chieftain or how your name is spelled, I bet you want be able to catch me now.’’ She said as she removed her mouthguard. She strectched out her tongue and pulled below her eye with her finger. A few seconds later she was gone.

The chieftain could see that the berzerker was already looking to run away. It was a dissappointment that she got away so easily, but nonetheless he would press on. There was more people for him to kill, more lands for him to conquer in her name. TUrning towards the last remaining group, he began his own extamporaneous ragaling of his conquests. "I have spent years conquering land after land, ridding them of the plague that is you landwalkers. There is no place you can hide from me, no place where you cannot go that I will one day find and kill you. So come, meet your destiny! There is no need to be shy. We can all accept that it is your turn to die." His shaman stood back in awe of its leader, knowing full well this was the person who would be conquering the lands in the name of the whorleater. There would be nothing to stop them from defeating all of these filthy creatures.

They were all that was left now.  Zandra had ran, Hestia and Ruby teleported away, which left the 'heroes' to play their part and finish this fight.  With the back and forth, the hunter only had to pay attention to what he hit last.  Since Hirru hit the chieftain last, he should switch off to attack the shaman and stun them to the ground.  That was his strategy for this fight, though he would have to think about slowing his reps.  It could be possible that he may not be able to stun every time.  He needed to be careful of the order, and watch what orders come next.  Hirru had to believe in his friends.

His health was below half and nearly in the red, he heard Shield call out to him.  He could only grit his teeth and nod.  They all had each others backs.  Hirru needed to keep his end of that trust.

Figuring that this was the end-game, the hunter pulled out all the stops.  They were going to finish this in style.  Flying outwards towards the shaman, Hirru would leap into the air before smashing downward against the fishman's skull.  A series of cuts would then scrawl across the four limbs of the creature before falling back.  Each slash would shine before binding the creature in place.

"That'll hold ya!"

Passive [+1 EN] Battle Healing [+96 HP] Holy Blessing [+48 HP] - Cool Downs: Sharpness [1/1]

Action: First Aid > Hirru [Shield: -10 EN, Hirru: +213 HP]

"Heads up, Hirru," Shield called, out dashing to the side of the hunter and tapping his elbow with the flat of his blade. The health gauge that surrounded Hirru's body ticked back up into the green, putting the remaining players all safely above half health. "I'm sorry, big guy," he said, turning his attention back to the chieftain. "That was a little messy with so many players trying to make sense of the chaos there. Thank you for your patience,"  he said, glancing to Beat and Baldur in turn. "Now we can properly start this fight." It was not ideal that the others should need to retreat.

Hell, if they managed to come back in a single party with proper coordination, that would work quite nicely. We need to end this quickly though, so we'll have to see if they make it back.

"Now," he went on, gesturing to Beat and Baldur. "It's up to you. Would you prefer to be roasted on the spit or filleted? I mean, we're more than happy to do both, but I was just curious which you're more excited about." It was usually not in his nature to get snarky with players, but the mobs were open season for venting his frustrations, and with the boss now at the mercy of a single coordinated attack, he didn't mind taking a moment to do so. He turned his head towards his team. "I'm going to need to split between healing and buffing, but just keep the chatter going, guys. If you need something, shout!"

"We're cutting it damn close." Baldur said with a glance at his energy gauge. Without the exact numbers available, and without spending too much time trying to read it versus the fight, Baldur couldn't tell, but it looked like he had just enough energy left to finish this fight.

"We've got no room for errors anymore."

Stepping into the frey, Baldur waited for his opening, and when Zandra fell back, the forlorn chief of the fish people watching her go, provided Baldur his opportunity to activate the <<San Ge>> katana sword art, slashing heavily into the boss. It's new mitigation definitely made things challenging, but now that they were wide open, and not sharing the bridge battleground with 3 other people, they had more room to work and get their attacks off faster.

"Let's do this Beat!"

Beat grinned as he watched Hirru successfully stun the shaman, "Nice Hirru!" he shouted, readying his spear and waiting for the rest of the party members to go. With his precision being the highest, it made sense for him to wait until everyone else had gone in case someone failed to execute a crucial part of the strategy. For now, the plan was simple and Beat had no trouble following behind Baldur.

"Alright! Let's bring this home!" He said as he ran forward, his spear charging with swordart energy as he eyed his own energy bar. He was doing alright, but they would need to play the next few moments perfectly in order to ensure their success. He delivered his attack with less accuracy than he had hoped, but despite a slight stumble, he managed to keep pace with the chieftain and sink his strongest swordart into it's side, peppering it with red, pixelated wounds.

Two more shots barring energy from Shield...okay, this is doable.

As the chieftain watched the players try in vain to take him down he noticed his shaman get stunned by binding rays of light. He was not concerned though. These players were growing weak and weary of their long fight. It was time for him to finish them, but perhaps first of mite more toying with them. "You are no match for the worleater's powe. Nay, you are barely a match for my own. And you do not deserve to be trespassers upon this land and therefore you shall be cast out." With those words the chieftain swung his axe towards the shield user, knocking him as best as he could into the ground. He knew that it would be futile to take him down, but he was not quite ready for his finishing touches. "The wrath of the whorleater is not one to be taken lightly. A wave will be soon crashing upon your kind. A wave that will be the end of your foray into this land."

With the shaman stunned, they had a moment to breath, though only for a little.  Their next actions would decide everything.  The hunter had stunned the shaman, but now what?  They couldn't hold it down for long.  Baldur and Beat were looking worn out, and wouldn't be able to last much longer.  It's about time for that 'final gambit', or whatever Baldur was planning.  It was only really in quick whispers as they passed, so the plan wasn't fully explained to him.  All that Hirru understood was to continue trading damage to stunning, until a time where the shaman was weak enough.  It was weak enough now, so...

"Let's do this!"

He called out while reading himself against the chieftain.  However, nothing came of it.  His sword art didn't go off as it should have, and he was thrown back without any way of coming back from it.

"Damn!"

Beat's eyes scanned his party's health and energy bars and then did the same to the shaman and the chieftain. He knew the heal ability was up, but they would not be able to stun the shaman. If they wanted another crucial turn of reprieve from the shaman's healing power, the shaman would need to die, immediately. He nodded in affirmation of his plan as he eyed the smaller fish humanoid as he spoke to his party.

"Alright, I'm killing the shaman. We miss out on hitting the chieftain, but he won't be healed for another turn."

With his plan in out in the open, Beat charged forward, cutting his remaining energy in half as he infused it into his assault spear. With a grunt of effort, he unleashed his strongest sword art into the poor fish shaman, his charge skill adding to the impact. Given what he had seen before, the shaman was well within kill range of a single target attack. His attack landed true and he covered the shaman in digital wounds as its health bar dropped.

They wee getting down to the last of it. Both the Chieftain's health and the DPS' energy stores were dropping down to their last reserves. Unfortunatey, despite the plans that Baldur and the others had laid, they were running out of time. And with Hirru's missed attack, they were about out of chances.

If we're going to stretch, then we need to stall that summon. Hirru has the right idea, but...

Glancing own at the thin, unenhanced blade in his hand, Shield frowned.

I'm the wrong person to be puicking up that ball we keep dropping.

With a shrug, Shield charged up the sword art that he needed to do the trick. He sprang to his feet and charged, focusing his eyes on the frame of his target, but something in his approach was wrong. He stepped off with the wrong foot, and as he stepped to regain his rhythm, the light faded from his blade. He sprang back, raising his shield to resume his defenses. "We can't focus on defense anymore. We started our fight too far behind to have that luxury now. Hirru, if you're too low, and I don't have a heal ready, TP out. This fight isn't worth your life. Everyone else, we need to hit as hard as we can as fast as we can! I'll try to pump up your energy stores as best I can."

It was time. They had been building to this moment as soon as the other parties had fallen back. They had been dancing on a razors edge. No one could miss, or the delicate balance they were navigating between success and failure would fall. They had managed to stun the shaman and prevent the heal, then Beat would strike down the Shaman, and Baldur watched as the Ace DPS did just that. At the same time, Hirru would strike at the boss to stun him, preventing the boss from being able to summon his reinforcements.

But Hirru missed. Shield, quick to try and recover the strategy, did something Baldur had never seen before. He used a rapier sword art.

Unfortunately, that also would not land.

Having to adjust on the fly, Baldur flipped his sword around, prepared to use his <<Iai>> strike to damage the boss and stun him. He would take a substantial hit to his damage, especially since Sharpen had fallen off, but the more important thing we getting a little extra damage on the boss as long as he hit, their margin of success was over 90% based on Baldur's gut instinct.

The <<Muramasa>> glowed its violent red, and Baldur shot forward against the Chieftain, but his strike met the Chieftain's axe, rebounding from him with equal force and throwing Baldur back to where he started

"Kuso!" Baldur swore.

That was it. They had danced on the razor's edge and lost.

"Our only chance is to go full out! Whatever can be done to get extra damage on the boss!"

The chieftain smiled as the group tried in vain to slow down his assault. The shaman that remained with him was extremely battered, but was still around long enough so as to get its healing powers of water towards him. It was rejuvenating as always, and the chieftain took a moment to excuse the shaman from his service. It was not going to be long for this world before it would be gone. But what he had been doing was of a great service towards their queen. There was no shame in dying now. "You foolish humans. Thinking you can mess with power beyond your imagination. You will all fall for your treachery. Your mere existence is an insult towards hers. And for that, I do not wish you to be on this land any longer." With that, the chieftain swung his axe and sent the swordsman who attacked the shaman sailing into another of their party. It no longer mattered how they died, it was true enough that they would all die eventually. Perhaps not here, but soon they would be free of these wretched beings.

Beat watched the the shaman's health bar stopped just short of being depleted, allowing the extremely fortunate minion to do what he did best: support his chieftain. Beat didn't have to assess the situation for very long to come to his next conclusion. It was a situation he had never been in before despite the number of adventures he and Shield had been in. He would have to run from a fight.

"Welp, it looks like you win this one fish face. I wish I could say you earned it, but this one was on the frontlines, all the way." He said as he wagged a finger at the labyrinth boss with a defiant grin, "We'll be back and, barring a second helping of egos and poor planning, we'll definitely win."

He shouldered his weapon as his fingers danced through the air, summoning the blue crystal that would teleport him to safety. He looked to his party members with a sheepish expression, "Looks like we get to run away to fight another day, see you guys next time."

The blue crystal glowed as he shouted his destination while making a particularly rude hand gesture towards the chieftain, "Tomoika!" Beat disappeared in a small pillar of blue light as he was whisked away to the twenty-first floor where his home and business resided.

After all of their attacks had been blocked or missed, and the Shaman remained alive with a fraction of health left so small that it could barely be seen, Baldur resigned himself to defeat. He had enough energy left for only one sword art, but that wasn't going to do any good for them. They had been stretched out too thin for too long. Baldur silently cursed inaction, pride, and whatever the word was for the opposite of teamwork. Discord.

"We had our chance, but it wasn't in the cards. Fall back everyone."

Everyone on his team had teleport crystals, so it would be a simple and easy extraction, but his faith in people, and optimism about the frontline had been dealt a critical blow. They needed to fix this. They needed to somehow get people to work together. The question was how.

Whirling his sword around, Baldur sheathed it. Giving one last glance at the boss' health bar. The NPC was incapable of taunting him, as Baldur gave scripted dialogue by an AI no value, and the creature posed no threat to the Samurai. Still, this was the first threat Baldur had run from since he fought wolves on the first floor. It left a bitter taste in his mouth.

"Panareze." He said, holding up the crystal, and he too, disappeared in a flash of light.

"I'm not leaving an unprotected player in a boss raid!" Shield called to the air, watching as Beat and Baldur both evaporated. Cursing under his breath, he called out to Hirru. "Get out of here! I'll draw their focus until you're safely out!"

He set himself down in his stance, bending his knees and cocking his elbow, focusing the remaining shaman at the tip of his narrow blade. "I know I don't have accuracy worth anything, but I'm not gonna hand you the chance to drop my focus and target our wounded players." He put a hitch in his step and hurtled forward, the tip of his blade beginning to shine with his activated sword art. The wily fish beast was ready for him though, having been tempered by the actual offensive players in the fight. It sidestepped his attack without a second though, and Shield slammed his foot down to stop his motion, skidding to a halt between the two fish creatures. "Come on then!" he bellowed, glaring at the weaker of the two. "Hit me!"

It seemed that they had truly failed this one.  All of their actions in this fight were for nothing.  This would really beat the hunter over the head.  If only he was stronger, they wouldn't be in this predicament.  If he could be like Baldur and Beat, they wouldn't have to run.  He had enough energy to continue, but for what?  He couldn't break through that armor.  If he were truly prepared then.. They wouldn't have to..

Before he could collect his thoughts, Beat teleported away.  Hirru clenched his sword hand hard around the handle of his sword.  The bosses words were seeming to get to him, but as Baldur's call to fall back came, he remembered that these beings were all fake.  He couldn't really understand how they were fake, but he would believe his friends.  Taking out a crystal, the hunter looked back to find that Shield had rammed against shaman, finally killing it.

"Guess that gives us a breather.   I'll see you back at the arena!"

Hirru shouted to Shield before crushing the crystal.

"Panareze!"

He mimicked.  A blue light would envelop him, but before he did, he looked down at his sword.

'I'm gonna need a bigger sword'

Hirru leaves the fight

The chieftain's grin widened as soon all but one other person remained to stay and let the others get away. "You aree brave enough, I'll do my best to say your woes in your disgusting tongue. Your friends have abandoned you and will not get to hear your swan song. None shall hear your cries, not even the valkyries that have failed to come to your aid. None can stop me, all will run. That or you will die before my hand. And if it is not my hand, than it shall be another of the whorleater's champions. We will destroy your kind and be free of your existence upon this wretched land!" With his final exclamation, he swung his axe towards the tank. It didn't do much damage, but he was now independent of any aid. He would have to eventually fall. Whether it was from tiring out or from being in a hopeless situation. The time would come that he would end it all eventually.

Running near the battle scene i see that it is only shield left facing off against the chieftan meaning that everyone else most likely ran out of energy must faster than any of us could've seemingly predicted, but at the very least either by accident or by him just doing as i asked and trying to stall this out he waited for us to show up. Come on team it is time to put this chieftan in his place. I say with a smile upon my face as i quickly rush forward and quickly get into the beginning fighting as i do the only thing that i can as of this moment. Come on chief you couldn't kill me last time and you couldn't kill shield! You are all bark and no bite you pathetic fish try to change my mind! I shout towards the creature as i activate focused howl upon the chieftan as i slam the pommel of Riptide against the gorgon shield as i grin before shouting quickly. Zandra, Ruby, Neo! It's time to go all out! I say as my familiar lands right beside me ready to defend against the chieftan with claw and teeth like i am with sword and shield. Moving forward into the battle closer passing by the tank i just give a thankful look and a nod of my head. Sorry bout' that. We can handle it from here, but feel free to get your group once more and rush back in like we did. We can easily do cycle charges against this thing if need be. I say quickly towards the tank as i pass by him to get within the chief's melee range.

Zandras heart was started to beat faster, she could almost feel the strong virtual muscel hit against her ribcage. Her breathing started to get heavier as well. Though not of excaustment, but of excitement. She would show him her true nature. And he would regret the words he had throewd at her. It was time for revenge. Her axe would taste blood again, but this time she wasn’t alone. That shaman healing would be easily countered now. A smile grew on her lips. ‘’Haha, dags för hämnd. Jag ska minsan lära dig en läxa.’’ She said out loud in her own language with a laugh. Then she looked at the others. ’’You are right Hestia. Time to finish off what we started.’’

As Hestia pulled its attention to her with a howl, Zandra didn’t wasted any time to. Her axe had already started shining as her sword art charged up. With rush that left a cloud of smoke behind her, she charged the guardian. As she got in close, the sword art activated. The familiar black mist surrounded her blade as she cleaved thru the guardians flesh, leaving long red stripes on his body. ‘’HAHA! What do you say now clown fish? Where is your whor* eater now?’’ the black smoke left her weapon and flowed into the labyrinth guardian, made him suffer and made Zandra deal 50% more damage to him. Then she looked at the only player from party three that was still standing. ‘’Hi Shield. Its nice to see you are still alive. Not that I expected anything else though.’’
