Jinx lifted up the large piece of stone onto the wall, and looked behind her. The town was still in danger, and was this honestly the best decision? She could be putting out the fires, helping the people hurt? Why did it matter if the walls held if the people who lived in the town died as a result? All it showed is how she was a horribly selfish person...

"No, if this place comes under attack and the wall isn't up...Then it will fall apart instantly! Everyone will work to help the people, but the wall must stand to stop the attackers" The girl reminded herself as she looked around, and saw a segment of the wall that was in some serious needs of repairs. Jinx made her way over, and spotted several of the townsfolk trying to move some of the stones back onto the wall. "Let me help" The girl offered, helping lift the large piece of stone onto the wall. Jinx smiled at her work, but...there was so much more that needed to be done. The girl threw a look beyond the wall itself. How long did they have to get it all done...? Would it even be enough?

As the fire for the courage died down after Randal ran back and forth carrying large bucket to replenish the water supply so that the villagers could put out the fire. He noted that more fire were going on around town and he needed to go and settle those first before he went to support the castle walls or shouting else that needed doing, this was more important.

Randal could hear people screaming for help as another fire started up. There’s a large gathering of people this time who were storing to enter the burning building.

Randal certainly at some point in time wondered why there was no idea to build stone houses out something that was more sturdy and less flammable.

Regardless, Randal Used the bucket of water he was caring to dose the village who was going in to save the one in need and carried on to get water to put out the fire where necessary.

She received the alert from a player who had descended to the festivities of Floor 11 and immediately fell in line to help. Invasions weren't unheard of, but what had her worried was that nothing of this caliber had ever happened in the history of SAO. As soon as she materialized in Floor 17's teleporter, freshly buffed and with her friend's lent scythe at her back, Mishiro almost instantly fell into a coughing fit. The sky, red with the fires that raged all over Larissa. Smoke filled the streets, seeping into her lungs and making it difficult to see and breathe. The walls needed repairs and houses were broken down.

And that was only the vanguard.

Mishiro slipped an armored arm under a small NPC's legs and supported their back with the other. "Hold still," she said softly. It hadn't taken her long to find and free two citizens; she had followed their cries for help and arrived at a crumbling building. "You--" she turned her head and addressed the second one, who was in a better state than the other, "--can you walk? We'll take it slow."

She gently lifted up the small child in her arms and briskly walked towards where the other players had set up a tent for the injured.

An invasion for Christmas? An was equal parts livid and excited. For one, she had settled in quite nicely with all the festivities that event NPC had set up at the eleventh floor and she was having fun relaxing and totally not taking advantage of all the free stuff, but on the other part, this event was different in a way that made her want to try everything out! New game objectives that diverted from the classic fight-everything-until-they-all-die mold was a dash of fresh and thrilling that nicely wrapped up SAO's Christmas and New Year's present to its players.

So as fires and chaos raged about, the silver-haired newbie waltzed into town with a totally out-of-place bright smile.

This was fine... the injured were all NPCs, right? Lines of randomly generated code were nothing to be concerned about, though strangely enough, thinking about Billy and the other small NPC and its distrustful older brother being in this same situation... kind of made her stomach twist. An's smile faded at that thought, but she quickly entertained herself with wondering which task she should go for. The town guard who called for players to help rescue the captured royal family sounded like an adventure! ...but seeing the nice equipment of the players who undertook the task made her feel like she would just be a burden.

Repairing the walls, it was.

And let her tell you, An could lift a pretty good deal.

Randal knew better than to enter the house to save the humans because fire was an extremely volatile entity and there was no way that in such a flammable environment that anyone would ever be ale to hope to control it. The condition would change rapidly as people entered to save others and Randal with his life on the line would not be the one to put himself at risk however he would do whatever he could.

At the moment the options that he had were to continue collecting water or go inside himself. The water was safe for him because he would not have to put his life at risk but the effect of putting out the fire without a house and with just buckets of water was extremely ineffective.

Other wise he could try entering the hut and with his superior constitution attempt to rescue anyone who was trapped inside.

Someone had better picked up the phone, because Arabelle f-cking called it.

Not long after she spoke to Cordelia and Oscar about the Christmas fair event lacking the usual SAO invasion flair, she received a notification from none other than her beloved scout about Floor 17's sub-settlement being in shambles after a preliminary attack with more coming their way in three days' time. Speak of the devil--and it happened just as she arrived at Magnolia with the thought of eating some Christmas pie already in mind. Arabelle arrived as soon as she could, silently choosing the mini 'Save the Royal Family' quest she had heard of from her other informan--

"I heard that another group just bailed them out earlier."

"But then, where's the fun at now?" the small purple-haired girl pouted and made a show of turning back. "I'm coming back in three days!"

"Okay, wait, wait--" Arabelle flashed him an unimpressed look, but she didn't move any further. "I'm getting word that many portions of the wall are still in disrepair. Considering how well they lasted against the first wave, it needs to be back in its old state and with extra fortifications to boot." In three days' time, they thought silently. "We need as much help as we can get and really, I don't want to see what happens if that invasion actually wipes an entire city."

"I do," she said innocently.

Claude shot her a withering look. "Arabelle--"

"--Kidding," she responded with a smile. "Can you come along? We haven't ever done an event together! Come on, come on, I'll make sure we do something fun~."

"Sorry, but Leah already stuck me with a job." He gestured to the semi-transparent menu screens that floated between them with a guilty smile. Were those maps? Arabelle thought the players directing people to places that were in need of repairs were familiar. "I'll point you there though! Go get them, you little mimic."

He said that in reference to the oversized red cloak she had on her person. Okay, there was no way Arabelle was saying 'no' now. The small purple-haired girl tugged the hood over her head with a small smile. From there, it wasn't long before she reached the part of the wall in need of repairs. And lo and behold, her wonderful scout had pointed her right to the section where an all-too-familiar girl was helping out as well.

The Other Girl.

Arabelle wasn't ever going to get a break from this, was she?

"Hello!" she approached with a friendly wave of greeting. On her way, she looked down the wall and silently pinpointed the sections that were most in need of repair. Arabelle would use that knowledge to help one of the builder NPCs later. "I'm helping out here as well. Let's get this going, shall we?"

Jinx couldn't not look out beyond the wall, at the damage the event had caused the town. Fires, people suffering, even if they were NPC's, just bits of code, the girl felt like she HAD to act. To do something, for if she just let it happen...She'd hate herself. Action was always needed, and as she'd learnt recently, even someone like her could help. Like now, the wall needed to be build or risk the incident happening again! If the wall held, then those who suffered would be safe. Those who were n pain could survive, and the town could be brought to life again. But shoudl the wall fall.....

Jinx grabbed another chunk of stone, and after a small bit of climbing, inserted it into the wall to try and rebuild the defensive structure. That's when she heard a familiar voice, and smiled brightly at the purple-haired girl who had arrived.

"Arabelle! I'm so glad to see you here. The wall, it needs to be repaired. If we get the main section done up, then...Well, the town should be safe!"

Objective put out fires 4/10

"Ah...uhm...oh gosh...." Ceres wasn't sure how this all happened..nor how it exploded so fast. All she wanted to do was scout the higher floors in preparation for her hunting T3 materials, and what did she come into? RAGING INFERNOS!? Like....really? This was absolutely intense.

Ceres had a bucket in her hands, unlike others, this did not contain water but sand. The petite woman struggled to lift it high enough to splay over the wooden floorboards of a nearby shop. The one beside it was already blazing, and the flames were licking at the ground below. She could suffocate the flames and cover the flammable material with a single throw.

"HUuyaaah!" With a great deal of effort the redheaded woman had hurled the sand up into the air - it landed over the flames and quickly snuffed most of them out. She wiped her brow. Giving a sigh of relief. "Ok...just a few more....."

Ceres ran back to the wall, and knealt down - ripping open one of the sandbags to fill her bucket again. Then, with a slightly slower pace Ceres managed to return to the store, throwing more sand over the fire. She repeated this a few times till the flames were completely extinguished.

Her legs were shaking, and she was dripping in sweat. Still. No matter what... at least she was able to help, even if it was in the smallest of ways.

Randal was about to rush into the burning fire when another player @Ceres was seen pouring a huge bucket of sand into the fire which very effectively suffocated the fire and thanks to the water that Randal and the rest of the villagers had been throwing.

Thanks to her help, the villagers trapped inside was more than capable of escaping and they quickly killed the fire.

Randal nodded towards the player before signaling to her that there was another fire not too far into the distance and that they should proceed. Randal didn’t know if she was following his lead or not but he first picked up a bucket of sand and poured water into it before carrying the heavy load over to the place of scorching heat.

This time no one was in danger of burning away so Randal could calmly attempt to subdue the fire. He beat the fire back but he wasn’t confident it would not light again.

"It's almost amusing..." Mari said to herself as she was surrounded by fire and Meyham. Walls were crashing down - skeleton ghouls were breaking into the safezone, NPCs were screaming and crying...there were players scrambling everywhere and Mari just stood...still in the middle of it all. Doe eyed gaze watching the others.

"It's almost like I'm invisible...and..." She tilted her head to the side. "That's kinda nice..." Her steps lead her to the apothecary. It...was...decimated. Her blue eyes drifted upwards at the charred fire damage. "How sad..." She stepped up into it and picked up the lone potion that was sitting there. She then strode toward the medical tent, she knew there was someone in there, because she could hear the crying. The Orange haired Pker dipped her head underneath the tent flap and her eyes furrowed.

A child...

Mari carefully approached the crying child and gently placed the potion into their hands. "It's scary out there huh?" She asked. The little child nodded. "Well..." Mari kneeled down in front of the mand gave them a gentle smile. "This is a magic potion. If you close your eyes and drink it, you will gain the confidence of the greatest warriors! Do you think you can do that for me?" The child nodded then downed the potion. THeir wounds began to heal.

"Ok now hold your hand in front of your face like this...and on the count of 5, we will both remove our hands and be smiling ok?" The little child nodded again and placed a shaky hand in front of their face. Mari mimicked them. "Ok....One...Two....Three...FOur...five.." She lowered her hand and offered him a large smile. It was forced, but it was meant to look strange. The kid lowered their hand, and upon seeing Mari's face, laughed.

Mari reached out and toussled their hair. "You gonna be ok now?"

"Mmmhmm!"

"Good...good." Mari cooed as she stood up and left. There were more people to look after.

I miss Evelyn...

Objective: Put Out Fires (6/10)

Ceres saw another player nearby...he was also putting out the fires, at least she thought so? It was hard to tell between all the chaos. He gave her some sort of nod then followed her to the wall. As Ceres tore open another bag of sand the male player put it in his bucket then..."What on earth?" He was filling it with water. "Don't do that!" Ceres chastised. "Just sand works! you're just making it needlessly heavy and..." Oh.... he was already gone. Half running with the bucket.

Well...she supposed he would learn the hard way. Ceres sighed and shook her head. She lifted up her arms and quickly tied her rose-red hair into a loose ponytail to keep the tendrils from sticking to the sweat on her face. It would have been better for one of them to focus on water, and the other on sand - but - whatever.

Ceres moved away from the sandbags and found a small waterpump nearby, next to it, a hose. "HA!" She cried out. This was perfect. Ceres attached the hose to the pump and started pumping till water flowed out from the hose. The small woman grabbed the hose and ran in the direction of the fires. Leaving a trail of water behind her.

At the next fire, Ceres lifted the hose and started to spray the roof of the small home. The water quickly doused the flames, thanks to the pressure of the hose. "Take that Fire!" Ceres exclaimed as she punched the air in the direction of the flames.

Like a fire sprite, Basuke would often be seen hopping from floor to floor, curiously going through the different environments with a flash, just in case anything cool was to be taken note of. Today, it was the events of Floor 17 that had caught his attention. What was once a white-marblish pristine floor had turned into a hellscape of brimstone and fire. The boy was nigh uncomfortable with the scenario, for sure, and so decided to investigate.

And then help.

He couldn't really do much, as a small-time player, and he hadn't exactly been up to anything interesting as of late either. But Basuke was determined! Observing the other players hard at work, he decided a potion would suit their needs -- to invigorate the masses, wounded physically or otherwise. One quick trip to the apothecary and back, and the site of emergency had yet another potion ready for the taking.

He placed his two hands on his hips, standing proudly, beaming to himself.

"Okay, what in the world is going on now?"

Calrex looked left and right as he walked into the chaos that was the grounds of Larissa. He felt a bead of sweat form on the side of his head before an NPC came by and quickly gave the gist of the situation, "A invasion from a dark fortress that just appeared. Dang this is pretty unique from the past events. I guess I have been away for a while. Well, might as well get back to work."

Swiping on his menu his casual attire vanished, his form being covered in his dark navy blue armor, the Grand Chariot III, "Doesn't seem like I'm well suited for the other tasks at the moment, so might as well help out with the fortification in the meantime."

He could see other players already performing their tasks, hauling the supplies needed for strengthening the city walls. Stretching his shoulders out he gave a small sigh, heading over to a gap in the number of workers, with a larger gap in the wall to match the lack of manpower, "Here to lend a hand."

Reaching down with both of his arms the bluenette wrapped his fingers around the large stone block, giving a quick breath before using his legs to lift the massive chunk of cinder, walking over to the gap and placing it into the best fitting spot he could find.

"Good." Came her next response as she stepped up and into the building. "There was another sick person in the tent, so I'm just gonna grab it and go."

Mari went into the apothecary and grabbed the potion then made her way back to the tent. Covering her mouth to cough. There was more smoke now, and she couldn't tell if that was because there were more fires, or that they were being put out. Either way. It was annoying. Mari entered the tent and gave the kid a small wave. "Still going strong, hero?" She asked.

"Yup! That potion really helped!"

Mari gave the kid a soft smile. "I'm...glad..."

There was another NPC in the corner, coughing. Mari gave them the potion. "Here, drink this. It'll help with your wounds."

A shaky hand reached out to grab it. "T-Thank you," The NPC said as they reached out and grabbed the potion.

Objective put out fires 7/10

Ceres had no idea where the other player had gone, not that it mattered. He could take his heavy bucket filed with sand and water and make a sandcastle for all she cared...Ok..maybe that was a little harsh...Ceres didn't like this. The flames and fires, the heat, the sweat dripping down her back and face.

It made her more than a little antsy. Still, she was holding onto a hose that was spewing forth a torrential wave of water. She didn't have time to wonder where the other player was. Ceres' lilac gaze shifted to another place just a few doors down - she slowly approached it, first dousing the house in between - that way the fire would be less likely to spread.

Then Ceres heaved the heavy cloth hose to the house on fire - lifting it up high she started to spray the large flames. Thick black smoke plumed up from the ashes. Ceres coughed and lifted up her short to cover her mouth. Her eyes stung - but at least the fire was out.

Oh okay. That was fast. The boy let out a surprised grunt as he watched the potion he'd just set down get taken away. That's not fair to him, he couldn't let his efforts go to waste just like that--!

A short grumble, and a tilt of his cap, before he turned around, taking off into a sprint. Back to the alchemist's he went, and out once again, the boy pacing his jogs as a free man. When he reached the warzone, he put the potion in the spot where he'd placed his last, humming to himself.

There. At least he had something to show again for his efforts. The boy took a seat a little ways away, stationing himself to prepare the potion run once more if need be. There was something about today's coincidental knowing about the battle that bothered him, as he sat to wait. A part of him hoped there would be a community for him, so things like these wouldn't feel so... sudden. Or he wouldn't feel so out the loop.

Jinx was smiling brightly at Arabelles appearance. Honestly she hadn't expected her to come, well, at all honestly. But now she was here, she had confidence that this will would get up in no time! With that confidence in herself, the girl turned to continue patching up the wall, moving another heap of stone in place before turning to the NPCS' nearby. They looked, well, terrified. Jinx climbed down form the wall and walked up to them with a soft smile.

"I promise, i'tll be ok. We're going to protect you. This wall we're repairing, it'll hold them back...And i promise i'll be here with you. We'll save your town, and its people" Jinx glanced at her shoulder, and nodded to her Familiar, who hopped off of her shoulder and starting playing with the nearby NPC's "Her name is Fou, and...If you play nicely with her, she'll look after you while i keep repairing the wall"

More and more hunks of stone were passed by and to Calrex as the gap in the wall he was helping to close grew smaller and smaller. Nonetheless, there was still a significant amount left to fill. Looking back at the amount of pieces left in order to fully close the breakthrough area, "There's still more to do, but at least it seems like the other parts of the wall are being sured up with me staying here in the meantime."

Turning around his eyes widened as he noticed the piece that a few NPCs were trying to move as a group. It was much larger in size compared to the other pieces from a few moments ago, ones that were difficult to carry even as a single person. This one was at least five times that and was rather oddly shaped. Quickly moving over he occupied a spot in the perimeter of the rock, looking over at the other NPCs.

Hearing the signal to lift the Ultramarine Knight forced his part of the piece upwards, feeling the virtual weight pull down hard on his shoulders, "Whoo boy...this one is gonna take a bit..."

Objective: Healing Citizens

Too many people.

Diving over a patch of rubble, Skeleton narrowly avoided hitting someone as he hit the ground, rolled, and pushed off the ground into a sprint. He needed to find an apothecary as his own potions would be pathetic in comparison. The town was set to be attacked in less than 3 days and Skeleton had already missed too much of the aid process before even getting here. He was able to choose from saving the royal family, rebuilding the walls, putting out fires and such. Protecting the wealthy in a castle was concerning to him, the more unfortunate were. However....

Too many people.

Skeleton found it difficult searching through the constant deluge of bodies fleeing for their life. The corner of his eye, he noticed someone carrying a tray of potions. He sped past, lifting one out as he moved to find someone who may need it.

Where was that NPC?

With the two citizens dropped off safely at the medical tent, Mishiro had taken to patrolling the streets in search of others who might still be trapped. So far, she was the only one. The wall efforts were going well and she had seen another player putting out the fires, but for some reason, she had resolved herself to a different task. One citizen's death would be a great loss to the town. Perhaps it was a sentiment the players in the tent also shared.

She finally found the source of the cry she heard earlier. Circling around a collapsed house where the roof and foundation had caved in while a small fire still burned at one of its corners, she stopped near where the back door should have been and knelt down. "Is someone there?"

"Yes, yes!" the NPC's reply was shouted, frantic. "T-the wall, it fell when they attacked and--"

She thought she saw something shift.

"Please, save me!"

Mishiro stepped back and studied the collapsed portion the citizen was underneath. There was no doubt in her capability in lifting the debris, but if she was too hasty and took out the wrong piece... the rest could come crushing down the NPC underneath. She carefully picked one that could be moved without disturbing the others and set to work.

It was slow and steady work.
