[PP-19] <<The Colossal Shadow>> w/ Oscar

Recommended Posts

Cordelia hid her face in her hands. Why. Why? The first time she goes into the yellow in like-- months is when she takes fall damage? Seriously? Fall damage is what's going to break her streak? Fall damage? Seriously, what the hell, Kayaba? She got that he was somewhat insane and all but why did he have to go and do this to the players? They were already suffering enough so just add a giant rock monster mountain thing that they have to climb up! What a brilliant, bloody genius.

She blew out a hot sigh.

She hated this. She knew that wasn't the first time she had thought that since coming here but she was repeating herself again just to stay sane. She hated this! Who wouldn't hate this? Would you like to fall off a giant hundred foot rock monster? No, no you wouldn't! It was a miracle she hadn't gone crazy and scaled the whole thing in two seconds!

This was starting to get a little annoying. He only had the time to get one more attack in before the colossus had started shaking again. All it really did was extend this entire process out even more. To make matters worse, Oscar didn't have as strong a hold on the moving mountain as he had in the previous attempts. It was altogether likely that he'd find himself pitched off the edge of this outcropping. Hopefully Cordelia had found her grip now because he wasn't doing to hot now. Every shake and rumble sent Oscar closer and closer to the edge of the outcropping. Fought against the movements, but there was only so much he could do. At this point, it was less a matter of if he went off the edge, but when. His only hope was that the Colossus would cease its shaking before Oscar's legs gave out and he fell off the edge.

Cordelia dug Haunted Verdict into a large crevice. "Screw this. Screw this stupid mountain thing! Screw Kayaba! Screw this stupid climbing mechanic!" Never had she ever been so irritated by a quest mechanic before. What had she been doing this whole time? Climbing. Falling. Climbing. Falling. What the heck? What the heck? Isn't this game supposed to be about swords? Swords. Not. Climbing.

It was like that Lich quest all over again-- except worse. She wasn't even missing. She quite literally could not even do anything! Except climb all over again! She dragged her hands down her face exhaustedly. Why. Why.

Her ego was-- let's just say it fell faster than she had fallen the first two times. She looked at the corner of her vision. Oscar was still full health? Are you serious? No, no, she was of course happy for him, and in no way was she blaming him at all for this-- but seriously.

What. The. Hell?

Well, this was it. Oscar was going to fall off. Despite his best attempts, the shaking kept forcing him farther back towards the edge. He felt the heel of his back foot slip off the side of the outcropping. And then the shaking stopped. Oscar was still hanging on. He blinked. Once. Then twice. "Oh word?" Then he rushed forward and slammed Tesseleth's Fury into the weak point on final time. A Fallen proc. The beast began to stagger. Then cracks began to form. And then it shattered into a thousand tiny shards. An unseen force bore him safely to the ground. The colossus had been defeated. In the distance, he saw Cordelia, bruised and battered from the fight. It made him feel just a bit guilty that he hadn't been touched during the fight. It was just like the Leech Lich all over again. He knew the exact words to say in this situation. He put his weapon away and shrugged his shoulders. "Sometimes it be like that honey."
