Yuki took a seat on the curb side again to wait for their stats to regenerate. They were just outside the boss spawn area and she was ready, but she needed to make sure that Night was ready to fight as well. Meanwhile, Miraak seemed to be surveying the area.

"We're here at Demon's End. As our paladin friend here said, the seal that we're looking for is there." He pointed to the largest building in the city. "We'll take a side entrance that will put us right next to. Ensure that you are ready for a fight. The Four Horsemen won't go easy on us. They are a force to be reckoned with."

"Yeah, yeah. I'm an invincible wall. I don't care about how strong they are, they won't break my defenses." Yuki responded. Miraak strained a brow at her. "You don't understand the power of the corruption young woman."

"Maybe I don't, but that doesn't mean it will break me."

"It's not like we've seen its effects first-hand," NIGHT added. The floor had its unique setting, sure, but not many stayed around long enough to have watched it act in play. At best, some older front liners had their own tale -- then the rest was a mystery. The player watched Miraak clear his throat before attempting to speak.

NIGHT waved him off.

"We don't need the run down right now. Maybe when we have time after we bring down the target."

All Miraak did was look over the two women, before letting out a sigh.

"I sure do hope you two understand what you're dealing with."

Energy regenerated. All that was left to do was to go into hiding. NIGHT watched as Yuki approached the side entrance, slowing her breath to a trickle. When she'd held it in, her presence immediately zipped out of the system.

Perfect. Time to go see what hell looked like.

Entering the side passage door, the girl could see the seal that Miraak had mentioned before. It was a large circle of red with symbols that she wouldn't be able to read. It was some archaic ancient alphabet that she wasn't able to even begin comprehending. The paladin stepped quietly into the room and allowed Miraak to take the lead from here.

"Give me just a moment to break the seal. I'm certain that we'll be met with retaliation. Be ready." He said, making his way to the seal and crouching down to it with some book in his hand. "I've been ready since the moment that I left the first floor, so stop worrying about me." The paladin responds, readying her blade for anything. Once the boss came out, she would be able to start getting hits on it, or pop a howl to make it focus only her.

When the magical seal was gone, so too did the metal chains that held the door physically in place fall apart. Miraak barely had time to take a few steps backwards before the gates flung open, along with a rush of wind that threatened to topple the players had they not been ready for the horseman's might. The blast stung at her eyes -- in the corner of her vision, the sigils she was so used to having overlay her HUD had suddenly vanished, leaving nothing but her statue's grace to aid her in the fight to come.

She'd taken the first few steps into the building's hold, but the horseman was just as quick to greet them at its front door. Famine trundled out, emitting smoky black from its shadowy cowl, and at first sight NIGHT felt the overwhelming urge to strike it down.

It was at her appearance that Miraak felt duly motivated to pull his effort in joining the fight.

Yuki summoned her horn the moment that the boss spawned, allowing Miraak to scramble behind her before he cast another spell on them to increase their damage. With a deep breath, the paladin gave her horn a massive toot, sending a wave of blue energy out from the brass instrument like usual. She watched as the horseman readied an attack and stood still to tank it. However, it's aim wasn't that great apparently. The moment that Night's sword connected with the being, it threw an arc of corruption straight into the ceiling of the building, taking out the floor above them. Yuki stood there unimpressed.

"Really? This is what you said we should be careful of? Are you freakin' serious." The paladin pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed as chunks of the ceiling slammed into the ground next to her. "Whatever, lets finish this thing and go home so I can see my husband."

Were their builds combined enough to lend the two this much cockiness against a harbinger of the apocalypse?

Perhaps. But NIGHT was one to better keep her humility when it came to estimating her opponent's strength. The strike that met the ceiling of the building was enough to cause some pieces of rubble to scatter down to the concrete floor, and the player bounced right back after taking yet another strike at its form when she could, trying to edge away from the area of impact should the roof cave in on top of them. She didn't even get to see it gauge its strength on one of their health bars either -- how bitter playing safe was.

On the other hand, her executioner's blight seemed to be eating at Famine's own strength. If her viscous poison proved to be much stronger that what this floor could've wrought, Miraak had every right to be much more afraid of the dangers outsiders like herself could do to the environment of this place.

The paladin simply walked forward. No matter what anything did to get in her way, she was in control of the battlefield. Even if her thorns were reduced from the moment that they began the battle, she was still able to bring about a dangerous fury. The ceiling caved in over her, raising her arm above her head, the metal glove completely splits a concrete block above her in half. Famine had readied it's next attack for the paladin when she moved in. The pink haired girl simply rushed forward and rammed her fist into the horseman's side, knocking it down to the ground in a dazed state up impact. It wasn't the most damage that she could normally deal, but she was still able to help Night fight like this.

"As I told you, this monster has no right standing up to me." She looked over to Miraak, who was currently trying to dodge crumpling pieces of concrete falling from the ceiling.

Fast. Famine was either fast, or NIGHT was too focused on the shattering of concrete from above to keep her attention on Famine pure. As the rubble continued to litter the ground -- oh, and there was that one blast that rang through Miraak's form -- the woman could only deliver a half-hearted blast against their target, one that it immediately countered with a wave of its short scythe-like weapon.

With her art's energy disintegrating, she recoiled, just in case there was another boulder waiting for her right above. She'd tried to dive in close to land another blow, but by then Famine had seemed to flaunt itself for yet another attack against Yuki, and its blade timed well to intercept her own sword's work. There was a ringing as her steel met its edge.

NIGHT had no choice but to falter, rolling away from its would-be strike against her on complete accident.

The horseman fixed itself to a standing position. Finally the caving ceiling stopped crumbling and raining on to all the competitors of this battle. The paladin took a moment while the chaos was calming a little to ready a counter attack. Famine raised its scythe-like pole arm to its target and slashed through her form. The blade that she had readied before hand parried the blade to the side. Even though parry was made to half damage from an attacker, it still did an even 100 damage to her no problem. That must have been it's minimum possible damage, even through mitigation. Yuki sneered when she realized this.

"Annoying ass mobs phasing mitigation." She quietly complained, pointing her sword forward at the mob in attempt to keep it's attention on her. "Phase is so freakin' annoying dammit. I'll need to find a way to counter that besides just my battle healing."

No. Famine was definitely fast. NIGHT had her teeth set the moment she'd attempted to lunge at the boss, only to find her sword getting caught in its short scythe once again.

This time, the rider wasted no time hauling her upwards with a flick of its weapon.

The jolt sent the warrior airborne, but NIGHT wasn't without tricks -- unfortunately, neither was Famine, as the boss held out its blade to stop her own second strike, the player forcing her whole weight against the creature's weapon.

No good. Eventually she'd lost momentum, instead kicking off the outstretched curved blade and vaulting herself to the ground. The vessel of corruption barely even turned to look at her when she'd landed, NIGHT skidding across the dusty ground, bristling with indignation.

That does it. If the only way to stop its advances was her own sword's power overcoming its own, then she'd gladly oblige its demise by blight.

Just as her health points were healed back to full she had assumed that her prayers were answered with healing more on he battle healing, unfortunately is was just Miraak's stupid ass actually doing something useful for once. Yuki sighed and struck her target with quickly made attack to it's chest. Within the same moment, Yuki's health dipped down even more from the attack it dealt. She sighed heavily. It never end for her at this point.

Night had missed two straight attacks in a row, which felt absolutely weird considering how she was able to land attacks on her enemy no problem. Perhaps it had something to do with her having full focus on her enemies attention and the effect that Famine gave off that was removing their buffs from their kit. That was kind of annoying so she hoped that this thing would eat the dirt soon enough.

No matter how quickly Famine's health was draining, one thing was for certain: it was not by her own damage. NIGHT felt her own teeth clenching as she'd allowed the system to grab hold of her, reality warping by malfunction to send her into the abyss of the realm beyond. Her quiet footwork was all it took for NIGHT to approach Famine's back -- the boss hadn't even noticed her disappearance, attention solely upon Yuki instead.

An exhale, an inhale. This thing was tall, a whole two and a half times larger than her own stature, and the plaything in its hand acted more like a tool than an actual weapon it was meant to cause destruction with. The woman let her anger seep in as it took another swing at Yuki; if her sword was listening, it'd best bring its all for the next swing she was about to take at this thing.

Yuki watched as her ally slipped back into the shadows. She was obviously frustrated with the fact that she had already missed two attacks in a row, which was about par for the course. Night hardly ever missed any attacks so she could understand the woman's frustration when she missed two in a row. Nevertheless, she wouldn't let that stop her from dealing her own damage. The paladin readied her signature shield bash attack winding up her fist to unleash hell. However, she had come up short of her attack and missed, only to feel the bite of the entities scythe rip into her side.

The damage was still minuscule to say the least. It dealt more damage than most enemies could to her build so at least it was somewhat interesting to actually take a hit. Her thorns proced enough to leave the enemy weak to a follow up attack, so Night would finish it off here and now.

She drove her edge across its back in an upwards diagonal arc, the familiar black tar splattering across its raven back. The boss' movements halted for a second, the bar on its gauge dropping, dropping...

To the pulse of a measly one health point.

It happened so suddenly. The venom smeared across its form sunk into the gash of white that she'd opened up with her cut, and instantly, the red sank into nothingness, the horseman letting out an inhumane screech before it shattered into bits in an explosion.

Miraak wasn't dead. Neither was Yuki. They'd get through this.

NIGHT needed to get through this.

She waved her blade around its ashes in a near-celebratory manner. Her weapon caught the overcast light from the outside off its surface, before it withdrew into her inventory.

Mission complete.

"Perhaps I misjudged you two as a team. I think we handled that much more painlessly than I could have hoped for. However, it seems the seal is completed tainted to the point of unrepair. As it is now, I cannot finish the purification, no matter if we took the time to do so. It's permanent." Yuki pinched the bridge of her nose. They had come all the way out here to purify this seal to release this floor of blight that tainted it, and they couldn't even do that.

What the actual fuck.

She couldn't handle it anymore. "Fine." She said in response, annoyance apparent in her tone. "Just get us out of here before I lose my freakin' mind."

"I can teleport us back to Angel's point, whenever you're ready."

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK.

"You're telling me that you have the capability of teleporting groups of people and we walked the entire way here?"

Miraak offered a hand out to the two other players. Almost as though ignoring Yuki's outburst -- and NIGHT's still seething irritation.

"Come, match your palms with mine."

Though NIGHT showed no more signs of frustration with her words, the one grip that she'd lent Miraak had contained nearly enough force to have drawn attention to her own machinations by the system. Just barely -- she'd reclaimed her intentions just in time before her cursor might've turned orange. "C'mon," she ushered her friend, the light growing dark in her eyes. "We can come check in on his progress another time."

What she really meant was 'I hate this place too. Let's just go home'.

As soon as Yuki joined hands with the party, a wash of white enveloped their vision and the world. Soon, they were back near the settlement, the skies still cloudy, the musk still heavy in the air.

God forbid they returned to the 13th floor again.

Yuki turned and started to make haste away from Miraak the moment that they were teleported out of Demon's End. She had to contain possibly every fiber of her being to not plow her fist into Miraak's face after that realization. His uselessness exceeded his necessity at this point. Thankfully, the quest was over and she could put it behind her.

Yuki let out a quiet sigh, trying to lose the tension of all of that bullshit that just happened and looked over to her damage partner. "Well, that was probably one of the most annoyingly long quests that we have ever had to tolerate. I'm gonna say it: I sincerely think that this quest was worse than the fucking Hebishinu. I would kill to take on the Hebishinu again." Yuki groaned. She wasn't really being serious as much as she was expressing her absolute hatred for the hardship that they just went through.

"Just too many enemies," she confided in her companion with a wince, once they'd taken a break away from Miraak. "I don't think that's all to the quest, though. Given better preparation, I might head back there again..."

Emphasis on the word preparation. NIGHT knew to pick her battles better -- this was one of them where she'd be completely clean unloading her arsenal of buffs for the course. Assuming she wasn't to encounter Famine again, of course.

The player reached her arms out behind her head to stretch, pacing alongside her shield back towards her place. "On the other hand, now that the quest is over, I'm sure Crow would be happy to see you back home. I'll walk you." Her last words weren't an offer, rather a statement -- NIGHT was hellbent on ensuring her shield actually got the break that she'd deserved after all this while.

In seconds, the two players had teleported themselves to Coral.

Now back to Coral, a certain light returned to Yuki's eyes pretty much the moment she breathed in the fresh air. "Ah, this is so much better." She comments to herself somewhat hushed. Though she was supposed to be taking a break, she was thinking about what Night just said. "If you're going back there sometime, after I rest, I'll go on it with you again. I don't think that was the total sum of the quest. If there were supposed to be four of the horsemen, like in the stories, each one of them would have to be another fight, right? Perhaps they drop different items. You pulled in a good sum of col from all those mobs that we killed didn't you? How much did you get? Any good items or anything? I was too annoyed to ask outright." Yuki asked giving her sword a big, toothy smile.

-- Oh, right, the monsters were loot minimum. For a moment NIGHT seemed to be taken by surprise by her friend's smile, and a part of her wanted to mirror it too.

Then the crippling realization that their floor was for Tier 2 struck the woman square in the head. It took a great amount of effort for her to reel her excitement back in, but nevertheless, she pulled open her window. The loot was rightfully theirs to split up after all. It was only fair Yuki took part in half of the share.

"Let's see... Eh?"

Aside from all of the unidentified items she'd revealed to her paladin in a trade window, she also spotted a small rune that she couldn't recall having before.

Quest reward?

"Here, just tell me what you want." NIGHT continued her work of piling up the items in their interfaces. "Uh, take this too-- it seems like it'd be up your alley."
