Following the guide that the shops were giving out, Randal learned of a quest that would elavate his cooking abilities, allowing him to create better and more extravagant dishes. Actually he had received the notification when he ranked up to a level 2 cook but had too many things to do before he could get around to it...eventually it had slipped his mind.

But eventually he wisened up after failing some crafting attempts and decided to go and see the NPC from whom the quest had came from. He had heard that it was going to be Satyr, he creature he hadn’t seen yet.

And so with the information in mind, Randal made his was way to the teleportation gate and thought about what would await him, he knew to some degree that the floor would be Greek themed land because he had heard from the guide and he finally said the name of the village on the 17th floor.

”Spartaia!”.

When Randal spawned into the teleportation gate at the entrance of floor 17, he barely had any time to breathe before in an extremely comical way, he was rammed and carried away by a Satyr.

The Satyr was clearly a Satyr cause the NPC tag labelled it as such, but other clear indications of those were the horns on the horns on the NPC’s head, the height which towered quite high above Randal who was notable short, the furry curved legs that resembled that or a goat of four legged creature (though he only had two) and hooves for feet. So when Randal was carried away by the Satyr, he was shocked out his senses and stunned as to what to do.

Thats when the Satyr’s high-pitched voice came through. Trying his best not to laugh at the misplaced audio, Randal heard “Welcome to flor 17, you good man have been selected by the gods for the fine crafting that you have done and they wish to test you, come to Mount Olympia to meet with the Goddess of the Hearthflame, Hestia!”.

“Hestia?” Randal questioned, he wasn’t familiar with Greek mythology and didn’t really know were the main patrons of this floor. Based on what the evil NPC that had successfully ambushed Randal had said, Randal gathered that Hestia must be a goddess, in charge of something called the Hearthfire...

”Yes! Hestia, she wishes to bless you, she has created a trial for all who she wishes to bless as a testing grounds to examine the several facets of a Chef or cook, I hope you pass.” The Satyr said with an evil tone. He then proceeded to point me in the direction of the semi-tall mountain fairly close to mount Olympus right before dashing off to do his own thing, Randal presumed.

Travelling towards the location was a natural response at this time because that was what Randal came up to this floor for in the first place. Before he set off however, he checked that the collusion with the satyr hadn't dislodged any important items as well as check that he had made good on all his supplies for the journey.

As he travelled out of town along the pathway mentioned by the satyr, Randal had a magnificent view to look at, an Ancient Greece based theme within the game and only needed to say the name of the location at a particular place in order to go there quick as lightning meant that a free vacation could be taken at Any time as Long as you were Unlucky enough ti he chosen by the death game by fate.

However part of the spectacular view was also the horde of animals and mobs roaming around the area, to his left of the pathway, Randal was clearly able to see a pack Nimean Lionesses feasting on some unfortunate wildlife that happened into their territories, the pack of whom were now yawning wonderfully large mouths.

To his right, was a castle full of armoured characters who looked like they were soldiers from an era of Spartans. Their buff muscles were rippling through their armour, poised to strike onlookers.

As Randal’s feet quickly landed on the sandy pathway, it barely took him half an hour before what appeared to be a shorter mountain when compared to Mt. Olympus was by itself already a colossal titan far up above the rest of the world, still in stark contrast to this mountain, the behemoth which is Mt. Olympus now reaches into the clouds, farther than the eye could see.

As Randal began his journey up, he noticed other cooks of similar purpose attempting to climb the mountain, one of them called out to him.

”Hey you! Are you heading up to meet Hestia?” He ran up to Randal and gestured as he spoke.

He wore a white toga adorned with golden inscriptions and looked very official.

Before Randal himself could reply, the man already replied saying “Well my name is Matthew and I’ve been here helping people like you for a long time, here is what’s I’m going to do, I’ll tell you what you’re here for and if you pay me 2,000 Col, I’ll give you a special secret method to clear all the trials ahead.”

Randal listened intently as the man’s jiggle cheeks swayed with excitement. Truthfully he was really tempted to get the offer but wanted to probe a bit further to discover if the information is worth paying for, after all that was so much of his current gold that he may not be able to afford it.

”How do I know that you’re not full of it?” Asked Randal

”You see this?” The man motioned to the adornment around his toga and asked. “This is an inscription of truth, upon showing this to someone I am bound by the gods to tell the truth, and hear me now, if you pay me for the information I promise to bring you to Hestia.”

Extremely tempted at this point, Randal brought forward his coin pouch and stood in contemplation, he knew what he was doing wasn’t right at all.

Randal decided that his journey to meet the gods didn’t have to be unnecessarily difficult and paid his way up the mountain and overcome its trials.

However upon pocketing the money, Matthew, the toga wearing man with extremely highly cheeks promptly disappeared with all 2,000 of his Col.

Extremely furious that he just got cheated but nothing to rant on, Randal was left unsatisfied and gloomily trekked his way up the mountain.

About slightly more than a quarter of the way up he noticed a large gathering of various players making a gathering ahead. Upon joining the congregation, he noticed that there were 3 large orbs that flowed with varying levels of brightness with some being turned away while others were being led further along the path.

As he would later gather from conversations with the group, he would find out that the orbs would actually determine the chef’s potential Rank in the future.

After listening in to some of the conversation, Randal quickly joined the line of those who were waiting to get tested, some wore anxious faces while others seemed well prepared. Randal himself was already a Rank 5 Chef in his own right having delayed in coming to visit this floor, he quickly became self-assured that he would at least be allowed to the next floor.

In the corner he saw Matthew trying to goad another group of players into his scheme and Randal promptly went over to pummel his stupid face, collecting back his 2,000 Col and a material to boot.

He also did them a favour by telling the group to spread word that this particular person was scamming them so that no one else would be duped the same way he was.

Returning back to his spot in line, which those people who were already in line politely held for him having seen him beat up someone for as far as they could tell from afar for no reason.

Having stood in line patiently for the last half an hour, Randal got to know the people he was standing around. Turns out that majority of the people here were unlike him and most fake as fresh Rank 2 new cooks and Chef, and almost all of them were mentored by M’am Maggie.

Standing in their presence made Randal feel like the were still inexperienced and made himself feel just a little more arrogant than he should feel. After all, he may not be failing as much as they used to be he was still failing.

Stepping up to the challenge, Randal climbed up the marble steps but found that he had trouble progressing up the staircase, this was a problem no one else seemed to have. One of the administrative deities came down and explained with a perplexed and interested face. The administrators all looked like they were forced to wear Togas and we’re of varying shapes, some fat some skinny.

Randal listened as they explained. Turns out almost all the items on this island were actually spiritual items, with life breathed into them by the master craftsmen that made them, presumable the Greek gods themselves, however it seemed like the admins had a bad habit of not knowing how much to explain and promptly left Randal there.

Randal gingerly struggled his way up the staircase, every step being more difficult than the last, he called the administrator down again as politely as he could through laboured breaths and asked why it was so Difficult for him to claim the steps. The admins then mentioned that the staircase typically scanned the Chef for their current cooking techniques and spotted habits that would be detrimental to their life as a cook. It was only be meditating and resolving those poor habits that’s one could have an easier time climbing the staircase.

Utilising this new Found information, Randal took his time climbing up the steps, everything became easier as he slowly unraveled all his cooking techniques down to their simplest forms, unlearning what he spray knew was a difficult task but before he knew it he had reached the top.

Now at the top of the stair case, Randal looked down at the rest of the cooks and chefs waiting for their turn and felt an unprecedented sense of relief that he managed to pull through despite the difficulty.

As he placed his hand on the orbs, their glow incredibly bright but as though this was a typical occurrence no changes could be seen on the faces of those administering the test. In contact those standing below let out some gaps of astonishment while some others We’re going green with envy.

As the Admins let Randal carry onwards, Randal felt as though his steps were lighter than before. As he left behind the courtyard behind him, he spotted a number of chefs who were wearing more regal attires lounging and slightly ahead of them was a town buzzing with activity just up ahead, without too much trouble, Randal read the sign board that said “Welcome to Midway Valley”.

Entering midway valley was an enlightening experience for Randal as at every corner of the town was laced with ingredients he had never had the pleasure of seeing before. At every corner of the village were shops simply in giving away cooking lessons as well as free ingredients to try their hands. Not to mention the large array of Shops located everywhere selling interesting foods Randal has never even had the pleasure of trying before. It was almost as though Randal had entered another world.

Not forgetting his mission just yet, Randal indulged in the extravagance for quite some time, till the sun set and the sun rise again Randal found himself compelled to continue joining in the festivities without end. The drinks the food and the party all called out to him. He made friends with the locals and some other players who unwittingly also have gotten themselves enthralled by all the foods, it felt like a treasure trove had been unlocked for them.

It wasn’t long before Randal lost Sight of what was supposed to be in front of him, his mission, his goals, the only way he could wake from his stupor was he noticed that no matter how much he ate, he was still constantly hungry, he noticed when that after awhile only a few people were buying and sampling and learning from the people while majority of the people here were teachers and store owners.

Immediately wisening up, Randal stopped eating the food and whipped something up for himself from the materials that he had bright along with him on the journey, after eating it, Randal felt enlightened, this food was actually making Him full. Randal decided to watch a bit longer and noticed that very few people left the village to continue heading up the mountain, at first he didn’t understand why this was the case, it was only when he watched as new comers flowed in and he silently trailed and watched them did he realise that the food and atmosphere served to trap them here, immediately contemplating to bolt but thinking better of himself, Randal went out to the front of the village a bit further away from the towns people and put a sign up warning travellers coming from the bottom against the food and festivities lest the Never leave.

Promptly leading being the town of midway left Randal feeling a little more haggard than he was before the putting had actually taken a toll on Randal‘s body.

However Randal was determined that after the previous town, he wold be able to complete his journey because if good food and a life of seemingly wondrous comfort wasn’t enough to hold him back than nothing else could stay hon from his task.

Randal journey up to the three quarter point of this mountain was not fought with any danger, and the view of the Ancient Greece themed floor did nothing but lift Randal’s spirit as the view from somewhere up in the mountains upon the plains, towns and villages have Randal a peaceful sensing. Along the way he spotted a significantly smaller group of adventurers, all of whom had managed to get past the town of midway. With only a bit more to go to the top, Randal pulled up his socks and machetes his way over.

As he came closer to the congregation, he noticed that they were once again queuing up for a test held but yet again more toga wearing administrators. Understanding that this was all part of a test to see if he is worthy of meeting with Hestia the goddess of the hearthflame.

As Randal approached the test site, he was relieved, this one wasn’t nearly as mystical as measuring the future and latent potential of candidates or as terrifying as the spider web of lies that way midway, here was a simple ingredient identifying test.

However, something similarly mind boggling was that Randal and all the rest of the adventurers has never seen such fruits before and the Administrators seem to give every contestant a different one.

The test would be explained as Randal drew closer and he heard that the test is spilt into different portions and one need only pass one of the tests to be considered worthy of passing through.

Each test comprised of different segments.

1) the identification - contestants/participants are expected to describe and scribe various characteristics to the ingredients presented before then and are expected to identify the material, these need not necessarily be food based ingredients and can range from any other inorganic material like wood to jars of varying liquid.

2) the method and execution - participants are then expected to take a step forward and show of some of their culinary abilities by taking the materials and present ing something with it, the administrators allow for contestants to utilise any other ingredient in their dish so long as the main tasking ingredient featured somewhere in the dish. Participants are also expected to cook their dish for administrators to see.

3) the presentation - this May be considered one of the simplest tasks as regardless of the appearance of the food, things like colour contrasts and themes were concepts familiar to chefs regardless of the appearance and origin of the ingredient.

When Randal stepped up to the challenges he had already watched about eight different participants attempt the task with only three of the eight succeeding and being allowed to move on. The three were semi capable of cooking the ingredient to what appeared to be passable standards as well as present it in a decent way. But zero of the eight had managed to identify the ingredient presented before them.

When Randal stepped up to the plate, and was presented with this neon blue lightly glowing fruit, he was perplexed, none of the other participants food had glowed and the identification was almost crucial as one of the participants failed to identify a Poisonous ingredient and when he sampled it to understand the flavour palate of the food he was immediately sent out to receive medical attention.

As he figured on the fruit in front of him Randal considered as much as he knew about fruits from the real world. For the origin he knew that was definitely something that only existed in the game as he had never seen such a fruit before.

It was neon blue with darker veins that was a darker shade and added with a tone of green. The fruit itself was round while the stem at the top forced in a short hook. This game three images it the trees that this fruit must have grown from a very curly shape.

The bright colour of the fruit served to mean two things to Randal, either the fruit grew in a location that was safe from predators and never grew to learn how to defend itself through colour, or it was so attractive to the eyes that the tree was an organism eating tree, similar to a Venus flytrap which lured pets in towards a delectable nectar before trapping them with incredibly sticky inner leaves.

This placed Randal at a severe impasse. It was clear that the identification was only a small part of the test as majority of the participants had failed at this step but still Managed to pass overall. However regal had no way to ascertain for sure if the ingredient was poisonous or not She he was not willing to take that Chance. Fortunately the administrators did not assign a time limit to the task and Randal could take his time.

As Randal stepped forward closer towards the ingredient it was then when something horrible pricked his nose, a piercing stench overwhelmed his sense as he doubled over slightly coughing to get the smell out. It was at that moment that Randal immediately knew what he had to do.

Stepping his nerves somemore, he approached the fruit as the smell grew stronger so did Randal’s tolerance for it grow and by the time he was face to face with the fruit Randal was no longer doubling over. The smell was so distinct that Randal immediately Knew where the concept design for this fruit was based from.

He was thrown of by one thing though. The fruit he thought this ingredient was based of at least had a spiky outer shell to protect Itself from predators but this one did not have such a benefit. Nonetheless, Randal decided that all signs point to this fruit being edible as the logic remains that maybe no animal ever ate the fruit because it smells terrible to them.

Somewhere above this arena, Hestia smiled down on all the participants participating in her little game. Being a god and all, a bird eye view of the whole thing was only expected at this point. She had been lazing around pretty happy with the few craftsman who had managed to beat all three of her challenges and more if they were unlucky. You see although the system tells players that Hestia wishes to meet them, the truth is that simply too many players can get to rank 2 and Hestia hasn’t the time to meet all of them, so she devised a trial that would deter large hordes of people from entering.

 1) if you were unlucky then you would be met with Mathew who would scheme to scam players of two thirds their coin. This would cripple some of the players who relied heavily on their money, it was a small trial she gestures wouldn’t even have put it in if Matthew didn’t beg her for it. This was when Randal first entered her sights after he hilariously beat up Matthew before undergoing the trial of potential

2) the trial of potential was two fold, the stairs would deter any and all participants who already received guidance to progress because if you did then you shouldn’t be asking a god for help + the orbs were connected to the electrical pulses in the brains of players to determine their confidence level, it raspy had nothing to do with parent potential.

3) the town of midway was a brilliant concoction that Hestia herald came up with, the truth of the town was that so the people and food were all made up by Hestia powers meant to trick and subdued those with weak minds, there were all kinds of ways to get out but few did what Randal did and warned others against the town, Hestia immediately removed the sign as soon as Randal went on his way.

4) the last trial was the only one that involved any real cooking skills, everything before this was just to test the character of a participants mettle. Randal did alright and was sent to meet Hestia.

Hestia congratulated Randal and gave him a torch to carry down the mountain and teleported him back to The Central town of floor 17. Randal thought that Hestia was very small and cute but didn’t say anything because of her being a god and all.
