Yukiro walked into Lyle's shop, bearing the package Zackariah had asked him to deliver. "Pardon me! I have a delivery for Lyle!"
A balding man with a large, snow-white beard looked up from his anvil. The situation reminded Yukiro of his first quest, in which he became a blacksmith.
"A delivery?" Lyle asked with a slight Scottish accent, "Where from?"

"It was sent by Zackariah, an alchemist," Yukiro responded. He walked into the slightly small smithy. "Where should I put this?"
"Over there will do," Lyle told him, pointing across the shop to a table with barely any room. Yukiro struggled to find a good place to put the package down but did so as he found the space. Lyle Tealeaf looked Yukiro up and down. "You look like the kind of person that can help me out.," He stated, "Can you head into the field and gather three Boar Pup Tusks? You'll need to kill some boar pups to get them."
Yukiro had half-expected this man to give him a quest. Fortunately, he was right. And even better, it was a quest where he could fight rather than gather. Much better.

"I will do so. You needed three, correct?"
"Three Boar Pup Tusks. Not boar tusks."
"I shall retrieve them and return shortly."

Yukiro walked away from Lyle Tealeaf's workshop. It was a nice day, and he felt no need to rush. The sun was warm, the air was fresh, the sky was... well, the sky was a massive ceiling, but it was still a nice day.
The players were bustling around him. Once again, Yukiro felt a bit of a pang of desire to be with one of the groups, but he suppressed it. No need to ruin the day. The NPCs were also moving about him, though he never figured out where they were going or what they were doing. Maybe they were just moving around for the sack of moving around.
Yeah, that made sense.
It was soon that Yukiro realized that he was approaching the edge of the city fast. He'd be fighting boars-- boar pups, actually. Regardless, he wouldn't be able to just enjoy the weather for a while. He took a deep breath, while he still could, and exited the city.

Yukiro walked out into the field. There were boars everywhere, players fighting the boars every so often as well. A slight wind was blowing. He wanted to enjoy it, but there was work to be done. First order of business, find a boar pup.
He searched for around three minutes before finding a boar pup. It was, to no surprise, accompanied by a boar. Parent and child, Yukiro supposed. He drew his sword and positioned himself to lunge. From his experience with sword arts, his 'straight' should allow him to clear this distance. He slowly moved his sword until it triggered a sword art. The blade lunged forward, and so did Yukiro. The sword art targeted the larger boar and struck it in the shoulder. Yukiro stepped away from it as it spun, trying to counter-attack. To Yukiro's surprise, the boar pup only watched for a moment before it quickly (or as fast as a small boar can run) dashed away.

The boar pup was getting away! Yukiro wouldn't be able to find it if he let it go too far!
That said, he couldn't simply chase after it. The full-grown boar was still attacking him. Besides, he should never turn his back to an opponent. Yukiro made a quick, wide, sweeping attack, the likes of which he seemed to do a lot lately), but missed. In the motions following the attack, Yukiro paused to try and swing more accurately.
The pause mistakenly activated his sword art.
He jumped with the sword, trying to swing at the boar as he leaped past it but his attack failed to connect. Fortunately, the boar also failed to hit Yukiro. But it was a small victory with a major loss. Yukiro turned to face the boar. The boar turned to face him.
Was he gonna let the boar pup get away because he was fighting a simple boar?
He certainly hoped not.

Yukiro glanced to the side to see where the boar pup had gotten to. It was starting to get a fair distance away. That was bad for him. He didn't want to have to find another one.
Though maybe this boar pup wasn't worth the effort. He was fairly tied down with this boar, which was somewhat disappointing. It was, after all, just a boar.
The boar made a charge while Yukiro was looking away. It closed in on him fairly quickly and rammed into his shin. In what was becoming a new reflex, Yukiro kicked upwards, sending the boar into a standing position. He followed up with a fairly powerful vertical blow, which directly struck the boar. The boar collapsed but did not shatter, which was yet another disappointment for Yukiro.
Was he losing his touch? Or was this boar stronger than usual?
No, he must be losing his touch. Boars don't get that tough. He thought so, at least.

The boar ran towards Yukiro.
This is pathetic. I can beat bars easily. This is taking way to long.
Yukiro moved his right foot behind him and leaned back on it, preparing himself to spin.
I've done this many times now. It's a common activity for me at this point! I should be able to crush this easily!
Yukiro tensed his legs and loosened his arms as the boar got closer. It would be a simple motion; spinning away from the attack while responding with his own blow was never a particularly difficult maneuver.
Besides, I have more important things to do.
The boar charged past Yukiro. He turned back and away from the boar's attack, making it glide harmlessly past him. Keeping with the motion he struck out with his blade, severing the boars back tendons.
No. Wait. You can't just cut tendons in a game.
That makes it more difficult.
Regardless, the attack did a fair amount of damage. That's what counted.

Yukiro had given up on catching up with the boar pup. It was getting far enough that he couldn't quite see it anymore. He sidestepped the boar as it ran past him.
So he'd made a game for himself.
The boar's movements were getting more and more predictable. He began attempting to dodge it later and at harder angles than before just to improve his mobility. When the boar would start to charge him Yukiro would position himself in a difficult position and try to move out of the way before it hit him. Unfortunately, this also meant he wasn't able to land any meaningful hits on the boar either. Both would be put in a situation where it was increasingly hard to actually strike the other.
I do need to finish up though.
Yukiro had to admit, he was enjoying himself. Though he'd have to stop to finish this quest.
But maybe he could draw it out.

Yukiro was a little sad that he'd have to end his game so soon. The boar dodging was fun and all, but he would never finish the quest this way.
Stepping back from the boar in his usual way he made a leaping, sword art fueled thrust into the boar's back, through what would be its heart.
Of course, getting stabbed in the heart doesn't necessarily mean something dies here. It just increases the odds. Which was odd at best, but oh well.
The boar squealed and collapsed under his blade, shattering into countless polygons. Yukiro looked over his earnings. Some col (he needed that), some materials (he also needed that) and a consumable. Not bad. Not good either, but not bad.
Now, onto the quest he was supposed to be doing.
Yukiro looked around for a boar pup. He noticed several around one larger boar. A mother, probably. Which meant he knew what to hunt now.

Yukiro moved carefully. He didn't want to alarm the boar pups, nor did he want to draw the attention of the mother boar. He edged around the group, try to think of a way to draw the attention of only the boar pup. It was a long and strenuous process but he eventually figured out that if he got close enough the Boar Pups would agro to him without drawing the attention of the other mobs.
Good to know.
He slowly drew the boar pup that was focused on him further away from the group so that any noises it made wouldn't alert the other boars. That would be an unfortunate occurrence.
Soon enough the boar pup was far enough from the group that Yukiro was fairly sure there would be no repercussions to attacking it. He drew his sword and made a simple slash across the small boar's body. It died instantly. An item was added to Yukiro's inventory; a Boar Pup Tusk. Good, he was getting what he needed.

Yukiro didn't really like sneaking around. It made him feel like he was weaker than he needed to be. But he'd rather feel sorry for himself than fail to finish his quest. It wasn't proving to be a terribly hard one, after all.
Once again he moved in close to the small heard, staying only somewhat hidden. Soon enough a boar pup noticed his presence and came charging (more of a toddle if he was being honest) towards him.
No excuse to not finish this one easily.
Once again, when he and the boar pup got some distance, he made a single, simple slash that shattered the boar in a single blow. It sounded a lot more impressive than it was. They were just baby boars after all.
The item window popped up again. Another Boar Pup Tusk was added to his inventory. Things were going smoothly.
How was it going to go wrong this time?

Yukiro crept close to the heard of boars again. They were grazing peacefully, seemingly unaware of the danger that was so close. Suddenly, the mother boar looked up, scanning the area. What was happening? They didn't seem to have seen him, but the boars were on high alert. As Yukiro pondered the situation, a wolf pounced out from some nearby bushes, landing amid the crowd. The boar pups panicked and began to flee, and the mother boar seemed to consider fighting before turning tail and running as well. The wolf had a single boar pup clamped in its jaws.
Well. There goes that plan.
Yukiro came out of his 'hiding' place and confronted the wolf. The large dog stared at him as he drew his sword, and dropped its prey in favor of facing Yukiro. The wolf began to creep slowly forward. Yukiro did not answer in kind. He simply brought his sword down on the wolf's head. The canine reeled and backed away. It was smarter and stronger than the cave wolf he'd fought earlier, in a different quest.

The wolf slowly circled Yukiro, growling deeply and audibly. Perhaps it was unnerving? Yukiro didn't really see the threatening aspect. The large dog was getting closer and closer as it circled it's opponent, seeming to think about what would be the best way to attack the swordsman. Its eyes didn't waiver once. Neither did Yukiros. The grayish wolf made a lunge towards Yukiro. He responded by positioning his blade so the grey wolf's jaws skirted across the flat of the blade. The large dog landed behind him with a soft thud. Yukiro whirled around to face the beast. The wolf took a few swift paces away from him before it turned around.
Maybe he was making a bigger deal out of this then he had to. It wasn't much worse than the boars; another four-legged mammal with sharp teeth. Though the higher stats might prove to be more of a problem than he'd like to admit.

The wind was picking up. Yukiro stepped forwards. The wolf stepped backward, then forwards again.
Without a second thought, the wolf made another charge, intending to bite Yukiro in his upper leg and shake him to the ground. Yukiro read its eyes and movements, adjusting to force the wolf's teeth into his long coat. When the large dog tried to bite into the jacket, it discovered that it was far more sturdy than he could have anticipated. Yukiro took a pace back and, at the same time, brought his sword down in a stroke that bit into the canine's shoulder. The wolf's hide, Yukiro found, was far less durable than his Nightmare Overcoat. That gave him a boost of confidence. The wolf probably couldn't hurt him.
Upon this realization, he had another rush of gratitude for its maker.
I should pay him back when I have the chance.
Yukiro stepped towards the wolf again. He'd have to finish this fight-- and this quest-- first.

Yukiro once again waited for the wolf to make the first move. It seemed like a longer and more strenuous process than it was; waiting, countering and striking, then waiting again. The wolf was much more cautious than he'd thought it would be, which made it very slow going. It was also irritating that his attacks were doing so little damage to his quarry. It just made the entire process slower and more tedious.
Oh well.
The big canine came towards him more slowly. Yukiro didn't appreciate the equally tedious nature. It was about time he went on the attack.
Stepping forwards he made a feint, swiping his blade upwards as if to strike with the back edge of his blade. When the wolf recoiled Yukiro brought the sword back down, cleaving into the wolf's left shoulder. It was a smooth, clean hit. The wolf yelped and backed moved a few feet out of Yukiro's reach.

The wolf snarled at Yukiro from a relatively large distance away. It was certainly being more cautious than before. It's health bar was getting fairly low, so it made sense that it would want to retreat.
Like heck I'm gonna let you do that! I haven't fought this long for you to flee, coward! Even an animal must have some form of pride!
Yukiro decided that, rather than risk letting his foe escape, he'd simply charge and slay it with as much haste as he could allow!
Without delaying any further he raised his greatsword so it was pointed skywards, parallel with his own body, and charged the wounded wolf. The beast flinched away at first but seemed to resolve itself to fighting back. It turned to face him and, almost like it was copying his own technique, waited for Yukiro's charge to reach it. Anticipating the wolf's movements Yukiro begun his attack early.
The wolf leaped at him. He was right on the money. His sword came crashing down on the wolf's head, sending it down and away from Yukiro.

Yukiro didn't let up on his onslaught. The wolf was trying to move out of Yukiro's range, but it could only manage to do so enough to reduce the depth of Yukiro's blows.
Yukiro's sword only just reached its foe; only the tip was cutting into its target. But nonetheless, it was hitting the wolf enough to cause damage. Yukiro swung his sword again, in a sweeping downward stroke. The tip of the blade scratched the wolf's face. He made a vertical stroke next, cutting the wolf's ear. Next was another downward slash, then a horizontal one, then a horizontal, but slightly downward swing. The wolf's face, neck, shoulder, and flank were all cut one by one. The cuts were only so deep, and they only amounted to a little damage combined, but he was doing damage nonetheless.
Finally, the wolf managed to get out of Yukiro's striking range. Once it managed to do so Yukiro stopped swinging and returned to his standard open low-guard stance.

Yukiro watched the wolf closely for any slight movement that would give away it's next move. The wolf watched Yukiro carefully, waiting to see the direction that the attack would come from. They watched each other for less than a minute before Yukiro raised his sword. The wolf saw the tip move in such a way that Yukiro appeared to be making a vertical, downward slice. The wolf took this as an opportunity and charged.
It fell for my trap, Yukiro thought, pulling the handle behind him and placing the tip of the blade next to his chest, pointing at the wolf.
The large dog recognized the thrust just as it was leaping to attack. It managed to change directions just enough that the attack wouldn't skewer it entirely. Yukiro felt the edge glide along the wolf's side as he thrust the large blade outwards with one hand, using his empty hand to balance himself like in a fencing thrust. The wolf hit the ground behind him. He spun around and prepared his next stroke.

He'd gotten too confident in his attacks.
The wolf didn't jump up like Yukiro had expected. It jumped parallel to the ground, trying to close in faster than before. It managed to get in to close for Yukiro to swing at the large dog. It bit at Yukiro's thigh.
Yukiro only just managed to fwip! his overcoat between the wolf's jaws and his own leg. The wolf's teeth hit the strong fabric, skidding off of it like it were plate armor. Yukiro made an awkward kick at the wolf, trying to make it back off again. The wolf wasn't hit by Yukiro's boot but did deem it safer to move away from the potential danger. Yukiro stumbled a half step back because of his off-balance motions, but regained his footing and took a few steps further away from his quarry. The wind that had been picking up died down. Yukiro took a deep breath and prepared another thrust.

The wolf once again watched carefully for Yukiro's next move. He'd already prepared a thrust, so it knew what to look out for. All it had to figure out was how to engage the swordsman.
Yukiro eyed the wolf. He wasn't waiting for it to make a wrong move. No, he'd done that enough already. He'd been caught off guard enough already-- he couldn't afford to do so again. At least, his pride couldn't. Yukiro was simply aiming. He gripped the handle of his sword with both of his hands and leaned into a ferocious thrust, fast enough that the wolf couldn't quite dodge it in time. The sword's blade stabbed into the wolf's side, penetrating deep enough that the heart should have been pierced.
Of course, it was never so simple in Sword Art Online.
The wolf stumbled away from the attack. The thrust had reduced its HP nearly to zero. The end of the fight was upon them.

The wolf slowly swayed from side to side, apparently stunned by Yukiro's last attack. Yukiro didn't waste any time in bringing his sword down in an arcing slash that simply sliced through the wolf's throat. The large dog staggered slightly as it's HP bar lost the last of its color. Finally, it glowed and shattered. Yukiro gave a relieved sigh. It had taken him quite a while to finish that. He estimated it being just before eleven, or at earliest around 10:45. A small window popped up for Yukiro to see his earnings from the fight. He was surprised by his grand earnings. Some materials, a fair sum of col, and a weapon of some sort.
Ah, that's right, he needed to visit a merchant sometime. He'd forgotten about that.
But as of the current moment, he needed to complete his current quest. Just one more Boar Pup Tusk and he'd be able to return to Lyle and complete the quest.
