Bahr wasn't exactly sure what he was doing on the 19th floor, but it sure was a cool place. It was easily the tallest floor he had laid eyes on so far, with towering mountains in the distance and the ceiling only barely visible between the clouds that wafted through. The air was crisp and carried the smell of decaying leaves, which were occasionally swept through the area on sharp gusts of wind that brought the chill of autumn down his spine. A gigantic rift in the center of the floor opened up to the floor below just outside of Ralberg, the main settlement he had been teleported into upon first reaching the floor. Truly it was beautiful, and different from any floor he had visited thus far.

Wanting to see what sorts of monsters spawned here, Bahr was easily attracted to the labyrinth at the center of the floor. Reaching it required crossing the ornate stone structure that bridged the gap between Ralberg and the rest of the floor, which had fallen into abysmal disrepair and seemed barely stable enough to cross. Bahr did so without so much as a second thought, though, knowing that the programmers wouldn't actually put something in the game that would kill players simply for leaving a city.

The labyrinth was as expansive as it was awe-inspiring, its stony twists and turns causing Bahr to get lost without really meaning to. He didn't particularly mind, given how beautiful the area was. As long as he kept his wits about him, he could spend as long as he needed to there without much trouble. That is unless a mob spawned and ruined all of the fun.

Without any warning, a humanoid creature lunged from the shadows toward Bahr and swung with its barbaric blade, Bahr only barely managing to unsheath his own weapon in time to deflect the attack. Without taking much time to examine the monster, Bahr quickly charged up his blade and laid into it with six rapid strikes, the final smacking the monster away and forcing it to thwack into a nearby wall.

Heavy steps and chains clanging could be heard in the vicinity of Macradon as he traversed the lands of the 19th floor. His heavy armor, clashing upon itself with each step, the chains holding down his cerberus for it not to go into a frenzy at whatever that seemed to be alive. The menacing aura for monsters that Macradon and Belphegor emitted made most of the cursed fauna and humanoids flee, only the strongest of the present would dare to just stay back, but no one seemed to be willing to attack the menace that was the ex-frontliner. The only reason Macradon was here today was to gather materials for his shop, not really much else, since the mob drops of this floor was usually lackluster, and didn’t really appeal to him in any way, just getting material the “natural” way was what made him feel at ease, instead of using up all his energy on destroying every monster that dared cross its path with the knight. "Seems like this will be a looooong day, Bel." Macradon said through the visor of his helmet to his familiar.

Back Rush was the sort of Sword Art that was meant to be used as a counter, but seeing as his opponent was stunned, Bahr was going to need to improvise. He dashed toward the humanoid husk, his sword illuminating with pent up energy and emanating its signature Sword Art whistle. Once within range, Bahr jumped back first against the Forgotten, placing his sword against his back. The momentum pushed the creature back against the wall and the sword's blade into it, and Bahr grabbed the hilt of his weapon and ripped it forward over his head. It gashed through the enemy and clanked loudly against the ground in front of him as the monster shrieked, its harrowing cry a peaceful melody to Bahr's ears. He dashed forward to put some distance between himself and the mob as its stun expired, looking back over his shoulder and taunting the creature.

"Guess what I heard about you Floor Nineteen mobs was all fluff - you don't seem so scary to me."

The Forgotten didn't reply, because it was just a mob.

The old ancient lands of the 19th floor wasn’t much to talk about, it looked like ancient Rome, but taken over by vegetation. It was quite the druidic sight, nature taking back its territory. Macradon would walk along the now moss covered walls of antiquity, remembering the fight they had with Tanos, that giant  stone golem that stood taller than anything he had ever seen in this game, it was quite something. Macradon would crouch down to touch the ground “It has been quite a while since that boss fight … it was even me who found the boss room through the maze. Good ol’ times on the frontlines.” Macradon thought and walked off towards where the big mobs would usually spawn and roam, since there wasn’t much here for him to battle if it were to battle. Walking with his Cerberus in check, Macradon would draw his sword just in case and activate his passive ability <Parry>, for when something would attack, he would be able to quickly think of a solution in the time his parry would kick off.

The Forgotten, now no longer trapped by its stunned status, clumsily lunged forward toward Bahr in a pitiful manner, presumably attempting to attack the crimson-cloaked warrior while he still had his back turned. Bahr was ready, of course, and spun around with his sword charged, slashing the creature and shoving it back into the wall once more.

"Now, now, Fido, I know you're eager to play, but that was just plain rude," he taunted, twirling his sword whimsically with one hand. "Tell you what, I'll be a good sport and give you another shot," he teased, turning his back against the mob once more. "Come on, don't be shy now. I'm yours for the taking." It was a lie, of course, but Bahr and, presumably, the Forgotten both knew this. Although, Bahr wasn't sure how much was actually going through that monster's thick, neanderthalian skull. For all he knew, it could just be thinking 'braaaiiiins,' which was a humorous thought.

Macradon kept on walking with Belpehgor besides him, the duo was looking for Tier Two materials, but it didn’t seem to bear any fruits, they’ve been walking for quite some time now, but nothing seems to show itself to them. Turning over rocks, pushing down pillars, nothing, no material could be found like this. There was something in the air, the tension of fighting, somewhere close, but Macradon couldn't exactly pinpoint it, all he could do was to listen for the sounds of Sword Arts being activated. With an average walking pace, Macradon and Belphegor would ignore their material problems and go for the sounds, either some advanced monster had spawned, or some players were doing something up here. This was the 19th floor, it wasn’t a place for people to go farm unless they were frontliners, so maybe he would meet one of his former frontliner colleagues up here. Eager to strike up a conversation, Macradon walked towards the general direction.

Although it seemed reluctant to do so, this mob was apparently compelled to attack anything that had its back turned against it, regardless of whether or not it was obviously a stupid idea. It charged forth again, Bahr charged his weapon again, and the pair repeated the exact same scenario. Bahr spun, slamming his blade into the stomach of the creature and stopping it before it could reach him. After the ferocious slash, he planted his boot against the monster's chest and shoved it back against the wall once more. It groaned weakly upon impact.

"Dunno about you, but I'm getting tired of this. Wanna wrap it up?" he inquired nonchalantly as he examined his blade, tapping his foot impatiently.

The Forgotten did not respond, because again, it was just a mob. Why did Bahr always talk to these things? Perhaps it was simply a consequence of his remote nature, largely cut off from human contact.

The sounds kept on emitting and Macradon kept on following, but the voice he began hearing did not seem familiar. Macradon would wave a hand at Belphegor and gesture to all three heads that they should try to stay silent. While Macradon would begin to slowly approach the are, Macradon would activate his <Hide> skill to try and get a closer look of who was fighting up here on the 19th floor that Macradon didn’t know, it intrigued him, but it also worried him, maybe someone was in danger. Rushing up to the source of the sounds, trying to stay hidden in the buildings while also trying to move as quickly as possible to see what the source was. As he slowly began to get close to the sounds, Macradon would observe a male player, fighting some of the corrupted local “life”. It didn’t seem like he was having trouble, so Macradon would just keep to himself for now.

Bahr shot forward and plunged the tip of his blade straight through the creature, pinning it to the wall for the last miserable seconds of its life as its HP depleted to zero. It exploded into a cloud of blue triangular pixels which slowly dissipated, and a loot panel populated in front of Bahr. He examined the contents of the drop with glee. The trinket was dismissible, but the extra col was always a welcome sight.

While he was distracted looking at the window, another similar creature spawned nearby and began shambling toward him. He noticed it out of the corner of his eye while it was still quite a ways out. He casually dismissed the window and checked its info.

THE REMEMBERED
LVL: ???

"UM!?" Bahr scrambled to remove his sword from the wall, planting both feet against the flat structure and heaving the sword with all his might. Eventually, he managed to dislodge it and fall back on his rump, quickly jumping to his feet and backing off warily. He had never encountered a mod that had hidden values before - ever. Just how powerful was this thing? "E-Easy, fella! I know you're probably upset about your friend, but you gotta understand! I, uh, needed the col!" He couldn't bear the facade for long. It wasn't worth talking to a computer generated monster anyways. "Ah, screw it!" he spat as he readied his blade, "I'm not afraid of the likes of you. Come and get me!"

Macradon observed the man, the unfamiliar man, someone he hadn’t heard of, but that wouldn’t really be that big of a thing, since Macradon hasn’t been on the frontliners for a while, so maybe many new frontliners had appeared without his knowledge. With close observation, though, Macradon quickly saw the flaws in the man's fighting style, it didn’t seem to be like most frontliners, not fully polished, not really there to properly defend himself on the frontlines. Keeping close to the buildings, Macradon kept watching as a stronger monster appeared, seemed like one that was attracted to Macradon’s presence, something that seemed to outclass the man, from what Macradon could see, just a bit, he didn’t know how bad this could go, though. Macradon would smile and chuckle from the last remark, he had to give him credit for his fearlessness, Macradon would smile, but also be at the ready to hop in if anything should go haywire.

In a flash, the humanoid husk was upon him. Bahr hadn't been anticipating the speed, and it managed to rake its barbaric weapon into him with relative ease, the slash spreading across his entire torso. Through pure instinct, Bahr charged his weapon and called out as he ripped into the mob with six retaliatory strikes of his own, the creature's health bar barely moving at all. With the creature now stunned, Bahr had an opportunity to leap back and assess the situation.

His eyes widened as he viewed his stats. His energy was depleted to the point that he only had one or two more good Sword Arts in him, and his HP had been reduced to less than half after a single hit. Meanwhile, only a sliver of HP had been depleted from the opponent's health bar. Bahr steeled himself and set his jaw as he gazed upon his most intimidating adversary yet. He had the option of running, but he wasn't a quitter. If he were to die here, so be it. It was a fitting punishment for being so foolishly cocky and tackling a floor beyond his capabilities.

Yep, something didn’t check out, the player was not ready to fight on this floor, at least not if there was a chance of them meeting a monster like this. Macradon would click his tongue and go in for an attack. As he approached from his hidden state, Macradon noticed something, the husk of a former human … was alerted by his presence, even if it didn’t fully see him, it reacted, swaying to the side before the player had cut into it, now stunned, ripe for the picking. Out of the shadows, a three headed hound, now covered in blistering flames of hell, pounced upon the zombie like creature with all its heads, pinning down the single creature as Macradon came rushing out of the darkness he was hidden in as well. With a single cleave from his Sword Art, Macradon would drop down the health of the monster to the yellow. Readying for whatever might happen now, Macradon would look over at the player and talk through the visor of his helmet, somewhat making it sound metallic as it exited through the slits of his helmet “I hope you’re alright, let me take care of this one and get back to safety, this floor doesn’t seem to be for you yet.” Macradon said and got into position to attack again.

Out of nowhere, some armored punk flew from the shadows and hit the creature for... Oh, holy crap! How much damage was that!?

"Woah! You just- and it just- uh, wow!" Bahr was speechless. Was he in the presence of a god?

“I hope you’re alright, let me take care of this one and get back to safety, this floor doesn’t seem to be for you yet. the man said coolly through the visor of his helmet, his voice adopting a metallic tinge as a result. Bahr set his jaw at the insinuation that he wasn't strong enough for this floor yet. Ultimately, the man wasn't wrong. The first mob that Bahr had stumbled upon and trounced so easily must have been a fluke. But that didn't mean Bahr was going to just sit back and do nothing!

"No way! I'm not taking a back seat like some sorta damsel in distress!" he retorted as he motioned to charge his blade with another Sword Art. But something was wrong. His arm simply froze in place, as though caught in a vice and unable to move. He didn't have enough Energy to perform the Sword Art he had selected. "Damn it!"

Macradon would audibly snicker at the player’s remark but quickly reverted his focus back on the zombie like creature. It seemed to have … seized movement, possibly stunned. Thinking back on what Macradon saw, he noticed a Fight Blade being used, that was probably what had stunned the creature. Quickly glancing to the side in the corner of his eye, Macradon thought “I guess he’s not that out of his league, at least he’s making use of his sword arts well.”. Taking in a quick breathe, Macradon got into stance and delivered yet another heavy strike while Belphegor held down the zombie and said “Alright ‘not damsel in distress’.”. With another swift movement, Macradon cleaved into the zombie, making its health drop down nearing its red zone, another hit like this would certainly. Macradon would always keep himself in a defensive stance after every sword art he landed, just in case there was any retaliation or counter attack to his brash movements.

Bahr huffed as he sheathed his sword against the small of his back, crossing his arms and leaning back against the wall of the labyrinth. It wasn't that he wasn't grateful for this guy showing up, and he would let him know that as soon as the battle was over. But it made Bahr feel like a wimp. Which, in comparison to this mob and his savior, he absolutely was.

Given the immensity of this man's strength, he was undoubtedly one of the frontliners. Bahr refused to believe that anybody except for the absolute strongest could pull off damage like that. So in that aspect, he felt a little better. Getting shown up by the strongest guys in the game wasn't something to be ashamed about, especially after having sat in the Town of Beginnings for two whole years. Bahr knew he would catch up to people like this. Eventually.

Macradon would briefly look over his shoulder, the talkative person had gone silent … was something wrong? Was this part of their plan? Was he a “Green” PK’er? With what was going on now, the player would at least see that these monsters were just barely on par with Macradon’s level and equipment, so they probably would’ve given up to do anything. With one last fell swoop, Macradon cleaved the zombie thingy in twain, leaving nothing but a bit of loot for Macradon to pick up from the encounter “Wasn’t really what I had expected of today … but ok.” Macradon mumbled for himself as the flames of Belphegor slowly began to die out. Crouching down to his familiar, Macradon would give a good rough nuzzle to all the heads as much as possible “You did a good job.” Macradon said while leaning away again. Straightening his back again, Macradon turned towards the player “Hey, what happened? Did you get fooled to go out here, or are you planning something sinister?” Macradon asked, since he wasn’t really aware of the situation. While awaiting an answer, Macradon took hos his helmet, revealing his scarlet eyes and alabaster hair.

"Nope. Just a noob who got in over his head, apparently," Bahr sighed as he stepped off of the wall, walking over to the armored man. "I'd been doing so well on the lower floors that I figured I'd head up here for a bit of a challenge. The wrong move, clearly. Won't be making that mistake again any time soon." His eyes again flickered to his health bar, narrowing when he saw how low his health had fallen. One hit. That was all it had taken to nearly reduce Bahr to azure dust. It stung to be reminded of how weak he still was in the grand scheme of things, but ultimately this had been an important lesson.

He removed his glove and extended his hand toward the knight, looking into his eyes. "Thanks for the assist. Without you, they would have needed to carry me out of here in a dustpan. The name's Bahr." He hoped the man would shake his hand, but judging by his body language, Bahr hadn't fully earned his trust yet. No surprise there, as Bahr had heard of more nefarious characters skulking around on the higher floors. Yet another hazard he had neglected in coming up here.

"Huh ..." Macradon said, reacting to the rather bland explanation sent towards him. "Well, you just gotta plan ahead. On higher floors, if you want to solo, you need mitigation. Monsters just hit too hard up here, and if you're not prepared, things go south quickly. Talking from experience." Macradon said with a slight chuckle at the last remark. He had been at too many life and death situations that were just because he was a bit too eager to fight stronger monsters, so it wasn't really like he was allowed to have the audacity to lecture someone about it. Macradon would shake his head with a smirk "No need to thank me, just doing what I pledged when I began roaming the fields of Aincrad." Macradon said and approached the player known as Bahr "I'm Macradon. Grandmaster Blacksmith on the first floor, former Vanguard Commander of the Knight of the Blood Oath, current acting leader of the Knights of the Blood Oath." Macradon said and went in for the hand shake. "I don't usually roam these floors, so you're just lucky I was here, and I don't usually fight on these floors either, I just go around and find materials here and there for my shop." Macradon said with a slight chortle.

Had Bahr heard that right? Acting leader of Knights of the Blood Oath? Seriously? Bahr froze as he shook hands, his awestruck expression apparent as he examined the man's now revealed facial features. Set jaw, crimson irises, light hair. Why, Bahr would have sworn they were related if he recognized the man. Hell, it was possible they were distant relatives, considering how far Bahr's family tree branched out. These were the floor-clearing badasses that had been leading the charge through Aincrad since the day of launch. In fact, Bahr was certain he had heard the name Macradon before. If memory served, he was literally among the strongest of the strongest players in the game.

After a few moments of examining the man's now revealed facial features, Bahr realized that he had been gripping it for too long and hastily released the knight's gauntlet from his grip. Crimson eyes, set jaw, light hair. If Bahe didn't know any better, he may have thought they see related somehow. "I'm sorry, I just... Wow. I honestly never expected to meet someone from the Knights of the Blood Oath, much less their leader. I mean, I've been a huge fan of you guys ever since I first started reading about you. You guys have been leading the charge since day one. Everyone owes you their gratitude."

After the while of what seemed to be holding hands instead of just shaking hands, Macradon would send an awkward smile towards Bahr as the other player just seemed to visually analyze Macradon. “Well, most people have met me on the first floor, but that’s usually just as the blacksmith people go to. Not that many people meet me as the acting leader of the guild anymore, nor do people meet me as a frontliner, because I really aren’t a frontliner.” Macradon said as the two let go of their intimate hand embrace. “Huh … a fan … haven’t met any of those in quite a while. I’m surprised there even are fans of the guild, guess I’m not as in check as I thought I was about the general consensus, but I’m glad to see we’re not in all bad light.” Macradon said in response to Bahr being a fan of the KoB. “Most frontliners would scoff at the idea of the KoB being strong and being a driving force, and I can’t really blame them, Heathcliffe, our founder and commander is … neglective to say the least …” Macradon said with a disappointed tone.
