[BR - F24] Paving the way to Floor 25 (Floor 24 Boss Battle - Leviathan)

Recommended Posts

Kairi after the boss had done its action looked over to Hestia that had begun to speak out to her and simply nodded her head and said out to her "Well, its in my inventory so I am going to need a turn of being safe... so protect me please." then she had swiped the air opening her menus then going into her inventory and searched for her TP crystal, however in the middle of looking she looked over to Neo which had offered her a TP crystal. Kairi's eyes opened then said out to her "Are you sure? You could use this yourself you know?" however after a moment taking the TP crystal then activating it. She looked up to the boss as she spoke and she almost trembled in her words afraid almost, however she finished her statement and TP'ed out only hoping that everyone would be okay.

TP'ed out. Peace!!

Players have 96 hours to post

[Deadline is 3:00 PM PDT on 5/16/2019]

This fight was starting to waver for the leviathan, but it wasn't faltering just yet. Sahagin fell like seaweed in a current, but more would come. The sea always provided, and right now it wanted to provide the players with their defeat. Another player left in terror as their health plummeted from the rain. It wouldn't be much longer before an entire group was going to be wiped out by them. As a horn blew in the distance, the Leviathan reeled its head away from the group. Some strange other sea's power was compelling it. Perhaps one could survive this ordeal. Perhaps not. There was little they could do to stop them on their own anyways.

The players would see the Leviathan give a shake of its head, shaking off the hits as well as flinging droplets of water at the battlefield. No attacks came from it, but it seemed like it was going to be quite angry and wanted to be done with the players sooner rather than later.

Room Effect: Torrential Rain
A terrible storm rages on the seas, growing worse by the minute. At the start of each of Leviathan's turns, players are progressively hindered. Those with the <<Survival>> skill active take reduced penalties (noted in brackets). ACC and EVA reductions only last for the rotation they were applied:

Rotation 1: 50 mitigatable DMG [25 mitigatable DMG]
Rotation 2: 100 mitigatable DMG [50 mitigatable DMG]
Rotation 3: 150 mitigatable DMG and reduces EVA by 1 for a turn [75 mitigatable DMG]
Rotation 4: 200 mitigatable DMG and reduces ACC and EVA by 1 for a turn [125 mitigatable DMG and reduces EVA by 1 for a turn]
Rotation 5+: 250 mitigatable DMG and reduces ACC and EVA by 2 for a turn [175 mitigatable DMG and reduces ACC and EVA by 1 for a turn]

<<Leviathan>> (Targetable for 0 turn(s)) [Paralyzed - 1/1]
[
                    ]
[                    ]
[                    ]
0 MIT | 0 ACC | -2 EVA | 14 PD
Takes double damage from all sources excluding Burn damage.
Leviathan is out of reach and unable to be targeted except for howl, focused howl, and other abilities that only generate hate until one of her Segments are downed.

Passive:  Queen's Ire
Applies to a player when they deal damage to Leviathan. Reduces all sources of health and energy restoration by half (rounded down, to a minimum of 0). Destroying a Segment immediately removes Queen's Ire from its assigned party.

Ability 1: Hydro Jet
[Uses every turn]
An attack that pierces through the toughest of hides, the sturdiest of ships, and densest of armor. Leviathan rears back and launches a jet of concentrated water at the player with the highest hate. Deals 500 DMG and reduces the hate of that player against Leviathan by 3. On a non-critical hit, a player may choose to expend 5 energy at the start of their turn to ignore this hate reduction.

Ability 2: Frostbite (0/2 CD)
[2 Turn CD]
Leviathan breathes deeply, unleashing a wave of extreme frost over the area that coats players and solidifies into ice (Note that this does not take an attack roll to hit; this attack will ignore, but not interrupt, stealth; this attack does not proc thorns). At the start of the players' next turn, they must roll with the purpose "Frostbite" (This is not a post action and should be rolled after scald if applicable). On a LD 1-14, they suffer from the Freeze condition until the start of their next turn (Removes their action on the current turn and removes all EVA properties. If they are hit by a successful attack before the effect ends they take an additional 40 unmitigatable Frost DMG.). A frozen player's base DMG is reduced by 3 for one turn after the freeze effect ends (this is negated if the effect was purified). The following allow bonuses to this LD roll or ignore the effect:

  • +3 for having the <<Survival>> skill active.
  • +2 for having the Flame Aura, Flame Thorns, or Burn enhancements equipped. (Can only apply once per roll, burn effects granted from consumables do not apply)
  • +1 for every 2 EVA the player has.
  • Having the Antifreeze makes the player automatically succeed the check.
  • Suffering from the Burn effect from Scald makes the player automatically succeed the check.

Additional notes: This will proc anti-oxidants and antidotes before the roll. If a player neglects to roll for this effect, the boss will make the roll at a -5 penalty (and will apply retroactively). And though it is stated earlier, once again, this does not cost a post action. I will know you aren't reading these abilities if you ask me if it takes a post action. You cannot quick change to gain immunity either, as it takes place at the start of your turn.

Ability 3: Scald (0/3 CD)
[3 Turn CD] (starts on cooldown)
A sphere of heated volcanic ocean water is lobbed and splashes against all players in the party. Deals 100 unmitigatable DMG to the player with the highest hate, 50 unmitigatable DMG to the player with the second highest hate, and 25 unmitigatable DMG to all others (Note that this does not take an attack roll to hit; this attack will ignore, but not interrupt, stealth; this attack does not proc thorns). At the start of the players' next turn, they must roll with the purpose "Scald" (This is not a post action, and should be rolled before frostbite if applicable). On a LD 15+, their base DMG is reduced by 1 for one round. On a LD 1-14, they suffer from Burn, taking 40 unmitigatable Fire DMG at the beginning of their turn for two turns (This is affected by the snowfrost effect). The following allow bonuses to this LD roll or ignore the effect:

  • +3 for having the <<Survival>> skill active.
  • +2 for having the Frost Aura, Frost Thorns, or Freeze enhancements equipped. (Can only apply once per roll, freeze effects granted from consumables do not apply)
  • +1 for every 2 EVA the player has.
  • Having the Fireproof enhancement makes the player automatically succeed the check.
  • Suffering from the Freeze effect from Frostbite makes the player automatically succeed the check.

<<Segment 1>> [Diamond Dust]
[                    ]
50 MIT | 2 EVA

AoE attacks cannot include more than one segment. Though they die and respawn, Segments cannot be affected by Charge more than once, and effects like debuffs will continue to affect a downed/respawned Segment.
One segment is assigned to each party. When a Segment is destroyed, Leviathan lurches forward and becomes targetable for 1 turn for all parties (stacks with other segments being destroyed). The destroyed Segment immediately respawns with a set of Sahagin adds. These Sahagin only target players in the party that they are assigned to and can only be targeted by players that they are assigned to. A respawned Segment has the <<Diamond Dust>> buff until all paired adds are killed.
Ability 1: Diamond Dust - Leviathan’s scales shimmer like diamonds. A Segment with the <<Diamond Dust>> buff is immune to damage.

One crystal is assigned to each party. Only the assigned party may target the water crystal. Hate is not gained against water crystals. At the start of Leviathan's turn, each living Water Crystal heals Leviathan for 3% of its max HP. When a Water Crystal is destroyed, its corresponding party gains the <<Hydrated>> buff.
Ability 1: Hydrated: Instantly restores 25% of total energy (ignores queen's ire). Passive energy restoration is tripled and the effect of the Recovery enhancement is doubled for 1 turn.

Once more taking out a healing potion he quickly drinks up the potion without any hesitation to allow himself to try and stay in this fight longer then what he already was just trying to delay the inevitable retreat that he'll probably have to do unless his group can get lucky enough to finish off their Shahagin and get a few quick and powerful strikes against the segment they have in front of them. Glancing towards the other groups he notices that the group led by the police chief only has ice cream left, and the other group is still doing rather well for themselves in terms of health values. 'Seems that things aren't going perfectly, but they are still allowing us a good chance to stay in the fight and gain the advantage if this thing is in the yellow now. Which means we'll probably only need to strike at it two more times to get the final killing blow against it.' He thinks to himself with a nod of his head as he waits weathering the rain as his familiar the liger coated in flames that have been doused into nothing just sits their irritated and annoyed.

Hikoru was right, the only way they could be sure the rainstorm would end would be to take out the boss itself. Jomei turned to face the Leviathan as it rose its head out of range of the player's onslaught yet again. His best bet at the moment would be to help get rid of the fish men that guarded his party's segment of the Leviathan's scaled body. The ginger found the one that still had the most health out of the three that remained and focused on it for a moment. He did not want to make the same mistake as last time and miss, so he activated the Concentration skill just to be safe. The man's olive eyes flickered with yellow cross hairs around his pupils for a moment as he chose his target, and once his sight was lined up with the Sahagin, he used his Charge skill to launch forward. Kicking up wet sand as he rushed forward at full speed, the ginger's shoulder collided with the fish person before unleashing the full power of his Over Radiation, riddling the creature of cuts and stab wounds.

Not half bad damage in the slightest, they were down to the final bar! The part in the middle was in a critical state, unfortunately, meaning they were left to survive and maybe slowly work on their segment. Okay okay, fine. Maybe that wasn't the best thing in the world, but they were a third of the fight away from victory, they just needed to continue taking on their segments and two more enemy rushes should happen. Now it was time to focus on bringing his aggro up, right? Well, no one seemed to be opening up their segments anytime soon, and the anger of Leviathan as it shook around signaled to him that something massive was coming up. Damn it... No no no, now was not the time for another mechanic! He could only hope he was wrong, but that paralysis wasn't going to hold up for too much longer, he needed to brace himself for impact.

"Oh no, we're about to see something we don't want to..." And the most he could do was prepare a shield for himself in case it was exactly what he thought it was going to be. Crossing his arms over his head, he would aim to evade what was soon to come, but he wouldn't evade mitigation when he needed it. With a simple snarl, he would wait for the storm soon to come.

Placeholder:  Someone had managed to paralyze the Leviathan which prevented it from landing another strike against the players.  That was good, but he still wished he could have landed a critical hit himself.  He had paralysis, bleed and toxin all on his blade at the same time.  If he could have landed a solid hit, then it would have been over and done with.  Especially since it received double damage...  He just wished he could land an actual critical for once.  Oh well.  The boss was out of range and it's segment protected again by the minions.  Itzal rushed over to the only Sahagin remaining and released his sword art Meteor Strike.  After dealing his damage, which was reduced slightly because of the blast of cold but that wasn't stopping him.  He leaped back and saw team two only had two players on it left.  Hestia and Neo...  They could technically run over and join group one, but would that mean the segment would go away?  Or would it remain?  And if that was the case, did that mean the water crystal would behave similarly?

Watching the chaos going on was troublesome.  He watched as players got hit by the frostbite again while others did not.  Itzal didn't freeze this time around and Domarus managed to keep from being frozen as well.  Thus he focused on doing his part.  He focused on the one and only Sahagin remaining in the group.  Once that creature was down they could attack the segment again.  When that happened they could target the boss...  Something didn't feel right...  Nonetheless he was going through with his decision to attack the Sahagin.  Domarus readied his axe and prepared his attack, then activated charge on the monster.  As he rushed forward he swung his massive ax and cleaved it through the mob, dealing his damage.  He needed to get to tier three quickly after this fight, so he would be of far more use.  At any rate he was here helping.  Domarus returned to the group hoping someone could finish it off or land a blow against the segment if it became available.

With Jomei attacking the sahagin with the highest health Calrex shifted his focus to finishing off the remaining two that had only slivers left of their health bars, "Tch, what a time to have switched off of axe. At least Martial Arts still has an area of effect attack, let's just hope it's enough to finish them off..."

Crouching low his right leg began to glow with Sword Art energy are he prepared <<Tornado Kick>>, locking onto the second and fourth creatures of the group, a calm breath escaping beneath his expressionless helm. Right as he felt his body get locked into the assisted system the Ultramarine Knight shot forward, darting towards the two from a horizontal angle while he rotated quickly around his central rotational axis.

As the creatures came back around into his field of view his powered leg whipped around, crashing across both of the monsters' faces while he slid to a stop at the end of his travel path, kicking up sand as the bluenette came to a stop.

The fight was still going nowhere fast, but at least Calrex was taking the attention of the Sahagin remaining. As they were focused on him, Hikoru quickly  readied another attack. Jomei had already managed to strike against the full health monster, but it was better safe then sorry when it came to attacking it. The ones low on health should be taken out easily by other attacks. Lunging forward and striking quickly with his dagger, the Sahagin's health bar began to drop even faster than before. It wasn't long before he was backing up just in case it wasn't enough damage to take it out. Hopefully it would be, but with this being a floor boss, one could never be too careful. Every little bit that they could manage was a little bit closer to this fight being over. They were closing in on victory and they only needed a couple more chances at the boss itself to take it down once and for all.

Seeing that by this point with Kairi's leave and Sey's opening for allowing some quick maneuvers i just nod towards Neo and then quickly books my way over towards Calrex and his team as i give a wave towards the Ultramarine Knight. Sup i heard you guys need a healer me and Neo are just gonna crash and stay here for now enjoy having our company cause you're stuck with us. I say as i send a quick party prompt towards Jomei to allow myself and Neo into his party and when he would hit accept i would just quickly activate field medic on top of that to heal up some of the damage that had been done to both groups. my mind still in a bit of a dizzy and spinning all over the place due to the simple fact of having had to deal with a lot of planning on how to prevent Ruby, then Pinball, then Kairi from possibly dying on my team because apparently inadequate prep beforehand had almost dealt them all a bad hand with fate.

"Alright lets wait a bit before finishing the segment, we can do it next round. I want to see what its gonna throw at us before we spawn more adds." she said looking over her shoulder. "Try not to waste too many resources on the fish people last one was a little overkill. We're almost there.." she added, though looking at their party stats it looked like she was the only one in danger of running out of energy soon. With a sigh she materialized another crystal in her palm and crushed it against Sey's shoulder. "How's it feel to have your HP fluctuating so much? Exciting isn't it?" she asked with a grin before starting her dash towards the segment.

Her weapon went ablaze in a black hue as she discharged a series of stabs into the segment, depleting over a third of its HP bar. "I think with a couple more attacks its done. Looks like its not going to let us finish it that easily." she said to no one in particular, mentally prepping for the incoming retaliation.

Neo noticed Hestia nod and move over to another party. Following behind her, Neo waited for it to become official as she was healed for some more HP from Hestia's field medic. Seeing that they others were already hammering at their remaining Sahagin, Neo took the opportunity to try and run in for a hit against the segment. She still didn't have that much in terms of damage, but it was going to hopefully be enough that she could make it take less time for the segment to fall. After this, she was probably going to have to back off for a bit so she still had energy to continue with this fight. That was, unless those water crystals came back. If they were able to take them out quick enough, they were all benefits and no detriments. SHe would be able to keep attacking if those came back.

OOC announcements:

Spoiler
  • For order of operations. Roll frostbite first and then scald. If you fail your frostbite roll, you will automatically succeed the scald roll.
  • The party merging mechanic is approved by staff and works as follows:
    • Any party may merge into a second party under the following conditions as a free action:
      • Everyone in both parties must consent (consent was already attained before doing so for this)
      • The merged party would not exceed the maximum party size applicable to the current thread
    • This will be given out as an official patch sometime in the future, but may be used unofficially on current patch.

Players have 72 hours to post

[Deadline is Sunday 5/16/2019 @ 4:00 PM PDT]

These players were slowly faltering, and they wouldn't be lasting like they were if things continued the way they were currently going. Parties were merging and everyone was having their health bars slowly drain. The rain continued to pour onto the battle-field, giving no respite to those trying to heal themselves. Sahagin may have been shattering left and right, but the leviathan began a beating onto the players. First a blast of water came from their sides, buffeting them. Second was a wave of frost, which had the potential to continue freezing players in place. And lastly was an orb of boiling water to burn those who weren't touched by the frost. There was no escape from this barrage, the leviathan made sure of it.

Deal with these pesky warriors, and then move on to greater plans.

As the leviathan figured out what to do with its prey, two more of those crystals came from the segment now left untouched. The open wounds on it letting them escape. Water gathered up around them as they started to float about the battlefield, waiting for its masters commands.

Boss Stats:

Spoiler

<<Leviathan>> (Targetable for 0 turn(s))
[
                    ]
[                    ]

Ability 2: Frostbite (2/2 CD)

Ability 3: Scald (3/3 CD)

Ability 4: --

Assigned to party 1:

Spoiler

<<Segment 1>>

"Predictable... Yet so annoying. And here comes the storm..."

And the storm came, both ice and heat came into the fray. Being the one to take the hits from the enemy, he would find his skill slots and actions locked, there was nothing he could do when he desperately needed to howl. How nice of Ariel to throw him a potion before, now he could take the heat of the Scald. But so does she. And so did Zandra. This may have been enough of an answer, Sey would place the tip of his pointer and middle finger against his head, good ol' finger guns. Things were not looking too good, but he just can't balance hate with his health at this rate. It even seemed like Zandra went idle for a moment, so he was trying to find a way to handle this balancing act.

"Zandra, I'm going to need you to take Leviathan's eyes or else we're going to have DPS blood on our hands." Because no matter how many times he tapped howl, the skill was frozen in a block of ice, there was no escaping the fact that he had to step down from the tanking stance. Fortunately, that was what an off-tank was for. Minimized damage, absolutely. But maybe they'll switch when she hits a Segment or something, he didn't know. Her health was in stable condition, his was nearing the yellow yet again. So many risks, so little present rewards.

But there was still a segment, there was still an orb, there was still an answer to Leviathan. "Whoever hits that crystal gets a cookie, but only one person can hit it." There was a reason why it was slippery in the first place. Would they listen to that? Hopefully, that was their best chance at getting energy and minimizing the risks of bringing adds. Sey paid too little attention to what happened to party 2, so that was still the assumption he was going under. It was a huge longshot, but if somehow all three of the DPS players on their team manage to survive the frozen check and hit their targets, maybe... Just maybe... They could have their segment popped.

Looking towards the water crystal he is quick to act as he rushes towards the crysta only for himself to find his entire body frozen and not moving as the frostbite attack quickly covered him locking him into place as he just glares at the water crystal that nods stands perfectly fine and undamaged. Just glaring at the thing with unending hatred and annoyance at his attack being stopped by the boss freezing him into place, and forcing him to rely on the fact that somebody will hit it with enough damage to destroy the thing. 'Which hasn't been working out in our favor so far since this thing is strong enough in its armor to sometimes just shrug off attacks that get sent towards it in the first place.' He thinks to himself in annoyance as he just waits forced to do only that as the ice around him keeps him frozen like a statue.

Walking over towards the player that just got frozen i put my hand against the ice that is cool to the touch as i activate first aid as i recover a bit o the HP that the player had lost as i keep count within my head how long field medic has been down for so i can use it as quickly as i can when it comes time. Glancing towards Neo i only offer a smile and then calmly just waits patiently not being the one in charge of the group so not going to say anything more trusting that either Jomei or Calrex will say something if they have any particularly strong game plan for what to do from this situation that we are now in. 'Things could be going better sure, but they could also be going worse.'  I think to myself as i shrug off the cold that washed over my form however the blistering hot water that hits my form next manages to leave me with the burn status effect. The icy cold snowfrost that surrounds my armor just ever so slightly helping deal with some of that damage.

The sahagins were successfully taken care of, which was a huge step in the right direction. Without minions specifically targeting their team, that means only the seemingly constant rain damage and Leviathan's attacks were the only things to worry about at the moment. Calrex gave a small sigh of relief before he suddenly saw his health shoot up to full, turning to see that Hestia and Neo from the second team had seemingly joined up with the others. Glancing at the corner of his vision the bluenette saw that their two usernames had now appeared in their group, "Guess that's a new feature as well."

"Much appreciated, that means I can go a little more on the offensive now, albeit a little bit late now. First things first we'd better take care of the water crystals..."

As he finished his suggestion the Ultramarine Knight recognized the motions that Leviathan used to trigger both Frostbite and Scald. Luckily enough, one did cancel out the other, so they didn't have to worry about the second should they not succeed shaking off the first.

However, as he recognized from the previous effects, his unique skill was causing the effects to last twice as long, and he could not let that happen again. Clenching his right hand into a fist he focused his senses as he saw the frost starting to form on his armor, "Not...this time...[/i]"

With a swift swing the forming ice shattered into small pieces, flecking off of him before being followed by the volcanic water that fell over them. The spots where ice still rested on his armor it combined and steamed off, while the rest ran down the Grand Chariot III. Letting his mind focus Calrex gave a calming breath as he focused his eyes on the crystal, "Sorry, you've hit me with both, and I'm not going to let myself be subjugated to them again."

Rushing forward his arm drew back as he prepared <<All Might>> to strike, but as he got into striking range suddenly he saw the floating object shift, missing his strike, "Guess this thing is more agile than I had planned."

The rogue watched as another wave of attacks came at them.  While the last time they weren't hit with either frostbite nor scald, this time they were being hit by both attacks simultaneously.  Itzal braced himself for the first one, pulling his hood down further to block most of the cold entering his hood.  It did the trick too, keeping him from freezing up.  However when he looked back up he got hit hard by the scald and received the burn effect.  It didn't matter too much against him honestly.  Itzal spotted the water crystal and knew what he had to do.  Charging at the crystal he released Meteor strike and landed a critical hit against it.  Good.  That meant that even if other players in his party missed it, the crystal would be receiving damage.  He didn't think the paralysis effect would stop it from healing the boss though...  They'd worry about that later on.  The point was to destroy the crystal as fast as possible.

While the other players had managed to avoid the effects of frostbite, Domarus wasn't so lucky.  His metal armor went rigid and ice cold as the frostbite struck him in a wave.  He froze solid and growled silently as he waited for it to defrost.  When scald hit him however, he stumbled out of the frozen state.  The result was him being a bit disorientated.  The man heard Sey calling out that only one player could hit the crystal, and then saw Itzal make the strike.  Still, he had an AoE attack.  He could attempt to hit the crystal as well as the segment.  So he began to move forward to attack them both.  There was, one problem with this action.  To attack properly he needed to be focused, and being frozen then knocked back and thawed had thrown him off.  The player missed the crystal barely and when he struck the segment, his blade didn't even bury into the scales.  Cursing his luck he backed off again.

Hikoru braces himself for the giant wave of frost that hit him, and he felt the cold chill around his body. However, he kept moving. If he kept moving, kept his body heat and didn't allow the frost to attach to him, he would be fine. In proved to be true and he was able to make it out of it without much of a scratch. Then the giant fireball came. Hikoru braced himself again, getting pelted by the pieces of rock and magma, brushing it off quickly. He saw the others attack the water crystal, and he knew that he should worry about the segment before anything else. He moved quickly and struck it, gritting his teeth as he was drenched from head to toe in the rain, but he was able to keep working through the pain and struggle and made the damage worth it quickly and easily. He smiled triumphantly, and backed away quietly, proud that the cards seemed to be back in his favor.
