[PP-22] <<King of Lakes>> w/ Xion

Recommended Posts

The girl stretched her hands in front of her as she jumped off of the teleport pad. She loved this floor. It was small and cozy, not to mention how cute the little houses looked and it felt like a fresh breath of air to her.

Too bad she was going to have to fight another freaking fish.

Seriously, the developers never get bored of adding giant fish in this world, huh? Three. Three. There are three quests that involve slaying a giant fish, but no, no, no. . . this time, the fish can walk.

Now, you must be thinking of how the hell a fish is going to walk, and frankly, she was wondering the same thing. Does it just magically grow a pair of limbs? Cordelia sighed. How the hell would she know? She had only gotten info on this quests like, two hours ago, courtesy to her beloved info-broker, ketchup.

Screw you, Hynes.

"Alright, Pacco!" The platinum-haired player chimed, raising her arm as her crow familiar flapped carelessly on to it. "Are you ready to kill yet another fish?" She asked, her voice teasing.

He didn't look impressed, and honestly, she wouldn't be either. Poor bird barely does anything in battle and she's pretty sure he was tired of watching her fish for. . . well, a fish, and watching it flop around helplessly before she killed it. Or maybe he just wanted fish?

Do crows eat fish? What do crows even eat in the wild? She had literally only been feeding him crackers. . . which is probably something they don't eat in the wild, she guessed? He seemed to like them? Though, it was hard to tell when he literally had the facial features of a bird.

Not too long afterwards, Xion appeared in the teleport pad, clad in his heavy armour and carrying his glaive in his right hand. Since he had decided to return to, you know, actually fighting and trying to level, he had made a bit of a point of travelling more in order to discover more potential sources of SP. Floor 22 was one that, as far as the blonde was aware, he hadn’t visited before.

“Seems nice…peaceful.” He remarked, before taking a few steps off of the teleport pad. With each movement the sound of metal clashing against metal could be heard, heavy armour wasn’t exactly stealthy.

Despite the peaceful atmosphere of floor 22, Xion had not travelled there to admire the view. No, he was searching for a fight. He had been out of the game for far too long, and it was high time that he got off of his ass and did something about his embarrassingly low level.

He looked around, and managed to spot Cordelia, whom he regarded with curiosity. “Wouldn’t hurt to ask I guess…” he mumbled, before striding towards the other player, who undoubtedly would have been able to hear his approach.

“Greetings!  Sorry to bother you, but I haven’t actually been on this floor before…or at least I don’t think I have. Memory can be a little rubbish” he said, with an awkward chuckle at the end. “Either way, you wouldn’t happen to know about any decent quests that can be done on this floor?” The blonde asked with a friendly smile, although it was sort of offset by the admittedly edgy design of his armour. ‘Jesus, what was I thinking back then?’ he asked himself silently as he awaited the other player’s response.

‘I’ll definitely have to do something different once I hit T3’

Cordelia cringed. Her peaceful thoughts were abruptly  interrupted by the sound of a cat scratching against a blackboard. . . or at least, that's what it sounded like. Her sensitive ears. . !

"A-ah, I see," Cordelia sputtered, scratching the back of her head before shaking her thoughts away. "Quests. . ? Er--" She trailed off, suddenly becoming aware on how much shorter this player actually was compared to her. Okay, not that much shorter, but hey, it was rare for her to be shorter than a guy nowadays. Somehow they all took steroids as kids or something, or whatever.

Though, she didn't expect someone shorter than her to be wearing such. . . intimidating armor? Was it supposed to be intimidating?

"A-ah, right! Quests!" She exclaimed, nearly scaring the feathers off of her familiar before she composed herself. "There actually quite a couple of good ones on this floor," she remarked, surprised at the fact herself. "There was one involving a witch I did not too long ago. . . that one offered some good rewards, there's another one I can't quite remember, but that one is much less combat related. The one I'm about to do involves a giant. . . fish," she said with slight distaste.

"You're free to join us if you want, though," she added, shooting him a warm smile. "It's a tedious quest to begin with, but the mob we're supposed to kill isn't that hard," she shrugged.

Xion tilted his head a little as he listened to the other player speak; they seemed to be somewhat nervous, although the tank couldn’t really tell why. Was it the armour? No, he was far too short to actually be intimidating

“A giant fish you say?” he asked with a slight smile, before Cord continued to talk about the quest a little more. “I’m fine with it being tedious, so long as I get something out of it. Although…I would be lying if I said that I’m not looking for a fight.”

The blonde then extended his hand, offering it to Cord.

“I’m Xion, by the way. I’m a tank, so if you need someone to take hits then I can help. Don’t count on me for damage though. I, uh, specialised a little too much I guess.”

He let out an awkward chuckle before he opened his menu, and sent Cord a party request, wicch he waited for them to accept. He also sent them a friend request.

“Feel free to deny that one, but I figure it’d be useful to stay in touch if you ever find yourself in need of a shield.”

She chuckled, shaking her head. "It's been fighting non-stop for me. I think I need a break," she yawned, her hand hovering over her mouth before she gave him a somewhat tired smile. "Frontlines aren't getting any closer, though, so I got to give it my all."

She stuck out her head before grasping his, laughing softly at his introduction. "It's a pleasure, I'm Cordelia. . . and I suppose I'm the exact opposite of you. I just deal damage. . . almost a glass cannon, really," she continued sheepishly before gesturing her head to her familiar perched on her other arm. "And this here is Pacco. Don't worry about him too much. He's all bark and no bite," Cordelia snickered.

Cordelia lifted her hand to accept both of the requests and gave him a smile. "I'm sure I'll need one someday, so I'll keep that in mind."

She looked at the sky and briefly pursed her lips. "We should get going," she uttered as she looked back down at the player. "There's a couple of things we have to do before we have to fight the initial mob, and I have some crappy luck when it comes to these kinds of things. I wouldn't want to drag this anymore than I have," the girl sighed before gesturing over to the open exit.

"Let's head out."

“Nice to meet you, Cordelia. It’ll be good to have a decent DPS behind me. While I can survive most fights, they take forever, so I’m glad that we bumped into each other.”

The tank let out a chuckle before he looked at the small bird that was perched on Cord’s arm.

“Hey there little guy. You alright?” He asked, and extended a mailed finger towards the familiar as he did, which pecked at the armour a few times, before losing interest.

“Can’t please everyone it seems.” The blonde remarked with a shrug, which caused the plates of his armour to scrape against each other noisily. It wasn’t pleasant, but he had grown used to it.

“You lead the way, I’ll tag along and give you a hand.”

Xion said as he gestured towards Cordelia, the blonde tank waited patiently for the other player to begin their journey. They were the one who knew the most about the quest, and thus he was fine with deferring to them when it came to decisions etc.

“Oh, by the way, I’ll be happy to do more quests after this if you need a meatshield. I need to get myself back up there in terms of level myself, so we can help bring each other up!” Xion added with a warm smile and a slight tilt of his head.

"That sounds great, I'll be looking forward to it. There's still a lot of quests I have yet to finish, so I'll keep in touch." She gave him a broad smile before exiting the town.

"Alright. I already got most of this intel from an info-broker, but I suppose we have to actually talk to the NPC to get the quest," she sighed in irritation. "What a pain. . ."

[timeskip cause i really dont wanna writtttttteee]

Once the two had reached the area where the fisherman was located, Cordelia pulled up her menu and paused. She hummed in thought for a quick second before she closed it, turning to Xion with a grin. "Alright, the old man should be around here somewhere. We just need to accept the quest and then we'll be on our way to finding the bait. . !" At least, that what Hynes told her. That man seriously needed to get his life together.

Cordelia looked up. "Aha! There he is!" She exclaimed, pointing at a figure sitting on a small dock that overlooked the lake.

[also timeskip cause i really dont wanna write dialogueeeeeee]
