[PP-F19] Attack on the trading post! <<Player-event>>

Recommended Posts

Truth be told, Mishiro hadn't been expecting to blast through the tree creature's remaining HP. As the head of her warhammer crashed to the ground at the end of its swing, the Tree of the Spring's data crystals exploded into the air like confetti and gently rained down on the bewildered girl and her weapon. Another surprise — but perhaps the only nice one she would have today.

Rumbling laughter echoed from the looming Tree of Summer.

"Too close."

Paralyze had no effect. Confused and caught off-guard, Mishiro collected her warhammer and made a dash for safety.

(It was more of a rapid side shuffle, but don't call her out on that).

Though she was the closest, the Tree of the Summer ignored her; Bunny Suit A received a soft tap on the head and took around a fourth of his health bar in damage. The Tree of the Fall slammed its wooden appendages into the ground and the earth trembled.

She steadied herself and held onto her weapon tightly, keeping a careful eye on the mobs until the minor earthquake subsided. The plant creatures appeared to be shedding bark. No, more like it was peeling off; a lot of it. A vanity effect? She looked further up and caught a glimpse of a second bar, this time colored blue. What would happen if it was fully depleted?

Mishiro startled. Tugged her leg free from a creeping tendril, then crushed it under her boot. From the small cracks that had opened up from the minor earthquake, vines burst to life and lashed out at any player within reach. Her eyes narrowed in distaste when more appeared, and she dropped the head of her warhammer onto the crawling branches with a series of satisfying snaps. She didn't expect to have to look down of all places. Tossing her hair over her shoulder, she retrieved her hammer and swiftly moved on.

The player in red called out another order. She circled behind the attacking players as they all followed and kept a close eye on the mobs' blue bars. One sword-wielder and Bunny Suit B successfully landed blows and a Stun on Tree of the Fall. Her gray eyes flicked to the axe-wielding bunny knight's HP, and Mishiro promptly switched targets. She broke from the group and slammed her hammer down on the hulking mass's knee.

...or what looked like it. Sometimes, one had to guess with all these fantasy monsters.

The two mighty tree’s looked at the pathetic humans that tried to stop them from tearing down the building infront of them. Tree of the Summer turned towards the player that had shouted out and told the players to attack his friend, tree of the fall. Tree of the Summer saw the players attack him. Fall was still so young. Had so much more to see. The summer aimed a strike towards the player that had let out the order. ‘’Don’t. Talk.’’ The tree said when he rose one of his log-like arms and let it fall on him. But he was to slow and all he striked was the earth. The Fall was getting close to die. ‘’No.’’ Summer said with his deep, wise voice as he rose and shoke his leaves. With that, the sun shined thru the clouds, surrinding both tree’s with a golden shine. Then an axe stroke the tree of the summer, not only damage the tree, but also shatter more of its bark.

While this happened to the tree of the summer, the tree of the fall got attacked from all sides. He had a hard time to really focus on the small creatures that had started to attack him. But they didn’t died when he summoned his branches. He turned to ask the tree of the spring what he should do. But there was no spring. He looked around in all directions, but saw nothing. Had they, had they really killed her. Tree of the Fall looked back on the players. Shattered bark raining down on them from the orange haired female’s attack. ‘’What. Have. You. Done.’’ Fall said in deep and sad voice to the players infront of him. He rose a hand and aimed for Macradon, but in his sorrow, he missed his target. He let out a sad cry that echoed thru the forest. Once again, like on an order from the cry, tendrils erupted around each player, slashing, piercing and whipping their legs before they retreated back into the earth.

A subtle shift as winding sweeping blow tore through the air toward the swordsman, the air that followed causing ripples upon the red at his back as the attack slides past to the creature that starts to draw light around it. A brightened sunlight conceals cables that emanate from the ground underneath him and the rest, wrapping around his shins and making movement more difficult with a slight change in his eyes adjusting to the newly created shine. It didn't seem bright enough to be intended for inducing blindness, to what its purpose Raidou was not aware of.

Glancing about and getting a quick pulse of the battlefield and the divided attacks dealing drains of HP to the both of the assailants, a quick weighed option and the fact that the creature seemed to target him beckoned him to keep on the pressure.

Buy them the time to finish it off, Lets see...

Tearing his menu open and retrieving a quick analysis of the provided weapons skill set, he found his option. Ripping the blade as it began to glow along his feet to cut that which held him still, Raidou pivots and slides sheering hunks of wood in a shower of splinters from his target. Grinding to a halt, his motion slows burying him under rain produced by his target, beading upon the glass on his face that hid the glare behind them.

It was safe to say that at this point, Mishiro had absolutely no idea what she was doing.

Where she had been certain that, in accordance with normal [Hate] mechanics, the Tree of the Summer would set its wizened sights on her as soon as she thwacked its leg with an oversized hammer, it instead rumbled an utterance and tried to crush the vibrantly-cloaked player underneath its gigantic arm. Luckily, the sword-wielder darted out of harm’s way – but the girl who had previously assumed a less-than-graceful imitation of a defensive stance wasn’t any less confounded. She glanced towards the bunny knight to find that the Tree of the Fall had rightly targeted him and missed.

Well, she had no idea these blasted things had the targeting mechanics of a rampaging bull.

As the player in red delivered a strong counterattack to the Tree of the Fall, she pulled up her heavy warhammer and trudged forward. A thoughtful expression momentarily settled over her as she tried to, once again and to no avail, discern what that secondary bar was for, then her countenance took on an appearance of sharp focus. It wouldn’t be an issue if they all just charged forward and beat their opponents to the ground before they were dealt too much damage. With that masterful strategy in mind, Mishiro shifted her hammer’s weight from one hand to another as she sped her pace. The Tree of the Fall’s vines shot from the ground once again, but she wouldn’t startle so easily this time–!

The sun, a blinding light, shone on rain-drenched grounds (???).

She raised one hand (like she was meant to, a warhammer is a one-handed weapon, you–) to shield her eyes, but as soon as her concentration lapsed, a thick root wrapped around her leg and it was all she could do not to faceplant onto the muddy soil.

This was...weird. Yeh. Weird. The trees started attacking, knocking out Zandra - and now they were upset that they were the ones being attacked? If they could talk and communicate, and had the programming to be emotional then surely they would have at least half the smarts to negotiate if there was some sort of problem with territorial disputes. But no, they were all attack first- and cry about it later when they were getting their assess handed to them.

There were weapons swinging to and fro; and with the girl - Mishiro Mari thinks her name was - using a paralyzing attack on the Tree of Summer Mari decided she'd try to do the same to the tree of Fall. So she charged forward with the heavy warhammer high over her head She swung, a low sweeping blow at the legs of the tree of fall, even with the crying, and the wet patches - she managed to successfully land a hit.

"Dumb ass trees." Mari muttered as she dragged the warhammer behind her to stand back in formation.

With two of the trees still up, Macradon would stand on guard, ready to react to whatever would come his way. Around him were the rag tag group of people that had shown up to fight for the Aincrad Trading Post, not the strongest guild politically, but one that people came to to increase the outcome of their crafting, a place where they could refine their arts. Macradon did not have much in common with the place, but it was his friend’s guild, he had to at least do something.

He dodged quickly from the incoming attack from the grand old tree aiming its giant wood fist at him. The attacks were slow and telegraphed, easy to dodge, but if they hit, they hurt. AS he sidestepped to dodge, Macradon stumbled to the ground, the vines protruding from the ground tangling his feet together. “Oh sh**!” he exclaimed as he fell onto the ground. Too much time had past, he couldn’t send out a sword art, he would get in the way of the others.

The remaining two treants didn't seem to be having a good time against this group of players, following the death of their relative tree they became crestfallen. Almost regrettably in appearance that they had to battle the group, as if, the players were doing something heinous to them. Yet were they not the aggressors? Did they not attack them first? Life half frowned and gripped his sword tighter, it was a stupid ordeal in the end, the best thing to do was to finish the job.

Life bent his knees and charged right back into the fray of battle, avoiding the scattered vines planted into the ground surface to trip them up. Nimbly bypassing the rough terrain Life hovered at the roots of the enemy swinging the heft of the metal into the wooden amalgamation, carving off bits off wood pieces in the process. Before the treant could respond to his attack he kicked back getting to safety.

Attack 1 tree of summer

The tree of the summer watched the battle infront of him with his sad, elderly, wise eyes. This wasn’t going as the three treants had intended. Here, they wanted to spread the forest by getting rid of the building the humans had built. But as they lost Spring, Summer should have called for retreat. He was just going to let Fall know that this battle was lost when he saw the orange haired girl, slam her hammer into the tree. It have followed up from a well aimed strike from one of the swordsmen. The tree of the fall stopped and looked at his arms. The bark was full of cracks anda second later, it cracked. All bark on the tree shattered when his blue bar got reduced to zero. Thou just a few seconds later, his healthbar got reduced to zero as well and he shattered into a sea of blue and white crystals that flowed over the area.

The sadness in the tree of the summer’s eyes turned into rage. He let out a deep, loud scream of pain as he raised one of his arms and let it fall down on the woman that had killed his brother. He followed up by slamming the other in the ground, making tendrils erupt from the ground, slashing, stabbing, hacking the players legs. He turned towards the other swordsman that had striked him, but was to slow to deliver and attack on him.

With the destruction of his target taking to data as the rain that fell dissipates, an set up to completion showed the advancing pieces shifting the board into the player's favor. With Fall felled in an echoing cry from summer at her demise, he lashes out in fury to a network of tendrils and a strong hit toward one of the others. Raidou with a racing list of the arts available and the effectiveness of such burning behind his eyes, weighing his options and choosing the best course of action.

"It's no good." Raidou remarked with the cables still holding steadfast to his appendage, rooting him in place.

Yuki watched the fight go on, she was still worried about Zandra who had gotten knocked out so early, but she would be alright for now. She had to keep her head and mind on the battle in front of her. If she lost focus, she would be lying on the ground with her. She watched Raidou make his attack on the tree, but he came up a bit short. Now would be a good time for her to jump back in.

A pink hue enveloped her golden axe shining off the puddles made from the rain and she rushed the enemy. Water splashed up behind her heels with every stomp. The weapon she wielded above her head, she swung heavily down into the tree but her footing was lost on her last step. She slipped on the water and slid into the giant tree with her body with a loud 'thud'. Today was not her day.

Mari held out an arm to help defend herself against the strike. She grit her teeth as she was hit, hard. Wood splintered into her arm. They were close, three of the four attackers had fallen. Summer looked sad, Mari shook her head. "Ya'll bought this upon yourself!" Mari called out to the old and decrepit treeant. "You coulda resolved this peacefully. Instead of outright attacking someone without asking questions. You coulda come to a compromise." Mari swung the large warhammer over her shoulder.  "If you just asked, I'm sure the ATP woulda been more than happy to let you surround the area with trees. But no - "

Mari swung the war hammer into the Tree of Summers side. She wasn't going to be swayed by data and pixels. It struck into the tree of Summers side; successfully dealing a chunk of damage and hopefully paralyzing it - it was a good hit. She turned her eyes to Yuki and Raidou - who had both missed. "These things happen." She tried to encourage them. "Just - yanno - keep it up."

Down on one knee. The attacking tendrils wasted no time in swarming her with greater aggression, but while Mishiro had been busy saving herself from the least dignified of falls with all the grace of a flailing carp, the rest of the Trading Post’s defenders smashed and diced what was left of the Tree of the Fall’s HP and mysterious status bar into bits. A large mass of data crystals poured from its disintegrating form and the area effect vanished as the last tree standing gave a cry – of pain? of sorrow and grief? well, who cared? – followed shortly by a loud slam!

She took advantage of that brief interval to pull herself back onto her feet.

And she figured that area effect would start right back up again. Following another tremendous slam, thin green appendages rose from the ground – probably the event boss’s final attempt to bring down the players before it inevitably died by zerg rush. As an attempt to kill them, it fell flat. As an attempt to be an absolute nuisance, however, its success went above and beyond. She put on a burst of speed whenever she felt one twine around her leg, skidded and changed directions to avoid the spots where the winding greens were thickets, and stomped the rest of the attackers down on the final leg of the race. Aaall while bumbling awkwardly about with a weapon not suited to her. Mishiro’s frustrations were mounting up to a point where the thought of joining the unfamiliar woman in yelling pointlessly up at the Tree of the Summer was starting to hold some appeal for her, but she kept her outward composure strictly in check.

Closing in, she kept a sharp eye on every relevant entities’ movements. The bunny-eared woman prepped an attack, and somehow ending up at the treant’s other side despite her own clumsy maneuvering, Mishiro did the same. She set her sights on the back of its leg and swung her weapon in an upwards-diagonal arc.

This attack is called: ‘I hate you and your dumb forced-mechanics event, and you and your entire forest can go burn in hell.'

Health points and bark shattered underneath the impact of the two warhammer-users' attacks connecting at the exact same moment.

The woody exterior of the tree seemed sad that yet another of its comrades had fallen to the defenders of the trading post, as if it truly had some intention for him and his team to work through this The old tree lashed out at Mari and hit her with his giant wooden fist, slamming into Macradon’s friend like that. “Oh no you don’t!” the knight exclaimed in his small bunny outfit and rushed up to the tree with his giant axe.

As he got close to the tree, he would like the many other defendants, cleave onto the tree, dealing a good chunk of damage to slowly get rid of the tree. “You know what’s good for chopping down trees?” he barked at the tree “An axe!” he said with a cheeky smile on his lips, waiting for the remaining people to cut into the tree as well, getting them closer to successfully defending the trading post.

The tree of the summer just watched as two of the players tried to hit him, but they didn’t. He was just gonna laugh when he felt a pain. He looked at the woman that landed a strike on him, and as well tried to talk to him. ‘’No!’’ he said, telling that the woman was wrong. The speech was followed up by two strikes from two other players. The final strike with the hammer and the axe, reduced his health to zero. He let out a scream before he started to shine a few moments before shattering into a sea of blue and white crystals.

The three trees was now destroyed and the whole battlefield turned calm. Infront of the players laid three piles of branches. One pile, the branches had just a few leafs, the second pile had green big leafs and the third ones had red and brown leafs. The player could pick on branch each.

When the first player interacted with one of the piles, the temperature started to drop and the wind grew in strength. The sun was also hiding behind some thick clouds and the calmness turned into a heavy silence, only broken by the wind thru the leafs and the players voices.

As the final falls, a serenity takes the field for but a moment. Piles of their demise remain behind, strange as usually nothing remained when the cardinal system claimed these mobs. Raidou fixes his frames and kneels down over each respective pile, without touching them as prompts flush his HUD as he inspects them. A choice is made, Raidou could feel in the pit of his stomach that this was not over. Looking to the others, Raidou notices they are all still standing. Rushing to Zandra's side and removing a crystal it won't activate as if this event was limiting all of his equipment. A decision, removing one of these sections of wood with emerald growth as time was starting to become more dire.

Raidou claims Branch of spring!

A sudden shift cascades, causing loosely fitted signs to sway sideways as the wind picks up. A sharp exhale bleeds a fog of white, Raidou uses his sleeve to remove the film that coats his eyes. Although it was becoming bone cold, things were just heating up.

Of course the tree would scream out no. Most people err, in this case...things don't like being proven wrong - they don't like it when logic dictates that their actions were wrong. God forbid that someone or something is infallible. "Tch." Mari watched, unamused as the last tree shattered, leaving behind piles of twigs and leaves. "Honestly...." Mari muttered as she walked up to the pile of leaves. A hand lifting up to scratch at her head, she almost forgot the bunny ears Macradon had placed there. She made a mental note to get him back later.

At least Baldur isn't here to see me in this. Mari thought to herself as she glanced over her shoulder and down to see the equally fuzzy tail affixed to her belt. yeh. No, she didn't need to die of embarrassment today.

Raidou had picked up one of the branches - so Mari, figuring they'd be useful later - decided to pick a different one; to give the group diversity. Being partial to autumn - Mari reached out to grab the stick with brown covered leaves. "What do you suppose this is for?" Mari asked as she waved it around

With the last few attacks felling the giant animate tree, the last of its kind fell into blue crystals like its kin, dispersing into thin air, leaving only loot piles of tree branches? With close inspection to each of the branches, different properties were presented to the players, each branch having its boon for the defending squad. He looked at the branches and pondered while two others already went up to grab some of the branches “Seems like we need some more accuracy on our attacks.” he said and went over to the pile of Spring Branches. He grabbed one for the rest of the party to choose whatever they thought would be appropriate, they were covered in decent accuracy and dabbled into mitigation, the rest of the defendants could choose whatever they wanted to aid everyone. It would make sense to go for more mitigation since both he and Mari had been taking a heavy amount of damage sent at them, but Macradon figured that being less egotistical in this moment would probably help them more.

And the final tree was chopped to death by a knight clad in a bunny suit.

Like the millions of polygons flaking off the treant’s shimmering form, a feeling of calm accomplishment blanketed the outer zone. The defenders, whose movements in battle had them scattered all about the field, had no enemy left to face and every unpleasant area effect had since reverted. The Aincrad Trading Post’s HQ was saved!

(Except, it actually wasn’t).

Mishiro loosened her hold on the warhammer, partly propping it by the base of its handle on the ground. When the last of the data crystals had dissipated into the air, she glanced dryly at the bunny knight on account of his earlier exclamation – (Duh? Was that supposed to be witty?) – before her gaze was drawn back to ‘something else’ manifesting in the vanquished trees’ place. Three piles; each consisted of branches that appeared to be taken from each mob. The vibrantly-clad player was the first to inspect the curious drops, and as soon as he lifted a spring branch, the skies darkened.

It was as if the air was suddenly charged with an ominous energy. Strong winds sent the ATP’s guild banner flapping wildly in its pole, and a silent heavy chill crept in from the edges of the outer zone. Really, it didn’t take a genius to figure out the first three were not the only thing the game had to throw at them today.

The girl shook her head and strode towards the very conspicuous piles of loot, letting the warhammer’s weight drag along behind her. “Party buffs,” Mishiro spoke after a quick inspection of each batch and their respective attributes.

And it looked like she could only pick one…

She eyed the other players’ selections and chose a spring branch for herself.

“We only need one more of this–” she held her selection up for the two players who hadn’t chosen yet to see “–at most. Everything points to another wave coming, and it'll only be stronger than the previous. With how much damage we sustained against the first three, I think taking protection over the damage buffs is the better option.”

As Mishiro picked up a branch from the pile that had spring theme, all three piles suddenly started to fade until there was nothing left. All that was left was the four branches that some of the players had picked up. Eveyone except the orange haired woman had picked from the tree of the spring remainings.

The wind had increased in strength more and more and the sun have been covered by a few clouds. All players could feel that the temperature was dropping and they could feel snowflakes on their bare skin. The surface of a nearby pond had started to freeze.

Suddenly, the ground shaked and a loud, deep sound was herd. Like slamming a log at the ground. And it didn’t took long until the adventurers saw the source of the sound. A huge creature made of wood was approaching. The bark of the tree was covered with a thin layer of frost. More boom’s was herd as it walked closer and closer. He lifted his right arm that was way to big, as long as he was tall. The hand fell and slammed the ground right infront of the adventurers.

‘’How dare you?’’ the wind was whispering in the players ears. ‘’First you kill my sister and brother, and then takes their remains. Why you do that, to keep as trophies? I wont allow that. Those are not yours to keep.’’ And with those words, the four branches shattered into a million pieces. ‘’You will pay for your disrespect.’’

All the teammates got their chances to pick up one of the fallen branches that came from the trees. Yuki, did not have that luxury as the Tree of Winter appeared way too quickly for her to make up her mind on which one of the branches she could take. All the branch piles phased away, leaving what was left of the trees in the players' hands. It was kind of weird to think of the branches like the bones of their enemies, but it was probably a good thing that she hadn't picked up the branches. It seemed like the Tree of Winter had increased it's power with the trophies that they had collected from his brothers and sister. The feeling of the branches imbued the group with power, but the Winter tree itself seemed to take the benefit for himself as well.

Yuki readied her axe and decided to try a new sword art. Her axe switched to a pink hue, filling the air with a low hum. "No more messing around then, hunh? It is worth to try and honor your family, so let us give you a good fight then!" Electricity laced within the axe, it cleaved into the tree sending a few splinters of damage out of its skeleton. It was only then that Yuki realized it's beefy health bar - Whew! This thing was tougher than all three of the other trees combined!

"We all need to attack together! Put all your strength into it guys!" The bunny girl took a step back, returning to her group of players while they worked out a strategy.
