Well. This was definitely a development. The Trebuchet had been destroyed, the Vanguard was breaking, and he was paralyzed. Being unable to act as the Players prepared to set upon him again gave him time to reflect on his past actions. He came to one inescapable conclusion: perhaps messing up Sundered Spire's anchor purely for his own power wasn't such a good idea. As they fell, there was nothing to replenish their number. Skalaugh had risked everything on siphoning all of the power from the Blood Crystals and now he couldn't even use the power he'd taken. Also his writer had to come up with a way to roleplay a disabled dragon. [Macradon 0]

Macradon wasn’t really doing much, the knight and his cerberus familiar slowly whittling away at the ginormous health bar of the great crystalline dragon. Each strike weaker than the one before, like his stamina was taking precedence over his strength, which wasn’t what he aimed to do. The great creature, power hungry as dragons tend to be, seemed to be sapping all the energy out of the crystals with the last revive it did, and with that, the crystal’s energy dissipated. He hadn’t kept track of the other battles going on, but from what he could see with his narrow vision from the battlefield, the tides were turning even greater in their favor, like the tide was already with them, and now the tsunami would hit. Smirking with enthusiasm, the knight rushed forward again, keeping the pace up, hoping that everyone present would do the same, the faster they strike it down, the better. It seemed like it was in its last phase, so this was their time to shine and take it down.

It was at the very moment that NIGHT drew back her sword she noticed the reaver go down, slump and limp with a hard crash that threw up a large gust of dust against her form. Once again, the impact hadn't unsettled the player-- rather, her eyes zipped over to the statuses applied onto the boss.

Paralyze.

She'd changed her stance mid-pull. Flipped the morphing blade in her hands such that the plague bubbled and frothed with excitement in her grip. With an exhale, she prayed that its single moment of disablement would mean it feeble to the other forms of impairment, then battered the back of her sword into the dragon's closest limb. The blunt strike wasn't much to cause great harm to its health, but the number of chained status effects lined up upon its health bar were more than capable of dealing more damage than her sword arts per round at this point.

Besides, wasn't getting past the enemy's defenses the point of her build?

It seemed like Skalaugh will be Ska now since it can't laugh (get it?) with how the players landed some nice blow on it. He took a deep breath and kept his eyes on the Blood Crystals atop the area. "Off Switch, off switch" he began muttering before making his way to it. The only option he has is to climb Skalaugh while it's still paralyzed, not that it can't completely move but it looked like the dragon won't be making any fuss soon. "I'll try hitting one," he told his guild leader.

He placed his katana back in its sheath and began climbing by holding on to its wings. He didn't have acrobatics so it was hard for him to climb, he looked like a sickly kid trying to climb a tree to save a cat. "Now it might not be a success but I can at least try," he thought as he unsheathed his katana again. The now tainted crystals looked very ominous to him, it looked liked it might explode or crash down on them. At the same time, Skalaugh looked way more hardened with its return but such intimidation through appearances is nothing to the players before the dragon, including him.

Crozeph took a step back and turned his head to look at its wings "now I gotta make sure this dragon stays chill." Crozeph began to slash wildly at Skalaugh's back, crystal clear water flowing out of the katana, and with every hit, the water hardens and crystallized. Skalaugh now had another color added on its back, it may not look so noticeable but Crozeph managed to cover its back down to its shoulder with ice "now to the main target" he thought as he turned his attention back to the crystal.

[Freyd 0]

Perched atop Skalaugh formerly gleaming red head, the scales seemed dim and dull by comparison to moments passed.  His cold, reptilian eyes showed the first inklings of fear.  Freyd simply steeled his gaze and leaned forward into the dragon's face, pressing his bodyweight down on Grief's Harbinger, driving it further into the great beast's muzzle.  The crystals around the point of impact clinked then cracked as the wound grew, tendrils of black bile spreading around the sword's point.

Skalaugh roared and whipped its head about, trying to dislodge the irritant.  Freyd was flung around like a dog trying to shake a wet noodle stuck between its eyes, but refused to yield.  Desperate, the great dragon rammed his head upward into the cavern's ceiling.  Ducking at the last minute, Freyd let the force of Skalaugh's own mass do the work for him.  Rock struck pommel and the thorn was driven in even further, infuriating the Spire's champion even further.  So long as he was distracted, the rest of him was exposed and vulnerable.

The Dragon was paralyzed. Thus, it was unable to move as Oscar was administering treatment to its toenails. It really seemed like poor design to make such a powerful dragon susceptible to paralysis. It really made Oscar wonder what other types of disabling effects it was vulnerable to. It reminded him of that quote from Aladdin. Phenomenal cosmic power, soft skull. Or something like that. Being as Oscar had been an adult with a stable job and a career, the man really didn't glean much pleasure out of watching children's movies. The best he could fathom as to why people did it was because it helped them relive their childhood if but for one fleeting moment. Oscar didn't have the best childhood, so why would he want to relive that? Oh yeah, Oscar continued chopping toenails. He got a crit so he lopped off two of them. Fallen Proc when?

The dragon rears its maw, a massive gullet lined with teeth. It was clear through its blindness it was all it could see clearly, an attempt to switch falls on deaf ears. Raidou could afford no divide in attention, as it staggered and waned from one swipe by @Morgenstern its attack was easily reduced to limp and pathetic. An energy fueled backlash casts its sight to one side, giving the wanderer a sight of its spine.

Ice?

Raidou thought, clear as day was a crystalline forming around its center mass. Although it could provide stiffness, the true beauty was... It was now a soft spot. His feet scatter beneath him low, lunging airborne as a mechanical hum causes Auric sol to engulf in yellow. The blade turns, slides in his grasp before he drops against its back shoving the point through the glade and taking his place next to @Freyd - The Whisper in Shadows in contrast

What follows is a cracking sound, as though the softened skin and the ice itself pieces of the creature begin to fall off in segments before expiring. Lunging free and pivoting himself back to neutral, ever on the defensive as this was a cornered animal and he'd take not the chance.

He could hardly fault her for being unable to hear him clearly, this damn thing couldn't shut its trap long enough for him to speak. He'd fix that in the only way he knew how. "Would you shut your damn mouth for a second!" Kiluia yells out, his hands and feet on fire with the phrase in a flash. "We will talk more about it later." he'd comment to Haine with a carefree smile, twisting his head to one side with a feel good pop before his scowl returned.

It was then he seemed to vanish, his ire seeming to cast his art into overdrive. He saw those eyeballing the crystal, which gave him the leeway to focus his attentions elsewhere. Left in his wake was a sudden discharge like static, that scattered upon the stone in a trail of white that was his only give away. As the beast struggled to correct its posture, redirecting its gaze toward a swordsman no longer present it finds only a fist. Those with connection with the beast would feel the strike in its tail, rattling all the bones within its body with one, very well placed, and very amped up 6 inch punch.

Haine silently thanked whoever paralyzed the thing. She was on edge in the situation, more defensive of her surroundings than she was offensive. Her fear had been that intense after being decked like that. She felt that if she took her eyes off of the dragon once, he'd have her head on a platter. She witnessed Kiluia in his element, the embodiment of white lightning as he zipped forward. His haymaker connected with the enemy's bones. The sounds of clashing was deafening as the party scrambled to make use of this opportunity. They had to down this thing while it was convenient.

She ceased the next opportunity to slip into the fray. The Divine Piercer's tip blade glowed blue as she whipped it behind her. She vaulted off the spear and targeted Skalaugh's knees. If they could break them, it would lighten the stress in this room. She kept her focus on the prize: her life and the safety of those whisked into this out of the blue.

"Pffft."

For all his glory - the all powerful dragon had been immobilized by the simplest of attacks from the players. I found it a little amusing, but then again- all those who were filled with hot air tend to fall, twice as hard as those who were less ...boasting of their prowess. The dragon was nothing more than a stunning blowhard. All the jewels and crystals in the world could not hide the fact that he too, would soon diminish from this world.

I could charge him, but no - not yet. I didn't want to use my powered up attack till we needed it, my charge also had the advantage of stunning him, so I wanted to wait till he was down to that last health bar - just in case he had any other tricks up his sleeve.  So instead, I followed suit with so many of the other players there - I activated the <<Imperial Southern Cross>> Sword Art and attacked Skalaugh - this time he has down.

This time I was able to strike at his haunches and neck, and not just the underbelly or his talons.

"PHew..." I glanced up at his health, then back down to my energy. I was running low.

Zandra cursed to herself. Someone in the squad that was fighting Skaluagh had paralyzed it. So Zandra that had spent one turn to protect everyone with her barrier mod, had basically wasted one attack, and a lot of energy. Well, normally, event, floor and labyrinth bosses cant be cc’d. But that made a thougth pop up in her mind. What about, since this would happen, she would probably be safe even if going down a bit with her defensive abilities. She smirked as she activated her quick change mod. In an instant, her big shoulder guards and draconic themed armor disappeared and got replaced by a pair of braces. ‘’Oh right.’’ she said as another thougth appeared, she pulled down her shirt a bit as he hand quickly scrolled thru menu’s. She looked away from the dragon as she smiled and took a photo with the dragon in the background. Then she closed turned towards the dragon and started to run as she charged up her Explode catapult. ‘’Hello there, now I wont miss you Skalaugh.’’ She said and released the power of the two handed axe combined with the charge skill and bullrush. As the dragon recovered from the paralyze, the stun condition appeared on it. Zandra backed off. ‘’HOW DO YOU FEEL THAT LIZARD PIECE OF [censoured]’’ she screamed towards it.

Though the game soaked the damage like a sponge, saving her from feeling the pain, Lessa cried out as the dragon struck her. As it always did, her gaze immediately snapped to her health bar, surveying the damage. Sprawled across the hard earth, she winced, realizing a considerable chunk of her hit points were gone. She blew out a breath through clenched teeth. “Should have brought heeling items.”

Fortunately, her need for them was negated when another player crouched beside her. With his help, her health creeped back into a more comfortable zone. “Thank you so much,” Lessa managed, both surprised and immensely moved by the man’s actions. She clapped him on the arm with a gauntleted hand, then collected her sword from where it had fallen in the attack.

Time for revenge. Eyes sparking angrily like twin, blue flames, Lessa adjusted her grip on the weapon’s hilt. Then she plunged the blade into the boss’s scaley side.

Riding on the arm of the beast was taxing. It was only made more difficult when the stun overtook Skalaugh, causing him to come crashing to the ground. The pinkette rolled onto the cave floor, staggering to land on her feet but soon gaining her balance. Raidou seemed to want to take the next hit until his parry was off cooldown. A shame. She couldn't do a whole lot of anything if the enemies weren't focusing her. Red Robe was hogging all the hate, so there was only one thing thing she could do right now: Switch to DPS.

Yuki opened her menu, taking a moment to scroll through the menus to look for her new damage equipment. A glorious lance, much more massive and heavy then her old model; and, a new armor piece to protect her former-shield arm replaced the sword and shield she once bore. She would use these shinning weapons to destroy anything that thought it could hurt her friends.

It was all rather humiliating. No sooner had Skalaugh got to his feet was he stunned yet again. Then Frozen. Then afflicted with a litany of other ailments. Adding insult to injury, one of the Frontliners took a "selfie" of herself with him in the background. The dragon had been tossed around and abused like a ragdoll. All of the claws on his front right leg had been shorn off. He was a pathetic mass of fangs and scales - not at all anything like the calamitous creature that they had initially engaged with. Indeed, Skalaugh was now at the height of his power. Despite that, the Players were beating him like a red-headed step child. All Skalaugh could do in this state was charge energy for an attack. If he ever got the opportunity to use it.

It was time to move to another toe. Oscar had done quite the excellent job at clipping the dragon's nails if he did say so himself. While everyone else was out there being badasses, Oscar was stuck under the dragon making sure that it didn't really have anything to carve his comrades up like roast turkey with. It wasn't much, but it was honest work. Such was the nature of things. Sometimes Oscar dug in deep and got in touch with his inner badass, sometimes it was Freyd. It was mostly Freyd. Dude had to have a jetpack or something as much as he was leaping around. But when it got down to Oscar, he had acquired his target. One of the back toenails, jutting out so perfectly as the dragon was prone. He stepped forward, raised his axe above his head, and brought it down. Instead of shaving off a toenail, Oscar instead shattered one of the crystals. Mmm, whatcha say played in his head as he questioned his own existence as a human being. Looking off in the distance with a thousand-yard stare, Oscar could only hope that his crime against humanity had been completely obfuscated by the dragon's ass. He didn't know how he could look the rest of the group in the eye after this.

[Lessa 1]

“This guy is a total tank,” Lessa muttered through gritted teeth, her jaw clenched so tightly her head pounded. Recognizing how tense she was, the blonde inhaled slowly through her nose, then exhaled the same way. After a couple of controlled, conscious breaths, she leveled her gaze on the dragon once more. She was confident that they were dealing insanely high amounts of damage, but those health bars still burned red like slashes of fire over the enemy’s head.

A couple more rounds, she assured herself, a couple more rotations. The dragon couldn’t last much longer, could it? Hefting her shimmering blade yet again, Lessa exploded toward the dragon. It’s beauty, and the novelty of the situation, was beginning to wear off. Now, she just wanted it dead. After it fell, she could go home, change into comfy clothes, and sleep. Maybe (most likely) she’d sneak a second dinner in there somewhere

The glorious shinning lance was eager to get to battle, just as eager as the one wielding it. It had felt like ages since she activated a sword art. Ever since she bought howl, she had given up on the chance of missing gaining hate. It was just like riding a bike, right?

Wrong. The lance shined a brighter pink than any other sword art she'd ever used. This was also one of the strongest in the game, so the power was overwhelming to the point that it was out of control. Unable to guide the power, the paladin launched her attack to no affect greater than shattering a boulder with little effort.

Yuki hefted the weapon back up and looked at the boulder that was annihilated by Argalia. "I... I did that?" That moment of disbelief got her caught up in her thoughts. The Shadow wouldn't stand a chance against her.

Attacks unceasing like a swarm of hornets, the front liners, and Raidou to which he had hardly considered he was one. Despite his alienation, however, he'd rush and force his anger and hatred upon the beast as per usual for those upon the field may be more than he was used to defending but he'd play the part no lesser. At blinding speeds space seems to fold, his robe struggling to keep pace as it is forced forward. A sudden burst of yellow painted upon his blade, it's plunged in as he clutches the weapon in a reverse grip and drags it a good meter. A spray of data in the form of scales, from a rib, now exposed.

Extracting himself back and switching back to the defensive in time for his fellow captain to take up his side. Something was amiss, and they should not falter. A pause did not bode well.

Lost within his own powerful blow, he was in a trance as he felt the bones within its false frame rattle. Spinning on the ball of his foot, the light having just faded before it begins again on his left elbow. An onslaught of powerful swings that seemed unending, as the white lightning pivots and slams his electrically charged elbow into the tough hide. He was digging deeper and aiming for something more... vital.

He would prove he belonged here, on the front lines pressing forward to get the hell out of here one fist at a time. A sharp exhale as he removes his appendage, weaving his arms to his face, pushing his endurance to its limits to which he was no stranger. This would end like all the rest, for they were overwhelming this thing and beating it down no different than that damnable boulder on floor 2.

Staying topside was suddenly feeling like a less-than-stellar option.  Whatever Skalaugh was building up for - including next and hopefully final imminent death - the top of his face was hardly going to be a good place to experience it.  Bracing himself against his blade, Freyd trenched it forward along the top of the dragon's maw, plowing a deep furrow all the way to the edge of its maw.  Yanking it out took an instant as if the depth of the would itself attempted to suction the black sword inward.  Was that the problem?  Could it be that Skalaugh had sucked the crystals dry, but not succeeded in filling whatever void lay at his core?  If that was the case, he'd need to warn the others.  

As Grief's Harbinger pulled free, Freyd leapt the clear span to a nearby crystal-encrusted column, dancing down the faces of the various darkened shards until he reached the cavern floor.

"He's still trying to draw in power!  If it creates a feedback, there's a good chance that he's going to blow.  Keep at it, but be ready!"

Taking up position between Raidou and Yuki, Freyd surveyed the scene again looking for signs of what the deadly drake was preparing to unleash.
