Cordelia stretched her arms in front of her.

First combat quest since she had tiered up? Hell yeah! She was prepared. Before she had teleported to floor twenty-three, she was pretty sure she downed three servings of ramen. Buffed ramen.

Maybe her cooking skills were finally becoming useful? Fun, fun, fun.

She looked to each of her shoulders before sighing in relief. Thank God she had managed to get Pacco out of that katana. She wouldn't know what to do if her familiar was stuck in her sword forever. Heh, that would not be very fun. She would much rather have two birds than a pitch black sword, which sounded incredibly weird now that she thought more about it.

"Alright, Pacco!" She exclaimed, balling her fists in excitement. "We're going to slay something today! With my new sword-- and with your other hand puppet!" She said, still convinced that her two birds were actually hand puppets of some kind of invisible demonic entity.

“Maybe this was a bad idea.” She told herself as she moved about Floor twenty three. Valerie has only been going to random floors to look for possible choices for familiars, but now, on floor twenty three, she might have taken her adventuring too far. She found herself in the Underdark. How? The same way she ended up everywhere that she was not supposed to be: She was lost, horribly lost. A great wailing came from not too far off causing the woman to shriek and nearly jump out of her skin. “What in God’s goo name was that?” she asked herself. She was unsure, but it was best to just keep moving.

It came again out of the darkness. Was the sound closer? Was it just her mind playing tricks on her? She knew not, but she was not about to find out what was making that sound. It was likely to kill her, whatever it was. Swiftly, she made her way down the path first at brisk walk, then at a jog, but the quicker her feet carried her, the faster she moved, and the woman was at a near sprint. She wished she had a map to know which way to go, but unfortunately she had none as she’d never been here before.

Rosary ran for at full steam. She turned to look to make sure she was not being followed, that she nearly plowed into some before her. Rose only only near stopped in the nick of time causing herself to take a tumble before crash-landing at the person’s feet. She looked up to see a very strange, very pretty young girl standing before her. She was so pale in complexion with the fairest of hair that she’d ever seen and she was talking to not one, but two very weird looking birds. The girl was the remarkably striking, like an Eldar. “Hello Galadriel,” she said as she got up onto her feet and began to dust herself out. “You wouldn’t happen to know the way out of here would you? There’s something back there, and I don’t know what it is, but it’s making an awful lot of noise, and I’d just like to leave now…”

IAn underground floor? How interesting! It was extremely unexpected to see one of the levels buried completely under the dirt. Yuki wondered if there was a way to climb up to the surface, or if there was even a surface to this floor. This was one of the highest unlocked floors that front liners had made it to, so it was too dangerous to venture out of the safe zone, but she was only traveling to the floors safe zones to investigate them. To find out what sort of power levels she should be on when she makes it here and overall just take in the scenery.

Her sight seeing was interrupted by a loud crash a few meters away. A woman had crashed in front of another girl right on her face. They were both players, indicated by their green cursors. Would it be too impudent to introduce herself to people nearing front line levels, let alone front liners themselves. She wasn't a fan girl or anything, just did want to bother them. Either way, she swallowed her nervousness and walked over to them both.

"Oi," Her thick Japanese accent stood out to the both of them. "Daijobuka? You took a pretty bad tumble there, even if we can't really feel all that much pain." Yuki offered them both a wave and a smile.

"Galadriel?" She muttered, regaining her composure as she gave the girl an odd look. Cordelia looked over her shoulder. "Something back there?" Cordelia echoed, placing her hand firmly on top of her katana's hilt as she gave the darkness a hardy. "I wouldn't suggest leaving right at this moment. . . you don't know what could get you on your way out," she mumbled, looking back over to the girl with a small smile. She didn't look too awfully high leveled-- heck, she wasn't sure if she was even above tier one.

"Just stay with me for a quick bit, okay?"

Cordelia looked behind her own shoulder at another newcomer. "I'm fine, thank you," she exclaimed, waving back. Again, she wasn't sure where these people were coming from-- but the Underdark was no place to be messing around with.

"Hey, what level are you two--"

Cordelia flinched, her eyes quickly narrowing towards the darkness before she jumped in front of Rosary. "Stay behind me!" She barked, quickly unsheathing her katana from its scabbard.

From the pitch dark, a massive and grotesque mob appeared before the group, making shivers go down the girl's spine. She looked over to the two other players in slight panic. This was something she could handle-- but was it something they could? "Don't-- don't attack it. Leave it to me, okay?" She asked, giving them a wry smile before she charged forward.

Ugzeke let out a roar as it clumsily charged towards her as well. Her sword clashed against his wooden club, chipping away at the word before she broke off. Her birds fluttered above, keeping an eye-- or rather, multiple eyes on the fight.

Like a ragdoll to a baseball bat, Ugzeke swatted her away almost too easily-- which really hit her in the pride. She gritted her teeth, tumbling on the ground for a few seconds before she caught herself on her feet. This guy was tougher than she thought he was-- of course Hynes would do that to her-- Oh, well it didn't matter anymore now, did it? Her smirk played on her lips as she watched the mob slowly start to stiffen up, kudos to her lovely armor!

Cordelia exhaled heavily, darting back into combat as she activated a San Ge. Taking advantage of his immobilized state, Cordelia quickly maneuvered behind him, all before plunging her katana into his back.

Galadriel looked puzzled. It was no wonder with Rosary tumbling out of the dark from nowhere claiming to have heard terrible things that go bump in the night, or in this case, make horrible wailing sounds. The elvish princess told her she wasn't safe and to stay close. Rose knew this was a bad idea! But why would the girl want her to stay close? The woman mused that it might not be a bad idea given the terrain and situation..

A moment later a pink little thing arrived. Somehow the pink haired girl looked familiar but she did not know why. Rose meant to solve this scooby doo mystery, but there was no time as Galadriel leapt in front of Rosary and grabbed her katana. Galadriel ordered then not to charge in and fight and Valerie had every intention of not fighting whatever was coming. Instead, she backed away and hid behind a small formation of boulders, keeping an eye on the battle.

From the dark something charged with heavily thudding feet. It was moving fast and by the sound of it, the beast was massive. It roared as it appeared and swung its club at the fair one. Its club was met by her sword and she managed to stave off the attack, but the creature's swing was so powerful that the girl was flicked away like a fly. That did not detour the girl and she came right back and attacked, hitting the creature in the back. Rose wanted to help but she knew that would only put all of them in danger and she was nowhere near as strong as the elf. It was better for her to stay back and wait for what would come.

The situation became detached pretty quickly. How had she ended up walking out of the safe zone without realizing it? Air-headed was a pretty good way to describe her and she was only realizing that more and more as she continued her path in this game. As the major threat appeared seemingly out of nowhere, the tank instinctively moved to block the attack, but Cordelia was faster than her. That beast's attacks probably would have grounded her, anyway, but she's jumped in front of some pretty dangerous attacks to protect others before. Her skin tingled with the thought of Ghidorah's breath attack nearly removing her glorious pink mane.

The ditz of a girl, Rosary, took shelter behind a boulder clear of the battle being fought with wood to steel. Yuki retreated as well, just not as urgently as the other low level player. Worrying for someone like Cordelia was irrelevant because she could tell the higher leveled player had a since of compassion like herself. She would not have jumped in front of an attack like that which she could not have survived. She was strong and it not only reflected in her actions as a person, but in her experience as a player.

"Tsuyoi." Her Japanese tongue slipped as she watched the white haired woman plunge her katana into the field bosses spine.

Cordelia ripped out her katana from the mob and looked over to the girls, who thankfully retreated to a safer distance. "Are you two alright?" She called. The last thing she wanted was to be the cause of two deaths.

She looked back to Ugzeke. The venom hadn't worn off just yet, maybe squeezing in an attack was a good idea before it regained its movement.

In a single flurry rush, Cordelia had managed to proc her burn enhancements, which had seemed to engulf the monster entirely before she had to backed away. "Ah, come on," she whispered, looking down at her katana before looking at her two hovering birds in the sky. "Please, just activate holy already!" She exclaimed under her breath, adjusting her grip around her katana's hilt one last time. I mean, come on. A holy attack would probably chunk away a good fifth or fourth of its health right now!

The girl truly was something to behold. She hardly seemed phased by the creature she fought and even seemed to whine at things not going her way. There was no fear nor urgency in her demeanor, only tenacity and gentility. The girl even was so congenial as to inquire after the pair of them. She had no idea where the other one had gone,Rosary’s gaze was too transfixed upon the silver princess.

“I’m fine...” Val called out, “Just keep your eyes on that thing. Don’t worry about anything else but that.” she encouraged. After all, if the elf failed, they were all good as dead.

The princess almost seemed to be having fun. This piqued Valerie’s interest in the highest. She wondered what it must be like to take down something of that size and strength. The woman raised up a bit higher over her boulder almost wishing she’d had a tub of popcorn. Had this been a movie, then this battle would definitely end up in the trailers.

Yuki folded her arms against her chest as Cordelia called out to ask if they were alright. The system of the game wouldn't put them in danger as long she kept attacking it and they stood off to the side. Any other mobs around wouldn't really aggro on to them without them first provoking them. A stern tone adopted in Yuki's otherwise calm voice.

"Oi! Pay attention to what you're doing. If something happens to you, we're done for as well. Stay calm and win!" The paladin barked back. She wondered if her voice reached the girl as she watched her stab into the meaty monster. She was so extremely fast compared to someone like Yuki, though it was probably because Yuki was fully decked out with heavy armor. That's when the giant creature exploded into flames. Probably one of the coolest thing she's seen since she started leveling up.

"Sugoina," She whispered to herself, and took a look over to Rosary to make sure she was alright.

Cordelia flashed them a vivacious grin. "Oh, don't worry about it, I'll be fine!"

Well, she was fine until she got batted by a wooden club again. The girl let out a small cough as she stumbled back to her feet with the help of her katana. "You aren't playing around, are you?" She muttered under her breath, watching as the paralytic venom set in again. By now, the flames had diminished from his swamp-colored skin, leaving a red tint to it.

A ragged exhale escaped from her throat as she scanned over her health-bar. Not too shabby. Frankly, she didn't think she was going to be hit at all. . . but she was doing. . . well.

Taking advantage of his immobilized state once again, Cordelia steadied her katana beside her. A few more hits and this thing was as good as gone. Her heels dug into the ground briefly before she charged towards the creature. She held her breath as she delivered a series of shallow cuts on the beast, littering thing and long marks along Ugzeke's skin.

The elvin princess was astonishing. She jest that she would be fine and smiled as only some fairy tale hero would, flashing her pearly whites before going in for the kill. Things seemed on the up and up until the waif was battered about by the beast’s gnarled club. She went flying again. Rose grit her teeth and knit her eyebrows as she kept her eyes on the enemy. The creature’s swing was nothing short of impressive. Just the monster’s forearm alone was bigger than her own head was. She couldn’t fathom the width of its bicep. At any rate, had that blow landed upon the girl in the actual world, the troll would have bashed her rib cage and turned the girl into a jelly sack.

Thankfully, this was not the real world.

Instead, the young woman slid across the loose soil and dug her heels into the ground until she came to a full stop. With everything she had, she charged at the thing and landed a series of blows upon it. None of the cuts looked to hit very deep, but it didn’t matter; she was whittling its life away. If the girl was careful, things might actually be okay.

Yuki sat quietly watching the battle unfold. Cordelia had made pretty good statement to the boss, that her damage would out pace it for leagues. It was already in the yellow health and wouldn't be long before she dealt the finishing blow. The monster was burning from the blaze that her sword brought upon it only hastening its death. Front liners sure seemed inspiring to someone at Yuki's level, but in the same right, she could easily just tank the Hornet queen for someone who was level 1 and look inspiring to them. Level gap did that to players.

Her encouragement may have gotten the girl hit by an attack. It wasn't meant to distract her from her battle, but she would remain quiet from now on so that didn't happen again. It was a good thing Cordelia happened to be here to keep the two of them safe. They would both be dead if not for her.

Cordelia bit the inside of her cheek as she prepared for another San Ge attack. Two more and this thing would be gone. She inhaled sharply, releasing the tension in her muscles as she swung her blade at the mob once again. The area where her katana had pierced seemed to ignite with flames as she hopped a few steps away from the paralyzed creature.

"That should hold him off for a second," she muttered, looking back again at the two other players. A part of her felt guilty that she had to be the one keeping them waiting. She wasn't sure if it was all that great watching someone else fight. . . but they seemed alright enough.

She relaxed. She would be fine. The next hit on that thing should be the last hit she needed, unless the system decided to screw her over again, that is. Cordelia released a breath she didn't know she had been keeping in. First solo fight in a while! She was impressed. She didn't do as bad as she thought she would.

Was Galadriel’s sword on fire?

Was she also a servant of the secret fire like Gandalf? This was too wild for words! Roary’s eyes widened as the girl’s katana seemed to burst into flame as it stuck into the troll like hot melted butter. He let out a fierce roar and Rose recoiled. Had Valerie needed to make a saving roll against the sound,  she doubted her constitution would hold out against such a monster. Still, the fair girl and her weird birds handled it as if they were shredding through a beginner’s quest.

“YOU’RE AMAZING!” Rosary blurted out. She quickly cupped her hands to her mouth hoping she hadn’t drawn the girl’s attention away from the beast, nor caught the beat’s attention herself. One blow of that knobby club and rosary was sure to wake up face to face with Saint Peter at the pearly gates where she would be escorted to purgatory alongside her momma.

Yuki's ears perked at yelling happening next to her. Cordelia probably didn't need any more encouragement than that right now. Also she wasn't sure if the boss would take their cheering as a reason to come and destroy them for their insolence, so it was best to just remain quiet for now. The flaming beast seemed to be stuck in place, however, it seemed not only affected by the burn, but by paralysis at well. Higher level players had much more time to acquire insane gear like that than her or Rosary had. They had only just begun they're time in SAO, even if the game had already been lasting for more than 2 years.

The monster's health bar was in the red now. It seemed like it would only take one more hit for her to finish it off, but it could only take a single more hit to sent it to digital hell.

Cordelia stiffened up, cocking her head towards Rosary before she offered her a bashful smile. That was something she usually got. A small spark of joy ignited within her as she fought to contain a grin.

"Alright, one more go!" She exclaimed, watching as Ugzeke come back from her paralysis. Like something straight out of a movie, the two stood head-to-head, still as a mouse, nothing heard but the faint whisper of the wind. Cordelia felt the tension snap within her, prompting her to be the first one to charge forward, Ugzeke following suit shortly after.

The significantly larger being swung his great club down at the her, her breath hitching in her throat for a second before she grunted, lifting herself into the air just before it came down on her. The object sent the earth below her splintering into the air, tracking up dirt and dust along with it.

"Gotcha."

Cordelia raised her katana in front of her, blade down just as gravity began to take its toll on her. Black feathers erupted from her katana as her blade made contact with the head of the creature. Cordelia gritted her teeth, driving her sword deeper into Ugzeke before she felt his body start to crumble. She exhaled, releasing her grip on Onimaru before she jumped away from his shattering body.

"Of all times to activate, you chose the killing blow?" She whispered to seemingly nobody as the batter dissipated into the air.

And just like that it was over.

Right before dealing the killing blow the fair princess gave Rose a smile and turned her focus back on the troll. For a moment everything stood still and the silver haired maid faced off with the ugly beast. Rose’s eyes narrowed as she tried to wrap her mind around what was about to happen. There was nothing, just the soft sound of air gently being moved through the cavern.  In but an instant, the girl burst at the damned thing prompting the beast to rush the girl as well. He swung his club down over the silver haired beauty, but she was far too agile for the thing. As his club came crashing down upon the ground with an Earth shattering thud, Galadriel had leapt into the air, barely missing being struck down. Terra split and splattered into the air and the ground shook causing Rose to recoil from the blow.

Overhead the girl readied her Katana and something that Rose didn’t quite understand happened. There were black feathers that seemed to grow out of the girls weapon as it sunk into the monstrous beast’s skull. The further her blade wedged into the troll the quicker the creature crumbled. There was nothing to it after that.

The girl complained at her weapon causing Valerie to shake her head as she stepped out from behind her place of safety. “That was....” there were no words for how [censored] amazing that was. “You are... amazing!” The woman said as she approached Galadriel. “Really amazing... Thank you.” The beautiful girl had put her life on the line to save her and far that Val was so very grateful.

Yuki also celebrated the girl's victory over the massive troll-like creature. She clapped lightly and called out to her.

"Well done! That was quite the impressive displace, miss." The paladin followed up behind the other girl whilst continuing her clap. "Astounding indeed. You must be a front liner with that kind of strength to be putting that monster down a monster of that size on your own. Thank you for protecting us. I'll do my best to be more careful outside of safe zones in the future." An awkward laugh escaped her lips as she scratched the back of her head.

"That being said, it's probably about time I head off this floor. I think I've seen enough for it for now." The girl made sure that she had all her gear in tow and looked over to Cordelia, who seemed to still be catching her breath a bit. "Do you happen to know which way is it to the teleporter, miss?"

Cordelia tidied up her hair before looking over to the two girls. "A-ah, it was really nothing," she exclaimed, shaking her hands with a bashful look on her face. "I'm sure anyone would've done it. . ."

Her attention turned over to the girl in pink. "Oh, thank you. Ah, yeah, I'm not quite there yet. . . but I'll definitely be at the next boss raid," she beamed, tilting her head. "No, no, it's fine. We've all been too curious for our own good before. I don't blame you," she chuckled wryly, sheathing her katana back in its scabbard.

"Oh, right. Of course." Cordelia nodded her head as she looked over to the other girl. "I'm assuming that you want to get out of here too, right?" A sudden realization made its way to her head before she laugh nervously. "I forgot that you had originally asked me to get out of here, apologies."

It was nothing the girl said.

“It was nothing short of amazing...” Val insisted. Even the other female thought as much. She said something and apologized but the elf would hear none of it. She graciously stated that it was natural to be curious. Galadriel was lovely indeed. The pink haired girl asked to be pointed to the exit, to which Gadriel asked if Val would like to be shown the way out as well. “If you don’t mind, I should be getting back to the others.” Rose wasn’t sure what time of day it was, but it was likely that the children would be clamoring for food and poor Martha would not be able to handle the riot on her own.

Val waited for the fair one to show the way out to the pair of obviously lower level players. As they left Val took measure of her surroundings. It’d be a while yet before she could make it back here, but next time she did, she was going to take down that damn troll her damn self.
