Warren - Holy Sword

Warren was born in Baltimore to two loving and doting parents. His childhood wasn't very eventful. He had a city upbringing. His father was a banker and his mother was a teacher. They weren't rich, but they certainly had enough to feel comfortable. That wasn't to say that Warren's childhood was perfect. Diagnosed with a mild form of autism, Warren had trouble connecting this his peers at school. That, coupled with dyslexia, formed a wide rift between himself and his classmates from the start.

But Warren was never one to shy away from a challenge. His first hurdle was overcoming his dyslexia. It took years of special attention to equip him with the skillset necessary to manage his disability. While taking those special education classes, Warren was the subject of much ridicule from his peers. He couldn't understand why they were being so mean to him. It wasn't as if he could help it.

Soon enough, the classes ended. But the names never stopped. Horrible, mean names that followed him all through elementary and middle school. His parents did their best to help him cope, but with his atypical emotional responses, they simply couldn't truly click with him. It didn't matter what books they read or the therapists they went to. They just couldn't wrap their minds around the way his mind worked.

But puberty is a hell of a drug.

The summer following 8th Grade, the short, pudgy boy grew about three inches. It was around this time that he discovered a love for fitness. He worked out almost every day throughout that summer. He ran, he lifted weights. He even adjusted his diet according to articles he read on the internet. His parents indulged him, happy to see Warren taking a passionate interest in something that wasn't video games or other solitary interests. By the time the first day of high school rolled around, Warren was barely recognizable. He had an all-new wardrobe to accompany his new look. His former bullies tried to continue with their treatment, but more important than a fit body or a healthy diet, the summer had also helped Warren acquire one more important thing:

Confidence.

And then came the tackling of his second hurdle: his inability to really connect with other people. The stark reality was that he would probably never 100 percent click with everyone he met. But with practice, Warren learned how to be a little more extraverted. His newfound confidence allowed him to experiment socially. It was slow-going, but he was eventually able to find a system that worked for him. By his Junior year, despite all odds, Warren went from a complete social pariah to a student of middling popularity. During this time, his grades improved significantly. As it turns out, not being bullied seemed to directly correlate to better grades.

Warren graduated in the top tenth percentile of the students in his class. Because of this, he was able to get into a decent college. Thanks to his parents' responsibly setting up a college fund, Warren was able to go to school with a minimum of loans. The only problem was he didn't know what he wanted. He was cognizant enough to know that he wouldn't perform at his best with a job that had to deal with a ton of people, but he never really liked computers. With the pressure to decide a career mounting, Warren finally nailed something down that he could live with: Pharmacology.

The subject clicked well with Warren. He took to it quickly and eventually found that he really enjoyed it. Graduation was right around the corner when Warren donned the NerveGear for the first time. Like most people, he never would have done it if he knew what would happen. But now he was trapped in Aincrad. The shock of the ordeal froze him. He couldn't go outside of the city without being paralyzed by crippling fear.

Just another hurdle.

Personality
Warrenis a pretty withdrawn individual. That's not to say he can't be sociable if the situation calls for it. He just prefers to shy away from large crowds or social events. Despite the muscular physique, his behavior is a far cry from what one would expect from someone who looks like they live in a gym. He never really got into fitness for anyone's sake other than his own, so the idea that people might find him attractive his absolutely lost on him. In a word, he's quite oblivious. He goes about his daily life seemingly without a care in the world. He follows the same routine every day like clockwork. Any deviation from that routine makes him extremely uncomfortable.

Virtues
Stoic - Warren doesn't speak much. He much prefers to sit back and observe a situation. Because of this, he can provide big picture insight on a problem. That being said, he often doesn't verbalize his observations and instead prefers to deal with the problem himself.

Analytical - Due to his inherent difficulty with emotions, Warren's mind has compensated by being able to deftly analyze a situation with little difficulty. Without feelings mucking up his judgement, he can find the most efficient way to deal with something and execute it with near perfection. This can put him at odds with people sometimes. After all, the most efficient method is sometimes not the most moral one.

Calm - Warren is absolutely unflappable. It takes quite a bit to get under his skin. He can keep his cool even in the most daunting of circumstances. Someone could be in in his face, screaming bloody murder at him and he wouldn't bat an eye.

Flaws
Cold - Warren doesn't deal with emotional connections very well. It's rare to see him express any type of emotion. While this can be a good thing - like rarely getting angry - it's mostly an issue. After all, who wants to hang around someone who can count the times he's smiled on one hand?

Oblivious - Warren just doesn't notice anything going on in the background. He also doesn't notice when his actions cause tension in people. He does what he does with absolutely no concern for other people. Despite his best attempts to be more mindful of things, he often falls short.

Non-Verbal - It's not that Warren can't speak. He just doesn't. While he's learned how to be sociable when he needs to, he never really learned how to communicate effectively. He gets an idea in his mind and executes it without really communicating his plans to other people. Oftentimes, it works out. But not without a large amount of turmoil along the way.
