Mari snorted at the image of him diving into a pile of coins. "Yeh, somehow I don't think gold. solid or liquid would be a suitable place to swim. I once had a dream I was swimming in a lake of gold - oh and I was burning alive. Not exactly something anyone wants to experience." Mari said. They were walking now, and Mari was a little shocked to say he wanted them both to have equal amounts. "W-what?" She asked. Confused. "I'm grateful but - aren't we doing this for you? I'm more than....aaaand there you go." Mari said, defeated. He had disappeared again, going back into hiding. All Mari could do was keep walking in the same direction and shake her fist at the empty space in front of her. There is one other bubble gum like metal, but I can’t really remember its name.” he said with a chuckle “But I’d agree that boiling alive in any metal would not be any pleasant experience at all, no matter the metal.” he added to his comment. He didn’t really specifically hear what Mari asked him before he vanished into the shadows, but he’d probably get a refresher after this little skirmish. As he walked around, he had begun to get a good grip on how to stay hidden but still in his heavy armor, with every step being as silent as possible. He slowly began to approach a group of skeletons, but these looked … for some reason more sturdy than the others, these guys had some thicker bones, but the same protection as the others, so he wasn’t really sure if it were just cosmetics or some actual mechanical difference. Mari said with a small laugh as she watched him vanish into the shadows. By now Mari was used to him disappearing and reappearing. She casually pulled out her dagger as she walked. Knowing he'd reappear when the mobs did. She was getting a little tired, but she'd go as long as he needed her to; they could very well do this into the day, or...was it night? Mari wasn't sure what time of day it was. It'd be impossible to tell in the cavernous floor. Mari saw the group of Skeletons up ahead, and she picked up pace. Just like clockwork Macradon had gone and attacked them, stepping back as he commented on how his stealth was improving. Mari offered him a grin as she passed him, activating her charge skill and her <<Eternal Cyclone>> Skill, Mari spun on the heel of her foot, tearing into the second Skeletal Warrior - shaving its health down to the yellow, so it was more on par with the others, Mari quickly skidded back to Macradon. Macradon 0 Posted April 10, 2020 #44 Report Share Posted April 10, 2020 That sounded like quite a good idea so he nodded towards Mari “Aight, I agree, let’s just not bathe in molten metal …” he said and thought of something but then corrected himself “You know what, I’d actually want to swim in molten gallium, it has a melting temp of about 30 degrees, so that could be quite a fun day in molten metal, but anything else I can agree on not to swim in.” he said with a cheeky grin. Efter engaging in the fight, Macradon had only managed to hit three of them while a single one just kept clean from Macradon’s grasp. Mari was quick to join the fight and hit the one he hadn’t hit, which made it easier for him to get down the whole group with as many wide sweeps as possible. He nodded “Aye, better late than never!” he said while one of the skeletons attacked him. The attack wasn’t that bad, it was just a bit weird, what helped the situation was that his frost thorns grasped out at the assailant to fracture its bones, right after that Macradon would rush in to attack. "Yanno... normally I'd question the effects swimming in it would cause. I know its not toxic but...." Mari just offered him a grin. "Tell ya what - if you find a big ol' pit of gallium somewhere around here, ping me - we'll take a dive into it." Most of the Skeletons had missed; one tried to attack her but she side-stepped it, the rest were focused on Macradon, since he had generated the most hate. His next attack managed to cut through all but one of the skeletons; that was fine, Mari would just have to focus on that same skeleton again; whittling down its health so he had the chance to sweep through and destroy them all in a single swooop. Mari kicked off and repeated the same actions as earlier, using her eternal cyclone move she slashed at the skeleton till it cracked, the bleed status appeared above it and Mari grinned. Good - this was good. The Skeleton groaned under the pressure of her attack. "Naw, I think he likes me." We’ll have the weirdest hot tub party ever!” he replied with a satisfaction surging through his body, these stupidities, these oddities, these two idiots on a stroll, a blissful living to have in a wretched prison that was this game. While fighting the skeletons, Mari was landing hit after hit, getting bone marrow to bleed from the skeletons once again, it was quite the thing to observe and speculate about, it was weird. He didn’t have time to focus on those small things and keep his concentration upon the ongoing fight. Two skeletons had landed heavy blows to the knight, dealing a fair amount of damage to his health, but like the others, frost patches and icy cold mist quickly rushed up the contact points of the skeletons and dealt not only damage over time, but also direct freezing. Retaliating upon the skeletons Macradon winded up a heavy <Calamity Disaster> and threw his body at the undead horde as Cardinal guided his movements. Each swing kept the momentum for the other like a whirlwind of blades cleaving onto the bones. Mari said as she pictured an actual hot tub filled with Gallium with Macradon at its center, eating strawberries. She wasn't so sure she wanted to see that. That...would have been a rather... interesting thing. "Ahaha..." Mari laughed awkwardly as she flipped the blade back into its reverse grip. One skeleton had been felled - three remained. Mari once again aimed for the second skeleton of the group, a clearly stubborn little bastard. With a quick kick off of the dirtied ground she was on it; twirling and pivoting on her feet as she struck the skeleton warrior again and again, chipping away at its health till it fell into the red. Now, Macradon should be able to wipe them all out in a single blow. Mari skidded back to stand at Macradon's side. "Aren't I nice?" She joked. "I made sure you got the final blow. He chortled at Mari’s small joke “I guess so, but glory isn’t something I gather from killing.” he said with a more serious tone as he rushed up to the skeletons. He didn’t activate his sword art immediately, instead he went in with his shoulder first pushing in the closest skeleton into the others like bowling and as they got close together Belphegor jump over across the hunched Macradon to grab ahold of all three skeletons for Macradon then to activate his Sword Art. Angling his blade for the usual attack Macradon would unleash his <Calamity Disaster> at the remaining skeletons. With bright holy light the knight cleaved down the remaining undead with wrath and power emanating from his every swing. Mari stretched but kept her blade in her hand, just in case he wanted to run off and go hunting for more. As her arms fell back to her sides Mari yawned. "There isn't really any glory from that sorta thing." She said as she rubbed her eye. "Was just pulling your legs." Mari approached him, looking over the loot that was scattered across the field. It looked like ....a substantial amount. "OOof...So Mac...how much does that give us now? We have enough for everything?" Mari picked up an unidentified item. "Man - some merchant somewhere is gonna make an absolute killing aren't they?" Mari stood up, stretching again as multiple bones cracked. "I never really liked the idea of fame or glory - you loose all sense of privacy." She had somehow been placed in infamy, as a terrorizing Pker - funny..how rumours amplified things. Her actions were still atrocious - they were still very, very wrong. But they were nothing like the rumour mill. I wouldn't mind a large portion of those...I want to get back into crafting things for the frontlines, and I'm kinda super short on materials..I actually gotta go gathering on some of the lower floors so I can craft stuff lower tiers can use too. As for items...hmmm..." She picked through some of them. She really didn't care about any of the unidentified stuff. "I have no preference - I don't even mind if you take most of it. I'd probably just sell a chunk of my half so I can get the col out of it." Mari looked up at Macradon, her tone turning serious. "Hey, I just wanna say - this was actually pretty fun. It was nice just running around ganking skeletons - I normally really hate battles. I feel useless in them - and I struggle with my confidence..." It was pretty obvious Mari had issues with herself, she had the tendency to go into self hating spirals, there were terrible horrible voices in her head that told her that she should be dead, she'd be better off alone. Normally it was impossible to drown them out. " - But today - that really helped me, so thank you." The fighting hadn't fully drowned out that self hate - but it helped. It distracted her. He nodded, trying to divide it up mostly equally in value so no one was too gimped out of this. It was a bit difficult to think of what was more valuable than other things, but it could be done, Macradon tried to line it up but it was still not an easy task. “I really liked this as well, I really enjoyed our time together.” he replied with a broad smile to Mari “It takes time to find one’s place, be it society or a battlefield, you’ll find it eventually, you were once the strongest remember, go show them your veteran status when the raid comes.” he said with a chuckle to encourage his friend. He shook his head “No need, I can get the last myself another day, we got so much today that I don’t mind taking a break, I’m getting a bit worn out myself.” he said. "Mmmm...MMmm....Yes, quite...." She snorted, breaking the facade. "This looks fine to me Macradon, remember - I came here with you today under the impression you were well, getting everything. The fact I'm getting half is...well I guess most people would find that completely fair but you know me." She said with a shrug. "I have little self preservation. It's a hard habit to break." Mari collected the items and put them away till there was nothing littering the ground between them. "I'm still trying to find my place if I'm being honest - sometimes...I miss being in a guild or teaching things, then I remember the predicament I'm in." She said as she gestered up to her crystal. "I don't know where I'd be without people like you, Baldur, and Cordelia in my life." Mari gave a soft smile. "To think, I have people like that now..." She shook her head. Macradon 0 Posted April 23, 2020 #54 Report Share Posted April 23, 2020 Macradon chortled with Mari’s snort, it was a fun lil bit she did “Yes, quite, I agree” he said with a posh accent holding up an imaginary monocle, at least he tried but the giggling ruined it very much. “I can’t be taking it all, you were helping, so you’ll get half, that’s only what I would deem as fair, I wouldn’t feel right taking it all, guess it's just the two of us being this weird. Our “upbringing” in this world was very different, we see stuff from different perspectives, but we’re still alike, it’s strange.” he said and accepted the split in gathered loot. “Well, the school will come at some point in time, so I hope you’ll join me when it happens, I still have to ask a few people about different fighting styles before I can lavish myself in the idea, but I feel like I’m getting much closer with all these resources.” he said and smiled. @Mari Link to post Share on other sites

Mari said. "Sadly, people are far more about action than talking these days. Hell, even I'm guilty of that.REgardless..." Mari stood and began to dust herself off. It seemed their hunting adventure was nearing its end. "I'm happy to see you so enthusiastic about the school. You know You will have my support. You should find a few others too, maybe some healers and gatherers. Cover all bases." Mari offered, after all - if he was going to have a school to better others, why not have the option for all fields. "Oh!" Mari clasped her hands together. "Then a teacher on each profession. You'll have the biggest and grandest school in Aincrad." Mari was one hundred percent behind the idea, it wasn't a guild - but it was a way to bring people together, and teaching others - it had been one of her greatest passions before she became trapped in here...then jaded and hurt. The only reason I was confident enough to just take whatever attack you might’ve thrown at me was because no one can deal enough damage to me that I’m actually scared of it … I don’t think the majority of Aincrad’s citizens can do the same to other orange players.” he said, trying to give his perspective of things. He nodded his head “I was thinking of a teacher for each weapon class, but that’s not gonna help much. I’m thinking of all the fundamentals as a start, and then have branched classes like Supporting 101, How to Deal Damage for Dummies, Tanking like a Tank, stuff like that to push people towards the path they find themself fitting into.” he said with a smile, still thinking of the people he could ask to teach. “That’s a good idea.” he replied “Maybe I can get some from ATP to help there, they’re filled with professions.” he said and began expanding the idea of his school and what it could do. He shrugged his shoulders “I’m not sure, I’ve never really been a headmaster of a school before, so all I’m doing right now is trying to brainstorm what the school would need.”. @Mari Link to post Share on other sites

"But I can't blame them, I wasn't much better really - now I'm kinda trying to do the listening thing. Maybe...that's why people are talking to me more and seeking me out more often." Mari added. They were walking beside each other now, but would probably diverge soon - Macradon would return to the town, and Mari - too tired to bother trekking down to her home would probably find a nice cave somewhere. There was also an Easter event coming up, maybe she'd get involved with that. "Orange players huh..." Mari kicked at a rock. "I'm still...unsure if I should do redemption or not...yanno..." She said quietly. "Like, who am I to dictate when I deserve it? How do I know when I do? Who do I approach to help? These sorta things stop me from ever going green again." Mari lifted her gaze. "Even if travel is frustrating right now. That's the least of my problems." Mari smiled at Macradon as he began to think aloud on what he wanted. It was really nice to see him talk about his passions so freely, to have something to work toward. Maybe she should find something like that for herself. "I think that's a good idea." Macradon 0 Posted April 30, 2020 #58 Report Share Posted April 30, 2020 Macradon nodded “Listening isn’t my strong suite, but if I look at them and stay determined, most think I’m actually listening to what they say, it’s not because I don’t want to listen, I just space out a lot.” he said with a light chuckle “But it joys me to hear that you’re getting more and more company that will tell you their stories.” he replied with a smile. He shrugged with his shoulder, not really sure what to reply to her … it wasn’t his choice, and he didn’t know when one was ready for redemption. He stayed silent a bit as he tried to think of something to say, something to reply with, something to be sensible with. “I don’t know, never actually felt like I redeemed myself at all, ever. The names are etched in, they’re stuck there, the only thing I can continue with is fulfilling Draigo’s wish .. and hopefully that will lead me to the place I seek, even though I don’t know where that is.” he said, not really sure what his own words meant anymore. @Mari Link to post Share on other sites

Her smile turned into a look of embarassment when Macradon told her he was happy that she was getting more company lately, Mari wasn't sure she could share the same sentiments as he. She felt awkward with it. That all these impressionable people were coming to her. Mari didn't feel she was confident or sane enough to be handing out advice to others. "MMm....Maybe, although I'm gonna have to tell you the crazy stories, right?" Mari added with a smile. They were near the point where they'd have to part ways, Mari stopped in her tracks, just outside the safe zone. "I think..." Mari begain, trying to word things carefully. "As long as we understand where our faults lie, and as long as we try to strive to be good people - that's redemption in and of itself." Mari offered Macradon a reassuring pat on his shoulder. "You're already there in my eyes at least - and I'm sure many others would feel the same way. But.." She gestured to the town behind him. "You got a school to prepare. He sighed for himself and tried to think of something else. He chortled when Mari mentioned her stories “Oh boy am I ready to listen to those at some point, I’d love to hear your stories.” he said, “perhaps when we have our little tea party?” he proposed, trying to set the schedule for it. He nodded at Mari’s response to what redemption could be and that she saw him as redeemed “I’m thankful for you thinking that about me, I guess that’s better than walking in the limbo where I wouldn’t recognize it myself.” he said and took a few short steps towards the settlement while turning around “Thanks for today, cya another time!” he said and waved goodbye at his friend as he walked back into the safe zone.
