This quest takes place on Floor 6

This quest is not repeatable

A mysterious waterfall, named The Waterfall of the Sage, is said to call players to it, giving them a feeling of complete relaxation upon arriving. Several flat topped rocks lay in front of the waterfall as seats for all who wish to attempt and understand the waterfall's secrets. It is said that occasionally one will open their eyes to find themselves in empty space, sometimes its an endless white space, or a never ending pitch black void, or even an endless field of flowers as it depends on how player's inner self is built. Here one's deepest thoughts can be heard echoing in the distance. A shadow like being with the appearance of a featureless human being appearing. Its size and shape similar to that of the one lucky enough to venture into the empty space, it simply points at you as a bright and disturbingly large smile appears on upon what seems to be its face.

Here four doors present themselves behind the shadow like creature, each one custom made to the player in design possibly depicting a symbol or image with significance to them. The figure lowers its hand and signals the player to enter the doors at their own pace. Upon choosing a door you  must face your inner demons and prove your might, each demon proving more difficult than the one before. When entering the doors an entirely new room is found, each one's layout depending on the demon being faced. After a demon is defeated the player will exit the room and can rest before engaging the next one, if you are incapable of continuing however your mind will begin to unravel and your fears will cast you out of the space and back into reality causing the quest to fail. Failing will not only cost you the rewards but can even cost a person's mind, or at the very least part of it.

Alec awoke with a start his heart racing and a stabbing pain in his head. Something wasn't right he thought to himself as he blinked clutching his bald head in both his large thick hands. The pain was overwhelming and blotted out all thought as looked about himself feverishly like an animal cornered by a predator. The pain was so intense he couldn't even register where he was. He was trapped, cornered, caged he had to escape! He needed to escape! Alec burst upright and with a heroic surge of energy he burst into a Sprint and ran through the cave he found himself in.

Humphrey lay sprawled out on the floor enjoying an afternoon nap when Alec his friend bolted upright from his nap and began running for the door that led to the outside of their cave, their home. With a startled growl the bear cub lumbered up but by the time he got to the door to their cave Alec was no where to be seen. The fresh falling snow covered his tracks instantly leaving Humphrey with no way to track his friend. Humphrey let out a loud growl that ended in a pained howl as he stood in the opening of their cave waiting for his friend to return and worrying every moment he didn't.

Alec crashed and careened through the cold snow filled land that was the Fourth Floor of Aincrad with no knowledge of where he was or what he was doing as the pain continued to stab at his head permeating his existence and taking away all concept of focused thought. All the large muscled man knew was he hurt and he must flee though he knew not where, he knew nothing more, not his name, not his location, not his actions. Pain and flee was his world as he burst through snow drifts and plowed through the falling snow howling like a wild animal as he sought escape from the pain that was his everything. The large man bounced off trees and shattered bushes as he careened wildly and uncontrollably through the world he neither saw nor experienced in his mad dash to try and escape or outrun the pain that was all he knew.

Alec crashed and ran slamming into and through objects that lay in his path with no knowledge or comprehension of their existence there was only the pain breaking him into pieces, shattering his sense of self destroying him utterly and completely.....that and his need to escape and flee but escape was impossible and fleeing was useless but the oversized crazed man knew nothing of that all he knew was the pain destroying him and the overwhelming need to free himself from it. Alec bolted as a wild animal bursting through the open front gate of the town of Snowfrost catching his toe on a rut in the road and tripping, falling, tumbling crashing flat onto the cold hard ground of the street but still the large heavily muscled man felt non of it realized non of it experienced non of it. His world as he knew it was darkness and pain and overwhelming fear.

The large crazed man scrambled to his feet in the slippery snow covered road slipping and sliding as he slammed into computer generated and controlled non player characters knocking them sprawling flat on the ground crashing through them and sending them flying like bowling pins in every direction as the careened and bolted through the snow covered hard packed streets of the rustic little village of Snowfrost heading somewhere but with no concious knowledge or choice in where his body took him. He was a slave to the excruciating pain that was ripping his mind, body, soul and spirit apart shredding them all till nothing remained as he fled like a crazed animal without thought or reason or purpose. Fear and escape and pain were his only purpose his only reality his only anything they were him and he was them and there was nothing else. The large man vaulted up a series of stone steps landing flat on his chest and skidding to a stop at the center. A sound escaped his lips and throat bellowed and unintelligible.

There was a flash of light and the large heavily muscled man was gone in a instant from the teleportation pad as if he'd never even been there. Life in the town of Snowfrost began to put itself back together and the passing of the enraged beast of a man was quickly brushed aside and forgotten as if it had never happened, within moments of his disappearance it was as if he had never even been there today. The computer generated and controlled non player characters reassumed their usual roles and life continued on. Within minutes of the large man's passing all life in Snowfrost was back to normal as if it had never been disrupted in the first place and no one was any bit the wiser. Life continued computer controlled characters continued their preprogrammed lives and recited their preprogrammed lines and held their preprogrammed conversations and lived their preprogrammed lives oblivious to the disruption that had just occurred.

There was another flash of light almost symoltaniously on a different floor within the virtual prison world known as Aincrad followed by a wordless roar of pain and anguish as the giant of a man burst to his feet and bolted into a sprint of wild reckless abandon. As in the town of Snowfrost on the Fourth Floor the oversized dervish of a man crashed into and through computer generated and controlled non player characters sending them sprawling to the ground and careening off of nearby buildings as he left dazed and prone computer generated and controlled people in his wake. The town of Krycim on the Sixth Floor of the virtual prison world known better as Aincrad was in now way ready for the devistation that had just arrived and would disappear almost as quickly as it arrived in their midst. The dervish was Alec and chairs and wreckage were left in the wake of his passing.

The oversized enraged beast of a man hurtled through the streets of the town of Krycim leaving computer controlled people strewn in his wake as he bolted through the streets of the town headed in the most direct route possible for the main gate that led into the jungle beyond. The man had no concious thought of his destination or route he was taking he was only concious of pain, overwhelming all consuming pain that and a feral need to flee and escape the pain. Alec crashed his way out the main gate and into the jungle beyond still not stopping or slowing in the slightest as his subconscious fight or flight instincts overwhelmed his concious thought and triggered a purely animalistic need to escape the inescapable pain that threatened to destroy him completely. There was no that for the giant of a man named Alec there was simply unfathomable pain and feral desire to escape but neither were to be his as he crashed through the jungle ripping a path of devistation.

The crazed man charged through the forest smashing through underbrush and colliding into and bouncing off trees as he bolted like a terror filled animal through the lush verdant jungle of Floor Six. Finally the man burst free of the jungle into a small clearing that housed a crystal clear pond with a soothing waterfall surrounded by various smooth stones. The man burst through the wall of jungle panting and heaving and gulping for air as he lumbered forward crashing to the ground stop one of the flat smooth stones one arm flailing forward to splash into the crystal clear pool leaving delicate ripples to cascade outward from where his finger tips draped resting amid the cool clear water. The man's head fell forward his cheek resting against the smooth cool surface of the rock as he let out a deep long sigh before succumbing to unconsciousness his eye lids fluttering closed.

Alec blinked. What happened? He thought to himself. Where am I? Last he knew Alec had lain down on his couch to take an afternoon nap. Now he was....laying on the floor? He thought to himself as he placed his hands upon the cool hard ground and pushed up as he gathered his feet under him and stood up. This definitely wasn't his cabin. What was this place? He the large man thought as he looked around bewildered. He seemed to be standing in a cast empty expanse of nothing. The ground he was standing on was hard like stone but seemed to have a slight shimmer and a ripple effect was spreading out from him like the ripples on a pond when you threw a rock into it. There seemed to be a faint light illuminating the area but it had no source that Alec could see. For all intents and purposes Alec seemed to be no where at all.

"HELLO?!?" the large man bellowed out into the nothingness. Not even an echo returned as if absorbed. Where ever he was it was the big empty, a void, an utter and complete lack of anything, it was in essence Nothingness. As Alec continued to slowly turn taking in the sheer amount of nothing surrounding him he began to wonder what had happened, how had he gotten here, where was here, was there any way out of here? The questions tumbled one over another in a growing mass of unanswered questions. Alec began to turn faster and faster spinning and spinning in a circle like a top. Finally Alec stopped his turning standing alone amid the nothing. Perplexed and now slightly dizzy the large man stood gulping large lung fulls of air as he heaved and fought to calm his racing heart and pounding pulse. "HELLO?!?" Alec bellowed out again. "IS THERE ANYONE THERE?!? HELLO?!?"

Suddenly as Alec continued his turn he stopped and froze. The nothing had changed now in front him within the nothing stood a being made of shadows. The humanoid form stood roughly of a size and shape as Alec but it had no physical features other than an oversized muscular form. The being had an oversized muscular frame that was a mirror image of Alec's own but where a face should have been was merely a dark flat shadowed surface. As Alec looked closer he noticed that the darkness was not pure and that there were aberrant shades and colors within the shadowed depths. Alec spotted a shade of blue drift by, then a streak of red streaked through, next a whirl of green, a flash of black all these lay within the being of shadow that stood before Alec and had he not looked deeper he would never have spotted them. Alec stood facing the being of shadow and the being of shadow stood facing him, face to face the pair stood.

"What is this place?" Alec asked the shadow person standing before him. "Where am I? Who are you?" But the shadow form standing before Alec said not a word. "Why am I here?" Alec asked louder this time as his agitation at the whole situation began to rise. But still the form that looked like a shadowed indistinct mirror image of Alec stood silently in front of him not moving or making a sound. Alec let a growl escape his throat as he began to swell with irritation at the entire situation he currently found himself stuck in. Alec raised a hand in a threatening manner and opened his mouth to speak again but as the sound stated to escape his throat the shadowed form raised one of its arms and pointed directly at Alec. "Me?.?" Alec said in bewilderment. "What about me?" But still the shadowed form said not a word but suddenly Alec noticed something about his nothingness had changed. Suddenly Alec noticed that surrounding himself and the shadow figure stood four sturdy wooden doors.

As Alec glanced around himself turning to observe all four sturdy wooden doors he observed that all the door appeared to me of a solid piece of thick polished wood. Possibly a cherry or similar type of wood due to the dark coloration with a slight reddish tint to the wood. The only difference between the three identical doors was an image engraved on each one just short of face height. One of the door had an upside down heart carved into the door. Another had a hand held fingers open and splayed with a bright red dyeing to the hand engraved into the doors surface. A third door had one half of the theater logo the sad theatrical mask engraved into the door and was dyed a light off white color. And the final door Alec observed in his rotation had a horrific depiction of a demonic face carved into the door. The image sent a shiver down Alec's spine as he gazed upon it causing him to quickly divert his eyes away from the image.

Alec took another turn to observe the doors but other than their appearance nothing had changed about his surroundings. As Alec completed his turn he came back face to face with the shadowy creature that was standing amid the doors along with Alec. "So?!?" Alec asked heatedly of the shadowy image. "What now?" But still the shadowy form said nothing. "Speak gods damn you!!" Alec bellowed at the shadow form but still he was unable to elicit any form of response from the apparition. This was becoming infuriating to the large man. He didn't know where he was. He didn't know how he got here. He didn't know if he was still even in the game or some far corner of cyberspace or what was even going on right now. Alec took one forceful step towards the shadow being when its features suddenly cracked and a gigantic oversized smile broke upon its face. The smile was enormous nearly comically so if it weren't for his disturbing it was to witness as the white glowing smile spread and spread till in nearly absorbed the shadow creatures entire face. The change in situation caused Alec to falter in his advance and retreat back the step he had taken. As the being once again raised an arm and pointed at Alec, or was it pointing at Alec really or was it pointing at the doors? "The doors?" Alec asked in nearly a stammer. "You want me to go into the doors?" And with that the shadow being disappeared allowing Alec to exhale deeply a huge breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding as he glanced around at the four doors surrounding him again.

With a deep sigh Alec turned and faced a door at random and took a deliberate step forward till he stood directly in front of the door where he took the chance to inspect it closer. The door had a beautiful deep grain with a dark coloration and red tints hinting at some form of cherry or cherry hybrid wood. There was an engraving carved into the door of an upside down heart. Alec had no idea what that meant. A heart signified love was an upside down heart the opposite of love? What was the opposite of love hate? Alec thought to himself as his fingers traced the deep carving on the door and his mind wandered contemplating the door, the engraving and what it all could mean. Well he wouldn't get any answers standing here staring at a door he'd have to go through the door to find out what was on the other side he thought to himself as he reached down and grasped the metal door handle and twisted the knob pulling the door open. Alec could see nothing but a black abyss of darkness beyond the door. With a deep breath to calm his nerves and steel his resolve Alec stepped forward into the darkess and disappeared.

As Alec's vision returned he blinked his eyes as lights formed and became outlines which came into focus as images which made Alec freeze in place. (What the F?!?) Alec stood in his backyard before his grill with a spatula in his hand. Before him his son Danny was running around the back yard playing with the family dog Scout. Scout was a monstrous black lab Newfoundland mix with long shaggy ultra thick black fur. The dog was gigantic but didn't have a mean bone in its body it was a mountain of muscle fur and love. Alec had never seen a goofier more loving dog than Scout.  As he stared dumbfounded at the surreal scene before him he never even noticed the hand that came to rest in the small of his back until a voice that sounded of angels whispered into his ear. "What's wrong dear?" No....it couldn't be, could it? He never dated to dream he'd hear that voice again but it's what he fought for yearned for gave everything for the chance to hear it again. Alec turned and there before him was the live of his life the woman who made all others pale in comparison. There stood his wife Gwen.

Alec was too stunned to move. He merely stood there slack jawed staring vacantly at the love of his life, the mother of his child, his wife. Alec had no words and couldn't have formed had he had any to say. Gwen let out a high pitched laugh like the sound of bells tinkling. "What is up with you?" She asked with a light laugh. "Hello.....earth to Alec....come in Alec." She asked with another light laugh. "What's wrong?" "N..n...nu... nothing's wrong." Alec stammered as he stared at his wife. "Nothing could ever be wrong when I have you by my side." Alec returned as he quickly took his wife into a deep embrace and hugged her as if it had been an eternity, which it truly felt like to Alec. "Wow there." Gwen replied with yet another light life. "What's that for?" Gwen asked as Alec picked her up in the hug and spun here around causing her break out in peals of laughter which was music to his ears.

Alec set her down and took her beautiful face in both his hands and stared deeply at the only woman he ever had or ever would love. He drank in the features of her soft smooth face he stated into the deep blue recesses of her eyes drinking in every feature of her beautiful face memorizing every feature he already knew as if it were the first time he set his eyes upon the most perfect woman in the world. "What is up with you?" His wife asked with yet another laugh. "It's like you haven't seen me in ages." His wife said. "I haven't." Alec replied breathlessly in his deep baritone rumble. "It's been years and I've fought every day to make it back to you but never dated to dream it would happen." Alec replied as he continued to stare at the love of his life. "What are you talking about silly?" Gwen replied. "I just went inside to grab you a beer like you asked for a minute ago."

"A beer? What?" Alec stammered in confusion.

"Yes. A beer. Are you feeling ok dear?" She asked a touch of worry entering her voice as he beautiful forehead creased in concern. "Do you need to lay down?"

"No. No I'm fine honey." Alec replied with a deep sigh as his own concern began to trouble him and he looked around again. What was going on here? Why was he at home with his family in what was his idea of a perfect day? This is what he wanted more than anything else in life but he desperately feared he'd never gave this again. What was happening?

Then the world shattered. His wife Gwen, his son Danny and their family dog Scout suddenly froze in place. Their forms began to stutter and twitch as if glitching before the shattered and exploded into a shower of pixels that ripped a terror and despair laden scream from Alec's very soul of "NNNNNOOOOOOO!!!!!!" Suddenly there wavered into existence a hulking brutish shape standing in Alec's back yard. The bipedal form stood easily half again as tall as Alec and was a mottled of black and white flashes and strobes that jarred the senses and brought an unexplained and unrestrained sense of pure terror sheerly from witnessing it. "What....what are you?" Alec heaved and stammered as he stood atop his deck fighting the primordial desire to flee this terrifying form that stood before him. The hulking form stood in the center of Alec's back yard and threw back it's enormous head and let out a spine chilling laugh that sounded like mails being drug across a chalk board.

"AAHHH, HHHAAS HHHAAAA HHHHAAAA!!!! YES!!!! FEAR ME!!!! YOU ARE WEAK!!! YOU FEAR YOU NOT STRONG!!!!! YOU FEAR YOU WILL FAIL!!!!! YOU FEAR YOU WILL NEVER SEE YOUR PATHETIC FAMILY AGAIN!!!!! YES!!!! I......AM.......FEAR!!!! FEAR ME!!!!!" The monstrous being in Alec's back yard bellowed. The sound of its voice was even worse than its laugh and the pure unadulterated feeling of terror flooded Alec's entire being and it took ever ounce of his resolve to not flee the creature standing in his back yard. "YES!!!!! FLEE!!!!! RUN AWAY!!!!!! FEAR ME!!!!!!" The being of fear roared at the large man who did not appear so large now, dwarfed as he was by the flashing being of black and white. "NO!" Alec bellowed back at the form. "I won't fear you! You don't scare me! I'm not afraid I won't make it back to my family because I WILL make it home! I will fight every damn creature here to see my wife and son again. And YOU certainly won't stand in my way!" Alec roared as he took a step forward. Suddenly Alec was clad in his battle gear from the game. His Vanquisher Shoulder Armor was secured to his upper body, his shield Mirror's Embrace was strapped to his forearm and his Forearm Axe was securely strapped to his other. "Ohhhhhh. You're gonna get it now." Alec growled as he stalked forward toward the oversized form. "You tried to stand between me and my family. And now you're going pay!" Alec finished as he bent his legs and lept into the air easily clearing his deck railing and landing before the black and white flashing form ready to fight.
