While its over dodge and mid air collision caused it to slam itself into the wall and fall to the ground. The Giant Bat picked itself up off the ground and flapped back into the air and dove in swiftly at Alec as be brought his shield up before him to protect himself along with Humphrey and the small child as he raised his axe confidently and prepared to swing again. In retaliation the bat swooped around Alec's shield and clawed a scratch across Alec's cheek as it swooped by. The trailing Giant Bat swooped in and sliced a small cut in Alec's arm as he brought his shield around to contact the Giant Bat hearing its hum and SNAP as it zapped the Giant Bat with a shock of static electricity that sent it flapping away squeaking. As the Giant Bat retaliated and swooped in slashing a tiny cut in Alec's check. The trailing Giant Bat swooped in behind the first and scratched Alec on the arm making another tiny cut there but not before Alec could bring his shield around and shock the trailing Giant Bat with a charge of static electricity stored within his his. The Giant Bats flapped away into the darkness as Alec brought his shield back up and raised his axe waiting for their return. Turns out he didn't have to wait long as they swooped out of the darkness aimed for Alec. As the neared Alec swung his Mithril Battle Axe out aiming for the first Giant Bat. The second Giant Bat flapped in behind the leader but Alec was able to bring his shield up in front if the trailing Giant Bat and block it away from himself harmlessly. The paired circled off into the darkness and swooped back in at Alec as he brought his shield up and raised his axe readying it to swing again. This darkened cave was really messing with his vision. He'd have to look into upgrading his perception when he had the chance he thought to himself as they appeared out of the darkness and dove in at him. He swung out at the first Giant Bat but missed as it dipped to the side of his axe swing divining in at him and opening a tonight cut on his chest again. The second bat dove in but Alec managed to get his shield up in the way and knock the trailing Giant Bat aside easily. He brought his shield back up and poised his axe ready to swing when the bats returned. Alec whipped his Mithril Battle Axe around but missed the first of the two bats as it dove for him and crashed harmlessly off Alec's shield flitting off into the darkness. The second Giant Bat followed the first one in and was also deflected by Alec's shield and knocked away before it could harm him as well. As the first Giant Bat dove forward Alec easily moved his shield to knock the bat aside and away from him as the second Giant Bat dove in behind the first. The second Giant Bat swooped in and clawed Alec on the arm as he brought his shield back around and as his rammed his shield into the Giant Bat he felt in begin to hum then SNAP it shocked the Giant Bat with a stored up charge of static electricity zapping the Giant Bat and causing it to squeal as it flapped away. The fight was slow going but it was still progressing in his favor. He'd dished out more damage than he'd taken and that was the name of the game as far as he felt so he'd keep up what he was doing and hope it continued to play out in his favor. As the first Giant Bat flew in Alec swung his axe around and sank the head of his weapon into the body of the Giant Bat opening another large cut in its body as he blocked the bats attempt at and attack. The second bat managed to scratch him again but he thrust his shield at it in response and was satisfied to hear its hum SNAP as it zapped the bat in return. Both Bats circled away and flew back in at Alec as he raised his shield again and swung his axe back around as the bat approached. The second bat used the previous confrontation as a distraction and skirted in and sliced Alec on the shoulder as it flapped by and darted into the safety of the surrounding darkness. The bat flitted around and opened a small cut in Alec's arm as he twisted his shield around and pressed it against the bat shocking it with a jolt of static electricity stored within the shield's conductive surface. The second bat dove in and opened its own cut on Alec as it flew past. Both Bats ducked into the surrounding darkness as Alec reset his shield and brought his axe back ready to strike as soon as he was able to. As the bat lunged at Alec he swept his shield up knocking the bat away from him before it could do him any damage. As the bat was knocked away it struck the second Giant Bat in mid air and sent the second Giant Bat to tumble and fall to the ground where it flapped and flailed for a moment. This was going slow albeit but still heavily in his favor so he just nodded and affixed his perpetual scowl and continued to grind through the fight. Take a little bit of damage but deal out a larger chink that was his plan and keep moving forward, always forward. Alec took a deep breath and raised his shield again to set his defenses and prepare for the Giant Bats return. The lead bat was in the yellow and teetering towards the red while the second Giant Bat was firmly in the red and only one hit away from being in the dead Alec thought to himself as he gritted his teeth and eyed the darkness waiting for the bats to emerge again as he knew they would. Finally they did and as the first bat flapped into range if his axe he lashed out in a viscous swipe at the flying creature. The second bat flitted in and sank its small teeth into Alec's arm as well causing Alec to smash his shield into that bat as well also eliciting a hum and SNAP from his shield that caused the second Giant Bats body to begin to shake till it exploded in a shower if red pixels that rained down and disappeared. He definitely needed more Thorns on his next shield he could have two slots of it and he solidly planned on doing that. Maybe he'd go back to Macradon, even though he hadn't seemed overly excited to sell Alec his Heavy Armor he'd bought. Alec hoped everything was all right with the Blacksmith and the man wasn't having any personal issues. He had seen the man at the raid meeting and seemed to hold a certain degree of respect amongst the Front Liners and Alec felt given the chance to really meet the man he might actually like him. Only time would tell. Alec raised his shield and prepared for the lone remaining Giant Bat to attack as he held his axe aloft waiting. When the bat got close enough Alec snapped his Mithril Battle Axe down over his shoulder and sliced clean through the last Giant Bat its two halves of its body hanging in mid air as the began to shake and vibrate before they both burst into a shower of red pixels that twinkled in the air as they rained down and disappeared into nothing. Alec 0 Posted April 11, 2019 Author #29 Report Share Posted April 11, 2019 (edited) Alec turned slightly and looked over his shoulder in the direction of Humphrey and the small child sitting atop his back like world's smallest cowgirl shooting them both the biggest toothiest smile he could form as he continued his turn spreading his arms out wide for added amusement of the child roaring cheerfully "See I told you! No monster is bigger or more scary than me! RRRAAAWWWRRRRR!!!" All the wild the small child clapped her hands and laughed in enjoyment at Alec's theatrics. "You were great Mister!" the small child happily exclaimed. "You were like Pow, Bam , Slam , Crash!" the small child exclaimed loudly and enthusiasticly. Alec dropped his Mithril Battle Axe into its loop at his belt as he continued to smile widely at the small child and her unadulterated joy. Alec walked over and knelt down before her and Humphrey and scratched the American Black Bear cub on the back of the neck and behind his ears. "Good job pal." Alec said. "You did just what I needed and kept her safe. Thank you my friend." Alec said softly to the bear cub as he stood up. He glanced back down at the small child riding atop Humphrey's back happily and idly kicked her legs back and forth as she casually ran her hands through and played with the fur on the back of Humphrey's neck and occasionally grabbed at one of his rounded ears which he'd flick and wiggle at her touch causing her to break out into peals of genuine pure happy laughter. The entire scenario made Alec smile as he observed the play between the two. If you could let yourself you could almost imagine this was real and not some digital creation. Alec shook his head as the reality of his situation came flooding back at him. None of this was real it was all pretty digital picture show designed to entrap and ensnare the unwary. Peering and reaching I to every nook and cranny he found. This seemed like the perfect spot for the game creators to have hidden a treasure chest full of loot. What better place than a dark cave in the middle if the woods. Alec plunged deeper into the cave hunched over running his hands along the walls, the ceiling and floors. He left no stone unturned no gap not searched no hole left unchecked. Alec searched every surface he could find touching everything wether his eyes could see it or not, he dug his hands into holes probing and searching. Spoiler Roll: 114497 LD: 19 Alec continued his search and reached his arms and his head into a large hole he found on the floor against the wall and felt something hard and rough against his finger tips. He knew that feel he'd felt that once before! He'd found a treasure chest! Alec moved his hands around till he would the cold iron hand holds on the sides and heaved with all his considerable strength and hauled the heavy iron bound wooden chest out of the home to site on the ground in front of him. He glanced from the mirror finished Battle Axe to the heavy iron bound wooden chest. Alec took the shiny metal axe and dug the edge of its blade head between the iron bands of the hasp securing the heavy iron lock which locked the chest and as he had no keys. Maybe he should stop by a Merchant's shop and buy some. Oh wait that's right Alec thought to himself. The first Merchant he'd tried to go to had closed his doors indefinitely and the only other Merchant he'd found still hadn't done anything to respond to his request for service. Maybe when he had a chance he'd just go do the quest and become a Merchant himself. He could call his mercantile Alec's Traveling Mercantile or ATM. The thought made Alec chuckle as he he pulled on the handle of his axe like a pry bar and popped the lock on the Treasure Chest allowing him to reach down and open the Treasure Chests lid. Alec was completely startled and caught off guard as the lid of the chest came slamming down on his forearms and teeth sprouted from the interior of the chest lid and opening. The sides of the chest bulged outward as if arms forming from the sides of the chest and the chest began to float as it attacked him. Alec wrenched his arms free raising his Shield and grabbing his Mithril Battle Axe as he called upon the energy to power a Sword Art. Alec felt his Battle Axe begin to vibrate and saw the head of his axe begin to glow as the energy coursed through him and into his weapon. When he could hold no more Alec brought his axe down on the mimic with all of will and resolve backing the Sword Art powered strike lightning crackling from his weapon. Alec tried to unleash a Sword Art but was do startled by the who scenario that he unleashed the energy too early and missed the mimic. Aleve took a moment to reset his footing and took a deep breath to help calm and center himself. This was just another monster that stood between himself and his goal of standing on the Front Lines fighting Bosses like the Front Lines team was doing right this moment they were beginning to square off with a Boss as he stood here fighting this fake Treasure Chest. He brought his shield up before him in defense and called on the energy again. He felt the sparking electric tingle of energy flow through him and behind to power his Mithril Battle Axe as it began to vibrate and glow. The mimic lurched at him snapping as the energy peaked and he slammed his axe down enhanced with the energy of lightning. The shock of the actual damge from the creature shocked Alec and he harmless released the stored up energy completely missing the Mimic with his swing and landing flat on the ground. This Mimic appeared to hit a lot harder than other creatures he faced so far. Alec stopped himself and forced himself to take a calming few breaths to center himself and bring his emotions under control. Alec brought his shield up before him to defend against the Mimic as he raised his Mithril Battle Axe up and prepared for it to strike again. The Mimic lunged at him its toothy mouth snapping and chomping as it lurched forward. Alec raised his shield again to defend but the Mimic just opened its mouth wider and slammed its oversized toothy mouth down on Alec's arm and shoulder opening a large wound that spat out red pixels. Alec brought his Mithril Battle Axe over his other shoulder and slammed the axe down on the top of the Treasure Chest lid and chopped open a gash that shot out a few brown pixels into the air. Alec raised his Mithril Battle Axe up high over his shoulder and smashed it down on top of the Mimic and opened a large rest that expelled brown pixels into the air. Alec grinned at the creature fiercely as he gritted his teeth and brought his Shield up in front of him and prepared for the Mimic to attack again. Alec brought his Mithril Battle Axe up over his shoulder again so he could swing down at the monstrosity when an opening arose. Alec brought his shield around in front of him and blocked the Mimic's lurching lunging attack and knocked it to the side as he brought his Mithril Battle Axe high up over his head and slammed the mirror finished axe into the top of the Mimic again chopping another chunk from it that released more brown pixels. Alec brought his shield back up in front of him to block the Mimic when it attacked him again. He also pulled his axe free from the Mimic and raised it up ready to seeing again. As it sunk its overly large teeth into Aleve again he drew his Mithril Battle Axe high up into the air and slammed it down on the top if the Mimic hacking out another chunk of its top. As he pulled his sxr free the latest cut let loose a stream of brown pixels. Alec brought his shield up before him as he eyed the Mimic and waited for its advance. At the same time Alec drew his axe over his head and prepared to swing again. Spoiler Roll: 114635 MD: 8 (Success) 48 DMG - 40 MIT = 8 DMG (Thorns Activates 9 Unmitigated DMG) BD: 1 (Critical Fail) CD: 7 (+ 1 EN Regenerated) The Mimic thumped and lurched at Alec opening its Treasure Chest lid of a mouth wide and chomping it down on Alec's forearm and his shield. The Mimic's teeth bit into Alec's arm leaving large puncture holes where they entered his skin. As the Mimic closed his mouth Alec's shield began to hum then SNAP it expelled a stored of charge of static electricity into the Mimic causing it to open its mouth quickly. The sudden release of tension as Alec was swinging his Mithril Battle Axe caused him to over balance and tumble to the ground landing in a heap in front of the Mimic. As the Mimic closed its mouth around Alec's forearm and shield Alec's Shield of the Thunderhearts began to hum and then SNAP it jolted the Mimic with a burst of static electricity which caused the Mimic to quickly opened its mouth as Alec began his swing. The change in tension as Alec was mid swing caused him to become overbalanced and toppled over on to his side land flat on the ground. Alec picked himself up quickly off the ground brushing off dirt and dust from himself as he stood. Alec brought his shield up to defend himself and raised his axe to strike at the Mimic. Alec raised his Mithril Battle Axe up over his head and slammed it down once again on to the Mimic's top hacking away another chunk of it that released more brown pixels as it fell away and exploded. Alec brought his Mithril Battle Axe up over his shoulder and slammed it down again in the top if the Mimic's chopping another chunk of it loose which tumbled away trailing brown pixels until it bounced off the ground and exploded in a tiny burst of more brown pixels. Aleve brought his shield back up ready to block the Mimic's next attack as he raised his Mithril Battle Axe into the air ready to strike the creature when the chance presented itself. Spoiler Roll: 114643 MD: 5 (Fail) BD: 8 + 2 ACC - 1 Dark = 9 (Success) 5 DMG CD: 2 (No EN Regenerated) The Mimic chomped down at Alec again but Alec managed to slid his shield into the way of the Mimic's bite and deflected its long jagged teeth harmlessly away from himself successfully avoiding another of the Mimic's attacks. Alec brought his Mithril Battle Axe up high again and brought it down forcefully on the top of the Mimic hacking away another piece of its top that let off brown pixels till it exploded.
