Okay, the meeting with her brother was, unexpected. That much was safe to say, but, she still needed someone to talk to. She had heard about some gypsy wandering around town handing out food and a quest to get a familiar. She didn't know what she was going to train it to be yet, mainly because she needed to tame the thing first. So that was something that she could worry about on another day. Currently though, Neph was wandering around the Town of Beginnings waiting for this NPC to show herself. Why did some of them have to be so difficult to find? What was the point of that? She sighed as she thought on this before she felt someone tug at her sleeve. She looked to see that it was the very gypsy that she was looking for. "I've got some food here to help one tame a Familiar. You look a little lonely and like you could use the company. Here, take this and go find yourself a friend along the worn path out of town." Right as if it was really going to be that easy anyways. But, Neph took the food and dipped her head in thanks before she started to head out of town, on a new mission. Hunting down some kind of friend, ha that was a funny thought, a friend.

She stared at the food that she was handed before she continued to walk out of the town. What could go wrong with getting something that would be able to help her? Zeph fixed her grip on her spear as she looked around the wild. She knew that something was going to attack her, so she was just going to prepare for it. What she didn't think was going to happen though, was to run into a small pack of boars. She stared at the four markers that she could see and debated on going to opposite direction of them, just to avoid them, but she instead decided to attack.

Charging forward, she swung her spear diagonally into the first boar, cutting it right down the center. Poof, it was gone in a cloud of fragments. One down, three to go. She looked at the three boars as they went to surround her. The first one to attack went right for her and was able to hit her right in the left leg. She watched as her health only dropped by a sliver and she smiled lightly at the thought. When the third boar attacked, it hit her, but the enchantment of Thorns on her armor activated, instantly killing the boar in retaliation.

Two down, two to go. The fourth boar, she was able to easily dodge when she saw it running for her. Well, this wasn't as much of a challenge as she thought that it was going to be.

There was a minor stare down between herself and the two remaining boars, but that didn't last long at all. She ran to the first boar that was still alive and as she went to stab the boar, it managed to jump out of the way before running at her and tackling her to the ground. But before she could push the boar off, the thorns on her armor hit the boar and it instantly died from the damage taken. So she rose to her feet right as the one boar turned to fragments and she looked at the final remaining boar.

This wasn't as hard as she thought it was going to be, so there was that going for her. She watched the final boar, wondering what it was that it was thinking. Apparently, it was thinking about attacking her, because it soon charged her. But it was coming at her so clear that she was easily able to step to the side as she watched it run right past her and into a hill. Ow.

She watched the final boar, and charged forward to thrust her spear into it, only for it to move out of the way. So it seems like her basic attacks never connected, well, that was a nice thing to know. For now though, she watched the boar, only to miss it's attack against her. It ran right into her leg, to which she kicked it and noticed that her thorns hit it once more. The boar was a cloud of fragments the moment her foot had touched it. Well, that was mighty anti-climatic wasn't it.

She sighed as she brought her spear over to lean on it a little as she checked all of the loot that she got. Some good hauls here and even some materials. Maybe with that she might think about a profession to join. That was still a hard maybe. She wasn't entirely certain if there was one that caught her eye really.

She was starting to wonder if this was a lost cause of sorts. How hard could it really be to actually go and find herself a familiar who wanted to be tamed? She pulled the guidebook from her pocket and looked up the quest. Reading through the book, she cringed lightly. Well, good thing she didn't have anything else that she wanted to do today. She put the book back into her pocket and sighed. "It's going to be a long day isn't it. Hopefully, I can just keep killing things along the way, that should make life a little easier." Of course, killing things would help her level which would be nice. She would be able to defend herself just that much more against people trying to kill her. But it was still the fact that she had to even kill enough things to level up in the first place.

You know, I should just not worry on that. It's not like she will find me again right? I mean, she's probably up on the higher floors by now. No need to worry... Now if only her thoughts were as convincing as she wanted them to be. Her right hand gripped the pole of her spear as she walked. It swayed back and forth with her as she moved. Nephthys was still concerned about things, but you know what, she did need to let that go. So, instead of focusing on what could happen, she was going to focus on things that should happen. As she walked, she started to think of the things that she missed, cooking. Perhaps she should become a cook in game. It might help her. Only, she wasn't a cook so to say, but more of a baker. Was there a shop here that dealt with cakes and treats like that?

She might have to look into that, after she deals with this quest and the four new markers in front of her face. She saw the boars before they saw her. Which was nice, because the first thing that she did was charge the first boar and used Heft on it. She watched as it burst into fragments the moment the tip of her spear crossed through it's body. She nodded as she looked at the second boar, only to be able to narrowly dodge it's attack at the precise moment. Well, wasn't that lucky.

Of course, this caused her to miss the attack that came from the third boar, but the moment that it hit her, both of them lost health. Her a sliver, the boar, it's entire health bar. Another cloud of fragments. The fourth boar though, it was staring at her and when it tried to attack, she just pushed it away with the butt of her spear's pole.

Right after she pushed back the last boar, she looked at the other one. She was getting slightly tired of this little game, so with her goal in sight, she went to stab the boar. But she was interrupted when the other boar ran right into her leg. It burst into fragments because of the enchantments on her armor, but it still didn't help the fact that she had missed her mark, again. She looked at the final boar to see that it was clumsily running at her and she sighed. Pushing back a few feet she watched it soon face plant and she shook her head.

It was a sad day when even the boars couldn't hit her from exhaustion. This just meant that she was going to have to put the boar out of it's misery soon right? She really hoped so, because she just wanted to continue on this hunt.

She watched the final boar, it being a giant pain and not wanting to die. But then, this worked in the favor on it taking time to find something right? A familiar wasn't just going to pop out to her within the first few minutes of being on this hunt. No, it was going to take time. So taking the time to kill things and gain loot along the way was going to be a giant help to her. That was a good thing to think about as she continued to plan her next attack. But even as she planned it and executed it, there was a rock under her toe that made her slip and fall.

Thank goodness no one was around to have seen that. She watched as the boar charged her to hit her, only for the moment it made contact, it lost all of it's health right away. She was really starting to like this enchantment, she might have to find a way to get more from that blacksmith. But for now, she laid on the ground and rolled to her back to look through all of the loot that she just earned. She was going to walk out of this a millionaire wasn't she?

She just stayed in her spot on the ground. She figured that if anything wanted to attack her, now would be the time. But they would also have to be not dead. The only things that had been nearby are now dead, and she had nothing else to fight. So she was going to take the time to stare up at the floor above her head that was painted to look like the sky. Oh how she missed the true sky. The real birds chirping, the actual sun. She was certain that she was probably looking a lot less tan in the real world right now, and that thought bugged her a bit.

But it still didn't bug her as much as the thought of her dying. She wasn't ready to actually leave this world, the real one or this game one. She was torn. She liked how she felt in the game, but she missed who she was in the real world. This sucked.

She sighed as she rolled to her hands and knees and rose to her feet. She stretched, feeling her spin pop and straighten out. Well, that felt nice at least. She bent back over and grabbed Spartan before she looked in the direction that she came from. She wasn't as far from town as she originally thought honestly. She shrugged before she started to walk in the opposite direction once more. She didn't know what kind of familiar she was actually thinking of finding, but she figured that something was going to pop out at her sooner or later.

Knowing her luck with things, look at where she is stuck after all, it was going to be later instead of sooner. Either way, at least this was a chance for her to find some new gear and things that she could end up using later on. Yeah, that was a good way of looking at this mess of a quest right now.

As she walked on the beaten path, she noticed that something else had bee here not mere moments before. How could she tell? She could see the culprits. There were four more boars ahead of her, and she was wondering the best way to sneak up on them to take them down. She stood silently formulating her plan, just moments before she moved her spear and charged for the first one. Slashing the tip of her spear through the boar, it was soon gone in a cloud of fragments as she turned to look at the other three boars.

She looked at the and wasn't able to dodge two of the boars as they attacked her at the same time. The first boar hit, and her armor's enchantments drained the health of the boar. Right after that boar was a cloud of fragments, the hit from the second boar connected and the same thing happened to it. Well, at least that made things just that much easier as she watched the final boar trip over it's own legs after watching it's three brother's perish.

So, now, she was just staring down a single boar. See, she got used to staring down at least two of them at a time, so just having one in front of her was a sight that was new to her, though welcomed. Either way though, it was sure to make this go by faster right? Again, this is Nephthys that we are talking about here. She charged for the boar, and stabbed the tip of her spear right into the boar's rib cage. She had aimed for it's chest, but it decided to move to try and dodge, this still worked in her favor though as it's health dropped to the red.

It wasn't dead yet though, and as it tried to come for Nephthys, she easily pushed it to the side as she moved around it. It wasn't going to hurt her today. Not if she had anything to say about it at least.

Okay, the boar had just a tiny bit of health left, and she had a feeling that if she was to let the thing hit her, it wasn't going to be good for her. Never good for the boar's it seems, but definitely not good for her. So, without even thinking on anything, she thrust the tip of her spear right into the boar's head and soon enough, it was gone in a cloud of fragments. Good, that meant that she was done with this massacre for now. She leaned against the tree behind her as she looked through the loot that she got once more.

This was starting to seem like more of a bother than a helpful thing. But what could one do about the whole RNG part of the game. It wasn't like this was easy for others and just hard on her. Nah, she was certain that there were some people who had a worse time than she is having right now.

The tree that she was leaning against had something rustling in the leaves. She gripped her spear tighter, ready to stab whatever it was that was going to attack her from above. Wait, perhaps this was an animal to become her familiar? She looked up, to see a leaf slowly falling from the tree and no other noise than that. Nope, nothing to fight nor tame. Wasn't that just a huge bust? She sighed as she pushed herself from the tree. Well, if there was a familiar for her up in that tree, it was gone now for sure. She probably scared the thing away.

Which honestly, is good. She didn't need to have a familiar that was going to scare away easily. She needed a companion, not something for her to babysit after all. It was just the process of finding that correct familiar that would fit her now very high standards.

She started to walk, only now she was headed into a forested area. She was starting to wonder if this was going to hold the thing that she so desired. What it was that she was desiring for a familiar, she still didn't know. She just had the feeling that she was going to know the moment she saw it. She just had to find it first. The moment she walked into the forested spot, the visibility dropped a bit from the treetops blocking the sunlight. Not a lot, but still enough to not make it glaringly bright on her eyes right now.

She thought of it as a little gift that she didn't ask for. She figured that it was a welcomed thing on her body as well. Standing in the direct sunlight like that was going to make her super hot anyways. So, now, she was cooling off in the shade, while walking and looking for...well anything at this point.

The shade, being as welcomed as it was, was also the home to some wolves. She found this out the hard way when she nearly ran right into them. Of course, she jumped back a few feet to see if they were going to attack her, and low and behold, yes they were. No true surprise there right. She watched as the wolves turned to look at her and she sighed as she thrusted her spear at the wolf to stab it in the side. The attack connected, but that just seemed to make the wolf mad as it lunged at her.

The moment it's teeth sunk into her arm though, her armor's enchantments kicked in and the wolf turned into a cloud of fragments. But it was the second wolf who tried to lunge at her, only for it's leg to get caught on a tree branch in that same moment. Poor thing.

Well, it wasn't a poor thing for long. The wolf was back on it's feet and growling at her. It was almost as if the monster thought that she put the branch there. Wasn't that just an amazing thought. Her managing to throw a branch in front of the wolf as she was battling with it's..mate she thinks. Oh, no wonder the wolf is growling at her. "Ah, sorry about that man. Didn't mean to kill your girl first." No, that wasn't what she had planned, but hey, that's what happened, so that is what she was now working with. An angry male wolf. Cool. Just like any other guy in the world right? Angry for no damned reason. Ready to take it out on the first person that they see. Woah, Neph, where did these thoughts come from? The person who tried to kill you was a chick, remember?

Either way, her thoughts were stopped when she lunged forward to thrust her spear into the wolf, it worked, even if it didn't kill the wolf. The retaliation attack that the wolf did, killed the wolf though. The moment it was able to sink it's claws into her leg, it was drained of the health it had remaining. She watched as it died, "Well, at least you'll be with your girl."

With that fight done and over with, she checked to see the loot that she had gotten. Nothing horrible. She knew one thing though, she had enough materials to think about joining in the profession life. She was seriously thinking of becoming a cook, that way she could be close to what she loved to do. That wasn't a bad idea was it? She honestly didn't think so, she thought that it was smart. Do the thing that you love to do, and you will have fun. Yeah, that was a solid plan. So that was what she was going to do the moment she reached town after finding this allusive familiar of her. Speaking of, why hasn't she caught wind of something tamable yet? Was her luck in the game really that horrible? She was starting to think that was the case as she started to walk a little deeper into the forested area.

As she wandered through this little enclave of trees and forest, she wondered about the other things that she could possibly find while exploring. That was when it hit her, she could try to hunt down a treasure chest. That would be a good find, you know, as long as it didn't try to kill her. She hadn't found one yet in this game, so she didn't know what kind of traps might be on them. But that wasn't going to stop her from looking though. So, with Spartan held by her side in one hand, she walked slowly through the area, searching and looking. She was curious to know if this was going to work for her since the familiar hunt obviously wasn't. But, even as she moved around to try and see if she could find a treasure chest, it was looking like her luck wasn't with that either. "Typical." With that, she gave up on her secondary hunt and went back to the first one. Time to see what else this little area had to give her.
