Daniel stood at the gates of the Starting City, looking around anxiously. Earlier, he had put up a notice on the player request board against his better judgement. It had read: "Level One player looking for basic training and escort to Horunka Village, any interested meet at Starting City gates -Nihilus". He was nervous about who would show up, or if indeed anyone would, but he had decided he had to start fighting. If he was ever going to escape this game he had to help clear the floors, and there was no way he could do that at level one. He hummed quietly to distract himself, waiting for anyone to show up.

Arekkusu looked down at the fields below. Once they had been his master, no he did not even know the enemies who lie there. Arekkusu remembered how weak he was as a player when he entered the game. He smiled at the scene, it no longer was threatening to him, but rather beautiful. Now that Arekkusu thought about it, he used to be so updated on the news when he was newer, now he hadn't checked it in days. Arekkusu felt the need to stay updated, so he opened up the message board.

He scrolled down quickly, barely skimming the news. Finally, he saw something that caught his eye. Level One player looking for basic training and escort to Horunka Village, any interested meet at Starting City gates. Arekkusu looked at it with alarm, the purpose of safe zones are to AVOID causing attention on you. Now every player killer who target the level 1 players can easily aim for the player. Arekkusu had to run fast, so much faster than he had before in order to get to the new player.

"The starting gate." Arekkusu said. "Oh don't be dead already, stay in the safe zone at least."

Arekkusu ran quickly through the meadows. He sliced his way through the fields and a Warthog appeared. He didn't have time to deal with this. "Get out of the way!" Arekkusu exclaimed.

Rolled a 10 on the d10 (battle) dice

Rolled a 5 on the d10 (mob) dice.

Arekkusu sliced the warthog out of the way, sending it flying quickly and its body split into many data pieces. He then quickly ran towards the gates.

He finally made it there, falling on the ground with his knees to take a breath. Where are you? Arekkusu thought. Damn it don't be dead already!

Daniel heard the sound of someone running towards him and looked up from the gates, still standing within the boundaries of the safe zone. His eyes widened in suprise when he saw the player on his knees. He hadn't expected anyone to actually come, and this player looked like they'd just run a marathon. He raised a hand timidly in an unsure wave, before speaking. "Um, Hello? are you here about the notice?"

Arekkusu had such a mix of emotions at the moment. He turned his head towards the player who addressed the notice. Arekkusu felt like scolding the player for making such a reckless move. Another part of him wanted him to run with the player to an area other than the starting gates. A different part of him wanted to just warn him about what could've happened if it weren't just an ordinary player like Arekkusu to be the one to find him.

"You're the one who..." Arekkusu took in some air so he could breathe. "The one who sent that message..."

Arekkusu stood back up onto his feet. The player seemed way too ordinary for him to fight for himself.

"You put a target on your back man." Arekkusu said to the newer player. "When you sent that message, it didn't just go to players, it went to everyone, including the administration and everyone who can kill you instantly. We need to go inside in order for you to avoid getting killed."

Daniel stopped still for a moment as he realised the truth in the player's words before nodding and hanging his head, realising the mistake he had made. he knew there were some players insane enough to kill others in this game, but he hadn't realised they were so dangerous." Y-yeah, you're right..." He mumbled, before turning slightly to hide his face from the player, embarrassed about his mistake. He began walking back through the gates, looking back just enough to make sure the other player was following.

Arekkusu walked behind the player, making sure they were nowhere near the borders of the safe zone. He then addressed the player.

"Just make sure not to put too much weight on your back like that." Arekkusu said. "We're going to have to wait here until the tension settles down there for a while."

Arekkusu put his blade out, just in case an attack is attempted anyways. Even though a blow inside the safe zone isn't cutting into a players health, Arekkusu knew the retaliation is dangerous, and to be knocked out of a safe zone will end him.

"All right." Arekkusu said as he settled himself down. "If we're going to be hanging out for a bit, I'm going to need your name."

Daniel looked over at him and nodded slightly as his words, still subconsciously trying to hide his face as much as possible. He though a moment before replying. "I'm, um, my name is Nihilus. i'd prefer not to give you my real name, if it's, ah, okay with you." he fought to keep the stutter out of his voice but to no avail. This was the first time he'd talked to another player directly and he wasn't sure if he was even supposed to mention real things or not. "W-what about you?" He said, turning back to stare at the floor.

"My name is Arekkusu." Arekkusu replied. He noticed Nihilus stutter a lot, which made Arekkusu wonder what type of player he is. for one thing, to be easily nervous wasn't a good trait to obtain in the game of life or death. Arekkusu had to find a way to calm him down. Arekkusu looked through his inventory to look for a snack he always keeps with him.

"Here." Arekkusu said as he pulled an apple out of his inventory. "Complements of the first floor trees. Try this, it tastes pretty sweet in my opinion, which really isn't too common around here."

Tyrius had received a notification reading Level One player looking for basic training and escort to Horunka Village, any interested meet at Starting City gates -Nihilus, and was naturally curious to meet this player. He had just entered the safety zone several minutes earlier, and was wondering who exactly the person was. Turning around and walking back towards the gates, Tyrius saw a couple of players talking and decided to ask them. As he was running towards them, he shouted. "Hey! Have you two seen the one who sent out the notification?"

Arekkusu looked up to see another player right there. He felt defensive right now, so his trust was cut in half for many people. Arekkusu gripped his blade tightly, ready to swing it just in case a fight needs to break out.

"Yeah." Arekkusu replied. "He is among us. He is the guy to my right, this is him right here. You accepted the offer right?"

Arekkusu noticed the player was just about as advanced as Arekkusu, so Arekkusu didn't plan to shun the player, not even run away.

Stumbling to a stop, Tyrius noticed that the player who spoke looked... almost aggressive. "Well," Tyrius said, "I just sort of wanted to meet the person who sent it, that's all." Looking at Nihilus, he said a bit too loudly, "Hi there!" His attention returning back to the scary-looking player, he started to think over the situation, hoping that he wouldn't have to fight just because he slipped up and made himself sound bad.

Arekkusus muscles then began to calm down. It was just a player, and Arekkusu didn't want to see players hurt, but that is no excuse for treating everyone else as if they were to hurt anyone.

"Sorry about that." Arekkusu said to the player who came in. "I just know that the message was sent everywhere, so every player who wants to hurt him knows where to go. That's why I am tense right now, but if you want to see the player and actually accept the task laid out on the table, then I will trust your judgment like I do my own."

Tyrius smiled, also relaxing, even though he didn't realize that he had tensed up. Looking Nihilus up and down he said, "Yeah, I'll help. It'll be fun, eh?" Taking a few more steps closer, but still keeping his distance, he started looking around, now also wary of PKers. "This will be one interesting day if we DO have to deal with a PKer, won't it. The name's Tyrius, by the way."

"My name is Arekkusu." Arekkusu replied. He slowly began to lose grip of his blade, his usual trust beginning to return to him. "This here is the apprentice. I'll let him decide if he wants to say his name or not. Listen, we are waiting here for a while so tension at the castle gate lowers. In the meantime, we will be staying here inside the safe zone."

At the mention of the player's name, Tyrius burst out into laughter, attracting glances from other players doing this and that. Between bouts, he said, "His name... the message... I... I know it." After recovering, he looked up at Arekkusu and simply beamed with genuine joy. Tyrius looked over at the Nihilus and said, "Enjoying that apple?"

Tyrius looked at Nihilus with a touch of mischief in his eyes. "I may have been on my way to acquire an item to help defeat the final boss, once we get there." Tyrius said. But then decided it would be a bit cruel to mess with him, "Nah, I'm just kidding. I was just passing through for the sake of pointless wandering." Sitting down, Tyrius decided that food was actually a good idea and opened his inventory to retrieve... a loaf of bread. Tearing into the bread, Tyrius watched the players with curiosity.
