[F24-PP] Gladitorial Combat <<Raging Rhino>>

Recommended Posts

Arriving upon the twenty fourth floor he looks around the rather new floor that from what he has been told supposedly some big shots of the frontliners went to the first floor as a group which means that the labyrinth had been found. Which means it is only a matter of time before they take their charge towards the labyrinth and try to advance to the next floor whatever that it may be, and to not come back to this floor for anything since the new floor will have better grinding spots most likely. 'Thoughts for later.' he thinks to himself as he opens up a menu and selects a singular name and sends a singular message towards his spear wielding ally to try and once more get things actually moving. Once he has completed the message he would make his way towards the quest's beginning destination the coliseum within the main settlement as he would take a seat down in one of the chairs around the outside of the massive structure. His fingers drumming lightly against the table as his familiar heels at his feet while puffing out flames as Mars as always is wearing hsi black combat gear with the only color difference in it being the red fabric that hangs off his right shoulder like a cape that a general or king would wear in movies during the ancient times in history.

Spoiler

@Pinball twenty fourth floor if you can get here. If i don't get a reply within the hour i'll assume you are jailed and will proceed to get you out of it.

If the message had been sent a second later, he wouldn't have gotten it. Pinball woke with a jolt, finding himself lying in a field of grass, flat on his back. It took him a second to remember where he was, and when he did, he frowned. Pinball forced himself to his feet. He couldn't just fall down here. He rubbed the sleepiness from his eyes and read the message. And without really processing it fully, he started on his way to the meeting place, eating as he did.

Pinball trudged to Mars, sword at his waist. Put plainly, the teenager looked like death. His hair was even more unkempt than usual, his shirt was loose and crooked, the leather pads on his arms and chest and legs were slanted at an angle, Zomekko hung loose from his belt... it looked like he had just crawled out of a ditch. And that wasn't far from the truth. The lazy, far-off look in his eyes just screamed "tired", and he had this sporadic, whole-body twitch. It didn't look like he was having a good time, to say the least.

Pinball acknowledged Mars with a grunt before slumping against the wall next to him, closing his eyes.

Just for a second...

He looks towards his rivals and can see the plain and simple look of death across his face as if he had crawled out of some grave when he would arrive as a sigh of irritation escaping his lips at the pathetic sight. Gazing at the mind he runs through different variations of what he could try and do to get his rival back in being energetic as usual instead of this walking corpse before him, and than subsequently trying to figure out what brought him into such a state to begin with. 'I offered him a place at my shop, so he doesn't need to be slepeing outside so that shouldn't be an issue.' he thinks calmly to himself as he would rise to his feet from the his chair and snap his fingers as his linger quickly follows the black clothed man. Pinball it's nice to see you, but you have had better days. Feel like telling me what has happened since last we had talked? He asks his rival calmly while looking right at him and waits patiently while not breaking any eye contact from his rival while waiting to see if the walking corpse would even talk to him.

"I'm rubbery," he murmured, his eyes still shut.

Then he shook himself awake.

"Nice to see you," he corrected, busying himself with making sure the leather cord that held Zomekko's jar was tight around his belt - and twitching violently once while he did. "No, it's alright. I'm fine..." His voice trailed off, almost everything he had said up until now being some kind of mumble. "Let's just hurry," he said softly, "I'm probably not supposed to be hanging out around here." He pat his sword, then stopped. He had ordered a bunch of crap from Neo. Should he share? It wasn't as yummy as his desserts...

"Here," he grunted, dropping a bunch of food stuff in Mars' arms. "Eat this." He lifted an arm and flexed, and winked lazily, a slight smile tugging on one corner of his lips. "Protein. Builds muscle." Then he turned, took a seat, and tried his best not to nod off. "Let's hurry it up," he yawned, already failing at his task.

Looking at the clearly disoriented spear user he just raises an eyebrow at his rather strange antics and can't help but wonder if he should reconsider who he invites for quests if this is the current physical state of his rival. Pinball i know that this game gives you quite a bit of leeway for combat, but you should be trying to get much better care for your person. I offered you my shop for a place to sleep peacefully. You should take it if you look this much like absolute crap. He says towards his rival but takes the offered food and quickly eats it without much hesitation and just waits to see if during combat the food will actually take effect. Taking out his katana to prepare for what he has in mind he just looks towards his rival and just smirks as his smile only reaches the left side of his face as a confident look just quickly appears on him. Now than to deal with this trivial quest. We'll be doing one within coliseum. We'll be fighting a monster or a few and than the quest is over. I'd recommend using your spear since this is a new quest and thus could be even stronger than that quest on floor twenty one that i heard about.

A place to sleep? At Mars' house? He hadn't forgotten about that, but after he escaped, he- he had stopped visiting. It wasn't that he didn't want to sleep, though. He did. But he didn't want to take the chance of roping Mars into his own crap, and sleeping in his shop was probably doing just that. He shook his head and shrugged, dismissing the topic. And every time he closed his eyes, the nightmares got worse. After Calming the Soul, he...

Pinball suppressed a shudder and acknowledged Mars' explanation of the quest.

"Well, let's get a move on then," he coughed. Pinball switched out his sword for his spear and walked into the coliseum. And the crowd roared in anticipation, shouting their praise for the two brave adventurers that dared challenge the Raging Rhino. Pinball kicked up sand at his feet as he strut forward with a false confidence, mimicking Mars' personality in the way he moved and smirked at the crowd. He was here to put on a show, after all, and nobody wanted to watch a skinny, meek teenager fight a monster.

Cockiness was entertaining.

Glancing toward his partner as the duo enters the coliseum he just casts him a disbelieving look within his eyes a almost silent challenge to tell him this isn't over as he gazes forward as they enter the arena. His sword resting in one hand with quite a bit of effort on his part in all honesty due to the simulated wait the game is trying to force upon the weapon to make him wield it with both hands. Gazing among the ground and seeing the NPCs cheer upon their entrance for what is going to be some kind of fight against a rhino he just lets out a short chuckle as he just soaks in the roars from the crowd for the battle ahead. A rather satisfied smirk gracing his face as his familiar lets out a aura of flames ready for the fight also it seems as Mars lets out a rather happy sounding sigh before focusing ahead and begins holding the blade in both hands like the game requires. This..this is the feeling of a king. He says softly more so to himself with a grin as his legs bend slightly ready to kick off of the ground at a moment's notice. Pin you'll start the fight with your stunning charge attack. Who knows maybe we'll get lucky and you'll freeze the beast first try. He says with a just a smirk and look of arrogance and confidence for the proceeding battle in front of them.

The sound of metal slowly grinding as the gate on the other end of the arena from where they entered is opened and is soon followed by thundering foot falls as a rhino bursts out from the other end with glowing red eyes and matching crystal charging right towards the duo.

On Mars' mark, Pinball rushed forward to meet the Rhino. He lowered his spear as he charged through the sand, kicking up a cloud of dust and a wave of cheers from the croud. Steam seemed to billow from the monster's nostrils, but Pinball didn't let that intimidate him. He had fought worse before. Hadn't he fought a snowman with Mars, once? He had fished it out of a river...

The Rhino was running straight at him with no real intent to stop. Its goal was to tear a hole in his chest, and Pinball knew that. He grinned, but just a bit. Pinball met his charge head-on, and they got closer... and closer... and closer.

Until!

Just seconds before they would collide, Pinball threw himself into a flip over Pee-a-shawn. Now, the main advantage the spear had over other weapons was its reach. And Pinball took advantage of this, unleasing a flurry of slashes and stabs as he soared over the Raging Rhino all before hitting the ground. He hit his feet, smirking, tired blue eyes confidently meeting the monster's furious red as it whirled around with an angry snort.

Seeing the charging rhino still make his way towards him he just grins and stands perfectly still with his blade in hand as the light blue aura of a sword art charges forward. With a nod of his head watching the beast topple into the ground and slide right along it as the stun takes affect, and as if with practices coordination between the two gladiators of himself and Pinball he slashes twice along its head. Taking a quick sidestep as the momentum of the beast carries it forward eve so slightly more he quickly carves into its side with a flurry of blade as each strike leaves large red gashes that slowly close. It's health depleting down into the yellow zone as the beast slowly rises towards its feet as the grinning katana wielder stays right next to it with a smirk across his face. To challenge the beast in trying to hit him in time, and to make this fight some kind of dramatic for the audience members since while they may be NPCs he will at least try to live up to the fact this is all just a show. A simple game to display his power as being above this simple little beast.

Man, this thing was weak. Pinball almost felt a bit disappointed. As the beast hit the ground, sliding across the hot sand, a roar raised up from the crowd. He watched as Mars took a step back. Already, the thing was knocked on its ass? Pinball sighed. He had thought monsters on the higher floors were supposed to be a lot sturdier than this. He shook his head, and walked over to Mars as Pee-your-pants slowly struggled to its feet. He acknowledged his companion - his friend? - with a small nod, and immediately threw himself into another attack.

Stab, stab, stab, slam! A flurry of blows followed, a cold spear digging into the Raging Rhino's flesh, cutting through its hide like it was nothing more than a thin blanket. Pinball finished his attack with Dimension Stampede's signature downward slam, sending the monster back into the dirt. Where it belonged. "Stay down," he grumbled, tired blue eyes glaring at the momentarily helpless monster. The Rhino let out a small squeak; much like its health, the wrath was draining from its formerly prideful call. Pinball turned around and walked a few feet away, giving Mars some room to work.

Looking towards the rhino he sees the beast once more charging towards pinball initially as the katana using man quickly charges up his same sword art once more as the blade glows blue once more as he charges forward and quickly slices into the beast. Doing 10 slices along the creatures as he dances around the creature while doing so to keep its attention while dancing around the horn attacks at him. When finished he backs away from the creature as it is on its last legs as he chuckles softly at this and sheathes his sword within its scabbard and glances towards Pinball and gives him a nod of his head while gesturing towards the Rhino. He is all yours my rival take the head of this creature since it should be rather easy. he says in a calm tone of voice and than just waits to see the beast be killed.

At this point, the creature's health was so low, he wasn't sure if it deserved the title of "Raging" anymore. It was shaky and slow, and though its snorts were filled with anger, there wasn't much backing it up anymore. Pinball tilted his head to the side, leaning against his spear at the Rhino's pathetic attempt to charge at him. The reality of it was that Piasuhon was too weak to properly run. It stumbled forward on shaky limbs,  its horns lowered but easily avoidable. Pinball easily took a step to the side, avoiding its attack, and slammed the shaft of his spear across the rhino's front legs. It was sent barreling forward, face-first into the sand, where it remained. Pinball walked up to it, his spear dragging a line through the ground as he held it limply in one hand. It was kind of sad, really. Even a tired and mentally drained Pinball still felt some... unidentifiable type of emotion tugging on his heart. The once proud, powerful beast reduced to this? Even though he was fully aware they were just strings of ones and zeroes, Pinball had always felt kind of bad when it came to fighting seemingly peaceful and innocent creatures.

The difference now was that Pinball saw it as a mercy kill, and he followed through with that decision without hesitation.

He glances around as the shouts of cheers of their victorious gladiators in killing their supposed strongest beasts rings out around the ring as he just looks at them all with a bored expression at hearing that this rhino was somehow something to fear and worry about. Entirely predictable, easy to dodge with just simple side steps. This was the most pathetic display of a creature that i have ever seen, and i've faced snowmen faced out of a ice river. He says towards Pinball with a side glance towards him when speaking about that particular interesting fight time of just grinding up some mobs for loot and money back when they felt like doing that type of thing. You know Pinball this is a arena filled with people. If we ever wanted a opportunity to try and have a audience for one of our duels this would make for a rather good location don't you think? he asks his rival with a curious look and a amused smirk across his face when saying that. The man that seemingly thrived off the environment of the cheers and praise in the beginning seemingly now ignoring the crowd and just talking to Pinball.

Pinball snorted at the mention of the snowmen. So it had happened. He remembered now. For some reason, he thought he had only been dreaming. He shrugged, kicking up a cloud of sand, ignoring for the most part the roaring of the crowd. Were they supposed to leave now? It seemed a little bit anticlimactic, but it was just a programmed instance when all was said and done. Still, it seemed like a waste of potential. No more monsters? Just the one wimpy rhino?

"That's true," he agreed. The fight had done nothing to help his tiredness, and it seemed like he was going to fall over as they spoke. But by some miracle, he didn't. The idea of a gladiator ring was as interesting as it was inhumane. Pinball let his eyes close for a second and hummed. "Hmm," he agreed, nodding slowly, "you're probably right..." Maybe he'd have to keep that in mind.

As if reading the minds of the duo of players the sound of claws raking along rock comes to his attention as he looks back slowly from the entrance where they brought the rhino and smirks to himself as he gets ready for a fight that is about to happen. The martial artist gaining a rather happy grin across his face at the thought of this quest actually bringing out something that could be a threat to the duo, or at the very least provide more punching bags to try and decimate as quickly as they would come into the ring. He than hears an announcing voice similar to one that had tried to hype up the rhino as something to fear and worry about during this fight. "From the dephs of a place unknown! A beast with strength unlike any other! Bring forth the Clawed hand to hand fighter!" Hearing the title Mars just chuckle at that as he goes through various creatures that could fit that and thinking primarily of something akin to some mutant land shark possibly. Maybe even a tiger, lion, maybe they'd draw from myth and try to bring out a fish creature that wields weapons.  Well seems like there was more to this quest than just a puny rhino. As those words leaves his mouth he looks towards the enemy and just glares with all the hatred he has for it. You again. He says dryly as the bear comes out wearing sunglasses, wearing a american flag around itself like a cape, having sunglasses on its eyes, and then gets into a fighting position that resembles Tai Kwon Do. Not wasting anytime he runs towards the bear and quickly cuts into it with multiple slashing strikes as he smirks as the bear tries to parry them like he had his melee attacks last time. Nice try you little Sh***t. This time i can stab you. Mars says with vindictive glee.

Pinball had leaned against the coliseum wall, dozing off for a second, when the shouts of the crowd finally woke him up. He lifted his sleepy head to look across the field, his tired eyes slowly opening as he tried to process what he was staring at. What the hell was a clawed, hand to hand fighter? Pinball got his answer in the form of a short, guttural growl/gurgle.

"Huh?

He would have laughed, but instead he smiled, pushing himself off the wall and giving his spear a few practiced swings. "Oh, man," he chuckled softly, walking forward. It looked like Mars had a personal vendetta against The All American Bear, judging from the way he ripped into it like that. Pinball yawned. "Alright, my turn." He, too, activated his Charge skill, and passed by the bear after landing a score of blows across its cool, furry chest. He ended up walking away behind it, glancing at Mars. He shrugged, offering a small wave of his hand. "He doesn't seem too tough, huh..?

Looking towards the bear he quickly ducks under as a swipe at his head while the former martial artist stairs at the bear with a amused smirk on his face as he once more starts cutting into the bear with a flurry of swings of his blade that reduce the bear once more in a drastic amount towards its hp. Taking a quick backpedal away from the bear he looks towards Pinball and shrugs his shoulders. It was just as easy last time in all honesty. It is more so the fact that something as ridiculous as this thing is having to be fought against, and subsequently just wasting my energy with it. The sword wielding man gets into a defensive stance as the bear seemingly has locked onto him as the target. Though this is going about as easily as the rhino. I wonder why the frontliners are relying on tanks with no evasion. I mean we've dodged every hit so far which means we're basically better than tanks if you consider all the math for it. He says in a joking fashion towards the spear user.

Pinball watched with a blank face as Mars cut into the bear once more. They weren't even letting the poor thing get into its karate stance! Pinball would have felt bad, but... well. Would he have really? He gave his spear a twirl, passing it from his right side to his left and then overhead before snapping back into position. He let the bear come forward, and then he unleashed a flurry of blows that kept the beast at bay. The bear reeled back, growling irritably as Pinball's spear pushed it further and further backwards. He was kind of listening to Mars, but he had also kind of tuned everything out. He was saying something about being better tanks than the frontliners? "Well, yeah, I guess," he replied, "look at this stuff." He took a step back as the color faded from his weapon, letting his spear rest across his shoulders. He glanced at Mars, fully expecting his rival to immediately follow up with another attack.

He chuckles at the doubt in the tone of his rival as he looks towards him and than gestures towards the top left of his eyesight where the healthbar for his player is as he gazes towards Pin with a confident smirk. We haven't taken a hit where a tank would've been taking a lot more than us in damage. While we might not be able to take damage we can far outlast any tank in a pure fight. We would be dodging more allowing us to heal more than they could at their level Pinball. He says and than cuts his spiel only for a moment to get serious enough to cut into this bear once more. His blade cutting cleanly through the beast that had wanted to kill the duo as Mars dances around its form and dodging its strikes with practiced grace. The man smirking as if reading the bear's movements before he can even begin the first movements to strike at him. Pinball if we wanted to we could both go to the frontlines and survive as our own group really as long as we could get the right people to add in more damage. Maybe if we get lucky find and convince a healer to join us to make sure that when we do get hit we could live. That or just the both of us carry a lot of those performer healing items that are instants so we can survive every single time.

Pinball stopped for a second, watching Mars attack. He didn't pay much attention the giant bear, nor to its dwindling health. He was thinking on Mars' words, his sleep deprived mind processing the words that just came out of the leather-clad man's mouth. "Do you think so?" There was a bit of thoughtfulness in his voice as he slowly turned his head back to point at the All American Bear. "Maybe..." He shook himself out of it. He could consider that later. But just maybe-

But first, this bear. Pinball unleashed his Dimension Stampede one last final time, ripping the poor creature to shreds. It gave out one last, pathetic groan before shattering into a cloud of pixels, defeated by the two companions. The crowd roared their applause once more, but it only annoyed Pinball now. He turned to Mars, sighing. "Maybe it's about time to head out of here..?
