[BR - F24] Paving the way to Floor 25 (Floor 24 Boss Battle - Leviathan)

Recommended Posts

Itzal watched as the massive Leviathan attacked the parties once again.  However there was something else that happened this time around...  The crystals did something.  Two out of three of all crystals were shattered, and when they shattered onto his party, he saw their energy increase.  Itzal blinked.  Breaking the crystals restored their energy?  That was an incredibly useful thing right there.  However there was a negative aspect to the crystals, which he had expected.  Evidently the crystals could heal the boss's health...  which was bad.  Very bad.  It wasn't by much, but if all three crystals had still stood...  We'll need to shatter the crystals first before anything else.  He really hoped everyone saw what he had seen...  Because the Leviathan's attack had left Itzal frozen solid...  This.  This was what he hated most.  He hated being paralyzed and immobilized...  It was just, utterly the worst.

Domarus had watched and witnessed the boss regaining health from the crystals...  Well..  It's a good thing they destroyed it.  However before he could react in any way, the boss sent a wave of frostbite once again which froze Sey and Itzal.  Domarus was able to avoid being frozen but it was still a nuisance.  He looked at the field and noticed that there was only the segment remaining.  Domarus handled his ax before rushing forward and lashed his blade out at the segment.  Hopefully he had managed to finish it off, allowing for the players to continue their assault on the boss.  He returned to his comrade's sides.  To anyone who wasn't frozen he would say:  "If things remain this bad, we may have to retreat.  However if you all are willing, I'd prefer we stay until we've learned every one of it's abilities before pulling out.  That way we can properly prepare for the next time."

This fight was not going too well now that people were having to leave from their health getting so low. Looking at her own health, Neo was actually doing quite well. She didn't think it would last that much longer, but best to do what she could while she could. Typing out an extremely quick message to ruby, which just pointed an arrow in the direction Neo was, she tossed a TP crystal over that way for her after seeing the fear in her eyes from the situation. Along with that, she grabbed another crystal out of her inventory and lobbed it towards the crystal. As she did, she felt the energy of her own sword art activate. Lunging forward with it, her strikes pierced through the water and to the crystal within. As she was about to finish her last strike, she swiped the healing crystal down onto the ground and a green mist in the shape of a dragon spread across her party. It wasn't a lot of healing, but it was something, courtesy of Zandra, for them to have.

The blonde let out a pleased smile as she noticed her energy recovering despite all the debuffs this boss was throwing at them. "Nice.." she thought as she readied her weapon to strike again. A couple of lights caught her attention as she recognized the teleportation visual effect taking place around the battlefield. Until now unconsciously ignored the other parties' health bars but once their 'tank' started dipping into the red zone she glanced around her. While, except Sey, most of them we're doing fine HP wise most of the raid party was taking a serious beating. There was reluctant talks about retreating in her party.

"We'll beat it. We can do it! Even if we'll be the last one's standing." said the blonde confidently and albeit a bit more aggressive than she intended. "The rain... not even the boss is the major issue here, our only weakness is that damn freezing blast." she added before running towards the fragment and finishing off its remaining hp with a pole vault, digging the black soles of her military style boots deep into its skin. "If I remember right we have one of the best healers here." she said as she walked in front of @Zandra. Smirking as she saw the segment associated debuff disappear.

"Plus I'm here to help with that.." she added as she materialized yet another crystal and threw it, baseball style, at the ice cube that was currently their tank. "Don't get cold feet now, you hear me @Sey!!! We need all hands on deck to pump as much damage as we can." the fragile crystal turned into dust upon impact and replenished some of his HP.

God freaking damnit! Zandra thought to herself as she saw both Sey and Itzal get frozen. But even worse, the flames that licked her body got extinguished from the cold that had frozen her two party members. The satisfying feeling the flames had made her feel. She sighed as she checked the healthbars of her party. It didn’t looked good, they was still safe for a turn or two, but after that, who know how it would be. But this freaking debuff reduced the effect of the healing. If it just got removed somehow… That was when she saw the effect disappeared in same second as the segment got destroyed. A smile on her face as her fingers entered her battle ready inventory. Damn, she had never used her inventory in any previous fight. While she pressed some of her items she activated her field medic skill, a faint blue aura surrounded the players when their health got refilled a bit. A second later she held a crystal in her hand, she crushed it and five red mistformed dragons flew into each of her party members chests. ‘’Sey!’’ she shouted to the tank. ‘’Use this! Trust me.’’ She added as she sent the amphibian war rally to Sey. There was no time to explain what it do, but hopefully he would trust her word.

OOC: Stats and actions is added as like queens Ire was removed by Ariels attack.

Stryder had left, and Calrex was unfrozen now. Hikoru followed up with a seemingly weaker attack in hopes of trying to take out the sahagin that Calrex had missed without wasting more energy than necessary. It didn't seem to do much, but at least it was something. Hopefully his group could rally a bit more and take on the head once it became available. The party with the most T2 players had started to crumble as well. Pinball had retreated and Ruby was low on health. Though the pinkette was able to heal her party a bit more it seemed. It had all turned a little surreal now, going through the motions of the fight and hoping to make it out alive at the end of it. And hopefully no one else died either, but with the way this fight was going, it was uncertain if that could even happen.

Ruby basically had just enough of this fight and she had wanted out of here, in the middle of her panicking taking way too much damage close for comfort she had looked down to see a TP crystal being thrown over her way. Almost in a calmed tone she had looked up to see who threw it and seen Neo. She had looked back down at the TP crystal she had picked it up and looked back to Neo and said out to her "Thank you..." she grasped it tightly then had said out words to TP out of the boss room, she was just in no position to fight at all. After giving the command to before she had left the room she had looked over to Hestia and the rest of her group a little concerned about her leave, however she just could not stay here any longer. As the teleport completed she had left the boss battle finally safe again, but almost dying again in the fight.

Teleported out.

Kairi had looked over to Ruby leaving the scene then looked back to the boss that was at hand, Kairi had sighed, she knew that this might be a full retreat to fully think this again through... it almost seemed their efforts were for none except for knowledge of the next time they fight the boss. However with what little energy she had left, Kairi had picked up her buster sword and moved forward to the water crystal and did a lower sword art with practically with the last of her energy, afterward going down on one knee trying to pick herself up with her buster sword looking up breathing heavily, she knew she just didn't have the energy anymore to fight, she had looked back to @Hestia and said out to her "Do you think this fight might be a retreat? I am completely out of energy, so unless I can get some, this is a fruitless effort."

More and more players began to flee from the fight, succumbing to the will of the sea. The almighty power of the depths. Though the leviathan thought about teaching a few of these people the Davy Jones locker combination, they decided to instead toy with them a little bit longer. Let them scamper around like the insects they were. They were no match for the powers of the sea. As the leviathan leaned down, another gust of water shattered free one of the players frozen in ice. Meanwhile, the Sahagin battered into the players, clinging on to life as best as they could. There was no end in sight, but the fight must go on. The rain poured on in the same monotony of the fight, sapping palyers health continually and preventing them from being able to do much of anything productive in this fight. It wouldn't be long before one was put beyond their means and left unable to flee.

Boss Stats:

Spoiler

Room Effect: Torrential Rain
A terrible storm rages on the seas, growing worse by the minute. At the start of each of Leviathan's turns, players are progressively hindered. Those with the <<Survival>> skill active take reduced penalties (noted in brackets). ACC and EVA reductions only last for the rotation they were applied:

Rotation 1: 50 mitigatable DMG [25 mitigatable DMG]
Rotation 2: 100 mitigatable DMG [50 mitigatable DMG]
Rotation 3: 150 mitigatable DMG and reduces EVA by 1 for a turn [75 mitigatable DMG]
Rotation 4: 200 mitigatable DMG and reduces ACC and EVA by 1 for a turn [125 mitigatable DMG and reduces EVA by 1 for a turn]
Rotation 5+: 250 mitigatable DMG and reduces ACC and EVA by 2 for a turn [175 mitigatable DMG and reduces ACC and EVA by 1 for a turn]

<<Leviathan>> (Targetable for 1 turn(s))
[
                    ]
[                    ]
[                    ]
0 MIT | 0 ACC | -2 EVA | 14 PD
Takes double damage from all sources excluding Burn damage.
Leviathan is out of reach and unable to be targeted except for howl, focused howl, and other abilities that only generate hate until one of her Segments are downed.

Passive:  Queen's Ire
Applies to a player when they deal damage to Leviathan. Reduces all sources of health and energy restoration by half (rounded down, to a minimum of 0). Destroying a Segment immediately removes Queen's Ire from its assigned party.

Ability 1: Hydro Jet
[Uses every turn]
An attack that pierces through the toughest of hides, the sturdiest of ships, and densest of armor. Leviathan rears back and launches a jet of concentrated water at the player with the highest hate. Deals 500 DMG and reduces the hate of that player against Leviathan by 3. On a non-critical hit, a player may choose to expend 5 energy at the start of their turn to ignore this hate reduction.

Ability 2: Frostbite (1/2 CD)
[2 Turn CD]
Leviathan breathes deeply, unleashing a wave of extreme frost over the area that coats players and solidifies into ice (Note that this does not take an attack roll to hit; this attack will ignore, but not interrupt, stealth; this attack does not proc thorns). At the start of the players' next turn, they must roll with the purpose "Frostbite" (This is not a post action and should be rolled after scald if applicable). On a LD 1-14, they suffer from the Freeze condition until the start of their next turn (Removes their action on the current turn and removes all EVA properties. If they are hit by a successful attack before the effect ends they take an additional 40 unmitigatable Frost DMG.). A frozen player's base DMG is reduced by 3 for one turn after the freeze effect ends (this is negated if the effect was purified). The following allow bonuses to this LD roll or ignore the effect:

  • +3 for having the <<Survival>> skill active.
  • +2 for having the Flame Aura, Flame Thorns, or Burn enhancements equipped. (Can only apply once per roll, burn effects granted from consumables do not apply)
  • +1 for every 2 EVA the player has.
  • Having the Antifreeze makes the player automatically succeed the check.
  • Suffering from the Burn effect from Scald makes the player automatically succeed the check.

Additional notes: This will proc anti-oxidants and antidotes before the roll. If a player neglects to roll for this effect, the boss will make the roll at a -5 penalty (and will apply retroactively). And though it is stated earlier, once again, this does not cost a post action. I will know you aren't reading these abilities if you ask me if it takes a post action. You cannot quick change to gain immunity either, as it takes place at the start of your turn.

Ability 3: Scald (1/3 CD)
[3 Turn CD] (starts on cooldown)
A sphere of heated volcanic ocean water is lobbed and splashes against all players in the party. Deals 100 unmitigatable DMG to the player with the highest hate, 50 unmitigatable DMG to the player with the second highest hate, and 25 unmitigatable DMG to all others (Note that this does not take an attack roll to hit; this attack will ignore, but not interrupt, stealth; this attack does not proc thorns). At the start of the players' next turn, they must roll with the purpose "Scald" (This is not a post action, and should be rolled before frostbite if applicable). On a LD 15+, their base DMG is reduced by 1 for one round. On a LD 1-14, they suffer from Burn, taking 40 unmitigatable Fire DMG at the beginning of their turn for two turns (This is affected by the snowfrost effect). The following allow bonuses to this LD roll or ignore the effect:

  • +3 for having the <<Survival>> skill active.
  • +2 for having the Frost Aura, Frost Thorns, or Freeze enhancements equipped. (Can only apply once per roll, freeze effects granted from consumables do not apply)
  • +1 for every 2 EVA the player has.
  • Having the Fireproof enhancement makes the player automatically succeed the check.
  • Suffering from the Freeze effect from Frostbite makes the player automatically succeed the check.

<<Segment 1>> [Diamond Dust]
[                    ]
50 MIT | 2 EVA

AoE attacks cannot include more than one segment. Though they die and respawn, Segments cannot be affected by Charge more than once, and effects like debuffs will continue to affect a downed/respawned Segment.
One segment is assigned to each party. When a Segment is destroyed, Leviathan lurches forward and becomes targetable for 1 turn for all parties (stacks with other segments being destroyed). The destroyed Segment immediately respawns with a set of Sahagin adds. These Sahagin only target players in the party that they are assigned to and can only be targeted by players that they are assigned to. A respawned Segment has the <<Diamond Dust>> buff until all paired adds are killed.
Ability 1: Diamond Dust - Leviathan’s scales shimmer like diamonds. A Segment with the <<Diamond Dust>> buff is immune to damage.

I let out a breathe of relief as the ice around me breaks away from the rain as i quickly heal up Kairi back up towards full as i glance towards the Leviathan and see that it has once more moved back into range of being strikeable as i look towards Kairi and Neo and just nods my head towards them. Well now is a good of a time as any to strike at the leivathan. I say towards them as i then just back away trying to figure out what to even do with this fact of having the leviathan still full on health. 'As long as my group can keep the shahagins at bay we'll be fine. We'll delay destroying our segment as long as needed.' I think calmly towards myself knowing that having way to many enemies at this point might just be a death sentence against us since we're out some of our members in our party that could've helped us through this. 'We're more so just delaying the inevitable.' Kairi if you have a TP crystal be ready to use it if you don't have one pray that Neo has another extra laying about on her. Neo we need to prepare for a full retreat if need be. Everyone! please tell me the rest of you have teleporter crystal! i shout to the entirety of the raid hoping that nobody would say that they don't have one since at the moment for at least my group things aren't looking that great.

Quickly rushing towards the Leviathan's head he lashes out with a multitude of strikes along its scaled face each strike connecting against its face as he then forces himself away as he glances towards the enemies his party has to deal with then focuses more so once more on the segment that they are going to be attacking next. As long as they can get the hit on that and just move on with attacking leviathan once more then things will be just fine. 'It's just a matter of if Calrex, Jomei, and HIkoru can deal that kind of damage.' he thinks to himself unwilling to participate in the segment destruction since his energy is about halfway through its energy reserves and he can only just wait to use his energy during when it'll actually be useful which is to do it during the double damage moments as far as he is concerned.

Another crash onto his back and another bit of health would restore, followed by encouragement from Ariel. A comforting change of pace. Zandra soon followed up, but then added another two cents into the fray and gave him a horn? Yup, a horn! It seems like she was in a rush, a new item would be given and it was his role to use it! It wasn't going to interrupt what he usually would do, and so he would place his lips onto it before a heavy shriek would emit from it. The sagahins that just spawned seemed dazed and even Leviathan looked affected by the horn. Yes... YES!

"Everyone... He's open! Everyone who can do good damage, get him while he's stuck!" Sey declared, a glimpse of victory was revealing itself. A break from the consistent Hydro Pumps should allow him a bit to catch his breath, even the sagahins that just spawned didn't need him to howl. His hate management was sucking as of currently, but he was going to amend for it! He was given a chance to retain the hate that he had, and he was very quick to do just that!

Would they actually spare it if given the chance? Hell would Sey know. "He's paralyzed as well, he won't be bothering us for a little bit, so make your damage count!"

Hestia wondered who had a crystal. Well, he lacked one now, so it would only be a matter of time before he perished without one. An abrupt ending it would be, but he wasn't giving up on the idea of clearing the fight yet. "Nope, sorry love. I'm lacking in the crystal department."

"Can someone please figure out how to stop this damn rain!" Jomei shouted out to the rest of the frontliners, hoping someone had some idea of how to stop this devastating room effect. Jomei's focus on only the boss left an opening for one of the Sahagin minions, who rushed up to the ginger and dragged its trident clear across Jomei's back, leaving a deep red and white gash. The man grunted as he stumbled forward from the attack, turning to glare at the fish-like beast with daggers for eyes. However, when he heard Sey calling out to the rest of them that the Leviathan was open for attack, he turned his attention back to  the boss. If they could take out the big bad, then cleaning up these little guys would be a much easier task. He just hoped that one of his party members that could attack multiple targets can wipe the three of them out before they cause any more damage

The man disengaged from the Sahagin to avoid it getting any other sneaky attacks from behind, and then turned and charged towards the Leviathan's lowered head. The rain continued to pelt into Jomei, causing his damage to lower a bit more. However, the damage done was mostly counteracted by his Battle Healing, leaving him with only a sliver depleted from the room effect. Skidding to a stop in front of the serpent's head, Jomei unleashed his strongest sword art yet again. Each slash and stab dug deep into the leathery, scaled skin of the creature, dealing as much damage as he could.

A smile on Zandras lips as she herd the so familiar sound of tje amphibian war rally. What was even better was that it wasnt she that used it, so she could still act. And her act was to bring the big lizard down. But just as last time they hmdestroyed the segment, four new sahagin appeared. Well, that only meant more loot for her. To be sure to hit them, she consentrated before she charged forward, charging the weaklings and dealing a heavy blow on the lizard. She felt joy. Her party was almost at full health, to be on the safe side she had poped a mass heal crystal. Only Seys health bar wasnt full. But that didnt mattered, when he went low, he would just switch with Zandra, and Zandra would take some hits while Sey was healing up. Then they swotch back. This fight was going really good. At least for her party. She glanced towards the others. It didnt looked beutiful over there. Some had already left. She knew several players didnt bother to buff up, but who she didnt knew. Though she know someone that might. Zandra knew that the berserk healer is one of the top most likely to leave this fight alive. If her teleportation crystal could save someones life ibstead of beeing left in her inventory this whole battle, that would be a good choice.

With players dropping out things were beginning to progressively get worse.  The Leviathan wasn't losing anymore health than it had now thanks to the healing crystals.  They needed to formulate the best strategy to topple it and its minions.  That is to say, they needed at least one powerful AoE damage dealer on every party.  Unfortunately they just didn't.  Because of that and because they were two players down, they weren't going to be able to deal any heavy damage anytime soon.  More than likely there was no recovering from this.  He ran over to Zandra and whispered to her.  "If group two focuses on attacking the water crystal and nothing else, then we might stand a chance.  I'm not sure if they know this but I can't confirm it, they won't listen to me.  If you think we should double check and make sure they understand, then give a shout."  After this he rushed at the boss and released meteor strike, dealing a lot of damage on the monster...  Well actually it was still pathetic compared to everyone else's.

After all this time they were finally able to take a break from frostbite and scald.  Even still...  Their forces had dropped greatly due to players dropping out.  Team two only had three players remaining.  A tank, a dps, and a healer.  And from the looks of it the healer would die if she didn't get herself a healing crystal.  They were in bad shape to be sure...  Domarus watched Itzal move over to Zandra and whisper something to her before taking off and hitting the primary boss.  He nodded and took a deep breath before he rushed forward and activated Explode Catapult.  He landed his first strike on the Leviathan, but when he redirected to strike the Sahagin's, activating concentration and charge, since they were new targets for him.  He missed two of them, only hitting one of them on his wave.  After he struck and retreated he sighed.  "Our luck's just not great today..."

"Well just have to make our own luck then.Let's keep on with it! " muttered the blonde as she, as she passed by Domarus in her way to the leviathan's head. Luckily, she wouldn't have to be concerned about her energy for a while so now she would try to go all out again. She let out vicious warcry as she unleashed her sword art yet again. 'Tsk.' the black flames didn't accompany her weapon this time making her ask herself in jest if this damn unyielding rain managed to extinguish them.  Her question was answered the moment she saw Zandra AOE-ing around with the effect she too desired. Despite their odds, they would have to try and see this through since the party was only halfway the boss' main HP. She let out a sigh as she once again noticed that the damage they kept pumping into the segments did seem to affect in the slightest the 'head's' hp, only making it lower down.

+2 Hate to Sahagin 2/3/4, Leviathan

+93 Battle Healing

Cooldown:
Quick Change: 1/3

As the battle continued Calrex took note as most of his team switched to attacking the head, his eyes returning back to the sahagins that remained. One luckily fell to his reactive damage, but with that Vengeful Riposte was used up and on cooldown. However, their eyes were still darting between everyone, meaning that his Hate wasn't high enough to get their full attention, "Guess that means only one thing for now. I can focus on Leviathan later, right now I've got to keep these guys off of the others."

His gauntlets quickly swirled with light blue energy as he unleashed <<Howl>>, the explosive roar that emanated from his fists hitting each other shooting outwards and seemingly encapsulating the three creatures, as well as Leviathan. Lowering into a fighting stance he gave a small sigh, letting his mind focus, "All that's left is to take then out before they can do more damage. I can keep up with the damage, but not for an extended period of time."

Neo saw that the leviathan was target-able and went for the head. Her attack didn't seem to do all hat much, but at the very least it was something for her to do. She worried about stacking the detriment on her regeneration a bit, but every bit of damage was going to be helping this time around. After getting her attack in, she tossed a crystal in Kairi's direction, just in case she didn't have one of her own. As she did, she sent a message to Hestia letting her know she still had a crystal for herself. They were ready for a retreat if needed, but Neo had a feeling the remains of their party could still go for a while.

This fight won't be ending soon and this rain isn't letting up. There has got to be a way for us to finish this quickly and be done with it as soon as possible. That's the only way we're getting out of here without losing someone. End it as quickly as possible, snipe down the last bits of health the boss has.

The fight continued on, and Hikoru was going through the motions of fighting it. Another swing with his dagger and a narrow hit with his blade. It was likely doing barely any more damage than the tier 2 players that were here. Perhaps more, but not by much. Retreating to see how the rest of his party was going, he could see Jomei was frantically trying to figure out how to stop the thing doing the most damage to the raiding party. "It's unlikely to stop for most of the fight. Taking the boss down is the only way to guarantee it stopping." Perhaps there was some sort of trigger to stop it, but there was no obvious way for them to determine it. The boss was dropping quickly while it was target-able, they just needed to make it be target-able more often than it was currently.
