Now done with the third part of the chain quest Randal had just finished conversing With the young Artisan Hannah who after commissioning Randal to retrieve a gemstone for her to use as part of the work and crafting. With that out if the way and her faith in Randal soaring through the roof, she takes him with another package to be delivered to an old cheery fisherman by the moniker of Ol’Pete. This man as explained by her, was someone who used to be a famous cook who lived in town before his restaurant was usurped by one of his disciples. Now he spends his days living on the edge of the forest fishing and living off nature. With this information at hand, Randal grabbed the parcel which reminded him of a really long stick but based on the information presented to him at the moment must have been a week adorned fishing pole.

After the request was received by Randal together with the long package, Randal began to make his way to the location of Ol’Pete, His journey started to the north east of the town of beginnings right by the lake side. The journey did not take too Long as the lake was as very distinguishable feature of the forest floor and many players would find it hard to not remember its location. The journey there was a short and uneventful one filled with simple sceneries like open plains and simple and sparse vegetation. It was only asking the outskirts of the lake’s forests did vision get more difficult.
Considering the location he had to venture to, Randal began his journey straight in that direction, in the distance not too Long later, he saw a simple wooden house standing by the lake house. A single chimney at the top breathing out smoke into the sky: however not before finding a random vegetable on the ground.

As Randal approached the simple but immaculate wooden cabin with smoke billowing from the TOP, he knocked on the door and called out for Ol’Pete but not a single sound of reply could be heard. Pushing lightly on the wooden door that separated the world and the house, Randal looked inside and saw that the cabin was empty and although the outside seemed clean, a fairly horrid stench emanated from within, taking a few steps into the house only worsened the stench, looking within Randal could see trophies of fish that had been mounted on the walls along with a description of how they struggled, the date, and the weight of the creature.
Other than the walls lined with fish heads, there were also a spectacular array of fishing rods both new and old of varying lengths all waiting to be shown, there were even a few harpoons laying around. Besides the harpoons there were also some random chilli spices scattered in flower pots near the entrance. Which Randal slyly took some of.

Seeing as how there was no one at home, Randal quickly closed up the house and stepped out towards the lake, after all if the old eccentric fishermen wasn’t staying in his lake house, he’s probably outside the lake house doing what he did best, lakeside fishing, so Randal wondered around the circumstances of the lake looking for an individual with distinctly white hair, cause Randal assumed that someone so old would be ivory in the head space. However he didn’t manage to find the old by the lakeside anywhere so he returned to the lakeside house to have another look. Upon which he heard the sound of some shouting at him, something along the lines of,

“You stay out of my house you thief.” In a grumpy voice.

Taking a step back to look around, Randal noticed that there was a pier that was memorably empty but more contained a total of one boat and one head full of white hair.

Randal patiently waited for the old man to make his way across but the guy was in no rush at all, taking his leisurely stroll back to the lake side house as though there wasn’t someone waiting for him right at his door.

As he came close enough Randal promptly informed him that he work for a young artist named Hannah who instructed Randal to deliver this package to a one Ol’Pete. Hence why he had been outside the house looking for him, to acknowledge that he received the package.

Old Pete scowled at Randal one he heard who the package was from. So instead of explaining the story, Old Pete Just Asked that Randal get in the boat with him and fit on a short fishing expedition with him. Randal unassuming of the old man, decided that there was no harm and walked with him back to the boat. Along the way Randal Found some seaweed.

When the two men had finally reached the boat, the lake ahead of the suddenly became really rough, the tides and water just started rolling constantly and Randal took a step back but the old man stood gods ground as though it was not like he hasn’t seen it all before. Unamused in the slightest, the old man brought Randal inside the little row. When he did, the pond quietened down quickly As though accepting what was about to happen as without a doubt. In the boat the old man explained that he had hen rivals with a particular fish in this pond but the lovingly generic name of sword fish. This is because the creature has shown explicit awareness and intelligence to the point where the old man didn’t know know whether to laugh or cry that all other fish has been scared away from the bait due the creature’s harassment as well s as the fact that the sword fish has never fallen for the lure before.

However what Randal didn’t know was that the sword fish loved shiny things, Randal would only find this out when the old man took out the package from Hannah.

He told Randal that he was also looking for someone who can help him catch the sword fish as it has been too obstructive to the old man’s fishing expeditions and livelihood. The solution that the old man has came up with initially was to kill the swordfish but the old man had thought about living an existence with the swordfish absent and realised he didn’t want that either, the rivalry gave the old man a sense of companionship.

As such the old man had spent the last few weeks building an underwater area in the basement of his house, This area will be utilised for the swordfish to continue living while they live together. The old man actually made the underwater area connect back to the ocean but the sword fish need to find his way out so that he would be able to know where the entrance in would be. Somewhere along shore of the under ground lake, Randal Found a clam.

Anyway when the old man took out his package, the long rod was distinctly adorned to be as bright as possible, This was a design choice made after learning of the swordfish’s preference for shiny things. It would serve two purposes, the first would be that the sword fish really loves shiny things so it would be very interested in coming close to the new rod. The second purpose would he because as a semi intelligent creature it would not suspect something so shiny to belong to a fisherman who would in normal circumstance try to be as inconspicuous as possible.

Regardless of the structure of the fishing rod, the best thing that caught Randal’s eye was the fact that at the end of the string where the bait is supposed to be hooked onto was the gemstone that Randal had given to Hannah, the gemstone was connected via a thin but sturdy mental chain would cause the line to sink to the bottom but that right matter because old Pete has a boat.

That greenstone would probably be the swordfish’s downfall as the shiny object would purposely distract it Long enough for it to fail at realising what an obvious trap it would otherwise have been. After a few moments of sailing, the two men had reached the of the lake and was now preparing to fish for the old man’s Moby Dick.

Old pete began to explain why he needed to enlist Randal’s help, see he could tell in normal sized fishes using normal kinds of string but this new invention by Hannah made it impossible for the old man to do the fishing himself. Instead that was why he needed a strapping young lad like Randal for help. It didn’t take long to teach Randal how to use the fishing equipment and soon they began their journey of fish. However the anticipation was cut short because both of them underestimated the swordfish’s love of shiny items and within the minute has come biting and hooked himself onto the hook.

Immediately after Randal felt the hook and line get pulled into the water he called out to old Pete to help him and tell him what to do, without a single moment of hesitation the sword fish was yanked out of the water looking really stupid. It was very clearly upset and agitated. It’s eyes were red as if someone had poured or slowly sprinkled red hot chilli peppers into it and swordfish was absolutely stunned by the rest of the situation, two men were there judging him for his greed in this embarrassing moment.

Once again the whole situation ended very quickly compared to Long drawn out struggle that old Pete has expected to have encountered because he himself did not have the proficiency to stun the sword fish. So when Razi quickly incapacitated the fish, old Pete quickly scooped it up and placed it gently into the tank with water. The sword fish was scared but not down and out, his body stunned but it’s mind was frantic, trying to figure out all ways to escape.

Fearing that the worst might happen and that the sword fish might escape, old Pete quickly went up to captains quarters and steered the team back home, as quickly back As they came out to sea, the reached back to land and with some slight difficulty, carried the tanker back to the underground lair of old Pete where he gently released the sword fish back into the water.

With a great big splash into the water the sword fish swim around a bit before glaring heavily at the two perpetrators. And it didn’t even manage to get the shiniest jewel it ever see however it soon realised that it was not in danger and that the water here was very familiar to him, diving down into the water to figure out why, he realised that the walls of the cave was actually filled with Glittering shiny objects that seemed embedded deeply into the wall, thoroughly attracted but still suspicious over the familiar water, it continued to explore this new domain. Eventually it located a clear entrance under the water and darted for it.

Above, old Pete And Randal continued to watch the water and shadow of the sword fish until it eventually disappeared from sight. Unexpectedly the old man took it well and simply shrugged his shoulders explaining that if it were meant to be, it would be.

The old man then proceed to invite Randal to stay over at his cabin for a few days to see if the fruit of his labours would be rewarded, thinking that he had nothing to lose by staying a few days considering that the timeline for the game to end was still far from over as well as the fact that Randal himself wasn’t Super confident about making it out alive, he decided he should enjoy the cabin and maybe the old man’s company.

In exchange for all the time he would be spending accompanying the old man, Randal decided to cook in his spare time for the old man and himself while exploring the neighbouring area for any unclaimed materials.

The old man was intrigued but didn’t question the situation at all, after all it was going to be free food, but after seeing Randal cooking, he too felt his hands getting itchy and taught Randal a thing or two about fish.

Over the course of the next day, Randal would learn the multitude of ways that the old man would use to cook his food, as a lonely figure standing day to day at the end of the pier or on his boat fishing, he had developed a method or two when cooking to keep things interesting, for instance the basics of cooking in the Wild was using a campfire, so he taught Randal how to start a fire using leaves and some twigs so that he would be able to continue cooking wherever there is some forest fuel.

After the fire finally got started, the old man quickly placed a fish on a nearby rock she started scaling the fish, but instead of using a knife he used a rock with a decently sharp edge. After scaling the fish, he then used a stick to pierce through the fish and some rocks to stabilise the stick over the fire. Randal pocketed some of the chillies

The meal ended up being absolutely delicious after the old man went back into the house to procure some chilli and mixing it into the oil that was dropping off the fish. After so the east was melting the tender body fat of the fish she mixing it with chilli provided the two man with all the sauce foundation that they needed. A few pinches of salt later and the sauce that they would eat the fish with was ready. And devour the fish they did.

Afterwords, Randal And the old man went back down to see flashes of the sword fish swimming around before quickly daring out the moment it saw the. Clearly still not yet comfortable with the idea but unable to resist the shiny walls of the cavern. Smiling to himself as if it were all under control, the old man brought Randal back upstairs and taught him a bit more about the fishes present in the lake.

They spoke until nightfall and Randal decided that he would not stay past the next day, promptly deciding that he had rested enough and that it was time for him to head back and continued his adventuring. That night went by peacefully in spite of the dispute that occurred overnight, in the morning, the downpour had transformed into a light drizzle but that didn’t spare the ground from turning completely until mud and the grass looking shiny after a beautiful shower all night Long.

In the morning Randal actually awoke early than old Pete, clearly his day started far later than most people after staying by himself for so long and not having to wake up for Anyone or anything except himself. So Randal dragged himself out of bed and started to make breakfast for the two of them. He would later use the dish that he had into a teaching attempt to educate old Pete over the Benefits of having a balanced diet.

Through the day Randal and old Pete bonded over their love and basic requirements like food, Randal was also treated to some backstory of old Pete, although he seemed like a grumpy old man, the truth was that he had actually been part of a rag tag group of traveling merchants who had met him while traveling. He initially picked up finding as a way to help the group find food, there were other people in the group with survival skills but only old Pete managed to make And cooked fish the way he did. Other like there was a single hunter in the team, who would only be good At catching small game but had no idea how to properly prep or cook the game at all, leaving the work to others in the group like old Pete to always carry around some form of seasoning. They only split up after they began taking up immoral requests and after some time old Pete decided that he couldn’t keep going and secluded himself as a form of atonement.

As the day drew nearer to its end, Randal and old Pete knew that their time together was drawing to a close and decided to spend some time in the under ground area to see the results. To their surprise more fishes actually showed up in the pond as though the sword fish suspecting that it was still a trap encouraged other fish to appear as a show of force. The old man quickly bloomed and praised himself for his ingenious idea. He quickly went upstairs to bring down some bait and began fishing as an experiment and found that the sword fish didn’t readily interfere with the plan accept for a few times when the hook drew to close the the fish in its vicinity. Booking up one or two fishes, old Pete quickly kept the fishing rods and beckoned Randal to come back upstairs. He explained that this was just phase-1 of his plan.

With that being said, Randal got curious and quickly Asked What old Pete meant guy that statement, to elaborate old Pete invited Randal back onto his boat ashes they set out to see together some time in the late afternoon evident by the setting sun burning a bright orange hue. As the reached the middle of the lake, old Pete cast a regular fishing rod out into the pristine and clear waters while smiling expectedly for Randal, with a click add the idea snapped into place, Randal remembered that the sword fish would originally distort his fishing plans and prevent old Pete from getting the food he himself he needed to survive. Soon he noticed the calmness of the lake that belonged to fishing was now back in hands and not being disputed by the sword fish in the first place. After a few more swings And a few more catches, old Pete decided to send Randal back.

Although old Pete was a recreational fisherman, he explained that he didn’t use the standard J Hooks due to the fact that he wouldn’t normally eat ask the fish that he catches, releasing a majority if the small ones for the event where they get bigger in favour of those that have always grown up a good amount. This was due to the fact that majority of the time J hooks would tend to lodge too far into the fishes mouth or too deep in and result in the unfortunate death of those unlucky life forms.

This was just one of the many examples that old Pete would go on to give Randal, after the sun has long set did old Pete finally let Randal go, sailing the boat back to shore and releasing the poor man from his vices. Regal look back at the old man And prayed that nothing of any mishap would come to either of the two.
