Quest Name: Escape

 

Quest Description:

After being told about a group of thugs roaming the plains of Floor 3, you decided to investigate. As you investigated, you were rendered unconscious and soon after transported away from the area. When you come to you find that your hands are bound and have been moved to a small room in an unknown location. Your equipped items and battle items are all missing, a set tattered rags being the only thing on your person. The floor is cobbled, along with the walls the only light being a small, barred slit in the ceiling. After you wrench your hands-free a small notification appears initiating the quest <<Escape>>.

Aid Allowed: No

After breaking out of your binds, you can see that the <<Wrought Iron Gate>> looks weak enough to bash open. Just outside the gate, you see a small wood crate, that holds your previously missing equipment. Breaking open the gate will cause the two <<Bandit Guards>> down the hall to wake and attack you '2' posts later after you've geared up. It takes a full post to gear up.

You can attempt to pick the lock of the gate if you have at least Rank 2 <<Sneak and Hide>>. If you pick the lock, the guards will not hear you, and you are free to continue your escape. It takes one post to try to pick the lock, on an LD of 15+.(LD modifiers do add to this) You only have '3' chances to pick the lock, afterward, the lock becomes jammed and you're forced to break down the gate. Alternatively, you can pick the lock immediately with the <<Picking>> skill.

The <<Wrought Iron Gate>> takes ‘4’ full posts to break down. The post count is reduced by '1' for each rank a character has invested in the <<Martial Arts>> skill. However, it can only be reduced to a minimum of '1' post.

You can complete the rest of the quest stealthily, using the <<Sneak and Hide Skill>>. Every '3' posts, you must roll the LD (please link it to the post) to see if you are discovered. That means after fighting the two <<Bandit Guards>>, every third post you will roll the Loot Die to see if guards discover you or not.

If you're discovered a <<Alert>> will be sounded and now every '3' posts instead of rolling the LD to see if you're discovered, you now fight 2 <<Bandit Guards>> every '3' posts.(this means your energy will not recharge to full) More guards cannot appear in mid-combat. Same rules as the previous paragraph, but instead of avoiding combat it's now you're forced to fight 2 guards.

On the 15th post or higher, you can start searching for the exit by rolling the LD. Finding the exit requires an LD of 17+. If in combat on the 15th post, the roll happens immediately after combat ends. If no exit is found, you can roll to find the exit every 3 posts after.

After escaping the jail you're met with the <<Bandit Warden>>, who has been waiting for you outside.

Bandit Guards use spears, both one-handed and two-handed. And will have normal conversations outside of battle.
Damage: 30, +1 Acc, +2 Eva, +20 Mitigation

(Can edit Hp/Dmg/Mit to meet Loot Drop requirements or for added difficulty. Will not increase end quest rewards)

A giant of a man, who wields a club. Will laugh and mock the player in battle
Damage: 30, on natural rolls of 9 or 10 ignores armor mitigation, +2 Eva, +15 Mitigation

 

Quest Prerequisites:

Escape the prison and defeat the <<Bandit Warden>>

The Thread Must Be 2 Pages Long (21 or more posts)

 

 

Quest Rewards:

(Repeatable for item drop only)

2 Skill Points upon completion

<<Bandit's Guile>> Increases a player's Evasion by '1' point. Potion effect lasts for one battle.

Alec had slowed down in his mad dash for levelling lately and felt a bit in a funk he couldn't explain. Maybe he had skyrocketed too fast after far too long sedentary as he had tried to understand how to even deal with day to day events and occurrences here within Aincrad. As is Alec found himself walking the streets of the Third Floors main settlement of Delilah. The town was really more of a homey little village that was calm and slow paced, which was just fine by Alec as he was in need of the slow down home calm feel to try and ease the funk he was feeling. There was a secondary reason he found himself here on the Third Floor as well. He had heard rumors of a group of Thugs who had been roaming the floor hassling and Players and being a general bane to human existence and Alec had thought what the heck. Maybe kicking the crap out if some Thugs would help snap him out of his funk and reinvigorate him and his motivation to continue levelling and finally reach a point where he could step up to the Front Lines as a participating member of their ranks.

After travelling around the town and hearing no new information about the Thugs roaming this floor Alec decided it would be best to continue his search in the wilderness outside of the Town. Obviously the Thugs couldn't be operating inside the village but Alec had hoped to find out a small bit of information more about their possible location or any other valuable information he could find out but unfortunately he came up with no new information he could learn about the Thugs. Alec began to make his way to the Main Gate of the village and the wild lands beyond. Alec entered the courtyard and opened his inventory with a quick downward swipe of his index finger as he began to scroll through his items listed inside as he began choosing his weapon he would use and armorments that he would wear on this quest to deal with this elusive group of Thugs roaming the Third Floor and terrorizing Players and non player characters alike.

Alec departed the town of Delilah by way of the main gate and made his way into the extensive plains and surrounding forests of the Third Floor. As Alec walked through the plains surrounding the main settlement of the Third Floor with his friend and trusted companion by his side he glanced to the sky enjoying the open air and warm sun shinning down on him as he crossed through the open grassland as the tall grasses blew and waved in the gently breeze blowing through the area. It was pretty obvious he wouldn't find the Thugs hanging out in this area so Alec wasted little time in his passing as he made his way towards the outlaying forests assume that a better place to look for the Thugs than out here in the open. Alec stopped briefly in has passing for an expedited search for any usefull Materials he might find in the area as he glanced his Luck Stone tightly in his overlarge fist. As Alec did a quick cursory search of his surroundings he came up empty handed and continued his travels towards the nearby forest.

Alec left the warm open sunny expanses of the grasslands and entered the cool dim shaded interior of the forest. The forest was noticably cooler than the sunny open air grasslands and goosebumps instantly pimpled Alec's exposed flesh at the sudden drop in temperature. Alec contiued his travelling with Humphrey by his side as he sought out the lair if these Thugs that had been plaguing the Third Floor of late as Alec cautiously made his way deeper into the shady interior of the forest. Alec again decided to take a short detour and search for any useful Materials that may be hidden in his surroundings as he continued his walk into the heart of the forest. As Alec contiued his travels deeper into the heart of the forest he spotted out of the corner of his eye a small purple toad stool growing out of a nearby stump and as he reached out and plucked the mushroom he noticed that it had a banner displayed reading <<Tier 1 Material>> Alec smiled inwardly to himself as he placed the toad stool in his inventory. As Alec began to stand he felt an intense pain in the back if his neck and saw a bright flash of light before everything went black and he fell into nothingness.

As Alec awoke he felt cold hard stone on his cheek as feeling and thought returned to him slowly and groggily. He lifted his head and tried to move only to discover that he was restrained with a rough hemp rope tied tightly around his wrists. Alec wiggled and rocked till he reached a sitting position and looked around his surroundings. It appeared he was in some sort if dungeon prison cell. The floor was cold cobbled stone as we're the three walls around him. A faint light leaked through and tiny iron bared window high on the back wall. Alec contiued his visual search as he looked over the rusted worn iron bars and gate that were the only opening from the stone walked and floored cell he found himself in. Alec slowly flexed his tree trunk like legs and stood up stretching his muscles as best he could as he slowly moved closer to the rusted iron gate. A quick visual inspection told Alec that he was pretty sure he could bash the gate open. It wouldn't be pretty and it wouldn't be quiet but he'd manage. Alec began to twist and wriggle his hands and wrists as he flexed the enlarged muscles of his chest, back and arms straining against the worn hemp rope till with a massive grunt if exertion the ropes exploded in frayed ends and fell free from his wrists. The moment his hands were free a banner popped up in his vision <<Escape!!>>.

As the banner appeared within Alec's vision and then disappeared again Alec gave a grim resolute nod to himself. Fine then this was how this quest played out so be it. Escape he would and right through the center of them. No skirting the edges for him he go straight up the middle and smash his way through to freedom. Alec sized up the gate as he looked down at his friend and companion Humphrey. "Well pal. Here goes nothing." Alec ended with a growl as he savagely threw himself and all his considerable size and weight against the rusted iron bars if the gate holding him inside this cell. As Alec massive body surged into the iron bars if the gate Alec heard an extremely gratifying CREAK as the bars shifted and some of the fasteners and fittings began to loosen from the enormous impact of Alec's body slamming into the aged iron gate. Another few attempts and he'd burst out of this cell likes the world's largest angry Jack in the box.

Alec growled like a savage caged animal as he drew back from the rusted iron gate to the back of the cell then violently charged forward and viscously threw himself wildly into the aged iron bars of the gate again, throwing his considerable weight and massive frame into the old tired bars serving as his bar to freedom. The gate bent further and yielded another large CCRREEAAKKK as the bars holding Alec prisoner shifted and bent further giving more against Alec viscous violent assault against them. He felt the gate giving further with his second attempt soon so very soon he'd be free of this cage as he looked beyond the bars and saw an aged wooden trunk. Yes Alec thought with an animalistic snarl and savage grin that's where his equipment was and once he had it back he'd tear through their ranks like a savage gale force wind a STORM that would leave them broken and decimated in his wake.

Alec was nearly free of this prison he found himself trapped within. As glared and scowled at the rusted bent iron bars of the gate keeping him locked inside. Alec grasped the iron bars of the gate with one overlarge fist and the iron bars of the supporting cage with his other and flexed every muscle in his massive frame as he wrenched on the gate torquing the gate further with a monumental surge of effort and strength as he planted a foot against the bars of the cage and flexed his tree trunk like legs as the ropes of muscles in his body flexed and expanded as he strained again twisting and bending the rusted iron bars further as he flexed and heaved exerting monumental amounts of force in the already damaged iron gate and cell bars. Alec stepped back from the iron gate and cell bars heaving in giant lung fulls of air as his body swelled and shrank as he gulped air hungrily restoring his spent energy and preparing for one final burst of energy to blast through the cell door and it to freedom.

Alec scowled at his handy work and the nearly decimated rusted iron gate in it's bent and torqued status. The gate was nearly a pretzel in how bent and twisted Alec had made it so far as he surveyed his handy work while his breathing slowed and he prepared for his last push to break free of the cell. That gate wouldn't take much more to finish its destruction and allow Alec his freedom. Alec squared off to the gate as his chest rose and fell with his large large breaths as he prepared to break free. Alec brought his hands up before him his fists clenched like a fighter as he dropped his right leg back behind him and bent his knees slightly. With a monstrous bellow Alec lashed out with his back legs as the thrust his hips forward and connected with the remains of his cells gate with the flat of his foot as he pressed out with his back legs and front leg at the same time in a monumental front kick that sent the already damaged fate hurtling from its hinges to slam into the far wall with an awesome crash and boom that surely alerted everyone within this prison that he had extricated himself from his cell and was now free and on the loose.

Alec burst from his cell and descended upon the old wooden crate outside his cell throwing the lid wide to reveal all his equipment and items. Alec quickly swiped downward with his index finger and quickly started shoving items into his inventory at a fevered pace. Alec hadn't realized until now just how much stuff he had crammed into his inventory in the heat of the moment he felt like a hoarder and vowed to thin out his inventory and find a use or a useful person for all the extra items he had lying around. Alec quickly tapped his heavy armor and equipped his Vanquisher Shoulder Armor. Next he reached out and touched his shield Mirror's Embrace and watched as the area around his forearm shimmered and wavered before it appeared strapped firmly to his forearm. Next he reached out and tapped his Axe of Rending and waited while it appeared clenched within his fist. Finally he tapped his Luck Stone and dropped it into his Battle Ready Items list and closed his inventory standing up and turning toward the sound of heavy rushing boot steps with a scowl upon his face and fierce gleam within his eyes.

As Alec finished storing and equipping his gear he heard two pair of heavy booted foot steps quickly approaching his location. He had known that the crashing of the gate would alert his captors and bring them down upon him and he was ready. As he strode forward quickly Alec rolled his shoulders in anticipation of the fight to come as two "Bandit Guards" came around the corner ahead at a dead run one handed spears held tightly in their hands. As the Bandit Guards charged in Alec stopped and swung his serrated battle axe out at the leading guard who easily side stepped the swing and lunged forward stabbing his spear at Alec as his companion followed suite. Both spears glanced off Alec's heavy armor to open tiny slices in his arms which his Battle Healing nearly instantly stitched together as Alec dropped low swinging his shield around and slicing into and clean through both guards causing them to explode in a shower of red pixels that twinkled in the air before disappearing into nothing.

As Alec dispatched the first two Bandit Guards handily he began stalking through the cobblestone hallway of the dungeon in search of an exit or at the least more Bandit Guards to take out his aggressions on. Alec stalked forward like a giant predatory beast in search of it's prey as he made his way through the halls searching of anyway out of this prison. Alec turned down the hallway the set of Bandit Guards had come from and quickly found a tiny guard room with a shoddy wooden table covered in discarded mugs and playing cards and a small lamp as well a pair of rickety stools laid over turned on their sides as if the quards had been roused quickly by his escape. "Sleeping on the job." Alec grumbled bitterly at the sight before him as he shook his head in disgust at their lack of discipline and sense of duty.

Alec contiued to move through the Bandits prison stalking the hallways like a monstrous caged predator in search of its next victims. Alec found hallway after hallway and more unused cells but found no sign of an exit and that raised his ire even more as he continued to stalk about the halls thumping heavily on the flagstones as he continued his search for and exit or more Bandits to punish for his current situation. The corridors were were dark and shadowed and Alec's heavy booted footsteps echoed ahead and behind him as he stomped about not caring one iota for stealth or secrecy. He didn't want to hide he wanted to be found so he could punish more of these Bandits for making the mistake of taking him prisoner and bringing him to this dungeon of theirs. Yes he would hint them down and make them pay he thought to himself as he turned down yet another hall and continued in search of more Bandits playing at Guards.

Alec contiued to storm his way through the underground hallways of the Bandit's prison in search of a way or at the very least more Bandits to punish for their role in acosting him and kidnapping him to this location. As Alec proceeded through the hallways filled with righteous indignation and vengeful wrath in his wake Alec heard the sound of more feet stomping his way. His scowl deepened and the fierce fire in his eyes burned brighter as the sound of two pairs of boots became distinct and grew louder as the pair approached, Alec too sped up his pace as he ran towards the approaching sound. As Alec and the Bandit Guards charged towards each other at a near dead run Alec swung down with his serrated battle axe but the leading Bandit Guard deftly dodged out if the way and retaliated by stabbing at Alec with his spear as the second Bandit Guard too thrust his spear at the overlarge mountain of a man before him. Alec easily shifted his shield back and forth knocking both Bandits spear tips harmlessly to the sides and away from himself as their tips struck the walls to the side of Alec sparking off the rock surface.

This pair of "Bandit Guards" were proving more elusive than the last pair but that was fine Alec thought to himself as he raised his shield before him in a defensive stance and brought his Axe of Rending up over his shoulder ready to swing as soon as the Bandit Guards came within range of his serrated battle axe. As Alec squared off against the two Bandit Guards in the narrow flagstone hallway he stood patiently and awaited their attacks. As the first Bandit Guard moved forward Alec swung his Axe of Rending down but the Bandit Guard side stepped the swing and lunged in spear point leading the way as his companion followed closely behind him. As both the Bandit Guards spear tips short forward Alec expertly shifted his shield tight and left to block their thrusts and redirected their spear tips into the walls to either side of him instead of his body where they were aimed.

This pair of Bandit Guards were proving to be quite agile Alec thought to himself as he continued to battle them in the constrained flagstone hallway of what he could only assume was their abandoned prison hide out. Alec was finding this hallway very constricting for the fight. It was certainly affording him an added advantage on defense minimizing the Bandit Guards into only attacking from the front so it was easier to defend but that limited his chances to use his shield to best advantage it redirecting damage back on to his opponents. As he stood with his shield raised and his Axe of Rending held ready he awaited the pairs movement to attack. Finally the first Bandit Guard moved forward and Alec swung but his swing went wide and the Bandit ducked causing Alec to miss horribly and nearly fall as he staggered to regain his footing. The Bandits thrust their spears forward at the large floundering man. Alex brought his shield up to knock the first thrust high and away. But the second skilled off his armor before digging a tiny gouge in his side that healed together almost as soon as the spear tip exited his body. Alec swung his shield around and sliced through the Bandit with his saw bladed shield as he dropped to a knee finally catching jus balance and preparing to finish off the remaining Bandits Guard in the next few moments.

Alec squared off with the one remaining Bandit Guard. The large man brought his shield up before him in a defensive posture as he raised his Axe of Rending up over his shoulder prepared to swing at his first possible chance. Alec stood his ground patiently awaiting the Bandit Guard to make his move and open himself up to Alec before he struck. As the Bandit Guard moved forward Alec swung down with his serrated edged Battle Axe from above his shoulder at the lone remaining Bandit Guard. As his axe head swung down the Bandit Guard stepped to the side narrowly avoiding Alec's powerful strike. As the Bandit Guard came back to center he stabbed out with his spear glancing off Alec's heavy armor and opening a tiny cut in Alec's arm which caused Alec's Battle Healing to kick in neat instantly knitting the wound closed and healing all his damage as Alec swung his saw bladed shield around and tore into the Bandit Guard causing him to explode in a shower of red pixels that rained down before disappearing into nothing as Alec contiued forward through the Bandit's dungeon.

Alec finished off the most recent pair of Bandit Guards as he continued to make his way through the underground labyrinthine maze of flagstone hallways and unoccupied cells as he searched for a way out of this maze. As he made his way through the hallway after hallway he quickly tapped his Battle Ready Items and equipped his Luck Stone. So far these Bandit Guards had proven very hard to hit with his Axe of Rending so why not try and improve his overall luck in trying to escape this Warren of halls and rooms as he continued forward looking back and forth as he went. Alec contiued to follow the flagstone hallway further and further not knowing if he was heading in the direction of an exit or deeper into the blackened heart of the Bandits abandoned dungeon and most likey castle or fort above on the surface. As Alec contiued his forward progress he searched everywhere for a set of stairs or an exit or any break from the monotony of the underground hallways that all looked identical as Alec searched for his route to freedom.

Alec contiued to stalk the halls looking for any sign of an exit that he could find but still he had found nothing. This prison or dungeon or whatever it was was certainly built to discourage easy escape Alec thought to himself as he continued to take hallway after hallway and pass cell after cell in search of away out of his current predicament. As Alec contiued to walk he began to wonder how many other Player's this group had managed to capture before him as he sought his exit from this seemingly endless labyrinth of halls and cells. As he continued his search for an exit Alec stopped to check several of the wooden chests outside some of the other cells in this dungeon I'm the faint hope of finding something useful or maybe some long forgotten treasure inside one of the but as Alec had suspected they were all empty either picked clean by the Bandit Guards or never having stored anything before as Alec heard booted feet running his way he took up a ready stance and awaited their arrival.

These Bandit Guards had proven very elusive so far so instead of wasting his energy futility swing his Axe of Rending around and missing time and time again Alec kept his Luck Stone equipped and slipped it into one of his pockets for safe keeping as slid his feet apart and raised his shield readying it to defend against the charging pair of Bandit Guards headed his way. As the Bandit Guards rushed in spears held out before their charge Alec bent his knees and readied himself to defend. The leading Bandit Guard rushed in and expertly stabbed out with his spear skidding the tipped off Alec heavy armor before slicing into his arm with a tiny cut. The Bandit Guard lunged in a retreated too quickly for Alec to respond with his shield as his Battle Healing knitted the tiny cut back together as if had never been. As the second Bandit Guard lunged in his spear tip glanced off Alec's heavy armor as well opening a tiny cut in his other arm that Alec's Battle Healing also repaired as Alec dropped his shoulder and swung his shield up slicing through the Bandit Guard causing it to explode in a shower of red pixels.
